Hidden gem. Very quaint. We we were pleasantly delighted with Mezzo. My wife had an excellent crispy pork belly appetizer (we shared) and I had a wonderful Fois Gras with toasted bread and a really great red wine reduction sauce as an appetizer. The Fois was perfect. For dinner, I had the lamb chops and my wife had a really good - and generously big - ribeye steak. To top things off, we ordered the Mezzo affogato, with chopped nuts and a nut liqueur. It was a perfect way to top things off. The wine selection is good, but we opted to buy a really good bottle from Fujioka's wine shop, right next door, and pay the corkage. The ambiance is great....there was a jazz trio (was a third Thursday evening thing but I hear they are moving to third Monday's - check). While the staff were super nice and professional when they were attentive, they could have done a better job of looking around more often - there were gaps that were too long between service. We spend probably more than the average couple - we like variety and good food. If you do too, this place could be for you. We will certainly be back.

Met the owners behind the bar, they were very friendly and service was prompt ! They were so nice that they discounted us because we are new locals of Hawaii! Food was nothing short of amazing and prices were decent and affordable! We ordered: Garlic bread - was a 10/10 crispy, soft, super tasty, garlic was definitely Garlic cream shrimp scampi with mushrooms! 10/10 Definitely yummy ! I crave it! Perfectly cooked noodles, noodles to sauce ratio was on point! Sauce was so delicious you can taste the garlic perfectly cut with the cream!!! Nice big portion for 2 people ! Prosciutto pizza - 10/10 thin crust, lots of prosciutto! super ono !!! Oysters - 10/10 were amazing and super fresh! Tiramisu - 10/10 one of the best tiramisu on the island! Alcohol drinks were strong and affordable 10/10 Will definitely come back to this place and be a regular!

Went here with a few friends and coworkers to try. None of us has ate here before...we will go back here...nah, it was alright. Parking is convenient since they are located on market city center, however finding parking on a Friday immediately after work...is a bit challenging. The interior of the restaurant has an almost similar look to the previous restaurant formaggio wine bar. So not much effort on "change". Service was OK. There were times we were waiting and looking around for service, towards the end of the night, they came more frequent. Our drinks and food came out whenever it was ready. Our group of 5 people, we first ordered 3 different types of drink. It took awhile for all the drinks to come. I figured highballs took a while to make vs an old fashion that's why the highballs came out later... Food was good, Local style Italian type dishes. We ordered crispy pork belly, Mezzo board, bruschetta, and the Mediterranean pizza (small pizza for the price). All were delicious, the pork belly, Mezzo board, bruschetta are my favorite. They also adjusted the bruschetta order for the 5 of us, since it's usually 4 pieces, that was nice. The other dish in my photos was the special, I forgot the name but was seared fish with a mildly spiced sauce on a gray plate. It was delicious. With the addition of price, since we ordered lots of drinks, and was there from 6pm to 10pm, it was not bad. About 60 to 75 a person. As we were leaving, seems like lots of groups/parties come to this restaurant, I don't suggest it to be a date night...the groups, including myself was loud. Lastly, there were several dishes I still wanted to try, maybe I'll buy it for take out. Good size menu...everything is shareable.

This bistro could be easily missed but once you step in it feels like a charming bistro with a whiskey bar and dining area. Due to its location, they are not crazy busy despite the nice ambience. I made a reservation since it was Friday night but I think people could still walk in and there will still be space. I shared a 6" margerita pizza and garlic shrimp scampi pasta. Plating is really beautiful, our pizzas came on a wooden block. They also made a nice mocktail if you order one (not included in the menu). It is a quieter restaurant so it is perfect for date nights, deep conversations with friends or more intimate events.

We went to Mezzo Bistro & Bar to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. The food tasted very delicious. We enjoyed our meal very much. We will definitely come back again to try out the other food options.

This is the best restaurant in all the land! Great food, great service, great prices, parking was easy too. If I could rate it more than five stars, I would. Nathan, June & Johnny took such good care of us. The atmosphere is so comfortable, stylish and inviting. The food was top notch. We had the charcuterie board, the cheese mushroom bread, lamb, shimp scampi, tirmasu, the affagato coffee, all of it was incredibly tasty, every single dish was well made, well presented and the price of the entire experience was refreshing. Cheers to these guys making a great place to dine and enjoy time together. We are excited and eager to return for more . I'm happy and honored to write a review for such a fine establishment!

My family and I went to Mezzo Restaurant on September 12th, 2025 while celebrating a very special occasion my son proposed to his girlfriend that evening, and we had all flown out from California to share in the moment. The atmosphere was wonderful, warm, and inviting, which made it a perfect spot for such a memorable night. The service was on the slower side that was a bummer and it took a while for our food to come out, but once it arrived, everything was absolutely delicious. The garlic bread, in particular, was amazing so good that it deserves a spot as an option on the menu so guests can order extra. The restaurant itself was a little tricky to find with signage that wasn’t very clear, but once inside, we were glad we made the effort. Overall, it was a beautiful evening with outstanding food and a great atmosphere, and despite the slow service, the experience will always stand out as a wonderful part of our celebration.

