OK, I really wanna like this restaurant. It's one of the only healthy options in Grass Valley. Two months ago, my wife and I ate here and she had a hair in her food but even with that I wanted to give it a second try so I went there on my own yesterday and this is what I experienced. Before I get into the big story I'm going to say I'm gonna try this restaurant one more time because I'm desperate for healthy food. OK the place was hopping last night which was always good to see and when I got up to the counter, the young man who is taking the orders was absolutely amazing. I ordered the chicken Shawarma plate and a side of hummus at that point I asked, can I have an extra pita bread for the hummus? I don't care what it costs. The guy said we're running low on pita so I can't do it but he offered to throw in a falafel that was a pro move but not really what I wanted so I said no thank you and left a good tip. They cook everything fresh so it took a minute or two not a big deal and then my box of food came out. I was a little disappointed, cause that to go box had some food residue on top of it, but I wiped it off and headed to my car as I'm walking to my car. I take a glimpse at the bottom of the box and see it's got food on the bottom and a chunk of beet with beet juice on the bottom. I'm really happy. I caught that cause if I had thrown it on my car seat, it would permanently stay in the seat which would've sucked when I get into the car. I open the box and I see a half a pita. Now I'm irritated when you order the chicken Shawarma, you get three options: a half a pita, a full pita and the plate. With each option, it gets more expensive the plate being the most expensive so here I am with half of pita and side of hummus and piss because I just feel like I got gypped. So here's my advice for Meze Eatery-wipe your counters, clean your hands and make sure you have enough pita bread for all of your customers. As I mentioned in the beginning, I'm gonna give this another shot in a couple of months and I'll update this review. You've got this market locked up. It just takes a little extra effort.
Before I close out this review, I wanna mention that the hummus was fantastic and the chicken Shawarma was delicious. The food quality got you an extra star. I'm confused by the sauerkraut, but hey people want great gut health. See you in a few months.
