This restaurant caught our eye as we were walking by. It looked nice from outside so we looked at the menu. It wasn’t in English, but we could guess. We both fancied Italian, so we went in.
Inside the decor was amazing. Red curtains, red and gold everywhere and a fake fire. The lanterns and low lighting creates a romantic ambience. The music was jazz which was nice. We had our order taken and sat looking around the room. We ordered a beer and a Long Island ice tea cocktail. The cocktail was ok.
For food, we ordered two lots of carbonara.
They were presented with sticks coming out which looked like big antennas! Seemed strange - It definitely doesn’t need those for presentation.
The food was okay, nothing special. I feel like it didn’t match the restaurant decor’s wow factor.
My partner wasn’t too happy that my plate was collected before he had finished eating. I’m not sure if it’s different in Morocco, but it’s restaurant etiquette to wait for both/all customers to finish their food before taking plates away.
And then after my partner snapped at the waiter that he hadn’t finished his food yet, he was put off and didn’t want to eat any more. Buf even though his knife and fork were in finish position, his plate was not collected and was left on the table when we left.
They looked unhappy when we left, my guess is they were confused with what my partner was saying or because we hadn’t tipped.
It’s a shame, because it looks such a nice restaurant. Just needs better food and service.
