We came and got some food to go and everything was very good! Overall a nice little carneceria with pretty good prepared food. They have some basic grocery options, a nice meat counter with both cuts of meat and marinated meats, plenty of standard hot food options, pastries, and a small seating area. Fresh tortillas made onsite are a plus! The place is clean and nice inside. Only downside was the service, they're not exactly unfriendly, but are short, don't really acknowledge you, and they don't really give you expectations; just saying "hello, I'll take your order soon" and "it'll be ready in 10 minutes, you can pay up front" can make the experience so much better. Good customer service would've earned another star, but if I'm in the area I would return!

Google
I ordered breakfast tacos and they were delicious. Ham, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo. I will go back for sure.

Google
Got a regular beef burrito, it was big and good, it tastes like a food truck burrito. Meat is a little chewy, but the flavor is good. I was surprised how long it took, but maybe I was there too early for stuff to be ready (9:30 am). I browsed while I waited, and as mentioned in an earlier post, stuff on the shelves is super expensive. But for convenience, it's worth not having to go to a grocery store and hunt around and wait in line. I had my car smogged next door, and by the time I got back, the car was done. No interaction from the staff, except the young lady who took my order, and she was pleasant enough. I'll be back to try the breakfast burrito!

Google

Yelp
Tell me why this place is a hidden gem?!!!! Literally. Hidden. I tried it for the first time. *chefs kiss* I got the chicharrón and carnitas plate. I'm sorry we didn't get better pictures but we ate and shocked it was sooooo good we had to do a review! People we so nice and told us all the food available. The cashier is bilingual. the place is Clean!!!! Smells good and looks good. Try my new spot

Yelp
French fries needed to be cooked they were super under cooked. Otherwise would have been really good. El pastor burrito was bomb. A must try! The chicken flautas were so good. Another must try. Served with beans and rice. The chicken fried quesadilla was like a sope more than a fried tortilla. So it's not what I expected. But now that I know what it is, it was pretty good.Full of flavor.

Yelp
Pros: -Concha and apple pie pastry were both delicious -They had a variety of goods to choose from. It's like a mini Super Mercado. -The decor is cute Cons: -Limited parking Will go back to try more things and revise this review as necessary.

Yelp
Hidden gem. I randomly passed by at lunchtime & decided to try this place. I had never seen this place before & was very pleasantly surprised. There is a small meat market, grocery, Mexican bakery & deli. Plus they make fresh tortillas that can be purchased by the pound. I got a pork & beef crispy taco - both were awesome. The tortillas were so light & crispy with delicious meat & toppings. Higher quality than taco trucks & Taco Bell for the same price. The employees were really nice & helpful Recommend trying this place.

Yelp
It's a very nice to get a variety of Mexican food and items. I like the options they have from Cocido , tacos enchiladas and much more!! I have and will continue to purchase from this Marketplace!! Also service is great and very clean place!

Yelp
I just tried three street tacos. One was carnita, one was Al pastor, & the third was chorizo. They were all absolutely delicious. They were there making their own tortillas. I can't wait to try more foods & bring my friends. They have indoor & outdoor tables. The facility looks extremely clean. You order at the food counter & pay at another counter. I always drive to south Stockton to find good Mexican food. I no longer need to in order to get Mexican food. Great location off of Pacific Ave.

Yelp
Extra! Extra! Mi Cosina is now open! I stopped by for an asada burrito after getting some gas across the street. I've been keeping an eye on this colorfully painted spot for weeks, anticipating their opening, I ordered a $10.99 carne asada burrito . Yes give me that added guac and sour cream please! I was asked what sauce I wanted the red or the green. I asked for both!! I was given a sales ticket to take to the register and pay just behind where I ordered near the entrance. I paid and explored the store a bit. They had a meat counter, a glass cabinet full of pan dulce, a refrigerator full of different bottled drinks, a few tables and chairs for eating, and an area with machinery set up to make fresh tortillas. The man behind the counter said my burrito was ready and I picked it up and drove home quickly to eat up. The burrito was a nice size but a bit overpriced IMO. It was well filled with an equal amount of everything. Sometimes, asada burritos are filled with rice, beans, and only a little asada. Mi cocina's was filled with s good amount of each. The asada was flavorful and didn't have any gristle at all! I added just a bit of salt. I was a bit disappointed the burrito did not come with all the accoutrement burritos usually come with like vinegar drenched jalapeños, limes, and maybe some finely cut radish. Yes, so I agree Mi Cocina needs a bit more time to get things running more smoothly but I think this new establishment fills a void in this area of town it seems to be lacking. I'd go back and try the fresh tortillas and other items on their menu. I hope to return soon and raise my review a star or two. Check out Mi Cocina and see yourself.

