"Mi Casa Grill, located in Richmond, focuses on serving dishes from Mexico and South America, particularly Southern Mexico. It opened in February 2022 and takes over a previously long-empty restaurant space at San Pablo and Macdonald avenues. The restaurant serves breakfast to dinner, offering items like Apatzingán-style enchiladas from Michoacán, Mexico, chilaquiles, and pupusas from El Salvador." - Dianne de Guzman

Many dishes are exceptional here…I would describe many dishes as farm to table, upscale Mexican. Chile Verde is devine. Chicken fajitas are also world class. The service is always on the slower side and the staff is not attentive to most service details. But hey, it is in Richmond and we don’t usually do fine dining in this hood unless someone’ abuela is cooking. We do FINE EATING!

This is my second time coming here, but to actually dine in. I came here before for a drink, which btw, the drinks look and taste delicious. The place is really nice inside, clean looking and bright. The server was nice and very attentive. We came during the lunch rush. We ordered the nachos with pollo asado, sopes (pollo and al pastor) and an HorchaLatte. The nacho portion was large and filling. We asked for a side of their habanero salsa which was 😋😋😋 The sopes were cooked perfectly and had all the right flavors. The Horchatta Latte was delicious, it's really the Horchatta. Next time I'll add a shot of espresso to really make it kick. Over all it was a good experience. Lots of light inside and good service. We will be back, especially for the brunch menu!

I wanted to come to this place for so long because from the outside it looks good and the inside is even better. I ordered a Flauta plate and my mom a Menudo, let me tell you it was really good! The food is amazing. Place 10/10, the music, the service, everything was fantastic. I would definitely come back

Just had a wonderful meal at this gem in Richmond! The atmosphere was very charming with Frida inspiration everywhere, and redwood slab tables. The Molcajete was delicious - with a variety of grilled meats and this amazing chorizo base that was so good to dip into with the homemade tortillas. I loved the refried beans and rice we ordered on the side, and the mezcal, tequila and tamarind drink was perfect. Service was wonderful and so friendly too! Go now!!

This was our first time eating in Richmond. They had a great selection of dishes. I was able to order the fajitas entree vegan with whole black beans as the side. The chips, guacamole, and authentic salsas starter was very good. Everyone in our party was pleased with the taste and portion size of their dish. Expect to go home with leftovers.

Google
Such a great brunch experience, we sat at the cute bar and they didn't disappoint in terms of service, drinks and food quality! We were introduced to Atole de guayaba which is like fall in cup 🍁. This corn based drink has subtle guava and lots of warm cinnamon....delicious! The bartender was generous on our cocktail orders. My chilaquiles were 🙌🏽, crispy, sauce covered and slightly spicy. Husband's pork mole was smokey and perfectly prepared. Visit Mi Casa Grill for a good experience in Richmond, CA.

If you’re passing through Richmond. Make sure to stop here. The food is amazing, the margaritas are great as well as the non alcoholics and the vibes are on point.

Google
I been so intrigued by the restaurant by planet fitness that I just went in and try a cocktail and chips and salsa . The costumer service was not good there . The amor oxaqueño cocktail was 14$ the presentation of the cocktail was terrible and a halfway empty cup . The chips and salsa 7$ that’s pricey for chips and salsa compared to other restaurants I ended up leaving quickly . They have a good tequila and mezcal I assumed that the cocktails were going to be pretty good I was wrong . Maybe I will try a dish next time but I doubt it.

Yelp
okay I'm not going to make this long at all. my first time today and I'm hooked already. I drive pass here alt and wanted to come finally today is the day. The service is beautiful with the most polite servers and the food is sooooooo good that I didn't have to add anything. Saul A was my server and another guy also and I enjoy every bit like it was my last. Recommending this place is understatement. This is just one of those places that needs to be very known by everybody and coming from an honest review for the first time. I absolutely recommend this place a 1,000,000,000%. See you at the table. and the ambiance is beautiful.

