This place is a little hidden gem in Marin. The food is fresh and drinks are delicious too. Very friendly environment . Prices are reasonable. The host and waitresses are so friendly

Google
The service quality at Mi casa cafe is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who are always happy to help. They took the time to explain the menu, made excellent recommendations, and ensured that my glass was always full. Forgot to mention the food was delicious.

Absolutely love the food here, I think the prices are fair compared to many places here in San Rafael. The employees here always greet you with a smile!!! Very homey place.

Google
Thank you for the attention you always give us every time we come here for breakfast. I truly recommend this restaurant very family, friendly Marin gem and delicious food with excellent service from the staff.

Google
My latest "CLEAN PLATE" award goes to Mi Casa. The food here is so good it almost makes me want to cry! There are good cooks, and some are even good artists and really excel at what they do. The food at Mi Casa Cafe surpasses that! You literally can feel the love in every meal. Those of you who know that experience. Will love Mi Casa! Sorry, I didn't take pictures this time. Give the Burrito Del Mar and the chicken tortilla soup a try. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Enjoyed our lunch with our dog in the outside patio. Friendly service and we liked our tacos and enchiladas. We will be coming back!

Yelp
Lively! The music, the appearance, and the attentive service add to the lively vibe of this place! "Mi casa es su casa", indeed haha. I had a botana mixto. It is a chilled dish consisting of shrimp and octopus with cucumber, tomatoes, and red onions. Lots of lime/citrus. Think seafood ceviche. Very cooling and tropical. Even though it was raining outside (at the time of this review), I wanted something cold and fresh. Lo and behold, there's this! Great! I'll try their hot dishes next time.

Kristy S.

Yelp
A very nice decor inside. Important if you are alone or in a group that is not Latino, you will get slow or No service as I got today 12 June 2025. I got your message I will Never go back nor recommend this nasty restaurant. Not worth the wait and racism!

Yelp
I've passed by Mi Casa Cafe a few times and finally got to try it! It always looks like a popular place. We ordered the enchiladas and taquitos, as well as chips and salsa to start with. The chips and salsa were $3, with the chips being thinner tortillas but excellent salsas. I liked the red -- with a balance of sweetness to the acidity. There are also chunks of tomatoes, onions and cilantro. The green was cooler and very fresh. ENCHILADAS DE CANGREJO: The crab enchiladas had a burst of the ocean, enough crab meat and celery, tomato and onion. It came with a green and red sauce. The red sauce was saltier, but I liked both. Black beans were hearty, the salad was flavorful with crunchy pumpkin seeds and cotija cheese. The rice was like a fried rice, a bit salty, but so good with the red sauce that had made its way there. ENCHILADAS AL PASTOR: Red sauce enveloped the hearty al pastor chunks in the enchilada. I tried some of this dish and it was also very good. FLAUTAS: 4 crispy chicken taquitos dressed up with guac, cheese, sour cream, tomatillo and pico de gallo and lettuce. Overall, we enjoyed our food and service was great. If you're passing by wondering whether it's worth trying, stop by and give it a try.

Buzy B.

Yelp
The service was excellent and so was the food. The spicy mango margarita topped it all off.

Yelp
Service is great. Ambiance is great. Family style seating with bar and bar seats. I have been here twice. Service is great and the food is amazing. I have ordered the Taco Salad on both visits. Beams are great steak in juicy and tender. COKE in a bottle.

Yelp
Best place I've been in a long while. Great food Great customer service Great ambiance A little on the pricy side but it's totally worth it. I will be back!

Oscar T.

Yelp
Excellent service, prices are fair and the food it's delicious, I'm an every day breakfast customer. Chilaquiles it's my favorite plate they have fresh cheese (queso fresco) almost non of the Mexican Restaurants offer that and makes a big difference and also they don't offer Spanish Rice in all the dishes like in most of the Mex restaurants which it's great if doesn't make look like Mexican fast food. The flavor it great looks like back in the kitchen they take they time to cook with a lot of pride definitely it's muy favorite spot in miles around

Yelp
I'm caught in a busy day and wanted to get something delivered for dinner. Mi Casa Cafe caught my eye (thanks, Yelp!!). The order came with a small bag of chips and salsa. Everything was packaged and delivered with care. Burrito de camarones at $13.99 The yellow bell peppers added a nice sweetness to the bite. The shrimp was grilled nicely with the peppers and onions, but lacked seasoning. El burrito Del Mar at $18.00 I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a wow moment when I opened the container. The shrimp and crab was on top of the burrito. Inside was white rice, beans, and guac. All the excitement was on the outside. The shrimp was over cooked and not seasoned. In both burritos, the white rice inside was plain and boring. They were generous with guacamole in the burritos so that made up for the rice. Either way, it was tasty and I didn't have to make it.