Yelp
Worat tamales ever lmao! 90% masa and barely any meat. They shouldnt be making tamales if they look like this... leave it to the pros
google avatar

Jesse B.

Yelp
It was my first time checking this place out and it wasn't bad . The meat I came to get only comes already seasoned which isn't bad , it's just if I wanted to put my own seasoning on it then I'd have to get it somewhere else . The service is fast and the store is neat and organized.

Yelp
This is my second review. We first came here when they initially opened their business to the public. Wasn't for us. Came back to try it out again. Wow, what a DIFFERENCE! Not only did they have more product availability, but the staff was great as well. We hit up 3 different departments inside the shop and all were knowledgeable, kind and attentive. (hard to find these days) The place was clean, the food was delicious, and the workers acted as if they actually enjoyed their jobs! (Also hard to find these days). I work in customer service so that's a focus of mine when I visit establishments to potentially spend my hard earned $$. We purchased salsa rojo, beans and chips. All of them tasted fresh and flavorful. We were so relieved We will come back soon for the big boys (meat department and entrees) soon!

Yelp
I've been meaning to stop here for a while now and I wish i had sooner. The ambiance was amazing snacks and handmade tortillas right when you walk in, an amazing selection of food including tacos, burritos, and so much more. They had an great selection of fresh baked goods; but my eyes lit up when I saw their butcher display. So many fresh cut meats nonseasoned or seasoned I had to pick some up for my chicken pozele. My family and I ordered the taco plate to share. The carnita tacos was pretty good, I accidentally ordered wrong in ended up with two plain asada tacos instead of just one but the taco itself was good just needed salsa which was my own fault. The rice was a little bland in my opinion but the beans were amazing and I definitely will go back just for a thing of those! Overall the service the food and just the overall store is enough to make me go back here and keep going back!

Yelp
The young ladies awaited on me there was very helpful and very congenial. And the food was excellent. I will shop here again.

Yelp
I ordered the #2 family meal. The meat had really good flavor (Asada and Carnitas) however I ended up with a large piece of rubbery skin that was not edible in my Carnitas, it was about a 1/4 of my meat. The rice and beans were nasty and they forgot my Pico de Gallo that I was looking forward to mixing with the salsa and eating with chips. Overall, not worth the money. The meats, salsa and tortillas are really good.

Yelp
Been here a few times now...... don't sleep on it! They have excellent cocido! Fresh pressed tortillas!! They also have pan dulce y aguas!

Andrea O.

Yelp
Our son graduated High School and we bought the food from Mi Cocina. The food was very good and there was enough for everyone to eat what they wanted. We will definitely be going back. The whole process was seamless. Good flavor

Donae L.

Yelp
I was there recently and was very unimpressed. Went to try a burrito and get some salsa and couldn't get anyone to help me so I left.

Yelp
Tried this place out yesterday. My intention was to just get something from their meat department. Medium size selection but everything looked great. Only thing was their price labels.. written on paper!? Odd but that's just me thinking that should be more professional. We ended up getting a Chile verde burrito. Was tasty and well served. Place is nice and clean with fun music in the background. Ladies working were nice and attentive. So was the gentleman at the meat counter! Next time I would like to try their bread and carnitas. All and all I would return again.

Yelp
Food from the deli is great! You may have to wait a little but worth it. Normally get breakfast burritos or menudo. The fresh chorizo is also good from the carniceria counter. Nice clean store w tables indoors if you wanted to eat inside.

Yelp
Last 2 times we ordered, no one answered the phone at 6:45 pm. Previous visit to tonight, all the fillings were cold. Tonight, no flavor, Luke warm, and chicken burrito all dark meat mixed with gristle and fat. No bueno!

