Essential Guide to Visiting Tulum, Mexico

"A longstanding beachfront restaurant known for authentic Thai cuisine prepared by Thai chefs, combining classic flavors with locally sourced ingredients and an elevated dining terrace suspended over the sand—an especially dreamy setting after dark when lit by string lights. The venue has been a staple for about two decades and reservations are recommended." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. We had an amazing experience at Mezzanine in Tulum! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The owner is incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel right at home. 😊 The food was absolutely excellent – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was a delight, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the menu. 🍛🌮🥗 And the view of the sea was so beautiful 😍 ! Sitting on the terrace, enjoying a delicious meal while overlooking the turquoise waters was truly unforgettable. 🌊☀️🌺 Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, friendly service, and an unbeatable ocean view. We’ll definitely be back! 💙

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The staff is super nice, amazing service, beautiful location. Each morning they leave a pot of coffee at your door. Excellent restaurant and bar. Beautiful view of the ocean.

First of all, let me tell that I am from Thailand. The restaurant does an excellent ”Isan tray“, like it was sent straight from Thailand. My husband ordered the green curry and chicken basil. They were good. You can tell the staff if you want it spicy. Most importantly, the view and atmosphere are very beautiful.

We had a lovely breakfast here. The servers were all so kind and helpful. The service was quick. The food was so tasty!! The grapefruit juice did not taste super fresh, but the coffees were great. I was extremely impressed with the presentation of all of the food. The ice was from purified bags, so no worries there. For water, they gave a big bottle for my table of four to share, which was less wasteful and nice. Thank you!

Very picturesque and nice view. The ambiance is very nice although depending on your tolerance can be a bit chilly as it is by the beach with a very relaxing sea breeze. The drinks were well priced and the food was delicious with good portions. If your reservation is after 6:00 p.m. please make sure to have a copy of it on your phone as it is located in the national park which closes at 6:30 p.m. and entrance to their is restricted only to those who gave business reserved for the area.

Absolutely loved our meal at Mezzanine! The ocean views are spectacular and set the perfect scene for an unforgettable meal. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The Thai Queen Salad was the highlight—fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. The Som Tam was a close second, bursting with authentic Thai flavor. We also had the Fresh Rolls and Pad Thai, both delicious and expertly prepared. The fresh juices were amazing—we tried the Chaychi and Blushing Turtle, and both were refreshing and unique. Huge thanks to Fili for the exceptional service—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for top-tier Thai food in Tulum!

My husband and I just had the most fantastic dinner at this Thai spot. Seriously, the food was a perfect 10/10—some of the best Thai we've ever had. We also loved the service and the location right near the beach, which gave it a really cool and relaxing feel. For anyone planning to go, here's a pro-tip: while the restaurant is near the Tulum National Park and there's a fee to enter during the day, the toll closes after 6 PM. If you have a reservation and arrive after that time, you can get in for free. Just be sure to have your reservation handy on your phone to show at the gate. It was an excellent dining experience!