Yelp
love this place! Best service I've had in decades. Food is rich and savory! Not like the Mexican food you can easily make at home. Good music as well. I think it's a gem.

Yelp
Got ripped off here! Ordered a chicken super burrito. While waiting I was brought chips & salsa. When the bill arrived I was surprised to see a $3 charge for the chips & salsa and $1 credit card processing fee, both a first for me. Visa charges merchants less than 2.5%, why would they charge me what comes out to 6.5% and not disclose there would be a charge if I used my credit card (I had cash)? Why didn't they disclose anywhere (menu, sign on the wall, THE SERVER) that I would be charged $3 for a small portion of chips & salsa? Aside from that, something seemed off when I only got the restaurant reciept copy to fill out. When I asked for customer receipt copy, they gave me a different receipt with the total without the line item charges of the above mentioned. Upon insisting on getting the same reciept, they finally provided it (see attached). When I confronted them about these lack of disclosures, I was told their new menu would state there will be charges. BTW, the burrito was nothing special, definitely not worth $11.50. I hope that extra $4 was worth it because not only will I never be back, I'll be sure to warn everyone to stay clear, like I'm doing here.

Yelp
without exaggeration probably one of the best meals of my life. for years we have gotten burrito from there and they are fantastic consistently and the best around. but tonight I changed it up and got the hamburger patron (which does not have a hamburger patty on it) with shrimp, avocado, pineapple, and it was fantastic. 11/10!
google avatar

Yelp
Mi Casa no longer exists. The place is now called Playa Azul. Food was okay. However, they charge you for everything, i.e., chips/salsa. Service was good since there were only a few diners during mid-afternoon.

Yelp
We've eaten at Mi Casa many times and always have a great meal with great service- even when they are packed. We recently hired them to cater a backyard birthday party. We ordered the taco bar service and let me just say- they blew us all away. They showed up and set up quickly and professionally. The food was fresh and fantastic and the guests all loved it. They could not have been kinder, and we will absolutely use them again! Would give more than 5 stars if I could!

Yelp
california burrito is amazing super seasoned and tasty you won't regret it this taste authentic and love the different tortillas you can order makes it unique

brooke w.

Yelp
This restaurant sells really authentic Mexican food. They have a delicious cocktail of shrimp and octopus. The best cocktail I've ever had here in Marin County. They were really nice to make me an iced coffee to go when they only sell regular coffee. She made it all fancy with caramel and whipped cream for a very great price. They are also very fast with bringing food and attentive to their customers.
google avatar

Emilio N.

Yelp
Extremely great tasting food!!! The restaurant has a very nice decor, the people are friendly. She asked us if we wanted chips and salsa most restaurants don't charge. But I guess it was a fair price $3.00, not sure if I would have got them if I knew she was gonna charge me. The steak burrito was very well prepared and I am definitely coming back.

Yelp
The air was awful in Novato, so we decided to strike out south to find good food and cleaner air. What a pleasant surprise to find Mi Casa tucked away in the 'contractor' area of San Rafael off DuBois. The menu is very impressive - it was hard to decide exactly what to have! Although we had a short wait for a table outdoors it was well worth it. My pollo asado plate was fragrant, done perfectly, and the rice, beans, and salad that came with were all fresh. My wife's shrimp appetizer plate was loaded with fruit and veggies which really went well with the seafood flavors. She ordered it spicy, and it certainly was! Lots of black pepper really gave it a nice zing. The staff was incredibly attentive - i'll bet they checked on us at least 10 times during our lunch to ensure things were OK (they were OK). My only reason for giving four and not five stars is really pandemic related - the outdoor seating leaves you right in the parking lot, with vehicles coming perilously close to the tables (and each other), and some of the patrons of the other shops in this small strip mall must be deaf, based on the volume their car radios were cranked up to. Anyway, if you're in south San Rafael, looking for some AUTHENTIC mexican food - this is the place. I think we were the only non-latinos in the whole place the entire time we were there - and that's a good thing :) So great menu, tasty food, good portions, attentive staff - four solid stars.