Yelp

Sean G.

Yelp
Discovered this GEM today. Tamales and carne asada are the bomb! Atmosphere has a cool vibe and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to go back. We live in Sacramento and will definitely make the journey back to enjoy this wonderful and delicious jewel!

Michael O.

Yelp
I went in for the first time yesterday and no greeted me or acknowledged my presence. I got some chorizo at the meat counter. The two employees were quite rude, wouldn't make eye contact and wouldn't respond to my questions. The lady who got me two tamales gave me two different prices. The tamales were very dry and the masa tasteless. Checking out, and the cashier seemed quite preoccupied, didn't say anything and also made no eye contact. Food was sub-par and I felt unwelcome in there. Just a bad negative vibe from the employees. Too bad as I live two blocks away and won't be going back.

Elizabeth E.

Yelp
Food is usually pretty good so I decided to try a chili verde burrito and it had a bunch of bones in it.
google avatar

Dre S.

Yelp
The service was great! The woman at the front counter was very friendly, the store itself was clean, but the food i wasnt so satisfied with. I ordered asada fries they put a mountain of cheese and the fries were not crunchy at all. The meat was over cooked and did not have much flavor. The guacamole sauce was good. I also bought a piece of pan dulce and that was very hard and had no flavor or any kind of sweetness.

Robert F.

Yelp
We were looking for a place for lunch as we are from out of town. This place is fantastic and the fish tacos are incredible. You must try this place. A bonus is fresh hand made tortillas.
google avatar

Brenda M.

Yelp
Everyone was friendly! The store is organized, clean and super adorable! Also, get the Chile verde burrito , it was delicious.

Thalia C.

Yelp
If I could give no stars I would. I want to let people know that this place is not worth spending your money at. For starters the workers are slow. The cleanliness of the place is questionable after reading the health score, it is alarming. Meat is terrible, I've gotten carnitas and the birria. Carnitas are so/so but the birria I had to cook longer at home and add all the other seasonings. The meat was not all the way cooked and horrible quality. Tried to give the benefit of the doubt but this is just not a place I will support. This was my second and last visit. Do better.

Zai A.

Yelp
Came and ordered carnitas with a side of beans and rice. The food was good enough but the service was terrible on the food counter and register. While I was in, I stocked up on queso fresco and sour cream - the gentleman working the meat counter was incredibly friendly and this in no way reflects on his service. The ladies gathering up 4lbs of carnitas took an incredible amount of time gathering the items, it seemed they weren't really sure what they were doing and seemed overwhelmed by the fact that they had two customers asking for food that was already prepared. When I moved to the payment counter, one of the ladies moved from the food counter to ring us up. She took an exhausting amount of time doing simple math on the 4lbs of carnitas and after taking a while to ring us up, she asked if we needed a bag. We said no and carried our items - to which she then said "you didn't tell me about the sour cream". Um, when you place things on the counter, it means you are buying them. Do not place blame on your clients for your inability to do your job. Honestly, I wouldn't have been upset if she forgot but the whole experience left a lot to be desired. Sounds like the ladies need some training, and the tortillas were ok at best. The food was yummy and I would not hesitate to give the place a try again in a few months. Hopefully they get it together.

Adam J.

Yelp
They got the best food for the best prices it's a one stop shop for Mexican food Mexican bread snacks fresh meat all of that its sooo good I have it almost three times a week Food delicious Service friendly Atmosphere amazing

Cristina M.

Yelp
Service is extremely slow. The food court literally took 20 min to give me 2lbs of meat.... It wasn't anything they had to warm up or make just put it in the container.. they nice ladies were dancing to the music, and chatting and when I asked what is going on they asked if wanted a job or knew anyone who was looking for a job.. but probably true, hence they need new employees asap.

Maria J.

Yelp
Wanted to get beans and red rice for chicken fajitas that I made for dinner. Came to buy them here and the lady told me that the large container of rice is $10 !!!!!!!!!!! Way overpriced. Just walked out and went got a 5lb of rice to make it myself for $6.99 and it's a 5lb bag.

