Upon ordering a simple glass of mineral water, I was shocked to find it priced at $8—nearly as expensive as a $9 tap beer. Moreover, the glass was substantially filled with ice, further diminishing the value. This pricing strategy not only seems unreasonable but also raises serious questions about the integrity of the establishment's pricing system. When I requested a menu or price list to verify these costs, I was informed that no such documentation was available. This absence of visible pricing is not only unprofessional but also legally dubious. In California, it is a requirement under the California Retail Food Code, Section 114259.5, for establishments to provide customers with a clearly visible price list, ensuring transparency and customer awareness. The receipt I received at the end of my visit further compounded these concerns. It lacked clarity, failing to itemize the charges clearly, which made it impossible to understand exactly what I was being billed for. This practice of not providing a detailed and clear receipt violates California’s laws on business transparency and could be seen as deliberately misleading. Given these experiences, I am seriously considering legal action against such malpractice. This is not just about recovering a few dollars but about holding a business accountable for fair and transparent dealings. To those reading this review, I urge you to think twice about patronizing a business that allows such dubious practices. Supporting an establishment that fails to uphold basic legal and ethical standards contributes to a culture of dishonesty and undermines customer trust.

Despite not having my strong played, the rock band was very awesome. The dance music from the dj (the drummer) was perfect for the crowd age demographic. The service from waiter was awkward, i think because i miscalculated my tip to %15. However, the bar tender girls were on point with their service. Parking is behind the building. The place felt a little exclusive, but in no way did that make us feel uncomfortable.

Well this place does have a quite refreshing vibe and honestly is quite impeccable, HOWEVER it does not get as packed as I thought it would, it is 9:50 pm and it is quite dead yet I have my doubts. Hopefully does flourish as the night goes on however I do fell disappointed I may comeback ONLY if invited but not on my own.

Always have a live band on the weekends.

My boyfriend and I are regulars at this bar. We love the environment and music is always a vibe. We decided to take my mother here since she loves rock en espanol. The vibes were vibing to say the least until a group that was next to us decided to start problems. The girl very much drunk kept pushing us i let it go until she decided to push me then my mom, she turned around to yell at moms so I obviously jumped in cuz hello you're not going to try and fight moms. Fight broke out the male that was in this group hit a bunch of other girls then the security on duty that night grabbed me where tbh i thought he was going to throw me on the floor when i kept trying to tell him he could just tell me to leave there was no need to him to squeeze me when i wasn't aggressive with him, since in if the person isnt resisting you there no need to be overly aggressive in trying to escort someone out of a place, the security left bruises on my arm from how tight he was squeezing. A whole bunch of girls ran out that night to tell him that the male in that group physically hit them and he simply didn't care enough about that. Moral is a male can hit a bunch of girls and not get physically thrown out but if you try to defend yourself as a female you get thrown out.... Como que not a vibe.

Don't let the size fool you. The old saying of great things come in small packages completely applies. Great live band, excellent music/DJ system so even during breaks the beats don't stop. Great service with good drinks. This little gem will certainly continue to grow.

I had a wonderful time on Saturday. me. Dishwasher and Ms. Compana were very cool. Friends seemed cool and to have a good time. Had a really great band and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Insert Wayan’s brothers endorsement.

Honestly wanted to give this 5+ stars but due to my experience I felt it deserved -1 * let me start off with how amazing this place is and the atmosphere and the music is crazy amazing! But the bartender needs hella improvement and was highly unprofessional her name was Sonya or to tonia I’m not sure had hair to her shoulders. Highly unprofessional, rude and I could tell I wasn’t the only one who felt sick after drinking the drink she had made me after getting on her bad side. Cameras need to be watched. Serve warning to not order open drinks around her to be safe. Her actions could cause a lawsuit for the bar itself hopefully the issue at hand gets dealt with!

Great live music Spanish rock bands. Outside area is convenient when you need a little break or fresh air.

3/18/2025 - Mi Barra San Diego: Where the Drinks Are Strong and the Band Plays Even Stronger If you're looking for a quiet night out, Mi Barra is not the place for you. But if you want strong drinks, a killer live band, and a night that might require some next-day storytelling to piece together--congratulations, you've found your spot. The bartenders? They pour like they want you to dance. And after a couple of those drinks, you will dance--whether you meant to or not. The live band? Absolute fire. They had the whole place moving, singing, and possibly making new best friends we'll never see again. By the end of the night, our voices were hoarse, our drinks were empty (again), and we left with zero regrets--except maybe not pacing ourselves. 10/10, would happily recover from this experience again.

