Mi Cocina

Probably the best fajitas I’ve had in a long time. I got the combo chicken and beef and they both melt in your mouth. Both the chicken and beef are perfectly seasoned and so tender. If you’ve ever had tough fajita meat you will appreciate how tender the meat is here. Iced tea is great. My only disappointment was the queso blanco that was pretty bland and on the runny side. Nice looking restaurant and clean.

Mi Cocina is a nice establishment. We went for lunch, but this would also serve as a beautiful date night spot. The food was delicious. The patio is beautiful. The service was attentive and lacked for nothing. I enjoyed everything about this place and would definitely go again. Yum!

Consistently good food with usually happy service. We typically sit at the bar and have crispy tacos, which are some of the best. We also love their guacamole and the salsa is our favorite! For a bigger meal with lots of everything, try the deluxe 57!

Wow!! What an amazing experience!! Rare top notch customer service!! We absolutely enjoyed every encounter from the hostess stand to the delightful server, Julio and even had great chats with the Manager, Edith! Alejandro the chef even popped by to say Hi and greet us! We started with a delicious appetizer, Cocina Platter which had crunchy toquitos, chunky and tasty quac and velvety queso. Our main course had to be the enchiladas, my husband tried the crunchy ones with pablano crema that was to die for! Ended the night with a smorgasbord of tres leches and coffee- chocolate and vanilla! This specific location has been here since early 2000's and it's definitely stood the test of time! Oh and you cannot forget the nice waterfront patio views! Must try for a date night or just going out with the girls!

If I could give them a ZERO I would. Terrible experience at Mi Cocina and zero integrity from management. My partner accidentally left her purse outside after dinner. The next morning, we returned and asked the manager to check cameras. He went to the back, came out with a waitress, and claimed the footage showed us leaving with the purse -- a complete lie. Later that day, we returned to request the footage again so we could file a police report (the purse had cash, cards, and a $2,000 bracelet(which is missing)). This time, the GM, Humberto, suddenly appeared holding the purse, saying a busboy "just found it" and it had been in the office. When we got home, we realized how blatantly we'd been lied to. We called to inform Humberto of the false story his employee gave, and his response was, "Well, you have your purse and nothing is missing." How would he even know what was in it? Then he hung up on us. The dishonesty from Humberto, the hostess Angelina, and the first manager we spoke to left a terrible taste in our mouths. Businesses should be held accountable for this kind of behavior. We will never return. We have everything recorded but can't upload because it's too long. I have attached picture of the Manager and Hostess that offered us the lie and the GM that provided us the bag and hung up in our face! We also emailed Corporate as well and hopefully we will hear back from them, because this type of behavior is NOT OKAY!

I’ve been here a couple of times now - and that’s saying something. The food is tasty, with some great options if you like a bit of heat. The jalapeño margarita is my go-to: simple, sour, spicy, and surprisingly refreshing. Portions are generous, ingredients fresh, and everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious. I’m looking forward to working my way through the rest of the menu. But what really makes this place shine is the service. Anna and Angel are just awesome, as is the rest of the crew. Even though I’d only been there once before, on my second visit I was greeted like an old friend. Simply a great experience all around. I can already tell this will be one of my regular hangouts for Tex-Mex. Keep up the fantastic work! Cheers...Chris

Our server Gustavo made the night exceptional. He was incredibly attentive — checking in just the right amount, offering suggestions and always with a warm smile. The timing of food service was perfect, and he made sure we never felt rushed. Will definitely ask for him again next time!

We had such a wonderful experience at Mi Cocina! From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly. Our server, Angel, was absolutely amazing—attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, full of flavor, and served fresh and hot. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and incredible food—we’ll definitely be back!

I honestly can't stay away from Mi Cocina for any more than 6-7 days. I'm fixin' to be the size of TX if I don't slow down here. My schedule and routine have been so different that it's drastically affecting my eating habits (not eating at all, then over eating- it's all bad!). The place in town that feels most comforting for me is Mi Cocina. I'm not certain if it's because it's the first spot my bff and I shared dinner the week I moved into the neighborhood or what the reason is. I've seen people talk their shi* online about them being no good and I find it laughable because I know I'm not typically easy to please and I honestly can't find a single thing to not like about them. When people mention places lacking flavor or seasoning I can say for a fact, my kitchen has over 90 seasonings that I cook and bake with on a regular basis. My palate would know if they lacked flavor, like what type of flavor are we talking about here?!? Maybe their beef with them is political (which is even more hilarious) but on that note- even the beef enchilada is tasty! They are consistent and I love consistency. I'm a creature of habit and while I know that habit shouldn't include smothering spicy queso blanco atop two enchiladas but this dinner plate and the mambo taxi with a Tajin rim are about the only things keeping me sane nowadays. I really like this location. I always sit in the bar at a booth or at the bar. I'm always by myself because well that's life, and when I have guests in town I take them here. Service is always outstanding!