Alice Z.

Yelp
I am so disappointed. We have been going to this restaurant for 9 years and have always had a great experience. Tonight we went for a family dinner and I'm so disappointed. We frequent this restaurant at least once a week and tonight we were not treated well. The food took a long time and then when we were done, I had to wait with my two kids for 40 min to be acknowledged to get a check and a box for my food (after going inside to ask for it). When asked by another customer to turn the music down, they turned it up. The food was good as usual, but the service was aweful.

Yelp
Having Chilaquiles with salsa verde and poached eggs. Server was a little skeptical when I asked for poached but said ok. They came out perfect. The skin on red potatoes were cooked how I like them - creamy inside but still toothsome with a great crispy crunch on the outside. They came with chopped green onion. With the salsa verde, queso fresco and squared tortilla pieces - the Chilaquiles were very good. I wanted to lick the plate when i was done. The entire dish was very appetizing in presentation. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is out of business. It was sold to a new owner. Google hours are not accurate , it says it opens at 8 but it was not open. There is still a mexican restaurant here but it added sushi to the menu -- weird. Did not try because they were not open.

Yelp
Pretty good spot. I was craving a Michelada and this spot came across my Yelp search. I ordered the Ranchelada which was a Miche just had shrimp and cucumber on the rim. $10 for this drink which wasn't too bad, I just wish they added a bit more of the garnishes and had a taller/bigger glass. To eat, I ordered the Bisteck Encebollado (Steak w/ Sautéed Onion) and that was good as well. I will say the consistency of the meat wasn't the best, there was something missing, not flavor wise, just the type of meat/cut they used. But paired with the beans, rice, avocado and chile, I made my own little tacos and even had some leftovers the day after which was just as good! I loved the plátanos and side salad as well. Total for my meal, 1 person was about $30. A little up there I think, but not too bad overall.

Rosalie W.

Yelp
Enjoyed eating outside. Food & service was good. was able to bring my dog, who was given a bowl of water .

Christ M.

Yelp
I usually enjoy getting breakfast/lunch at this spot but unfortunately the other day I ordered Birria tacos and I found plastic wrap in the consommé and also inside my taco. I went back to let them know to be careful and keep an eye out for others but the lady the confronted me seemed like she didn't believe what I was saying and didn't apologize. They did offer another batch but I already lost my appetite

Yelp
Haven't been here in many years. Had lunch here the other day and it didn't disappoint. I had the Torta Ahogado and it came out wet when I was expecting it to be a dry sandwich but I have to say it was delicious and I would definitely order it again. The sauce is amazing and the slaw was really good. Basically carnitas and guacamole in a fresh bun, slaw and homemade chips on the side. Wife has the Denver omelet, it was lacking cheese but she was ok with that. I could barely eat half of mine. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Neighborhood gem! I eat here weekly. Very extensive and creative menu, friendly staff, always tasty.

Yelp
Great food! As always, friendly staff. We love the Taco Tuesdays special, but everything we've had there is great.

Yelp
There's always a mid-day crowd, so we decided to give it a try. We are delighted we did. The food is delicious and prepared to order. Everything was as requested (great care was taken for food allergies) and ready in under 15 minutes (to go during covid). The seafood burrito was amazing! I'm spoiled by their generosity--fresh jumbo prawns, amazing crab, so many fresh veggies, and the perfect combination of spices. The ceviche was the best we've ever tasted. Everything was fresh and the ratio of prawns to cucumbers and radishes and onions was genius! The chips were warm, fresh, crispy and not greasy. The churro was perfection. Their menu goes on for days--which means that you'll see me there a lot in the weeks and months to come. Oh, the staff is fantastic too. So polite and welcoming! Go and enjoy.

Yelp
Found this spot after a recommendation from my neighbor who knows good food. This was where he recommended for tacos. Great options for kids--including generous sized cheeseburger and fries for any kiddo not craving what the parents wanted! These parents left more than satisfied after having a variety of tacos. The Mayan style one was the most memorable and we will be coming back for more!!!! Hopefully I can get my kiddo to try some next time as well!