Yelp
I got the carnitas fajitas -- I was looking for something different and I never had carnitas fajitas before. They were good. My family ordered one of the flights and gave me one -- I don't remember which one but I liked it. We closed the restaurant and the workers were ok with that.

Yelp
Mi Casa Grill brings bold Latin flavors to the table, and it's easy to see why it's a go-to spot for so many people in the area. Their crispy empanadas are a standout--perfectly golden on the outside and filled with a delicious mix of cheese, corn, and mushrooms that melt together beautifully. Another highlight is their unique take on Chile Rellenos, stuffed with a flavorful blend of plantain, corn, and cheese, offering a sweet-savory twist on the classic dish. The service was friendly and attentive, though it was clear they were a bit overwhelmed when we visited on Valentine's Day. While they did their best to keep up, there were some delays. That said, their positive attitude and effort made up for it, and I'd definitely return on a less hectic night. The ambiance at Mi Casa Grill is warm and inviting, making it a favorite for all kinds of diners--families, couples, and groups of friends looking for a great meal in a comfortable setting. The lively yet relaxed atmosphere adds to the experience, making it a spot worth revisiting. A solid four-star experience with incredible food and a welcoming vibe--I'll be back for more!

Yelp
This modern Mexican restaurant is completely different from the decades-long Chinese place that was on this site. I don't recognize it and I washed dishes there as a teenager! Everything is bright, colorful and clean. They have a full bar and I ordered a Classic Margarita, spicy, because sometimes I rank Mexican places by their margs. It passed, was tasty and spicy...but one of the smaller margaritas I've ever been served. The guacamole and homemade chips were great and we got spicy salsa as requested. My sister had Tacos de Plata which she liked, and my Baja Fish Tacos were colorful, flavorful and delicious. Not quite what I had in Baja but much better than eating in FL Mexican places! Prices aren't cheap but then were aren't eating street tacos. Service was friendly, prompt and personable. I'm sure it's family run. We were the only table customers when we sat down but it was filling up when we left. We will be back.

Yelp
Fast service and friendly staff. We stopped in on a Sunday on our way home from SF. We were seated immediately. Ordered chilaquiles, esquite and a plain taco for my daughter. Everything was delicious! If you are in the area this place is right off the freeway. The overall feel of the restaurant seemed laid back and a great place to get drinks as well.

Yelp
A local spot worth the try , Let's start with a beautiful smile and wonderful smile from our server Saul . He was very attentive & Answered all of my questions. I have food allergies that he did not hesitate to go check on for me. We came in without a reservation but seated quickly . Our food was all very well put together and each plate had its own flavor. I will be honest as personal preference the chipotle sauce was a bit much for me could do without or on the side. The over vibe was chill & Clean. Will be coming back soon .

Yelp
Mi Casa Grill brings a bit of a refresh to San Pablo Ave! I appreciate the fun variety of their menu, the vibrant decor, and super cool staff. We've dabbled in the menu here including the chips & guac, pupusas, flautas, Caesar salad, fajitas, burrito, nachos, and the super tacos (which come with a crisp tortilla over a soft tortilla, cheesy inside, choice of protein, and guac/sour cream/pico de gallo). Every dish is pretty solid here and you can feel a strong sense of community, family love, and a passion for what's on your plate which I love. The drink menu is fun, I love the spicy marg. I did notice their cocktail menu expanding and also an expansion to serving brunch. The Tres Leches French Toast and Cubano Benedict sound divine and so do the other marg flavors including strawberry, passionfruit, or raspberry. With competitive pricing, parking, and a million more dishes to try, I'll be coming back soon to enjoy a taste of Mi Casa.

Yelp
I think this place is great!! Wonderful addition to Richmond. The food is delicious! We ordered the fish tacos, taquitos, micheladas, mohitos, Chillaquiles and avocado toast. Definitely a great place to eat, drink snd relax.

Danielle M.