Met up with a couple Nancy has known for several years, Robert & Linda. We ate lunch at Mi Cocina in Plano. Nancy had the "Taco Salad"; Picadillo Beef, Romaine, Iceberg Lettuce, Aged Cheddar, Jack Cheese, Avocado, Tomato, Pico de Gallo, y Tortilla Strips. I ordered the "Tacos Habana"; Chile Adobo Chicken, Onion, Cilantro, Corn Tortillas, Pica-Pica, Avocado Ensalada, y Arroz Verde. They also provide you with fresh chips and red sauce to enjoy while there, and they refill often. We chatted for some time before ordering, while eating, and after eating. It's been a long time since they last saw each other and had a lot to catch up on. Our food arrived, and all was a beautiful presentation. Each Mexican Restaurant serves its food differently, and they did that with the Taco Salad. The Shell is filled with Picadillo Beef to the top with the rest of the goodies underneath and all around. Nancy enjoyed all that she ate, and I finished off the rest - and it was all good stuff. Nicely seasoned beef and very tasty Taco Salad. My Tacos Havana was also very good, and a good amount of everything. I ate all of mine - no leftovers here. The chips and red sauce were also really good, with just the right amount of spiciness. I recently went to Mi Cocina with family on a Friday night. We didn't have a reservation and we only had a short wait. Though they had a large party down the middle of the room & it was hard to get between their chairs, I'm not sure how the servers kept coming back & forth. Our server also seemed new & nervous. He didn't write down things we asked for so we usually had to ask a couple times. The food was great! I usually order the chili relleno which I don't think is on the menu but man it's so good! This time I decided to try a salad. Omg! It was AMAZING! When I first got it, I was like this thing is so small but then I started eating it & it lost its shape & figured out it was huge. I didn't finish it. I do wish there was slightly more chicken & a little less dressing but those are easy requests. Overall I enjoyed the food & would go back.

Dinner at Mi Cocina was such a vibe! Came here with my husband for a date night and everything was spot on. We got the beef fajitas -- they came out sizzling, loaded with perfectly grilled steak, onions, peppers, and crispy potato wedges. So good! All the sides were fresh -- guac, pico, beans, rice, and chips -- super tasty and plenty to share. We sat outside on the patio with a glass of red wine, and it was just the perfect chill evening. Service was great too -- friendly and fast without being too much. Definitely one of our go-to spots now when we're in Plano!

So my parent's and invited us for dinner and I did not know ahead of time that this is where we were going because if I had, I would have made sure that we got there much earlier than we did simply because of the fact that it was Friday night and it was going to be incredibly busy. So for table of seven, we had to wait about 30 minutes which wasn't too bad. We had a couple of people that are elderly and so they definitely needed a place to sit and there was only one place to sit otherwise you would have to sit in the bar area. The waitress was great, but I forgot to get her name. She was very on point with making sure that all of our desires were met appropriately. Great service from her and we definitely appreciate it. Food was definitely good and quite wholesome.

Felipe did an outstanding job serving our family of four. He pays attention to details and was extremely kind and helpful. The following od was delicious as always.

Boy, we had great food and service this afternoon. They were packed at 4:15, surprisingly, and probably a little short handed so it wasn't fast but they made up for it with great service and food. They're my favorite Mexican food res for a reason! I had the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce which were perfect and my husband had the Cocina Changa! That looked so good I might branch out and Try it next weekend! Thanks for a great meal!

Long time Mi Cocina goer, first time at this location. I like it! Obviously, the Mambo Taxi speaks for itself. If it you don't know want that is, just order it. My two go to dishes here are the Mi Tierra chicken nachos or the crunchy beef tacos with the grilled veggies. The grilled veggies are soooo tasty! The bar area has TVs that have good views from any of the seats. Their patio overlooks a water feature and it's a good size.

Very professionalism the wire my food was less tasty, I wasn't happy with it, food ordered the manger give full credit..Next time I will go there try different dish.