You want a bar with a Cheers vibe. Look no further! This place should be on your list to check out. Friendly staff and serves Italian with a twist of Aloha! There are definitely gluten-free options. Being sensitive to gluten, it has been hard to eat out in Hawaii. But mezzo is willing to accommodate. Even though they do not have Gluten-free pizzas or pastas, most dishes can be substituted with rice 😁

A little hard to find but definitely a treasure. Absolutely a hole in the wall but I think it's better that way. Gives the establishment a huge WOW factor when you walk in. I meet a friend there around 1030p for drinks. The lighting inside already sets a calm chill mood when you walk in. Looks like a full bar cool with a cool custom built countertop. Good size TV that has sports on. The bartenders were AWESOME. Especially Annie!!! It's a good feeling when your bartender knows customers names when they walk in. That pretty much happened the whole time we were there. Annie made the drinks come alive with her bartending skills. From starting off with a napkin, shaking the drinks, garnishing, and even smoking the drinks. Annie absolutely put in a show. She even opened up a bag of peanuts from the Philippines for us. The service was exceptional and will definitely come back for dinner. Seeing the previous reviews and pictures I know the food is just a good as the drinks. They even have a karaoke mic going around with an iPad so you can sing from your seat. I don't really sing but everyone else did so I didn't want to ruin the rotation. I give this place 5 stars and will 100 percent come back to try the food and of course the drinks.

This review is long overdue. My bestie and I have been coming to Mezzo Bistro since its predecessor occupied the space. We have shared dozens of bottles of wine and plates of food while 'catching up' in this favorite and familiar spot. We've never left feeling disappointed. Mezzo is like our second home. And that's how it feels, like home. It's a come-as-you-are, don't-have-to-act kind of place. At the bar or at the tables, all the clientele seem comfortable and relaxed. There's nothing pretentious about the vibe. But, whether you're grabbing a bite on the way home, stopping for a quick cocktail (or two), or celebrating an occasion, Mezzo always feels special. They create a happy-you-came and sad-to-see-you-go atmosphere. Since it's usually a Pau Hana date, the bestie and I get parking no problem. We usually have reservations but even when we don't they welcome us quickly and warmly. They have a great selection of wines with affordable prices. They have a cool cocktail menu, too. I stopped here with my other bestie just to grab a cocktail at the bar before dinner reservations at another restaurant. Was quite pleased with my Prosecco aperitif. Food is well-prepared and the menu has a nice range. Vegetarians, pescatarians, and meat lovers can all find something to enjoy. We've enjoyed everything from just pupus to a full dinner, to splitting a salad and pasta. Mezzo is not trendy or fancy but it's not trying to be. It's a place you can savor with special friends, friends who are like Ohana, friends like my bestie who's been my ride or die for more than three decades. It's a place to share wine and food. It's a place to quietly and intentionally connect and celebrate. And because of that and their years of courteous and generous service, I'm giving them five stars! First time at Mezzo. Went on a Wednesday night so wine special prices! We enjoyed their yummy escargot and salad appetizers, scallops and risotto and garlic cream shimp scampi, and creme brulee and the tiramisu! All were delicious! Service was terrific...very attentive! They also have live music. Will be back!

Grazie... There's nothing more I enjoy than to hangout with my besties and as I secretly had my eye on Mezzo and Italian Restaurant and bar which is located on the lower level of Market City Shopping Center can be almost missed as the entrance is quite simple with a neon sign and not much more though the simplicity does end there. Walking in I do love the slight dimly lit vibe as it gives me the feeling of relaxation and escape though it's not dark but just a calmness as we were taken to our table the staff is very nice and welcoming. Their menu offerings as I enjoyed a unique twist like Crostini Al Porcini which is a crostini topped with mozzarella and mushrooms was a fresh bite as some of the arugula that is topped off gave it a nice bite. The Rib Eye steak which I still dream about which we asked to be sliced for us was done perfectly and the Demi sauce was very delicate yet so flavorful and what a hearty bite along with our Caesar salad a classic that you just can't go wrong. I've also had the Puttanesca which was delicious as the linguine cooked just right scooped up all the sauce and yes this was two different nights but enjoyed just a wonderfully as I'm so grateful to have thoughtful friends I'm so thankful for, thank you Terry K and Nadine C as Mezzo was a wonderful place to escape. Cheers my friends as I'm beyond happy for these moments as hearty and amazing as the food is here so are the memories. Thank you!