Yelp
My best friend and I came here one day for brunch, hoping to see what the craze was over Mi Casa since it had opened up. We were seated in the outside patio area, which offered a good amount of space and lighting. I ordered the following: - Baja Tacos: decent, wasn't too crazy about the taste - Tres Leches French Toast (shared the dish with my best friend): decent, definitely abundant and good for sharing - Abuelita (hot): delicious as usual Service here was solid as the staff were attentive and nice. Food was mediocre and prices were higher than other places in the area which made it feel like it wasn't worth the hype. Maybe I'd come back in the future to try again, but I wasn't too impressed on the first try - it was just okay.

Yelp
Food is ok but greasy, and overpriced horchata is excellent but Ten minutes in and the chips are soggy with undrained oil, making them rubbery and inedible. We love chips but every time, never finish them here

T J.

Yelp
OMG!! What a wonderful meal with great service. The drinks were absolutely amazing. A small place with nice decor. I've been twice in a week in a half. Ceviche, pitcher of passion fruit margaritas and garlic. The best dinner I have had in a while.

Yelp
I recently dined at Mi Casa Grill and had a fantastic experience. The food was delicious with a wide variety of options to choose from. The portions were generous, ensuring that you leave satisfied. The service was excellent - attentive and friendly. Not to mention, the interior of the restaurant is charming and cozy, adding to the overall dining experience. I highly recommend Mi Casa Grill for a great meal in a lovely setting.

Melissa A.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican restaurant with great customer service! Don't hesitate and try it out! Personal favorites are the chorizo con huevo, Baja fish tacos, and the super taco del al pastor!! Gotta come back to try the margaritas!

Susan C.

Yelp
Absolutely yes delicious authentic food.... Mole tamale Oh my God so good all the food we ordered was perfect. I will go back first time eating there today on a Sunday. Definitely recommend the place and will come back.

adrian v.

Yelp
The food here is tasty and fresh and the presentation looks inviting. This particular visit was probably our least favorite thus far and it was our first time coming on Sunday during their brunch hours. It was busy but not full and we were seated right away. Water was served after about 5 minutes and we ordered drinks and chips about 5-10 minutes after that. They've got a nice selection of drinks both with or without booze. It did take several asks to get the sweetener packs for the iced tea tho and it took about 10-15 minutes for one of the food dishes to arrive after all of the food had arrived and mostly had been eaten. I ordered the steak and eggs and let me tell you that the 5-6 oz. Ribeye was cooked perfectly and was super tender and not too fatty. I did salt it up which definitely improved the flavor. We enjoyed everything except the churro waffles (which was also the delayed dish). The other dishes in our order were chips with guacamole which came with fresh pico de gallo and two salsas, flautas, cheese enchiladas in red sauce and the lox egg's Benedict. The space is cozy with a lot of light coming in which the numerous plants thrive on and has a nice but muted Latin undertone. There's individual tables and a big tall table sort of running down the center of the space for smaller groups or singles to sit and eat. They've also got an outdoor area in the front which has some smaller tables and is covered. Even with the service issues that we experienced on this visit, we will definitely come again

Nicole P.

Yelp
Second time visiting for lunch and got a chance to try more delicious food. Service was great as always and our food was prepared pretty quickly. The horchata had more of a texture that I hadn't tasted before but it was still delicious! The Baja tacos were flavorful and had just the right amount of food. The ambiance was relaxed and I'm already thinking about my next visit!

Rolando E.

Yelp
Best chilaquiles I've had. Hands down, perfect balance of crispy chips, eggs and sauce! -Red chilaquiles with steak

COURTNEY C.

Yelp
Mi Casa's food is reliably fresh. We love going for breakfast. The coffee selection is wonderful. I highly recommend the horchata latte. Highly recommend this spot especially if you live in the neighborhood.

Parker R.

Yelp
First time here! My classmates took me here to try some new spots and I love it. The server was phenomenal and the aguas was delicious! I ordered the chilaquiles and they were to die for. My only ask would be to have bigger portions as I tend to eat quite a bit. I also ordered a Paloma because I had to get a little buzz on and I believe they have a full bar with tequila choices. Would go again!