This is the second Mi Cocina spot I have been too in Dallas and this was way better than the other one. First off the ambiance was great. There was indoor and outdoor. Was seated outdoor per request and they had a small pond of water outside which was really nice the warm weather. Service was good gave us refills on their chips and salsa, which was very good. I ordered the number 10 special which was the pork tamales with rice and beans. The presentation, portion and taste were all great. Would recommend coming here for their lunch special as you get a good amount of food for a good price

Absolutely love this place. Been here a few times over the past few weeks (unembarassingly). The staff is super helpful and kind. Drinks are AMAZING and unique. Love the Mi Cocina platter and Skinny Smash. Flautitas and fajitas are great. Honestly can't go wrong here.

First of all, I have never had ground beef in enchiladas. I will leave it at that. Let's be honest, I am surrounded by A LOT of good Mexican food but, I am also not a fan of Tex Mex. I've tried. This is my 3rd time in Dallas visiting my friend and each time I leave thinking "people like this?" I'm sorry! It's just a preference. I met a lady at the airport who even brought this place up! I don't want queso with every meal and all the queso's I've tried has been okay. I've had a better one at a restaurant in Palm Springs. The service was fantastic so I gave it 3 stars. It was also fun to hang out with my friend and her friends. (sorority sisters -- we old though) The salsa was good. I enjoyed that. Oh, and something about the mambo taxi being dangerous.

We love to go to mi cosina lakeside because it never fails the food and atmosphere are great the mangers are always around always come to the table to say hello I am in love with nachos al carbon the fajita beef and fajita chicken combo our waiter was Julio very nice and polite young man who is very courteous he recommended the mambo taxi and didn't fail it was delicious and frosty Im gonna recommend this restaurant to all my friend and family l

I used to love Mi Cocinis in Addison, Texas. Then they had a fire and may began to work with the shop at Legacy and moved to Frisco, Texas. After moving to West Plano, I thought great, can't wait to give them a try again. Well, we did, twice and both times we came an hour before closing, and they couldn't wait for us to get out of the restaurant. The service was terrible and the food was nothing get excited about to going to Gloria's although the prices are similar. Last time we were there which was last week they literally swept the floor right up in front of our booth as in not so subtle indicator that they were ready for us to leave. Unbelievable unsanitary thing to do while you're eating a meal! We won't be back, but we will be back to Gloria's in Frisco that has better food, better, Customer Service and has never put a pile of floor droppings in front of my table in the two decades that I've gone there to eat. Forget the mambo taxis they are not the same as they used to be and this establishment is not a place that I will ever support with my dollars again. If this is what they do upfront with customers, I would hate to see what their kitchen looks like. Do yourself a favor and don't go there.

I came to this location on Sunday for Mothers day, everything from the start was perfect. The hostess were very welcoming, our server made our experience memorable. And all managers came around asking if everything was good which made us know they really care about their customers. I got the Cocina Platter and it was delicious ! Will most definitely be coming back to this location !!

We ate lunch at this location yesterday. This location has a great covered outdoor dining area with ceiling fans to keep you cool and plenty of shade. The patio is built overlooking a small pond with fountain and adds to the ambiance. I ordered the Tacos de Pescado (Grouper) and they were absolutely amazing! The unsweet iced tea was some of the best I have had. The queso (yellow) was good too. My husband ordered the steak fajitas and enjoyed them. Our waiter was attentive and wonderful. He even got me an iced tea to go. Definitely my favorite Mi Cocina to dine at because of the great service and patio.

Mi cosina lake is the one of the greatest mi cosina in Texas the atmosphere and the workers are so nice and polite I enjoy the food every time I go with my husband I love the nachos a carbon Liz or Elizabeth is my favorite waitress so nice and polite and just a all around great attitude if you ever have a problem with your food the managers solve your issues everytime please if you like good service and family originated place to eat please visit MI Cosina Lakeside

The lakeside location is by far my favorite mi cocina! I've tried multiple locations but this one is the best. Great service the food is always fresh and the patio is beautiful. All the employees try their best to make us feel comfortable!

Been here a million times, can't believe we never reviewed the place. Sat on the patio tonight overlooking the pond, food was perfectly prepared and mambo taxis just made the day end better. Chips were endless and the waiter was perfect. Perhaps one of the best table service experiences ever. Our family really enjoyed ourselves tonight, thank you!

Had a very positive dining experience here with good food, good friends, and good vibes. Our server Arman was very upbeat, and friendly going above and beyond to satisfy our dining experience. I felt like I was checked up on while not feeling too much pressure or rushed.