This is a cute spot for a date night or a cozy dinner where you can chat and not feel rushed or have a hard time getting a reservation. The service is awesome- very warm and friendly and the right amount of attentiveness. For a wine bar their wine list is not very impressive BUT it's also not outrageously priced which is appreciated in this day and age of other places charging almost $20 for a 3oz pour of mid-grade wine. Their charcuterie plate is a really generous sized plate of meats (salami and prosciutto, both good quality) and cheese (gouda, Parmesan and brie) and some fruit, olives and bread. Their bruschetta is very garlicky which I loved and the bread is buttered and toasted. I've tried 2 of their pastas at this point (once was takeout) and neither really impressed me so next time I'm going to order a meat dish and see how it goes. Their shrimp scampi alfredo mushroom pasta was not overly flavorful. The cream sauce was watery and I don't like button mushrooms when they are waterlogged. Pasta was overcooked. Shrimp were great tho. Overall I enjoyed the meal, and experience. Plenty of free parking! There's a Tamuras wine shop next door so you can get a bottle to go home with.

I've had people tell me for years to try mezzo, since they've reopened the space. My family of 6 ventured to the market city shopping center to spend Mother's Day dinner in this cozy wine bar and enjoyed fabulous live music, affordable Cocktails, and good vibes without all the frills. Highly recommend their tapas style apps, including the mushroom crustini and shrimp. Every entree from the lamb chops to seafood medley were well cooked and came out of the kitchen hot. The service was attentive but relaxed considering it was a busy night, and the clientele felt local, which is always a plus. The space itself is small so I'm not sure how crowded it gets on a non holiday weekend, but we were able to make reservations two weeks out without difficulty!

Everything was great!! The food, service, staff, and ambiance! It's always a chill vibe. A spot I'd want to hang out with family and friends or just a date night out in town! One of my go-to spots whenever we come back home from the 9th island!!

Mezzo had been on my radar since Joe Moore (KHON TV) mention that, he loves this restaurant. The restaurant and bar are dimly lit. But ample enough to see your dinner. We ordered the Mezzo Board ,which consisted of salami, prosciutto,olives and cheese. Also ordered the Crispy Pork Belly and an order of Escargot. All three appetizers were winners. For my entree, I had the Lamb Chops. My chops came out done. I ordered it medium rare. Still it was tender and flavorful. The demiglaz fell short. I prefer the lamb chops from Hys Steak House. Dessert I ordered their Mud Pie. Overall the service was good. And our group of five gave the food a thumbs up. Enjoy

Our first time here and it did not disappoint! Hidden a bit inside of a little shopping plaza, parking was plenty available and easy to walk to if needed. The restaurant itself has a white neon sign, super bright, but would recommend a color change that may be easier on the eyes or something that jumps out at you screaming Mezzo was there. We did have to circle around to find it. Once inside, looks and feels of a small Italian restaurant, decor on the walls were nice. Staff was friendly and able to get us seated immediately. Menu was extensive and had lots of yummy choices. Always ask for the specials as there a few of those too not listed on the menu. We started with Ahi Tartare and my oh my was that fresh! So good that we wanted to order another round! Duck was also a fantastic choice. Meat was tender and juicy; chutney flavoring made it sweet and delightful. Mezzo meatballs came out next along with the chicken piccata. Both were hot and yummy to eat. Would suggest for an italian fusion spot to maybe add a longer pasta menu with different types of pasta. Overall, food was very fresh, and very appetizing. Another suggestion would have been free bread with olive oil / vinegar if you wanted to be more upscale but was not a concern while here. Prices were actually cheaper than anything we had eaten all vacation, so this was very refreshing and will certainly be back! Our hostess Julia was super nice, friendly, bubbly. She had some great choices on menu selection, and we were happy to try the items she suggested! We will be back for sure on our next trip!

First time at this restaurant. The food was ok. Portions are small for the price. Would have been cheaper if we went to another Italian restaurant and each ordered our own entrees and a few appetizers. The crispy pork was over cooked. This is just my opinion.

Heard about this place from Joe Moore Khon TV anchor said he loves this place. So with that in mind since Gabes friends was going to meet for Christmas dinner I made reservations over here. They open at 5pm. The staff were busy after 5pm. The bar as well as the dining area. We started with appetizers the mezzo board, escargot, and crispy pork belly. Everything was good. Now for the entrees. I ordered sautéed opakapaka with vegetables. Gabe had rack of lamb, hes friend wife had garlic shrimp pasta, the husband had mezzo meatball pasta, and the other friend had what I had sautéed opakapaka. Everything was to their liking. We even ordered dessert mud pie, creme burlee. We got there at 5pm snd left at 8pm. Wow 3 hrs and they never rushed us out. Try them if you in the market city shopping center downstairs by Ben Franklin, fujiokas wine, and L and L BBQ

All the food was delicious. It looked and tasted amazing. The staff were all friendly and nice. The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable, so you could have a conversation and it had a nice adult classy and lowkey vibe.

We live in the area and didn't even know this place existed. We had a dinner date with our friends who are regulars here. It was our first time to this restaurant & our experience was amazing. The service was excellent. Food was tasty and drink selection was on point. It's a smaller intimate setting and feels homey. Price point is very reasonable. We will definitely be back more often and recommend our friends & family. They also do intimate private parties or buyouts. Plan your holiday or special occasion dinners ahead of time!