No food Service is excellent the owner he's cool And the rock band is awesome my wife and me love how they play and the girl can sing.

First time here and what can I say but fun place. Little small but the vibe is what makes it. Live 80's Rock En Español, need I translate lol. Pretty good place to hang out, have a drink and enjoy with friends. Would recommend to all to come check out and have fun.

Waaaaaaaaay too loud, small venue for the band to be so loud, WOW!! The bartender had to come from behind the bar to hear what we were ordering. Drink prices were crazy too, two drinks $27, don't get me wrong the music was great but way too loud, I must be getting old. Thanks.

Last weekend I went there. Everything was fine until when I tried to pay for the last beer, the bartender told me that she couldn't pass my card, I spoke to the owner who apparently tried two more times. I tried to pay with Apple Pay and they don't accept it, I didn't have cash, the card is a business card. so there was no chance that he would not have funds. but the owner made me feel bad, saying that if I didn't have money I shouldn't order the beer. until it occurred to me to ask if she had Venmo or Zelle. She told me to Venmo then I paid, I spoke to my bank to complain. At the bank they told me that my card had no problem. So the problem was on their side, they tried to humiliate me because I didn't have the money to pay and the problem was on their side, there are ways to solve a problem, they never gave me payment options like Venmo Zelle. But he did try to humiliate me by telling me not to order beer if I didn't have money. It was only 10 dollars for the last beer that I didn't even try, I left it there.

Tried to go here to celebrate a friends birthday and was turned away because my wheelchair bound cousin, who is a disabled veteran, had his service dog with him. We explained that she is a service dog and is legally allowed to go anywhere with my cousin but the owner/manager still turned us away. This is highly illegal and we will be taking legal action.

Great place for live music and staff is very friendly. Parking is a little weird but its worth it.

Been here twice before to see the live band play. Music is good. Drinks are ok. Was hoping this would be the go to local spot. But the owner here is a straight up creeper. I was with my wife and my sister and the owner kept coming by our table and dancing and trying to get close to us. we didn't know he was the owner at the time and we thought he was just a drunk annoying uncle. Eventually he crossed the line when he grabbed my wife I immediately stood up smacked his hand away and asked him to leave. He left only to return with security claiming I attacked him and kicked us out. So if you come here you either let him grope your ladies or get kicked out. Disgusting. Never returning.

When I found out there was a bar with rock en español, specifically live band, I knew I had to check it out. Mi Barra is a small pretty hidden place across the street from Northgate. This place is a lot smaller than other places with live bands, or other bars in general. If you are planning on going with a big party; anything more than 4 people just know you might have to split up or push some tables together if possible. Nonetheless, the band was awesome! They played many great rock en español hits, and added their own twist to other songs to make them rock, ska, reggae. They interacted with the crowd and pumped everyone up, at one point there were people dancing (although there is no actual dance floor), people hugging and singing together, it was a good time. When looking over their menu, I noticed they have an assortment of mojitos; specifically tamarind mojitos which isn't commonly seen. It. Was. Delicious. Possibly one of the best tamarind drinks I've had, for some reason, many places don't know how to make an alcoholic beverage with this ingredient but Mi Barra definitely got it right. They also have other flavors and other drinks.. Oh.. And beer, if you're into that. Meh. Parking can be grim. There is a small lot assigned to the bar. Security said parking in Northgate across the street was no problem but there is a tow sign saying customers only... Sooooo.. Proceed at your own risk. I will definitely be returning for more tamarind mojitos and a good rock en español live band.

Great live rock in Spanish music. Great atmosphere but the mix drinks and supposly house tequila taste Waterdown ... plus bucket of beer a little to expensive.

This place is a pleasant surprise from all the other bars I have been too. Live music is great and crowd is friendly. Beer is reasonably priced and place seems clean. My only problem is the service is slow and if your not sitting at the bar, good Ok why am I waiting for a band to return after an hour, does this make sense ? Dj is super loud and repetitive beat, enough already.

Most important detail: THE TEQUILA DOESN'T BURN HERE Forreal. The owner is a super cool dude, his staff welcome everyone personally and attend to you the entire time. I'm talking like come and check in for conversation not just to make money off of you. It is a hole in the wall on the outside and it is low key fancy inside. Everyone is sweet, the music is versatile, the decor is comfortable and reasonable- no need to feel like you are gonna break something important like in the gas lamp and no lingering smell of vomit and mold like in hillcrest. Stop in, you won't be disappointed

This bar is fucking amazing. The owner welcomed us to a free shot as first timers in! The vibe is so amazing! Music is great!