Yelp
We booked Mi Casa Cafe for my husband's 50th birthday party this weekend. We had about 60 people and wanted to provide tacos/burritos as well as dancing. Two staff from Mi Casa showed up on time when they said they would be there (4:30pm for a 7:00pm start), were a bit early even, and got going on the setup. It's a great setup with a little menu station, pork on a spit, chicken, beef, tacos or quesadillas, all the fillings (including pineapple to go with the pork!) and chips & salsa. So delicious. This is my second time enjoying their catering and first time booking them. They were the ONLY vendor (bartender, DJ, photo booth) that showed up when they said they would and that really gave me peace of mind as I was rushing around and decorating. Do note that the setup correspondence was largely on email and there was no contract, so I placed a lot of trust that they would show up, but they always responded quickly and since I had been at another party where they delivered high quality, I went ahead and trusted that it would be okay....and it was....and they were the ONLY ones who delivered when they said they would when I had contracts with other vendors...so believe them when they say they'll be there. EVERYONE was talking about how good the tacos/food were and I know some people took their business card for future events! They really delivered a fantastic experience and I, along with my guests, highly recommend them.

Yelp
What I want to comment on is how insanely fresh the food here tastes. It's never greasy or seasoned to death. They really rely on bringing out the flavor of their ingredients and that's why I love it so much. Plus, as far as eating out goes, I'd have to say it's one of the healthier options I've found around here while still being incredibly delicious at the same time.
google avatar

Yelp
I have gone here a few times for lunch as I work nearby. I only have 30 minutes for lunch so I am always in a time crunch. No worries here, I order a taco and aqua Fresca and have them soon after. I take anything cannot finish with me. The bar is fun to sit at and is comfortable. The staff are super helpful. The food is delicious and always hits the spot. The chicken tacos are made street style. I eat Mexican food fairly often and am glad this place is convenient to my work. I am planning on going back soon!
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
Visited again and tried the tortilla Soup and added chicken. At first I was caught off guard by the price of the soup. I could buy a burrito or super quesadilla for the same price. They make up for the cost in flavor though. Easily my favorite tortilla soup! Perfect for a rainy day like today. Ordered a cab and took home half of the soup for later. A real hidden gem, I'll certainly be back again!

Yelp
You close at 3 on Sundays restaurant bussiness is based on supply and demand you closing at 3 means you don't need business!

Yelp
My goodness, where have i been. This place just won my heart in marin as some of the best Mexican food I've had. Quality is excelent, cant get any more Authentic. I cant get over how good the carnitas is, the Asada is beyond delicious as well. A million thanks for feeding me again and again, as you are my new go to for Mexican in Marin! Oh i forgot to mention how great the Horchata is here! Outdoor seating is available too during covid
google avatar

Barry Z.

Yelp
One of my favorite food joints. Their micasa breakfast burrito is oh so tasty (and I always get mine personalized, no rice with jalapeños) and their bistek sandwich is beyond delish. Always friendly service.

Yelp
I've stopped by on a couple of occasions while in the area. Always a great spot to grab an affordable breakfast - everyone is super friendly and it's not too busy/crowded during weekdays. The food is good, solid Mexican food - nothing exceptional, but I've had far worse as well. In a pinch, if I'm up for Mexican food and in the area, I'll definitely stop in. I wouldn't drive out of my way though.

Torgeir H.

Yelp
Nice little authentic place. The food won't send, but will please and satisfy. Service is friendly but not particularly fast, but with soccer on the TV and a cold brew in front of you you won't be in a hurry to leave. My buddy said the margarita was the real deal, although he might have wanted an extra shot of lime juice. Definitely go. It's a little piece of Mexico hiding in plain sight,

Yelp
Excellent food! My friend treated me to lunch today, he had been raving about this place. I'm so glad I got to experience their food. I had green enchiladas made with chicken, they were absolutely delicious!! The green sauce wasn't spicy, it was mild, but full of flavor. I enjoyed the chicken, it was diced and grilled, very tasty and the combo with the tortillas and green sauce was perfect. I was very pleased with everything. My sides were also very good. The salad was delicious, too. I enjoyed the flavorful ranch dressing it came with. I would def recommend this place for an authentic taste of Mexico. I loved my meal today, scraped my plate down...lol