Been meaning to leave a review, finally getting to it. Lots of great food! Ambiance is comfortable. I love bringing friends and family who never been here before. We are always greeted warmly and the wait staff is very attentive. We absolutely love all the food items we tried.

Since I really liked my last visit, it took months for me to do this update with one less star. This time was also for a birthday and it was specifically noted in the reservation and also mentioned directly at the restaurant. However, the restaurant was busy and nothing was said or done unlike the last time. So that was disappointing. My favorite appetizer, the Escargot was still very good and I was happy about that. However, the Kampachi and vegetables came with, both were mediocre. Unfortunately, it was kind of a sad experience for me this time around, but the place is still decent and reasonable.

Such a hidden restaurant that I never knew existed but with great Italian and local fusion food. We came to celebrate a birthday and made a reservation. For apps we had escargot and fried pork belly. Escargot was so buttery and delicious and loved the bread it comes with. The fried pork belly was also good but not outstanding. For my main I got the shrimp scampi which had big shrimp pieces but I think the stand out for me was again the bread. The pasta was good but nothing super special or outstanding to me. For dessert we got tiramisu, mud cake, and a complimentary pie to share. Desserts were such a hit and I really loved the mud pie. Overall this was a nice dinner with good service and lowkey environment. Seemed like there were a lot of regulars and locals. Prices were fair and lots of parking outside.

It was a busy Friday night, live music, you could tell most people were regulars and you know you get that feeling the food is gonna be good. We were lucky we were able to get a table an hour before going in. I believe he was the host and he let us sit down on a high table and we asked if we could sit at another ground level table and just needed to clean it. As soon as it got cleaned, another couple walked in and took the seat. Oh well. I wish I could remember what we ordered but I do remember everything was flavorful and hot out of the kitchen. It was my second time to this establishment and I do plan to visit again!

Love this place! Great food and wonderful service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere! Mahalo Mondays is great too! My favorite is the escargot, chicken piccata with Caesar salad and a cocktail! The affogato for dessert tops off the great meal!

This place is small but big enough to have a party of about 10 people or more. The food was fantastic ribeye looked so good and my friend said it was the best so next time I'm there that's going to be my dinner. It's a full bar and had a great wine list. Parking is free and there's a ton of places to park. The server was Johnny on the spot every time my drink was low he was there. There was a guy playing guitar and even with him playing it was not to loud. He was great and took requests and nailed every time he played. Over all 5 out of 5

Came here for a quick eats before dinner. I suggest you do reservation as this place usually is packed and we were lucky that they accepts us. We were greeted and the staff were awesome. They were friendly & efficient. They come to our table to check us and always make sure we are comfortable & that the food we ordered were good. Food: Pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto with fresh arugula) - it was served on a naan bread crust and tbh, it was pretty good. The crust has a good crunch on it and it was thin. It is perfectly made and love the salty cheesy balance on it. Definitely worth the try. Crispy Pork Belly - it was served with a calamansi dipping sauce and perfectly fried. The sound of every bite is so tempting and you can't stop having another slice. It was so good that I can come back here just for this. LoL. Escargot (made with garlic butter & topped with mozzarella & baked) - definitely my favorite! Goodness, it was so tasty & savory. It has an earthy flavor with a slightly chewy texture and the seasoning just added the wonderful tastes overall. Overall it was a pleasant experience & price was reasonable. Recently, our friend posted some photos of this restaurant and within two days we come here to try because the food looks pretty good. this restaurant located at market city bottom level, plenty of parking. The decoration inside of restaurant makes you feel like you are inside a wine cellar. First of all we love escargot. If the restaurant has escargot, we will go to the restaurant try. It is pretty good, the baked cheese form up nicely on top with melted butter, I will give it a 8 out of 10. My wife ordered the filet mignon, medium rare and they cooked the steak perfectly. I do feel like the size of the steak is a little bit on the small side. I ordered the chicken breast piccata. I was a little bit cautioned when I pick this chicken breast dish, however I must say they cooked the chicken breast perfectly, I also do think the portion of the pasta a little bit too small. Overall, the service is nice, people seem friendly over there, they do have an open bar area. You can sit down and have a drink. It was a Saturday night when we went, but the restaurant wasn't that busy. Over rating is 7 out of 10 for me.

Pretty decent food the evening we went! Great friendly service with live music. The restaurant had no windows so it could be a little dim. I feel like it could use a bit more decor to make add more warmth to it. My favorite items there were the mud pie and surf and turf. The filet mignon was very tender and juicy and the lobster was delectable. We also tried their escargot, foie gras, duck breast. The escargot could use a bit more herbs, the foie gras was mostly fat and not much liver, not very good quality, and the duck breast was cooked almost like in Cantonese style? Too much hoisin sauce for me. Overall nice evening to celebrate my birthday in a small, local restaurant.