Great bar location, lots of places to grub near by. I came here on a late night and a live band was performing. They played great music and everyone was dancing. They do have private parking, first come first serve. They also have a smoking padio right infront. The o ky downfall of this place is the price of beer. I paid 23$ for 2 coronas and 1 jack n coke. That's ridiculous. Come here to dance, dont come here to drink unless you pregame.

The Mexican ska music is awesome here. But some of the waiters that work here are straight up dick heads!!! Our waiter bitched about not getting a tip after he forgot to bring our drinks multiple times. I had to go up to the bar myself to remind him over and over throughout the night where are our drinks? So yeah you lost your tip dumbass!!! The bar is cool and it has a nice vipe to it, but the waiter ruined the whole experience for me with his diva attitude. All we ordered was beers how hard it to remember to bring beers to a table.

Purchased two Red Bull vodkas, took the first sip and tasted like a glass of iced water with a hint of "something" else(not vodka nor Red Bull). Went back to the bar and explained the taste, bartender went off telling the other two bartender chicks working there, came back and said "what do you want then?" I told her I want two red bull vodkas that taste like Red Bull vodka, she walks to the sink with both drinks spills out the ice hold back the drink, adds more ice and vodka to it. Comes back and says "taste it now". Ended up just ordering two beers(not what I wanted) finished our drinks and LEFT. Won't be coming back.

Authentic, amazing, best bar in Chula Vista and one of the few places in San Diego I've been to that remind me of Spain or Latina bars where you are free to be real. And great, attentive service... Way to go.

Beer price is like in downtown San Diego but the ambience is the best for a rock en español fan I love it !!

Upon first arriving I was somewhat spectacle, arrived around 9 pm on a Friday. Place was very small and a lot of the tables had reserved sitting . You either sat at bar area or few other open tables. As the time went on more and more people arrived and the atmosphere was great. Spanish Rock band and DJ playing great songs. The bartender seemed too overwhelmed , he had waiters bringing in orders, attending customers at bar area and charging . But regardless the place was very pleasant with nice people who were just there to have a good time.

We live in the neighborhood and came here for the first time on a whim on Saturday night, because we wanted some drinks and its walkable for us. We weren't sure what to expect. It was awesome! Drinks and service were good, live music was great and the atmosphere was popping. We will definitely be back. This only setbacks are that it is on the smaller side and it was very crowded. Parking doesn't look like an easy situation for those looking to drive either. Overall I say give it a try though

Came to Celebrate my friends b-day on a Friday, arrived about 9:30pm and the parking sucks, you can park on the side of a wall, and cars on the side, or park on the street. Very small place to hang out, good to get there early and save seats for your friends. They had spanish rock and a live band, T.V. on the walls, I thought it was cool. Beverage prices are decent, not expensive beer $6 for a Light Modelo, Strawberry Mojito $9 tasted pretty darn good. Our bar tender was awesome can't complain, he was coming back if we needed more, he brought some penuts w/chamoi and lime, man this tasted delicious, our bar tender was too sweet that he brought us a cup full of it and baby mini silver spoons. The womens restroom was neat and clean, too crouded when you need to go potty after too much liquid, they only have 2 toilets Be prepared to wait in a long line.

Flashback to 1996 when I had my first legal adult beverage at "Mi Barra" in tijuana, bc. The beer was cold and well, the live Spanish rock band was like no other... Present day: as a thirty-something-family-man-Chula Vista resident I need a place that's gonna deliver: a. Cold beer and b. Live Spanish rock without racking up a large Uber bill. ..."Mi Barra 2.0" is a breath of fresh air for someone that's tired of the same old-same same-old and just wants to listen to good Spanish Rock. ...in case you're wondering the band that was there last Saturday was Los Ingratoz. ...it doesn't get more authentic than this. If they look familiar to you, it's because they are the former "Gatos de la Azotea" that use to play at "Mi Barra" in the 90s. ...all that being said, go down and support a local small business owner. You won't regret it.

Great place to listen rock en español and have fun. Beer it's little bit expensive. The place it's small but it's perfect for a night out and it's very clean. I will definitely go again.

Hidden rock en español gem. They play all the great hits and have variety of bands. They only advertise on Facebook so come while it's not too busy. The owner is friendly and very knowledgeable in the industry. If you want a small place to have a few drinks and enjoy great music, this place is a must.