For a place that is so popular, the queso is a no. We started with the regular queso and returned it for the queso blanco. The queso is just flavorless... how does that even happen? The margaritas are okay. When our server brought out the waters and our margaritas.. it looked like she brought us 4 waters because the margs were so clear. Nonetheless, they tasted alright. I had the tortilla soup with very little chicken (I prefer it this way) and thank God because that chicken was really dry. I also asked for no tortilla chips in my soup. To amp up the taste of the soup I added the juice of two lemon wedges and a spoonful of salsa. Yum! Our server was very nice and took great care of us.

Elizabeth service was awesome made sure my family and I were taken care of. very attentive and gave great recommendations will definitely be coming back and recommending friends to come as well.

the manager here consistently lets non service animals into the restaurant and allows them to sit on the chairs and tables. a huge health code violation. since the manager has failed to do ANY kind if research i will do it for them. only service animal are allowed in a restaurant dining room. the disabled person canbe asked two questions: 1) is the animal required because of a disability, and 2) what tasks is the animal trained to perform? dogs must have 4 paws MUST be on the ground UNLESS performing a task. you can request the removal of a service animal if it is out of control and its handler does not take effective action to control it, or if the animal is not housebroken. Unacceptable behaviors include biting, growling, uncontrolled barking, jumping on people, or running away from the handler. If a service animal is removed, the individual with the disability must still be offered the opportunity to obtain goods, services, and accommodations. now that ive done the research for management hopefully theyll be better equipped. next time im calling the health department and requesting corporates number.

Mi Cocina is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Plano. The service, especially from Elizabeth, is second to none. She takes great care of my party every time we come here and there's just something special about someone remembering what you like to drink or eat. The food here is great too. I've never had anything I didn't enjoy. If you're looking for a friendly and inviting atmosphere, great service and great food, visit this Mi Cocina. Top notch in every way!!

Five star tonight !... This is one of my regular go to places.... Up and down sometimes..... But tonight, Like I was telling Ariana - it's tough to meet expectations when a customer comes in with high expectations - but i did, and they did !.... Ariana was great as usual.....food was fantastic - from my simple queso Blanco with meat to my shrimp brochette .... Thanks ~

We got serve by the most genuine person today Ms Liz her service was amazing and she was very kind and went out her way to make sure our first time experience at mi cocina could be satisfying if I could rate her service it would be 10/10

Wow, this was the most laughable excuse o "Tex-Mex" I've ever had. All of the items on the menu seem to be oldies-but not goodies. For the HORRIBLE service to the actual drinks and the meals, this place felt like it was robbing me when I could have gotten better at a taco truck. Upon walking in, you think the atmosphere is nice and upscale, thinking it's a treat. It wasn't. My boyfriend and were the last of our party to show up for our family dinner. When we got there, his parents were already saying that they didn't like the mojitos-- that it was missing the sweet aspect of the drink. They told the server it is missing the touch of sweetness and that it is very bitter. The waiter took their drinks and said that "he'll do it himself". After he came back, the mojitos were better. Weather or not he made it himself remained unclear. Upon settling in, the boyfriend and I asked for waters and sweet teas and a salsa for us because all the salsa was eaten by our family members. The waiter said OK, and went to go get them. It took the waiter 30 minutes to bring us back water. He forgot the salsa and neglected to tell us that they didn't serve sweet tea in their restaurant-- we were disappointed so the boyfriend ordered a margarita. By the way, their salsa is like smooth red colored vinegary sauce-- there are no chunks of tomato, onion or cilantro in it. I feel like it comes from a jar. Then as we were settling in to read the menu, the boyfriends dad ordered queso and guacamole for the table. Those weren't bad. They were okay and average. But now as we are talking and eating the queso and guac, we are running out of water, and so did the boyfriends young nephew but out of Sprite. It took this waiter another 10 minutes to come back with the sprite but not the water??? Was he purposefully ignoring the boyfriend and I ?? The boyfriends mother tried to get another waiters attention, and I SWEAR he saw her, he just ignored her as our table wasn't HIS table. Next was time to order our meals. The boyfriend does not like lettuce and he said, "NO lettuce anywhere on the plate. NOT even as a garnish" as he has a mild allergy to lettuce and makes him itchy. Guess what was on the plate? A full side salad of lettuce. Could this waiter not hear us? At this point we were basically shouting because the dining room was packed. So my boyfriend and his mother switched entrees because her meal had no lettuce on it. Even my boyfriends young nephew said he hear the boyfriend say no lettuce, and he knows every time we are out to eat my boyfriend says, "Not even as garnish." to the point of little kid copy cat..... What was this waiter's deal? Going on to MY meal, I ordered tacos de camarones...... CHEWIEST shrimp I had in my life, I had to double take because normally octopus or squid is chewy. Is THIS the BEST Tex-Mex food DFW has to offer? I'd rather drive to Houston for my fix. It's laughable and I can get better shrimp tacos and salsa from a food truck. I felt bad that my boyfriends father had to pay almost $200 for our family meal, and I felt bad that my boyfriends sister and brother shelled out for a cash tip.

