Mi Cocina

It was so good, we ate too much. That is pretty much everyone was saying afterwards. Shrimp tacos were delicious, a bit too salty. A little too much salt but juicy and tasty Waitress was very nice, brought us all the salsas since it was our first time and all were delicious. Enjoyed our first visit very much! Highly recommended for other to try this place.

We just had a fantastic lunch at Mi Cocina! The food was delicious and came out incredibly fast. To start, the queso was excellent. My wife loved her chicken quesadillas, and my two cheese enchilada lunch special hit the spot perfectly—great flavor and a perfect lunch portion. However, what truly made this visit special was the outstanding service from our waiter, Daniel C. He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Excellent service really elevates a meal, and Daniel C. delivered 100%. We highly recommend Mi Cocina, especially if you get Daniel C. as your server!

An interesting Tex-Mex restaurant experience in that it has a high end vibe with the decor, attitude, menu meal names, and food presentation. But half of the food was not to my liking. I did like their tamales and how they were plated, with the chili sauce under them. I prefer to eat them plain and most restaurants cover them with the sauce. The masa had excellent texture and the filling was of good quantity, flavorful with enough spice kick for a pleasant experience. Their rice was very light, fluffy and favorable. Their guacamole is the best I've eaten at a restaurant, but wished the tortilla chips were better. I'm sure there are patrons who come here often, but, in our opinion, the experience and food was not enough for us to add it to our list.

I live in Austin and while visiting family in Rockwall yesterday we chose Mi Cocina for an early lunch and what a great experience. It felt cold when we walked in so I asked to be seated in the warmest section and the hostess did exactly that so we were quite comfortable. We had the Queso blanco and Guacamole for appetizers then the Shrimp brochette with Mexican rice and mixed lunch Fajitas. The food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner, fresh and hot. Our server Maddy was very attentive, accommodating and so friendly. She gave us menu suggestions when we asked. She checked on us frequently and when we were ready to leave she brought us our "to go" boxes and actually filled them for us. The manager, Gloria, came by twice to check in with us to make sure all was well. The restaurant is spacious and easy to get to with plenty of parking. They have a bar, a comfortable waiting area and an outdoor patio. I highly recommend Mi Cocina for a quality Tex-Mex meal and hopefully you'll have Maddy taking care of you!

Yanin was a great server and kind she gave service with a smile. Also the tres leches chocolate cake is fire. I would come here just for the cake. The rest of the food was fresh and amazing too. 10 out of a 10.

I LOVE Mi Cocina in Rockwall! I am a regular and am usually sitting at the bar a couple of times a week. The food is always fast and excellent. The atmosphere is like Cheers - your favorite bar. And the service is amazing! My fav's are Linda, Hugo, and Anita. If they weren't there, I definitely wouldn't go as often. I love going and seeing all the regulars and catching up. It's a great time, and that's all because of the atmosphere that Linda, Hugo and Anita create. They turn it into a neighborhood hang-out.

My wife and I have been to Mi Cocina in Rockwall twice now. We have had the BEST experience each time. Both of our servers have been so friendly, relatable, and knowledgeable. And our food has been excellent. We have gotten the beef fajitas twice now. The beef is so tender and flavorful… And just unique compared to other beef fajitas I’ve gotten. All of the veggies and guac that come with it are very fresh. We have also gotten the Pollo Moderno and tortilla soup which were both excellent as well. Really can’t recommend this place enough!!

Heavy traffic and construction to get to the restaurant but worth it! The food was great and skinny mambo and skinny smash was refreshing on a summer day! I sat at the bar and the staff were prompt and friendly.

Mi Cocina is one of those local spots you can always count on. I had the Tacos de Brisket on flour with rice & side salad ~ juicy and flavorful as always. The chips and hot sauce are easily in my top 10 favorites anywhere! I sat at the bar, and the service was good. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with genuine Spanish music playing in the background. Always a reliable go-to for great food, good service, and that classic Mi Cocina vibe. My husband and I visited here a couple of days ago. We are traveling with our pet and were pleased to find out that the patio is pet friendly and heated to boot! I had the fajitas sunset style, and my husband had sunset enchiladas. We both enjoyed our meals. Jennifer (our server) was fantastic!!! 10 out of 10. If I'm out here again, I'll be sure to ask for her.