Went here for the first time on October 30th. The band was really good and played a mix of spanish rock and cumbias. I was really impressed that such a small bar I had never noticed before had such good music. The place is really clean also. Not sure how new it is but it looks like a great place for those times im looking to chill and not trying to go up north. It's a little small in there but I actually think of that as a positive because it just makes things more intimate with your group, the band, and other people. Speaking of which, the owner came over and chatted with me for a while. Haven't really seen that before but that's nice. I'll definitely be coming back. I only rated 4 stars because I want to wait to see if the 2nd time is just as good. Mi barra will be on my list if im ever in the mood for good Spanish music, good drinks, peanuts, and friendly service.

Very fun place . It's very small and can get packed but it was still ok. The live band was great. They have an outside sitting area which is great cause it can get warm inside when your dancing . I would definitely go back.

It's an okay place but when the owner comes to your table every 10 minutes just to tell you how good the band is it kind of gets on your nerves and they never turn on the AC and a damn place so if you go there and you want to dance bring a towel because you're going to be sweating your ass off and not to mention for four beers I paid $34 so good luck I hope this is helpful

I LOVE Mexican rock! And this place does not fail you if you want to listen to some 90's Spanish Rock! Be ware is a small place and if you want to seat down you have to get there early if you are out of luck.... but they have a patio where you can sort of listen to the music... its a smoking patio so be prepared, the place is pretty cool if you just want to drink and listen to some music... I just wish they served some food to slow down the alcohol intake... hahaha. The owner is awesome and the server "negro" that's his nickname is the most attentive guy in the place, he will treat you like a king Or queen! Oh by the way the parking is limited so just park in the Gonzales market parking lot...

Awesome little bar in CV! Live rock and the owner is hilarious! Probably the only bar that specializes in Spanish rock north of the border so if you like Caifanes, Heroes del Silencio, Cafe Tacuva and Soda Stereo you'll love Mi Barra.

So.... this place was fun!! Given.... it's not my type of music.... not my crowd..... I came for a birthday, and the birthday girl had a blast! Years ago we went to La Quinta Grill... asked for the band to play ONE song, and they didn't.... asked this band to play that SAME SONG... they did at the moment I asked them! That alone was amazing. Not to mention the bar TOOK BACK A DRINK WE WERENT FOND OF... Who does that? This place, that's who. I will definitely be coming back, even though... again, it's not my music, and not my crowd.... I'll be coming back. And that's all I have to say about that.

If you're into rock en español then this is the place for you! They have live music and good drinks. It's a small bar with great atmosphere. People go there to have a good time and dance to the old songs. The one thing I don't like is that the bathroom is so small but other than that this bar is one of my favorites!

Grate bands! The manger is always friendly as well as staff. Its small but a grate place to grab some drinks and have fun. Thursday nights are the best!

I love this place! Music is great, (most of it 90's Spanish rock hits) live band, environment is excellent the owner is very cool he's always saying hi, waiters and behind bar guy are nice as well, been there twice and I haven't been disappointed. Definitely will continue to stop by

I would give this place 2 1/2 if i could!.. ambiance o.k. not to full, its mostly a rock en español place! That is much needed around here, the band called Retro was decent.. altough if u are going to call yourself Retro, how can u butcher the lyrics of the all mexican classic Caifanes.. my complain is on the Drinks.. the worst tasting mixed drinks ever.. j&c horrible, and the mojito did not seem freshly made or did not taste fresh at all, it was like a syrup premade something.. its just lazy..as far as Mixed drinks go..and they still charge you for not liking it.. stick to beer i guess.. will i go again?.. maybe..if they get a real bartender, that knows how to prepare good Drinks

I had heard about this place for a while but never got a chance to stop by. Finally I heard one of my favorite bands was going to be there which is Inspector, and I went and it was awesome. Its a small place and it felt like a private show which was awesome because we got a chance to take a picture with Big Javy which is the lead singer of the band. Bartenders are very nice. The owner is very nice and aware and likes to keep the good environment going. The only complain I have about this place is the girl at the door (which I dont know the name) she is a little bit rude and kind of feels like the thinks she's too good for the people that go there. Constantly making faces. Me and my bf were standing watching the show and she's just push her way through not saying excuse me or sorry. She was walking with Big Javy and my bf asked him for a pic he was more than happy to take a picture with my bf but the girl from the door was like "ugh" and made a face, but its okay because we still got the pic :). Also when we would be at the bar waiting to ask for our drinks she would just push her way to the front and ask for hers. But aside from that I had a blast and I would defenetely go back once again.

Really good time, fun night. Good band on Saturday Night. No problems, waiters and owner were down to earth people.

Very neat and great service, the only think that was missing for me to have a great time was a shot of Tequila. We enjoyed the music very much and the bartender gave us great service.
