Mi Cabana Restaurant

Food was delicious. Staff was friendly. With that being said, the place was empty - we were the only people there. Nobody bothered us but it’s not in the best area so some may feel uncomfortable. Someone in the party ordered a burrito with beef and they put steak then charged for that steak. Didn’t tip as much since he wouldn’t fix it on the bill.

We've been meaning to check out this restaurant for a while, and I'm really glad we finally did! We ordered the Mofongo with roast pork (blue plate) and tried a daily special called "Quesabirria." The Mofongo was great, the Quesabirria was phenomenal!! This was a very good first impression for us, and we will definitely be coming back for more!

A nice small business that serves Latin/cuban and Mexican food. The service is good and the place is very clean and looks good inside. The food had a great taste and a good presentation. The Ropa Vieja Mofongo was made with sweet plantains, I usually have it with green plantains, but it was good even with the yellow plantains. I will definitely go back to try other things in the menu.

Good quality of food. On my travels to Asbury Park I decided to pullover and try out this restaurant. They were hosting a small party and got a complementary cheese platter from them. The Tostones were nice and crispy. My wife and I had the Pork tacos. The tortillas were soft and hand made. The salsa’s had a nice spicy to it. I will Definitely would take a drive back from New York to try out more from their menu. Good luck to this family own restaurant.

OH MY 🥺 GOSH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE ARROZ CON POLLO IS SO PERFECT I ALMOST CRIED on the inside, on the first bite I was sold. Great portions! STAFF: very welcoming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BONUS: ME ENCANTA LA SALSA and they were playing salsa while I was waiting for my food 😭👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 Mannnnnnnnnnnn if you don’t eat from here, I WILL. Take my word for it. Food was excellent! The tacos reminded us of the ones we had in Tulum. The tres leches cake was absolutely fantastic. Glad this place opened and will be our new go to restaurant

This is my first time eating here and I decided to go with the Alambre Chilango Mix to get a taste of their chicken, steak, and shrimp. There’s not a single thing I would change about this dish. I’ll 100% be back!

Great little restaurant in Asbury Park. It was my first time here and I will definitely be back. The food was so good and flavorful. Portions are good size.

Submitted a to-go order and was pleasantly impressed. I ordered the beef empanadas (well seasoned and very large), Mushroom Quesadilla (could have had more cheese), sweet plantains (exquisitely soft and the perfect texture), Carnitas Tacos (three tacos with plenty of meat, slices of lime, and sauces to add). The restaurant is small, but it's nicely decorated, has plenty of seating, and a friendly staff. Your will not go wrong ordering from Mi Cabana and enjoy their food.

Great tasting Mexican food. Ordered the vegetarian tacos, and everything about them was great: ingredients in them, the sauces on the side, the corn tortillas. This place does an outstanding job at what they do. Definitely will be back

I could have sworn I left a review after trying this place last summer. Ordered fish tacos for me and another person for takeout. We both thought it tasted off and didn't feel well later that night. Taste wasn't anything special even without that

Amazing, Natural, and beautiful. Food was AMAZING! Energy of the place was vibrant, bold, loving and soothing. EVERYTHING WAS SENSATIONAL. It triggers all senses. Clean, friendly, and very Professional. Everyone was nice. It can be a party affair, or intimate dinner. All up to you but was amazing .Everything was fresh, and hot. You smell every herb, real, fresh cheese, and meat. Music is Jamming. I could go on and on but you have to try it yourself. I love that it keeps culture alive but still give the people what they want. I laughed and ate the whole night. The bathroom was aesthetically pleasing. (Did a photoshoot on my own lol) 10/10 Recommend go

If you want clean, affordable and delicious Mexican food, get out of downtown Asbury! Good size, decent price, and nice quality food. Pluses- the tacos were stuffed and the mushrooms are fantastic! The minus- I bleeped but not certain, the salsas with the chips were bottled- though still great tasting

More impressive in food and presentation that one would expect from street view. Kudos to the chef. Fish tacos and pork dish my friend had were delicious. Nice low key service. A hidden treasure for sure if you're seeking Mexican or Latin food.

Don't sleep on this small business because their food is delicious through and through. From the free plantain chips all the way to the dessert, it was a 5 star experience. The steak sopes were so good and perfectly layered. So much flavor. The ropa vieja was also flavorful. The tres leches was my favorite part of the meal. I haven't had one with peaches before and I don't think I'll have it any other way. It was perfection in every bite. I will definitely be back again.

This place is a gem. Wonderful, fresh food that tasted homemade and was presented beautifully. We stopped in on our way out of town, just looking for a bite, and we felt so fortunate to happen upon this place. We ordered a chicken torta and a burrito, and both were excellent. The woman who served us was kind and welcoming.

What a great find! Went based on reviews and agree with 5 star rating. Super clean, fun decor, service great and food was outstanding. Fresh, quality ingredients, generous portions. Steak tacos delish, steak with beans and rice also so good. The pico de gallo was SO fresh and delicious. Very reasonably priced.

So good, chose this spot in the area after an event went in with my girlfriend and we were amazed. Food is delicious and we loved the vibe. Got the Taco Birria and Quesadilla.

