Part of the mini boutique hotel boom happening in the quiet hilltop neighborhood of Santa Teresa, this former derelict mansion has 44 rooms, all with wood floors, and sun-filtering shutters that nod to the tropical without hitting guests over the head with it. Yes, the service can be uneven—veering between over-attentive and indifferent—but the 80-foot pool, with its view over Santa Teresa’s stately villas to the glittering waters of Guanabara Bay, and lush gardens more than make up for it. The spa here is worth checking out, too."

This hotel is delightful. Rio is great city but quiet is nice also. After being around all the people all day this 'oasis' is perfect. The grounds are lovely, the rooms and accomodations are superior. And to top it offer, every single member of the staff we interfaced with was professional, friendly and super willing to do whatever to make you happy. Fantastic!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Santa Teresa, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was absolutely wonderful and courteous, always going above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Their professionalism and warm hospitality truly made a difference. Many of the staff also spoke English, which made it incredibly easy for guests who don’t speak Portuguese to feel comfortable and well taken care of. The room was stunning—spacious, beautifully designed, and impeccably clean. It had a perfect blend of elegance and comfort, making it a serene retreat after exploring the area. Every detail seemed carefully thought out to provide a luxurious and relaxing atmosphere. The food was nothing short of fantastic. Every meal was a culinary delight, with fresh ingredients and an exquisite presentation that made dining there a highlight of my stay. One dish in particular stood out—the octopus paired with ratatouille. It was absolutely delicious, with the tender, flavorful octopus perfectly complementing the rich, vibrant flavors of the ratatouille. Truly a masterpiece! I also loved the convenience of the hotel’s layout. The bar, dining area, and spa were all located along the same staircase, making it easy to move between these spaces and enjoy everything the hotel has to offer without hassle. I can’t recommend Hotel Santa Teresa enough. It’s the perfect destination for anyone seeking a combination of exceptional service, gorgeous accommodations, and unforgettable dining experiences. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Visited this place during my ramble in Santa Theresa and what a gem of a place it is. Beautiful and tastefully curated interior. I had the buffet breakfast along with some side orders of freshly cooked eggs Benedict w/salmon and a fully loaded omelette along with a host of patisserie sides and two cups of iced latte. Suffice to say I was beyond chilled after it all and couldn’t move as I was so full lol if you are in Santa Teresa, be sure to stop by at this place and you will be rewarded. If you are lucky enough to be served by the kind, polite and attentive Arnoldo then your visit will be complete.

For my 40th birthday, I decided to treat myself to a special urban getaway and chose MGallery to spend the day with my boyfriend. William and the reception team were incredibly thoughtful and ensured I had an unforgettable experience at the hotel. My room was beautifully prepared with a surprise for my big day: a heartfelt message written on the mirror and a delicious cake waiting for me upon arrival. These thoughtful touches made my day even more memorable, and I would absolutely do it again!

Our five days in this beautiful, well maintained, warm & friendly hotel were so delightful we plan to visit again in the future! The hotel staff are all so accommodating and helpful with anything we needed to make our time spent there so nice. The spa is fabulous and I highly suggest booking treatments while you are there. We also really love that the town is such a short walk down the hill, you don’t feel like you have to take an Uber to go out for something to eat or drink. There are quite a few great places to eat in town and the locals are all so nice!! Thank you all so much for making our stay so enjoyable!!!!!!!

We had lunch here and the food was excellent. We went for the set menu paired with Rose. Scallops followed by lamb and sorbet. The location is also perfect. The service by Ana was top drawer and she helped us plan our evening ahead for a night of samba at a local bar.

A beautiful and welcoming hotel in the perfect location in Santa Teresa. The rooms feel luxurious as they should do and the pool is the perfect place to unwind with a caipirinha or two after a day in the city. ||The staff were also the best, William was incredibly helpful in taking time to help us out

My family and I are so impressed by the hotel and service. This hotel is so tasteful and a wonderful oasis to return to after an adventurous day in Rio. The breakfast experience is something we look forward to and our waiter Aroldo is very pleasant and always treats us to mimosas!