Yelp
So I have been driving past this place for a while but have been hesitant to try. While waiting for my car to be serviced at DNA I decide to pop in for a taco, but when I walked in the ambiance took over me. The first thing I saw was the bar. Yassss! The decor and the vibe just made me want to stay a while, so I had a seat at the bar. I ordered a Michelada from the young man at the bar and the super nachos. I couldnt help myself after looking at all the greatness on the menu. The seafood plates were to die for but I wasn't really that hungry, nachos are my go to. Boy am I glad I ordered something other then a taco. The super nachos were the best I have had in a while. My steak was perfectly cooked and EVERYTHING was fresh tasting. The service was good as well. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Amy P.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from them. I specifically asked for a drink without ice and only certain flavors. What do they do? They only full the drink half full! The agua Fresca was 4.50! I asked for extra pico de Gallo, didn't get any. The churros were nine bucks and TINY. The beans had a very weird vinegar taste. There are 90 Mexican places in Marin and I will never be back BTW the food is fine but not five stars-good.

Yelp
The best torta in town! I have tried some other taquerias in San Rafael and their tortas are nothing compared to the ones from Mi Casa. I get the bistec torta, which comes with just avocado, grilled onions, and chipotle sauce(not spicy). I love that they don't slather a bunch of sour cream on the sandwich like other places do, and instead use a super flavorful and mild sauce. And they serve you a real slide of steak on your torta, none of that diced carne asada nonsense! The bread is soft yet firm and doesn't turn to mush as you munch on your sammie. You get a choice of salad or fries and trust me when I say GET THE SALAD. Nice leafy greens with queso fresco crumbles, roasted pepitas (I think I taste a wonderful hint of sesame oil?) and a light cream dressing that I can't quite describe. It all pairs perfectly together and will leave you feeling completely satisfied with your meal. Everything is great here and I love how fresh all the ingredients are. They always give a generous portion of the extras like sour cream and guacamole (no watery guacamole here, either!) This place is a superior to the other taquerias in San Rafael. They even have a great happy hour and a morning brunch! You can't go wrong here, give Mi Casa a try.

Lisa S.

Yelp
We booked Mi Casa Cafe to cater a birthday party for 90 people last weekend. We had a wonderful experience with Ingrid and Alvaro. They were professional, easy to work with and very nice! They arrived on time, set up everything in one location only to have Mother Nature take over with an extremely windy night. They were able to move everything to a better location while we enjoyed our party. The food was delicious! They boxed up leftovers and cleaned up everything. I was even able to book one of the staff members last minute to stay on longer to help clean up during the party. We look forward to using Mi Casa Cafe for future events!

Yelp
This has to be one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants where I have eaten! The food was great and it had a really good presentation which is rare! Most places have a picture in the menu and once you get your food it looks totally different but this is not the case here. They take their time making your food but trust me it is worth the wait. Everything tastes fresh and like real Mexican food should taste!! I'm willing to drive 45 min just to have their food and cocktails again

Klown F.

Yelp
I came here to eat yesterday with my mom and little brother, we all got birria tacos (2 me, 2 my mom, 3 my brothe) and today we all had diarrhea. The service was alr but shi for the sake of your ass don't come here
google avatar

Lucero D.

Yelp
I ordered a burrito from here i was actually impressed. The red sauce they give you is very flavorful and goes well with the burrito. I also ordered an horchata (rice water) it was amazing! Unfortunately, the service was not the best. The cashier who helped me misunderstood what i ordered over the phone and instead of chips she gave me an order of fries. When i tried to explain to her that i ordered a side of chips to go with my side of beans she wasn't very happy. She got defensive and continued to give me attitude stating they give everyone chips with their order. Well not restaurant gives out chips so i was unaware either way i wanted more for my coworkers side of beans. I was on lunch and did not want to continue to argue with her so i paid for my food and left. When i tried the fries they were soggy and tasted bland. The food was good but overshadowed by the bad customer service. Definitely will not be going back.

Yelp
The food was good The service was slow and bad And on top of it the add the tip the your bill I believe that this is not right Last time I go here

Yelp
Pleasant little find here! The food is delicious and authentic, the menu huge, and the quality is hard to beat! The ambiance was a little disappointing- kind of felt like a fast food joint- but the food was so delicious! The menu is massive and we wanted everything. My friend settled for a breakfast burrito and a crunchy chicken taco, another friend got the chicken tortilla soup and I got the land and sea burrito (chicken inside and grilled shrimp on top). The feast felt gourmet and for the price- you can't beat it! Really nifty joint with some great service!
