Extra! Extra! Mi Cosina is now open! I stopped by for an asada burrito after getting some gas across the street. I've been keeping an eye on this colorfully painted spot for weeks, anticipating their opening,
I ordered a $10.99 carne asada burrito . Yes give me that added guac and sour cream please! I was asked what sauce I wanted the red or the green. I asked for both!! I was given a sales ticket to take to the register and pay just behind where I ordered near the entrance. I paid and explored the store a bit.
They had a meat counter, a glass cabinet full of pan dulce, a refrigerator full of different bottled drinks, a few tables and chairs for eating, and an area with machinery set up to make fresh tortillas.
The man behind the counter said my burrito was ready and I picked it up and drove home quickly to eat up. The burrito was a nice size but a bit overpriced IMO. It was well filled with an equal amount of everything. Sometimes, asada burritos are filled with rice, beans, and only a little asada. Mi cocina's was filled with s good amount of each. The asada was flavorful and didn't have any gristle at all! I added just a bit of salt. I was a bit disappointed the burrito did not come with all the accoutrement burritos usually come with like vinegar drenched jalapeños, limes, and maybe some finely cut radish.
Yes, so I agree Mi Cocina needs a bit more time to get things running more smoothly but I think this new establishment fills a void in this area of town it seems to be lacking. I'd go back and try the fresh tortillas and other items on their menu. I hope to return soon and raise my review a star or two. Check out Mi Cocina and see yourself.