We have been to this location multiple times, but this time we had Hugo as our bartender. From the moment we walked in he was so friendly & welcoming! He had a smile on his face & gave specific drink suggestions that were amazing!! He listened to our modifications & our food came out absolutely PERFECT! There was also a very unpleasant & difficult guest sitting next to us that Hugo handled very professionally & respectfully. Kudos to him! We will definitely be back to see him!!

Mi Cocina's has always been dependable, flavorful and fresh Tex-Mex. For years it's been the only place I would constantly get a margarita when visiting, but they have made a totally unneeded change. No more salting the rim instead they now salt one side of the glass????? Now I guess you lick the side of the glass or your hand that is now full of salt. Makes zero sense

Nicely decorated but really dark and kinda sad atmosphere. Food was ok but I've had better at the other locations, wife got the steak nachos and I got the lunch special #5. Chicken was really dry and the steak on the nachos was chewy. Wife had a Mambo Taxi Drink and she stated that the location in Frisco makes them way better. Our waitress Bianca was awesome and very friendly.

Food was delicious, service was great, perfect place to come dine in and eat. Recommended

Having a rough day, going into Mi Cocina, had chicken fajitas, amazing, last time I had them the chicken was precooked and cold, this time it was perfect, the chicken being good is important to me as I'm not a big fan of rice, beans or tortillas, , I do like the salsa, guacamole and pico. Thankful for my lunch today, sorry my photo was after I had eaten. Shoulder of taken before. The fajitas are only 20$ great serving size, only down fall, was a broken light too bright, drunk woman cussing, luckily she moved to finish her next cocktail, then things were sweet, then man with too much cologne oh my , whyyyyy?? Anyway, service was wonderful,

Our server Tadeo was absolutely amazing. His service skills are outmatched! Been coming here since its inception. Food is always good and usually the service is good. No problems there. But the prices? Oh my! Biden-inflation! C'mon man! I'm not joking. 21.45 lunch fajitas 7.95 cup queso (not bowl) 8.95 cup bean soup (not bowl) 8.95 cup tortilla soup (not bowl) 21.95 fajita nachos 12.00 margs For what you get...too expensive for my blood. Had lunch there today with my BFF. The food was great and our waiter Jesse was a 12 out of 10. He was wonderful can't wait to go back!

However, they heated up the corn tortillas alongside the flour ones, and the seasoning on the meats could not be guaranteed to be gluten-free. I was informed of this after the fact, and I ended up sick for days."

Love their food, the staff are amazing! We eat out on patio when weather permits. I don't care for the dark atmosphere inside.

First of all our Waitress Alicia was amazing! 5+ stars for her. This was our first visit and it was for our 9th wedding anniversary. Alicia was so helpful and knowledgeable with the menu for suggestions. We got the chicken tacos and the chimichanga. So much food. Plus they gave us a free appetizer. Got the strawberry margarita and they are great. Definitely made the right choice for our anniversary dinner.

TL: DR: Luis is an amazing waiter and made our Father's Day really great! My family had such a great experience at Mi Cocina today. And it was ALL about the service. I've always felt the food at Mi Cocina is white people Mexican food. But for that, it's pretty good. But let me tell you about the service today. Holy hell. If waiters got raises or promotions, I'd be trying to talk to this dude's boss. I THINK his name was Luis, and he might have been one of the best waiters I've ever had. I lived in Mexico for quite a while, and the service in Mexico usually puts the service in the US to shame. But this was just outstanding service, better than I've gotten in Michelin Rates Mexican restaurants. First of all, my Spanish sucks. So I always want to practice every chance I get. I told Luis (I really wish I was sure of the name) that I needed practice, he told me that I would have to order for the whole table. And then he pretty much quit speaking English for the whole meal. My siblings speak Spanish so they were teasing me about mine, but he would guide me or correct me in a super friendly, even funny way. He was so much fun. Let me also state that his English was without even a touch of an accent. So it's not like it was easier for him to speak Spanish (it might have been, but probably not really.) He was just being that nice. But even without the Spanish lesson, he was great. My 70 year old mother has lots of dietary restrictions. I relayed them to him and he stood there for a minute discussing with her ways she could change dishes to suit her needs. It worked out, she LOVED her enchiladas and they had nothing on them she couldn't have. She never takes food home, and she took half her meal home so she must have loved it. I lamented that I couldn't have one of the amazing margaritas that everyone else was having because I had a long drive and also didn't want to be drunk at the gym. So you know what he did? He made me one to go. (It's delicious, Oh Em Gee!) Nothing on our table ever got empty. Not our chips. Not our salsa. Not our waters. Not their margaritas. Nothing. The service was absolutely exceptional. He was also kind of a ninja. My tea appeared out of nowhere (like half a second after I asked for it) and refilled magically as well. All in all, the food was okay but the service was just great.