Food excellent as well as service. Highly recommended. Good selection of entrees. Fish prepared Chinese style and lamb were both great!

Official Keto Prescription Review! Been meaning to come here for a while since it's nearby. Lots of free parking in the Market City Shopping Center. We were able to beat the crowd with a 5:45pm reservation. Johnny is one of the owners and served us all night. He knows I'm keto so was able to accommodate us perfectly. We started with the crispy pork belly which was perfectly cooked. The vinegar sauce has Calamansi lime added to it which gave it a nice flavor. Nice twist. I was hoping to order the escargot, but apparently there's been a shortage for a couple months. I wonder what's up with all the snail farms? Really wanted to try the meatballs minus the pasta so he suggested it "pupu style." The sauce was so good that I pretty much cleaned my bowl of it. It's a light, very slightly creamy mushroom sauce that paired well. The meatballs were accompanied by mushrooms, artichoke hearts and a small amount of spinach. I would order this again. Jeff order the braised short ribs minus the mashed potatoes and liked it. The meat was tender and it came with what tasted like a red wine reduction sauce. He was full when we left. It's nice to support a local business who's open to modifying menu items for low carb/keto people. Next up, trying to convince them to offer zucchini noodles in place of pasta or a keto pizza crust. Their pizzas look so good!

I came with my girlfriends late after a night of drinking and I was so surprised on their menu. Sadly , I'm not a wine-drinker or anything alcohol-drinker but I very much enjoyed the food here! We came here late so the kitchen was going to close but the staff and owner were soooooo nice to us and allowed us to order a bit of food before doing last call! I definitely will come back for an earlier dinner to try their food!!! So many things were so good and I'm dying to go back!

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of celebrating our cousin's milestone 50th surprise birthday at Mezzo Bistro and Bar! It was our first time coming, and I immediately fell in love with the cozy bistro vibes and wood work on the walls. What I did not know is they have a whiskey bar...  I was quite impressed with their high quality liquor selection! Back to the food though... I must say, a private party is the most excellent way to try a lot of different dishes at one time. The night's spread consisted of: Ahi Poke (sea salt, onion, sesame seeds oil and green onion) House Salad (greens and fresh tomatoes, mixed with basil and garlic and topped with a refreshing classic vinaigrette dressing) w/Bruschetta topping (fresh tomato, basil, garlic and olive oil) available on the side for bonus flavor! Margherita Pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella and a basil pesto on Naan bread) Mezzo Meatball (pork meatballs in a demi-glace sauce with spinach, artichoke hearts and onions) Garlic Cream Shrimp Scampi (with onion and mushrooms) Braised Shortribs (with mushrooms in a demi-glace sauce) Mama mia! Everything was delicioso, I could not pick a favorite!  The Braised Short Ribs were fork tender, no knife needed! Jun, Jane and crew were amazing, and did everything to ensure we had a great time. Jun even entertained as he made cocktails at the bar! Mezzo is the perfect place for a nice dinner with your special someone, family and/or friends, colleagues, or hosting a celebration. There is live music every Thursday, and the bar is open late. Stop on by for a visit!

You walk in and it's such a great vibe like you're walking into a winery cellar! Food was so good! Small plates, small prices for the delicious tastes! We had the: Smoked duck - I had to hold myself back from eating it all and be nice to share since it was family style Caesar salad - I liked it but for others just a note it has a strong mustard taste, rather than normal Caesar Margarita pizza - served so cute on a wooden slab. Loads of sauce and cheese!! It definitely isn't those naked margarita pizza where you can see the crust from the top at all, but was probably half an inch high! Prosciutto mozzarella pesto balls with bread - it's like a substance for Italian cuisine! You can't go wrong The wine ... wine Wednesday where it's $10 off a bottle of so, epic!! I love Italian wine list because it feels so special (and it was good!) as well as the Californian cab. I need to write it down next time. But don't worry the servers (Hi Johnny!) are awesome!! Super helpful and attentive without being in your face bedside when I go out it's chatting up some spicy flavored dish with the girls that may not be appropriate for eavesdroppers. Overall I'll see you another Wednesday!! Go check them out! They need to stay in business please!

Friday is our 'date night' so this week, hubby and I made our way back to Mezzo. We decided before walking in that it would a pupu-share night to ensure that we'd converse with each other instead of focusing completely on one dish. We ordered our favs ... the mushroom crostini, crispy pork, escargot and, to not feel so guilty, we ordered the Cesar salad. We certainly were not disappointed. Just need to remember to ask for 'easy on the dressing' next time. So hubby was pretty hungry and prime rib was on the menu. They were kind and accommodating when we asked if was possible to order a 'pupu side order - sliced'. Without a blink and with a smile, the answer was 'yes we can do that!' About the prime rib ... they did a great job slicing it into bite-sized pieces. It was sooo good but, I only had a few pieces because hubby was enjoying it so much, I didn't want to spoil the happy look on his face. In the end of course, we could not pass up the Mezzo Affogato. So yummy! I did not let a drop go to waste. We will be back soon.