Fresh and delicious! My hubby and I sat down and we were immediately greeted by a very polite and friendly young man. After giving us two very clean menus he brought a small basket of mixed plantain and corn tortilla chips. Crisp, perfectly salted and two tasty sauces on the side for dipping. I ordered a Tropical Salad which had perfectly ripe squares of pineapple under Frisia and Mexican almonds. A guava vinaigrette came on the side. The presentation was beautiful. I cannot believe I did not take photos during this meal because every item was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. I had also ordered Casuela Con Steno which is seafood soup. I could come back every week to eat this soup. It arrived at the table hot and fragrant. Shrimp with their heads, baby clams, baby octopus, muscles, rings of squid, chunks of potato, slices of carrots and celery in a flavorful broth with a kick on the back of your tongue. A generous portion that filled my body and spirit. I look forward to having this soup on a cold, dismal January day. My husband ordered Bistec a la Mexican. Tender steak under a pile of sautéed veggies with gravy. Another beautifully decorated plate where the side of rice mixed with vegetables was topped with black beans. There was a small side of Mexican cheese and avocado. Both meals came with packets of warm and freshly made corn tortillas to sop up gravy and broth. Yum! Now that I know how good those corn tortillas are I have to try tacos from the menu. Additionally I had the Aqua de Orchata. This was the best I have ever had! It quenched my thirst and cooled any spicy moments. Last but not least was the flan and the tres leches with peaches cake. Don't leave without these well made desserts! So many restaurants, during the pandemic, have become complacent or overwhelmed but here you will get attentive, welcoming service and delicious food that is crave worthy. They are what a restaurant should be!

This little restaurant off a busy street in Asbury Park is a gem. When I saw the high rating but few reviews I wondered if the reviews were all from friends and family, but no, the food really is amazing, reasonably priced, and the portions are very generous. We started off with complimentary chips and salsa and then went the Latin food route. I ordered mofongo relleno with ropa vieja and it was fantastic - tender meat, flavorful sauce, and perfectly cooked mashed plantains. My husband ordered the churrasco (spelling?) and it was also tender and flavorful. The value given the prices and flavor is unbeatable today. Definitely give it a try!

Great place. I love to grab takeout here. Try the green apple soda, a must-have. I normally place my order and by the time I get there it's ready for pick up. Nachos with jalapeños also great. I hope this menu helps everyone out.

I had a fabulous dinner last night at Mi Cabana. I've been meaning to try it and finally got to go with some friends. We brought a bottle of wine and sat outside at the picnic tables and enjoyed a beautiful night. The food was FANTASTIC! The paella was some of the best I've had outside of Spain, full of perfectly cooked seafood and sausage. The pork tacos were delicious and the tostadas were a huge portion and were great. I even brought 2 home. It's a little hole-in-the-wall place that has great service and amazingly delicious and affordable authentic Mexican and Latin food. I highly recommend it!

Fish tacos are amazing! Tropical salad is good, better than I would have expected but overall an attempt to be healthy on my part. Ropa vieja, which I was super excited about was ehh. The meat was fatty and not flavorful enough.

Really enjoyed this new spot! Hot out of the oven as we were arriving, delicious ropa vieja over baked plantains were surrounded by a veggie-and-olive laden gravy. And my son enjoyed "lechon asado" with perfectly crispy chicharrons and black rice included with slow roasted pork. We topped it all off with the most spectacularly creamy homemade flan I've ever tasted. And unlike the food service east of Main Street...there's a ton of room to park! Let's support this wonderful, brand new business!

The food was excellent! I picked up and the food was ready in 20 minutes as I was told it would be and there was plenty! The family that runs the restaurant was very nice. They are just recently opened so give them a try!

¡Riquissimo! The food was SO good!! Tacos so full of perfectly cooked shrimp that they were spilling out. A huge heap of delicious mofongo relleno with shredded pork. Excellent Cuban sandwich for the lil guy. All that AND a spotless bathroom! Will definitely go there again.

My husband and I came to "Mi Cabana" and enjoyed every bit of food! The place is super small but the staff is kind and attentive. We ordered the plantain chips and guacamole to start the chips were homemade and fresh and the guac was super flavorful , the best I've had to be honest. I ordered the fish tacos or the "Tacos ensenada" on the menu and my husband the "Mofongo relleno Ropa Vieja" and both were fresh, tasty and super filing. Enjoyed our dinner and if in the area would def come again!

This spot is nothing but great. The food is always fresh and delicious. Driving down Asbury Ave you could miss it. But,please don't. It's truly worth the visit.

Such good food. So fast for pickup about 5-10 minutes. Me and my boyfriend randomly came in and ordered the Birria tacos which were soooo amazing I hope they have them again soon. Customer service and prices great too

I've ordered take out from this delightful new addition to Asbury Park about five times, and each time the service and quality have been outstanding. The portions are HUGE and one entrée has actually provided enough for three meals in some cases. My wife and I have had to make a deliberate point of trying new items so we don't fall into the trap of only ordering "one favorite" meal. We have never been disappointed, no matter what we order. One thing I found helpful - that is NOT clear on the menu - is that the Taco orders contain three tacos - in addition to the generous sides (and fresh greens). I always feel that the ingredients are super fresh, and cooked just to order. The side dishes (esp Guacamole and Tostones) have always exceeded expectations. One additional side note: two orders ago, my car died in the small parking lot as I was leaving. I told the staff I would be back with AAA, and apologized for the inconvenience...but instead they gave me a jumpstart and sent me on my happy way (to a new car battery). Although the space is too small to dine-in during COVID, the colors and decorations are cheerful and as authentically Mexican as the delicious food and gracious service. Highly recommend.