This place is a must visit. I am a regular at this location. I don't go for just one topic I go for the whole experience. The ambiance, food, service, drinks. We sit at the bar typically unless we have the grand kids with us. But anytime we go, the relationship we have built with the staff and management is irreplaceable. I give this place every bit of 5 stars. I'm not saying they don't make mistakes now and then (VERY few and far between) but they will do their absolute best to make sure it is right and that you have a pleasant experience before you leave. Therman is a wonderful manager and is 100% involved in every aspect of the business. I absolutely love ALL my bartenders that serve us. Their attention and service are top notch and professional. We've been going here for years and will continue to do the same for many more. Have a blessed day everyone.

Best restaurant in Rockwall with the absolute best bartenders and wait staff. Don't get me started on Thurman the manager! Top notch management. If you want a place to call home for a great eating experience look no further than MiCocina Rockwall. Linda, Nancy Denise, X, Daniel are the best bartenders. You know they are good when they know what you want to order and have it ready when you walk in the door.

Timothy M was my waiter this morning. he was very friendly, provided excellent customer service, and was so personal. he recommended guacamole and it was so fresh. I can always trust that the service will be 5 star when Timothy is waiting on my family. He is a star employee. Edward is an excellent waiter. great food. We will always ask for him. Spinach and chicken enchiladas were delicious. But everything we've ever had here has been delicious.

We have been going there for years, average, once or twice a week. We live an hour and 1/2 away from the location. I ordered fajitas to go. When we got home. There was only 3 corn tortillas, no cheese and no sour cream included. They also added potato wedges to the fajitas. What is that? Are you cutting down on the amount of fajitas meat? To go orders be ware, check your order before leaving. Very disappointed.

I've visited a couple of times recently and ordered the breakfast quesadillas with brisket and eggs. The food is good and our server (Daniel) is the best in the house. Highly recommend Daniel!

Don't come here on Saturday at noon! Every seat was taken, it was buzzing like a high school cafeteria, and waitstaff was stressed to their limits. If every parking space is taken already, keep driving, that is the sign... The venerable, and stalwart Mi Cocina of Rockwall, TX has been a local watering hole for 2 generations, now they bring a 3rd. Successful. As you walk inside, the dimmed lighting, and rich wood tones, and comfy booths let you relax. I could not count all the seating, seemed like 80? All that said, this meal was on level with Arboledas, and lately, even they have struggled. The kitchen is to blame, also their managers, and the owners. Just a little bit of true leadership, with the strength to make changes in the kitchen, and this can all be cured. Make a menu for seniors, that they can read in the dim lighting inside Mi Cocina. Many of us are caring for elderly family members. Maybe look at menus in the lobby, which has good lighting, then proceed to the table.

Couldn't tell you how the food tasted because our waitress (lady with glasses, we sat by the area the staff placed the orders on the wall) hadn't brought out our queso or taken our food order in about 20 minutes of us sitting there after place our drink and appetizer order. Terrible servicer Hostesses were nice and professional Place was nice and clean.

The food, service and vibes are top notch at Rockwall Mi Cocina. I frequent once a week and always sit in the bar. Linda and Nancy always provide excellent service and they make the best margaritas. The food is always on point. The manager is very friendly and always checks how things are going. I would highly recommend!

Waited over an hour for a to go order that was placed online hours before it was supposed to be ready. None of the staff really seemed to care. Understandably, it's busy, but no urgency to get pre-planned orders out anywhere near scheduled time. I will no longer order anything to go here since this location does not prioritize any of their to go customers. Absolutely ridiculous to just have to stand at the bar for an hour.