Luis C.

Yelp
Food was amazing, the waiter was very attentive And fast service perfect perfect perfect The place is very ascetic homey vibes super nice for a girls brunch

Amanda B.

Yelp
The host and server were very attentive. The environment was very clean and cute for brunch!

Cris C.

Yelp
Mi Casa Grill is awesome! We were a table of three: I had breakfast & other two had lunch: excellent service & exquisite food. My sister in law is a foodie and just raved about her food choice, ceviche plate. Ambiance, decor impressive, & cleanliness is ten stars!

Ka Terra C.

Yelp
I ordered the Camarones Al Diabla which was really good and fresh!!! I will definitely be back for more. The servers were also really nice!!!

Paul F.

Yelp
Lovely, warm interior; friendly, attentive service--a mi-casa-es-tu-casa feel! Our party of three loved all of the delicious, visually attractive dishes we were served: Guacamole & Chips, Mezcal Cocktail, Chile Relleno, Baja Fish Tacos, Red Snapper Caribeño, and Chocolate Cake.

Geo S.

Yelp
I recommend looking at the weekly special, they always have delicious dishes. That being said, you should know that: Since opening in 2020, Mi Casa Grill is delighting the Richmond, CA dining scene. Founded by a Mexican family from Michoacán. This charming restaurant offers a unique culinary experience by combining traditional Mexican dishes with South American specialties. Its varied menu includes everything from enchiladas, mole and tacos to plantains, pupusas, empanadas and ceviche. In addition to exceptional food, the service is friendly and attentive, with family members present to share stories about the food and gastronomy of Jalisco. The restaurant's decoration evokes the artistic charm of Mexico, with vibrant colors and artisanal details that create a cozy and familiar atmosphere. Mi Casa Grill also offers a wide selection of exquisite cocktails and a brunch and dinner menu to satisfy all tastes. It is a place where authentic flavors meet the warmth of family hospitality, creating a truly memorable dining experience. Mi casa es tu casa. Mi

Julio B.

Yelp
Service was amazing, quick on taking the order and I felt they didn't took long for our food to arrived. Our desk was little in the middle very clean and nice decoration.

Monica H.

Yelp
The service was great, the food had great flavor, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. A great place to meet up for lunch! I probably won't pay for the chips and guacamole again, the chips were very stale. Everything was eaten, except the chips. I also had the abuelita hot chocolate

Danielle R.

Yelp
Comida excelente Los chilaquiles estaban deliciosos!! Los plantains muy dulces y perfectos Servicio excelente del señor Román

Marelle H.

Yelp
Came here for our last lunch before leaving town. My cousins had rave reviews for Mi Casa Grill, so we had to try it. I honestly can't remember what my cousins ordered, but we all shared the Guacamole and Platano Macho appetizers. My dad had the Red Snapper Caribeño and I wanted something light before my flight, so I just had the Ceviche. Everything was really good and tasted nice and fresh. We each had a cocktail as well. I had a strawberry passionfruit margarita that was very good... strong but balanced. The server was very friendly and the bartender came over to chat and joke with us a bit. We really enjoyed ourselves and it was a nice way to finish off our trip.

Patricia M.

Yelp
The food is great, I tried chilaquiles rojos, they were really good, the aguas frescas and the orange juice were so fresh and really tasty, my daughter tried tres leches French toast and she said she loved it, my husband tried enfrijoladas really good plate too. It's a little overpriced but I get it, the atmosphere is really nice, and the service is excellent, the servers were very thoughtful and kind. I think the only reason I'm not giving the 5 stars is because of the price, because it won't be every weekend spot. Overall I recommend this place

Ivonne G.

Yelp
I went here on a whim. I'm so glad I did. This was a quaint upscale Mexican restaurant. The food was delicious. I had the Esquite, corn not on the Cobb. The service was okay, the young lady never brought me my drinks and at the end I just canceled them. Other than that, the ambiance was mellow and I felt I was in a small town in Mexico. I will definitely go back.