Cozy little wine bar/restaurant with eclectic menu. Reasonably prices wine list and full bar with some cute specialty cocktails. Drinks were a little slow in arriving. Short-ribs not as soft as we expected. Kampachi was interesting but not exceptionally flavorful. We were disappointed that the online description of the salmon entree wasn't available. Corkage available at $30 a bottle is not bad. Creme brûlée was thick and tiny. Meatballs were flavorful. Escargot pieces were generous but cheese topping a little burnt. Clearly there are some regulars that love the place and live music brought back memories from the 70's and 80's - in a nice way. They have a special bottle price on wine on Wednesdays.

Dinner celebration in Kaimuki, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friends wanted to get together and Donna O. made another great suggestion to meet at Mezzo. Daniel had always wanted to go there; I had walked past it and not known what it was; while Peter had been to Mezzo several times. Donna made reservations for the opening time of 5pm. We arrived early to get better parking in the free shared parking lot. Located across from Kaimuki High School at Market City Shopping Center (on the lower level with Ben Franklin Crafts) on Kaimuki Avenue, the white fluorescent sign in the window might be challenging to find. Look for the red Tanioka's sign and Mezzo will be on the right. Service was very welcoming, friendly, attentive, and helpful. We told the server that it was our friends' wedding anniversary and they placed a lit candle on the Mud Pie! How thoughtful! Some of us ordered appetizers to share: 1. Pepperoni pizza Special was $8 - it had thin, crisp crust - delicious! 2. Escargot - it had six pieces of toast for each of the six cheesy escargot! Perfect! 3. Crostini - topped with fresh mushrooms and mozzarella - yummy! Some of us got entrees to share: 1. Lamb - Special of the Day - tender and tasty! 2. Prime rib - moist and filling 3. Braised Short Ribs - my favorite of the evening! Seasoned well and accompanied by mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies! The couple of the night had the Mud Pie and let everyone have a bite and more! We all had fun in an elegant, air conditioned, quiet, and pleasant environment!

After a year of driving by this place, I decided to give this place a try. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you enter, it opens up to a large restaurant. We entered around dinner time so the main dining room was full so we sat in the front, before you get to the bar, by the barn doors. I wanted something good so I ordered the prime rib. It arrived on a bed of au ju sauce, fine mash potatoes zucchini, carrot and horseradish on the side. The prime red was cooked to a perfect medium and melted in mouth. I savored every bite because I wasn't over burdened with huge sides that I normally ordered. Great quality, friendly service, will be back to try other items on the menu.

The Mud Pie was amazingggg!! I was looking on Yelp specifically where I could get this dessert. It was close by and open later when I was craving it! Conveniently located in the Makiki Shopping Village, downstairs in the back by Ben Franklin's. Parking is super open and easy to find.

Mezzo Bistro & Bar is located on the ground floor in Market City Shopping Center. They are to the right of Fujioka's Wine Times when facing the business from the parking lot. It was formally Formaggio Wine Bar. The layout of the restaurant is the same as Formaggio Wine Bar but there is no stage area for live music (at least not when we went). Lighting was brighter than Formaggio Wine Bar and my eyes didn't have to struggle to see the menu or adjust much. The walls had modern and trendy artwork to decorate the space. Customer service was good and consistent all night. It seems that they have a lot of regulars and the regulars know each other which was nice. We decided to share so we could get a good tasting of the menu. Our order was Escargot, Crostini Ai Porcini, Pepperoni Pizza, Prime Rib, Rack of Lamb, Braised Shortribs, Mud Pie and a friend ordered Mezzo Prime Rib Loco Moco. The food was prepared perfectly and was delicious. I didn't get to try the Mezzo Prime Rib Loco Moco but everything else was legit. My personal favorites in order were Rack of Lamb, Prime Rib then Braised Shortribs. The Pepperoni Pizza on naan bread was quite good and my favorite of the appetizers. I didn't try the Mud Pie but I heard that was just ok. Great new spot in Market City Shopping Center with delicious food. 4.5 stars!

Food was delicious, we had salmon served with pasta and vegetables. One dish was with marinara, the other with a chef light butter sauce with spinach. Side of garlic bread and perfectly paired with pinot grigio spirit. Service was homey, attentive, mom and pop shop that has been established for 3 years.