Had Danielle twice now. Great service, great food. Will certainly come again. Drinks look great, will defiantly try them.

Nothing we ordered had flavor. Queso blanco was flavorless. Sent that back. Fajitas has 0 flavor. No amount of salt helped it. Don't bother...

Why not start the new years with a yummy meal out. It was our first time out and wasn't sure what to expect based on reviews so figured it was time to try. It was a quiet evening and was quickly sat. Our server, Jake, was so professional and friendly. We ordered the guac and chili con queso (I meant queso Blanco but I am still learning to specify). Personally, I think the quac needed some more flavor and of course I wanted Blanco.... So I was a bit worried. But, from there on out everything was fantastic. He had the handmade marg and I had some kind of drink with grapefruit. Both yummy. But the winner was the bacon wrapped shrimp. Wow. Fantastic. Next time, we are ordering two! He then got the shrimp fajitas, sunset style. Plenty of shrimp and cooked perfectly. Next time he said hed get it normal style but sunset sauce on the side. I got the change... Wowser. That thing was huge and chicken so moist. I ate it for dinner and lunch. We both decided we will be back soon. What a great meal to start the new year. (Only giving 4 stars due to guac and chili con queso... Next time, skipping those and guaranteed an 5 star!)

I think a Tex-Mex restaurant's flagship menu item should be their queso and salsa, that said "Mi Covina's queso is the most god awful canned soup crap I have ever eaten"! The salsa was not bad but all I will remember is that it was crushed tomatoes with a nice heat to it. How can you mess up fajitas? There was no seasoning on the meat and the onions and peppers were more steamed than seared and also season-less. Blah The salsa chips were good, but good chips does not a good meal or experience make! Really nice ambiance, you'd never know the kitchen couldn't produce good food.

Big disappointment. I used to live in Dallas and loved our neighborhood Mi Cocina. But that was before it expanded to having dozens of locations around the Metroplex. This location in Rockwall was meh at best. Our waiter was pretty inattentive. The food was just average. The menu didn't have the options it used to and these were just your basic Tex-Mex items. Even the chips and salsa were lacking the flavor I remembered. Not sure if other locations are better, but based on this experience, I'm in no rush to try them.

We had dinner at the Rockwall location and had the best Chicken Fajitas. The restaurant is always clean and very nice. Our server, Yanina was very attentive, and so sweet. We never had to ask for a refill on our drink, because she was checking on us for anything we might need. Great place.

I've always loved coming to any Mi Cocina , the food is always fresh, the service is always on par, and the drinks always hit home. The experience I get here always has me craving for more and wanting to try all of the different dishes they make . I don't know what else to really say cause to me this place is perfection in my eyes lol. I'll definitely be back to try out more stuff.

This is the worst Mi Cocina I have been to. Make sure you check your itemized check because I have found that they upcharge on drinks. They will charge for top shelf as opposed to the one you ordered. This has happened on multiple occasions and I have brought it to the managers attention. I kept thinking I would give them another chance but since they keep up charging me on drinks and I do not think I will be back. Make sure you ask for an itemized statement and look at it closely because every time I visit and try to give them another chance, they try to add additional charges. The manager is not professional and blames the customer. No wonder they have few customers. Worst management I have ever experienced!

I'm not sure how this place is only rated 3.5 stars. This is a 5 out of 5! First of all the restaurant is beautiful. It looks like you are sitting down at a posh upscale dining experience while getting wonderful comfort food. The pineapple mojitos are to die for made by the bartender Edward Medina, not too sweet, just fresh and perfectly balanced. This is a no brainer must visit spot if you are in this area. The steak nachos and bacon wrapped shrimp mmmmmmhmmm

We were a party of twelve on 11/24 at 4 PM. We were assigned a waiter named John! He was the most amazing waiter I have experienced in a very long time. He was patient, polite, and exacting. He did not miss a beat with drinks, food, salsa, or chips. He remained calm with several requesting his presence at once. In closing - the food was adequate but John made it 5 star. If I owned a restaurant, I would hire him immediately.