Star F.

Yelp
Great food and extensive menu. Can't wait to return for brunch. Wonderful experience with colorful dishes and d drinks. Jennifer was fantastic.

Liz P.

Yelp
Initially a 3, but I'll be back to try a few more things on the menu and write an updated review. The vibe inside is super cute, and I looooove the option to have a non-alcoholic michelada and would come back for that alone. The food is solid, we ordered the chips & guac, burrito, and red snapper. Honestly, I wish they offered complimentary chips and salsa but I guess that's not the clientele they're going for. The burrito was really flavorful and huge, good for all your burrito lovers out there and I think really worth the price. The red snapper was a delightful dish to try, I love fish and the way they prepared it was unique. I don't think it was worth the price tag, but bay area prices I guess... This place gets 5-stars for the vibe and decor, with good food options. A great place for a date. I think the prices are exorbitant for what is being offered, even the appetizers seem overpriced and for an area saturated with good Mexican food they could mix up the menu to make some items more palatable to your wallet. I'll be back to try the enchiladas and enjoy another michelada though!

Lucero L.

Yelp
The smell of the restaurant as you walk through the doors is warm and delicious! My family came in not knowing what to expect and we fell in love. I ordered the mole poblano with chicken. Not only was the mole exquisite, but they also added veggies en escabeche that added a delicious and unexpected element. My husband ordered the abuelo's torta with chicken and he compared it to his favorite torta in Ensenada. Enough said. My daughter got the platito with chicken, rice, and whole pinto beans. She enjoyed her meal! Additionally, we could not resist the pupusas. They were savory, soft, and not too greasy. We had to take home left overs because we ordered too much! I wanted to try the churros, but that will have to wait for the next visit. This restaurant provided excellent customer service and traditional latin flavors with a twist that makes you want to come back for more!

Yelp
It's painful to write this review, because the people who work here are super nice and I think they're on the right mission, which is to bring a healthy Mexican restaurant to an area that doesn't have options in this category. I have tried many of the items on the menu and I can safely say that across the board, the food is bland and uninteresting. Everything from the salsas to the beans (I'm under the impression that they don't use lard here, which honesty to me is a minus; I'd at least like to have the option), to the rice w/out chicken stock or flavor, to the meats. I just can't get down, sorry. I've gone back ~10-15 times (I usually give a spot 2-3 tries, just in case it was an off-day) as my better half likes it compared to a lot of other spots in the area. And yes, I can say that it's healthier than many of those, but with a serious cost, and that cost is taste. Much of what you find accompanying the food (toppings, sides, etc.) are extremely plain. The vegetables aren't seasoned much, there are a lot of raw ingredients, etc. And the worst part (for me; it's a pet peeve of mine) is that the food looks incredible in the photos and even when it shows up at your table. It's designed to look good. And I don't mind that it looks good either! But I would take better-tasting over good-looking any day. If I had to make a choice, that is. That all said, the atmosphere is nice (2 stars), the place is clean, and lots of locals seem to stop in. It's conveniently located to the BART if that's something you need.

Ed C.

Yelp
Exceptionally good mole. Great service--the waitress checked in on us regularly. Would definitely come back!

Holtzclaw T.

Yelp
The food was fresh and appealing, a bit bland so a little salt would have been nice to add but there's nothing on the tables. Had the guacamole, what I loved is the fact that normally most places add to much lime. I prefer to taste the avocado than so much lime.... The Relleno was bright and presented well, the sauce was nice finish. The rice was bland as were the beans like I mentioned earlier... all in all the only thing was Luke warm. The service was great. Just enough not pesky nor a lack of. I asked for a fresh fruit mojito, they don't have one but they accommodated my request... just not with fresh fruit, but hey it was good and let's admit refreshing. This is not a taqueria burrito place. It is a notch above but they do have some traditional offerings you expect to see. The place was clean and the pride of ownership shines through.