In Hilo, there used to be a place called Harringtons. They had a number of dishes that we considered awesome - but the #1 amazing dish was escargot. It was an exotic thing to eat at the time. Over the years, my wife and I have had escargot at different restaurants all over the mainland. Something about all of that gooey goodness! Well, here comes Mezzo. So many reviews saying the escargot was great! So when we went there, we ordered TWO orders sight unseen - well we saw it on Yelp! It was as good as they say. Here's the thing.... they give the correct number of pieces of bread!!! For some reason, no one does this. I mean, if you have 6 escargot, you want 6 bread! Mezzo gets it right and you can take your time and dip the bread into the goodness that is in that dish. YES, IT IS GOOD!!!!!!!! Just order it. AWESOME! Cheesy, buttery, awesomeness. We also got the crispy pork and yes, it is crispy!!!! It looks great and tastes great! The salad was fresh, and the pizza..... It was on Naan bread and was tasty! It wasn't that big, but it did fill you up! They have a nice selection of drinks too! Service was very, very good and the interior was nice! The had a number of great sounding specials but we wanted to try the staple items and I have no doubt everything they make tastes good! So.... stand out escargot and great dishes! Another great place to eat at!

Love their food and ambience, great family restaurant tucked away in market city. Restaurant staff are thoughtful and very attentive!

Excellent food and ambience as well as the service. It's not a fine dining place so you can wear all casual wear. However the food is sophisticated and elaborate. 4/2/2023 we tried the Kumamoto oysters and kampachi fish - both excellent. My teenage son enjoyed the prime beef loco moco which was very large in portion and it was delicious. We also tried scampi pasta (OK), Caesar salad (10/10), bruschetta (good appetizer). Finally the mud pie was huge! It was enough for 3 people I think. Also the tiramisu was good! Will definitely return!

Monday was a great night to dine, as there was lots of parking, it wasn't crowded, and the noise level was perfect. In looking around, I can see how it can get noisy because the place is relatively small with solid walls. Yet, Monday wouldn't be the night to come because they don't serve the prime rib that is on their menu. Food was five stars. For appetizers, we had the mushroom crostini and pork belly. Lots of earthy mushrooms piled on each crostini, which was crunchy but not scratch the roof of your mouth hard. The pork belly was tender and moist, made all the better with the calamansi dipping sauce. Both dishes were close your eyes and enjoy every bite kind of good. We also had the caprese salad and Mediterranean pizza. The caprese was had all the ingredients in perfect proportion to keep flavors balanced and refreshing. The pizza was ok. It was smaller than I thought it would be...think personal size. Flavor was good with the amount of toppings. Crust was crunchy, tho I thought it was slightly burnt tasting. Dessert was a huge slice of mud pie. Definitely something sharable...we had to keep tasting it to make sure it was good the whole way through Service was the reason for the loss of a star. The first server we had was awesome...attentive and helpful. He even left what was left of a bottle of rose, after pouring my friend's glass. About midway through our meal, he was no longer helping us, as he stayed behind the bar. As we finished our entrees, no one came to check in us, though the table next to us got looked in upon. We actually had to stack our dishes as a signal we were dobe and wave a server down. When we asked him for a dessert menu, he never came back. So, we had to ask another server for the dessert menu. It was the same for getting our check. The second guy server was irksome... completely oblivious and others filling in for his lapse. Other than that, I would return for a good meal and a hopefully quiet evening.

Last min dinner decision ... Heard about it! Had to try! Walked in at opening time and luckily got a table! Our server, Nathan and Lasaedi was very nice and helpful!!! We had fun showing them Magic and talking story about travel. We all had an explosion of flavor in every dish! WOW! Rich with the butter! Can't eat like this too often, but what a treat!!! You can tell it all pairs well with wine but we didn't have alcohol. The desserts where excellent too. See pics Def, recommend this place for HH, date night or special occasions. Mahalo Mezzo!

I'm surprised this place has the Yelp rating they have honestly. Its probably deserving of between 3 and 4 stars. The menu is somewhat interesting but it was actually hard to figure out what to eat. I try to avoid eating pasta because we go to La Cuccina way to much and are really spoiled over there. Places like this have pasta dishes, but they just don't compare. You can't beat handmade pasta unless you have an unbelievable sauce. We ended up getting no apps (escargot looked good if you like snails, and the crostini al porcini also looked tasty), no salads (because caprese is so easy to make yourself, caesar I refuse to eat unless dressing is made in front of me, and there's nothing special about a house salad) We asked the waiter what he recommended and he said to get the Mezzo Meatball with the Puttanesca sauce. The clearly homemade sauce was actually pretty good.. The meatballs were lukewarm at best, and tasted like they were previously frozen. I could be wrong on that, but they didn't taste homemade. Don't name a dish after your restaurant if the meatballs in that dish aren't homemade. Just a tip. Also I thought the portion size was very small. La Cuccina would have given twice the pasta and it would have been freshly made pasta. We got the fish special which was a sautéed onaga in a lemon butter caper sauce. This one was the problem. The fish was actually really, really good. Perfectly cooked. However, the sauce wasn't even lukewarm. It was room temperature at best. The dish came with a small portion of vegetables and a tiny amount of pasta which wasn't tossed in sauce and wasn't warm. It was very bizarre. I've never seen anything like this. Apparently the fish was sautéed without the sauce. Clearly they cooked the fish, put some cold sauce on the plate, then put some pasta on top of the cold sauce. That brings me to another thing. Service was lacking. It took 15 minutes to get waters, another 15 minutes to take the order. Eventually after we were nearly done with the entrees a waitress asks how the food was. I was honest with her. She calls the manager over and we explain it to them. Its my policy to NEVER send food back unless its a big chain restaurant. Trust me, small restaurants unless they are Michelin starred or something DO NOT SEND FOOD BACK. Anyway, to their credit they did comp a drink and desert. Which brings me to the mud pie. Obviously not made in house. Few places do that. But it wasn't properly frozen. It was really really soft. Kinda like if you took it out of the freezer and let it sit on the counter for 15 minutes. Anyway, it was comped. Total bill with tip still was $80 for two dishes. Would I go back? If a group of friends wanted to go there I'd go. If it was my choice I probably would not go. Again, I'm pretty shocked this place has a 4.5 star rating. However you can take comfort in that if you DO GO THERE, and something is wrong, just be polite and honest and let them know, and they likely will make things right. That in itself speaks volumes about management of the place, and that is why I am rating them on the high end of my scale, at 4 stars.