I like the location, food and service here. The menu could be improved in my opinion since it is too simple.

Mi cocina is just ok.  We went on a Thursday night and it was very packed.  I got the veggie fajitas with no mushrooms.  I expected to see zucchini, squash and carrots.  While there were zucchini no squash and little bit carrots.  For some reason there was cabbage.  It didn't come with sour cream and guacamole.  The sour cream was extra.  I also got the sunset sauce which people rave about on the side. It was just spicy queso to me.  The sunset sauce also costed extra.  For the price I paid I feel as though there are better places in plano for veggie fajitas.

It was a pleasant surprise walking into Mi Cocina. The layout was very comfortable and the full bar was impressive. As I was following the hostess to our table I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Ninjas! Okay not ninjas but a guy who appeared with chips & salsa before I was tucked nicely in my chair. I noticed that this was happening with every new table being sat. Then I watched these guys rush to a table that needed to be cleared. It took no longer than a couple of minutes after the people stood up to leave that they were there cleaning the table. I was in awe. I never knew a restaurant could run so efficiently. Our waiter showed up pretty quick as well. I wish I could remember his name. He was nice & on top of everything. Food. We ordered queso & man o man. Oh Lordy. Steak fajitas! The steak couldn't be more tender. I like the fact that the steak was cut thin & cooked perfectly. The taste was out of this world. The fixings were fresh & plentiful. I was disappointed that sour cream & cheese wasn't included but I did ask for them & he was happy to bring me some. Oh yes. I have to mention the guacamole. It is one of the best I've ever had. The huge chunks of avocado were plentiful & so tasty. Huge thumbs up. Another surprise was having my water refilled. It stayed full by any waiter who saw we needed one. Something that doesn't usually happen anywhere else. I also noticed the manager walking the floor. She was helping out when necessary which is something I don't see nearly enough. What a wonderful lady to talk too. Thank you Liliana Marin for showing such pride in what you do. Your employees are lucky to have you! We will be back!!

Food came out very quickly (per usual) and it was great! If you want a quick Mexican dinner, mi cocina is it. Be aware though - it is a little on the pricier side for the amount you get. Not my all time favorite Mexican place but definitely a staple!

We love Mi cocina!!! Specially if you looking for awesome Tex Mex food in Plano!!! The bartender Felix he was very friendly and on top of it. Would definitely come back to this location.

First off, mi cocina is one of my favorite restaurants. We came here expecting to order to go due to lives; however we were able to find seating at the bar. The service was superb. We were in and out in less than 30 mins, which was perfect. The tacos were delicious and they also brought us complimentary chips and salsa to go. I always purchase the Classico tacos and they did not disappoint. They were delicious as always.

Ian was a great server at Mi Cocina at the Star in Frisco! He was timely, kind and provided such great service on the outside patio. Be sure to ask for him the next time you visit!

This was fair. The cost was ok. It is definitely not Mexican, more tex-mex. It was nice and nice people.

Five stars because my server Jose went above and beyond to take care of me and my family he gave us great recommendations since we are new to the area and it was our first time dining here. Jose made sure to continue to check in on us and not let our drinks get empty I really appreciate that. Food came out quickly and was delicious definitely recommend will continue to come back for Jose.

Having dined at this location before a few times, after an appointment in the shopping center I decided to stop by this location since they're generally one of the better Mi Cocina locations, and today did not disappoint! My mother and I were seated very quickly and our waiter was with us fast. The ambience in the restaurant was nice and relaxed, the setting is upmarket but casual, and noise is never too high. The food was delicious and was out quickly. My fajitas were perfect and my mom loved the tacos she ordered. Portions were perfect and worth the prices charged. Our waiter was also great, we never had to ask for refills and he knew exactly when and when not to be there. Overall the experience was good and I'll be back again soon!

My server Ahah F was amazing. She helped me create the perfect margarita. I was dining alone, but I didn't feel alone!

Recently visited Plano & someone suggested we eat here. Thank goodness! We had such a pleasant experience from the minute we walked in. We were greeted by the staff & the service was quick & our server was kind and helpful! The atmosphere was very enjoyable and made for a nice little outing. Not to mention the food was delicious! We will definitely be coming back next time we are in town.