Jose M. R.

Yelp
I'll begin with the service and attention - on point. Upon entry to the eclectic restaurant - smiles all the way around, and everyone welcomed me as if I were family. Secondly, the food was simply delicious and genuinely savory. I appreciated every bite of the ribeye as well as the roasted veggies and side of infused potatoes. I wish I had taken a photo - needless to mention, I returned a clean plate - and ate all my veggies! I promise next time I come, I will upload a series of pictures because I will return again and again. Richmond, you're lucky to have such a great place! My compliments to the chef and Bravo to everyone at Mi Casa Grill.

Ana G.

Yelp
Loved it!! Customer service was great friendly fast and efficient! The ambiance is nice love the decor it's very clean. The food was great! Totally recommend for brunch/dinner!

Sophia W.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday around 1pm for a late lunch and this place was busy. The parking is a little funky because there's only street parking and there are numerous signs saying you cannot park in the adjacent grocery store parking lot or you'll be towed - take note if you have a reservation or meeting up with someone. My friend and I were seated quickly without a reservation and our waiter was very friendly. We ordered some chips, salsa and guacamole as an appetizer which was a good size to share for two and I ordered the shrimp fajitas. Food was good, but I didn't care for the pickled onions and bell peppers. I was expecting more of a classic fajitas with the meat and sautéed bell peppers and onions. My only compliant about this place is our waiter seemed to be too occupied and forgot my to put in my friend's order, so I received my meal first and we waited awhile for her food. Not a deal breaker, but had us rushing as we had to get back to work. I'd return to try more items on the menu as the place was welcoming and the food was good.

Toni M.

Yelp
Pam and I met here for lunch today. I had been here since my initial review for lunch w/ Nina as well as w/ Lori and Terry. I arrived before Pam and was able to get street parking nearby. I was greeted warmly and was offered a choice between two tables and chose the 4 top in the back. As I was waiting for the woman who had greeted me to seat me, a man who was leaving greeted me and explained that he was going on break. I appreciate that kind of service. Unlike when Nina and I came and had a bit of a wait until we were seated, the restaurant had many empty tables. As I sat at the table looking over the menu I saw that they had chilaquiles. I loved the chilaquiles at Fonda, but they are no longer serving brunch. I have tried chilaquiles elsewhere and have always been disappointed. Looking at the description these sounded closer to Fonda's. I had a choice of red or green salsa and a choice of beans. I decided to try them, choosing green salsa and black beans. When Pam arrived she ordered flautas, nachos to share and some other things. She ordered a margarita and I ordered hot tea. The nachos arrived first. I had a couple of the chips w/ cheese and then the chilaquiles, and flautas were served. Along w/ the black beans there was also a mixture of vegetables, including sliced red bell peppers, onions and small halved potatoes. The chilaquiles were very good. I wasn't really surprised because I've always liked the food I've had here, but I was pleased. The chips were slightly soggier than the ones at Fonda, but that was a minor textural issue and not all of them were soft. The taste was terrific and I will happily return for more. Service was excellent, attentive and friendly.

Sofia A.

Yelp
food, and saul very happy and great service clean place , love my crab salad and salmon

Yvonne C.

Yelp
I'm pretty much a regular now and I absolutely love the Chilaquiles con carnitas. The mimosas are spectacular and the service is excellent. Especially, Saul. He's patient, attentive and friendly!

Amy T.

Yelp
Five stars! The service was amazing, decor was rustic, and most of all the selection and taste for the and drinks was so addicting! Highly recommend.

Ruta N.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this gem from an amazing foodie Ms Boozie brunch herself and it did not disappoint! The ambiance was beautiful, I felt like I was in Cabo. The food chef's kiss!!! So taste and huge portions. We had the Jamaica mimosa which I never had before and it was delicious. The tacos are amazing. The manager and staff was so nice. It's family friendly, date night friendly and girls night out lol clearly I like this place a lot. Go find out for yourself. Thank you Boozie for your recommendation.