Stopped in on a Saturday night and we were fortunate to get a table for 4. They were able to accommodate Papa's wheelchair, no problem. The tables were nicely spread out. Soothing music playing in the background. Low lighting for a relaxing ambiance. Location: Kapahulu, Market City Shopping Center, on the Ben Franklin Side next to L&L Parking: Lots of Free parking right in front. ADA parking for Papa. Service: Friendly & accommodating What we ordered: Appetizer: Escargot, Tasty-5/5 Surf and Turf - 5/5, filet cooked a perfect medium, and sh Shrimp Scampi - 5/5 Shrimps we're perfectly cooked, not overdone. Mezzo Meatballs-3/5 Dessert: Mezzo Adffogato-5/5 I highly recommend checking this place out. We will be back for Happy Days and a bottle of wine!

Honestly not understanding why the reviews for this place are so good. First off it's listed as an Italian restaurant, I'd say it had some Italian dishes but it didn't scream Italian. We got the bruschetta which was pretty good but the toppings looked like that had just been thrown onto. We also got the foie gras, but it was extremely fatty and just very hard to cut through which I thought was unusual. Our entrees were just alright. Nothing to memorable. And our server left before we did. We were finishing up there just a little after they closed but I thought that was so odd especially how she didn't really even give us a proper good or explain that she was passing her off to the boss. The manager seemed much more informative about the menu and details of the entrees. Though I would say the server needed much more work. I don't think I will be coming back. Just seems like the restaurant needs a little bit of a touch up.

Dined here to attend a performance at Kaimuki High School which is right across the street. My friend chose this restaurant because she knows I am picky about parking. It's a me thing! Located in the Market City Shopping Center, there is ample parking available fronting the restaurant as well as upstairs. My friend made a reservation to ensure we had a table. Everything we tried, was absolutely delicious. We shared the Crostini Ai Porcini, Oysters on a half shell, Escargot, Kampachi with lemon caper sauce and the Prime Rib so we were able to try several dishes. Everything was Yummos and devoured! The restaurant was so gracious to bring extra bread to sop up the rich butter with bits of porcini from the escargot. This particular preparation by Mezzo was perfectly prepared and would definitely order on every visit. The escargot is a must! I am excited to return to try many more dishes. Did not try any desserts on this visit, but enjoyed the coffee. Be prepared to wait a bit because we were told they only have one machine so believe they prepare the coffee using an Espresso machine. Worth the wait. Love the relaxed atmosphere, yet be able to enjoy well executed entrées! I will be back!

This was our first time dining here at Mezzo, and they knocked it out of the park! Located in the 'back' of Market City Square, they are next to Ben Franklin's. Good amount of parking that is free and the lot felt safe and well maintained. When you walk in there is a nice little waiting area for when the bistro is busy. On a Sunday night at 5pm we were one of the first diners at opening, but the space was nicely decorated and designed so it didn't have a weird feeling of emptiness I've encountered in other restaurants. I had made reservations for our party of four two nights prior so we were seated right away by a friendly host. All of the staff were accommodating and they made sure to take very good care of us. Available but not encroaching. Simply very good at their jobs. We started with the Mezzo Board, and some cocktails. The charcuterie board was well balanced and delicious. And each drink was served perfectly. Beef medallions were tender, Kampachi entree was cooked just right and well balanced with the accompanying vegetables and tofu. Shrimp pasta with mushrooms was tasty and made perfectly as well. There was definitely a great cook in back!! It was so great to have not a single thing out of order on each plate. Perfect execution!! Textures and tastes were incredible. For dessert we opted for the Mezzo Affogato. They made a mean espresso for this dish. Lots of mmmms and sighs while we savored this treat. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, food, service, and overall aesthetic of this restaurant and are very pleased to have come. I will definitely be back! A short out and big Mahalo to Johnny Giovanni for such amazing care. Even with a sore ankle. We appreciate you and your team.