Matt B.

Yelp
This place is the bomb! Their Chile Verde rocks!! What am I saying... All their food rocks ..The Pan Dulce and the corn tortillas are great and the service is excellent. There is a warm atmosphere there and the staff couldn't be any nicer.. it's my go to now .. we have been eating there since their "soft" opening and never have gotten a bad meal... check em out ... the place rocks

Candace J.

Yelp
I went today at 7:50am and googled the time online which stated they open at 7:30am. They didn't open until 8:05am no big deal because thankfully I wasn't in a rush this morning. I ordered two breakfast burritos which they got wrong. I would have chopped it up to a language barrier, but another person came and finished my order request who communicated fine. Order was wrong and thankfully it wasn't that big of a deal to my picky kid, but for the price we paid I should've said something. I wouldn't want someone allergic to something having to go through what I did. The breakfast burritos were ok. I'll give them another try for lunch or dinner, but not for breakfast burritos.

Juan V.

Yelp
Amazing bread and customer service. Love the atmosphere and music they play! Food smells amazing

Lisa R.

Yelp
Went there to try it my friend told me about it. I didn't even know was there. Very clean, I got a asada burrito with hot sauce. It was delicious. I will be going back when I want a great burrito for a decent price. They also sell meats and Mexican bread and homemade corn tortillas.

Yvette M.

Yelp
It's a really cute place! Love the decor. Unfortunately, the food was not okay. The regular burrito and burrito bowl were overpriced for the size portion. Both items were 9.99. The meat was very salty and had lots of fat. I would of rather have went to a taco truck.

Stephanie F.

Yelp
Mi Cocina has delicious and authentic Mexican food. It is affordable and good quality. Everything we have tried from tortillas, chili verde, tamales to chips & refried beans have been excellent. It is a great place to stop to pick up dinner. Service is good. A cute market style with a meat counter and deli. Highly recommend.

Erendida B.

Yelp
We've been wanting to come here since they opened and for it being a new shop we were hoping the customer service was a little better. We were not greeted at all, they were actually a bit rude. The girl behind the register was eating the whole time we were there and when asked questions she seemed bothered. We ordered just simple tacos and the meat was bland. For it being an authentic Mexican food spot you would think the food has its special seasoning. Overall my experience was not the best and I don't think I'll be going back.

William B.

Yelp
Mi Cocina is a wonderful addition to our Stockton dining options. The meats and bread are genuinely authentic and at relatively affordable prices. The furnishings and decor evoke the soul of a Cariceria & Panaderia. Being brand new to the area, they have some operational challenges, but well worth a visit.

CM T.

Yelp
We were excited to have a Carnicería/Panadería in North Stockton open up. We always have to drive downtown to buy authentic Mexican food. I was craving menudo and called first because it is not listed on the menu pic posted online. To my surprise, they do have menudo on the weekends only (I assume). When we drove up, there was a man grilling pollo asado outside. We walked inside and we were greeted by the young friendly cashier. The store layout is an open floor plan, clean and brightly painted. We ordered 2 containers of menudo $12.99 each which included all of the fixings plus a stack of homemade corn tortillas. I also picked up some pan dulce. Go early though if you want empanadas! Everything was really good and fresh. The only thing missing in the menudo for me was the hominy. I like a lot of hominy in my menudo but that's a personal preference. We will continue to come here and hope to see more items in the future. They've only been open for a month now. Happy to have a local Mexican store closer to home!

Heidi S.

Yelp
This is my third time coming here. The food is great....when they have it. Service is unfriendly and unfortunately its difficult to get the correct order. There isn't a schedule as to what is made every day. So you just have to hope they have made what you wanted to order that day. Would love if they could post on social media what days they make tamales, then I know when to go in! This is the third time I have been in since they opened that they have been out of chips. That seems like a basic item to have in stock. The menu is vague and the items in the hot bar are not labeled so its difficult to tell what is offered. While open until 6pm I think this is geared more toward the lunch crowd. If you come in past 430 it seems like they are already cleaning up. I know this is a new business and I wish them success. I think I'll wait a few months and come back to see if things have improved. There is alot of promise here just needs more organization .
