Mi Cocina Uptown

Had a great experience at Mi Cocina! The restaurant has a fancy and very clean atmosphere, and to our surprise, there was no wait—we were seated right away. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff. I asked our waiter for a fajita recommendation, and he confidently suggested the meat over the chicken. I went with the mix to try both, and he was absolutely right—the meat was the standout! Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I’d definitely come back.

The Uptown location of Mi Cocina maintains the same level of food quality as other locations but has its own distinct vibe. It feels modern, dare I say urban, and sheds the strip center aesthetic found in other spots. The team was eager to make sure we were cared for from the time we got there until we left. The next time HPV has an hour-plus wait, head over to Uptown for an alternative experience that may surprise you.

I recently dined at Mi Cocina, and it was a fantastic experience! I ordered the short rib fajitas, and they were phenomenal. The short rib was tender, full of flavor, and paired perfectly with the sizzling vegetables and warm tortillas. The portions were generous, and each bite was packed with a savory, smoky taste that made it a true Tex-Mex delight. Our server, Joel, was attentive and knowledgeable. He provided great recommendations and made sure our meal was flawless from start to finish. His friendly demeanor and prompt service really enhanced the overall experience. Packed even on a sunday evening which says how good it is. We managed to get a seat at the bar with no reservation which was complete luck. Food is totally authentic, even the vegan tacos were tasty.

Came here for a lunch with my Mimi and family. Was an awesome experience. Jaime was a phenomenal server. Never had to ask for refills on drinks or chips because he was so on point. Thank you and Merry Christmas Mi Cocina staff!

It's Mi Cocina. If you know Dallas, you're familiar with this local chain restaurant. The name alone makes it a solid go-to option. However, the food is just OK, not the best Tex-Mex in town, but the restaurant is a solid choice for out of town visitors and business gatherings. The menu offers various options for a reasonable price compared to other restaurants. The service is speedy. An important tip about this specific location is that you're better off doing valet for $5 than self parking for $10-$15.

Mi Cocina in Uptown is by far the best Mexican restaurant to go to. Our waiter, Joel, is AMAZING!!! Food was delicious as were the traditional margarita drinks. Any imperfections were immediately corrected, BEST SERVICE by far, ask for Joel!

This is a nice place to get Tex Mex in a fancy location. My husband used to live in Dallas, and he wanted to come to this area to get some Tex Mex. I think he hadn't realized the degree to which the area had gentrified. We ended up eating at Mi Cocina because it was the only Tex Mex option in Uptown (no, Velvet Taco doesn't count as Tex Mex, sorry). We were there for a late lunch on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded, and they were pretty attentive to our party that included two kids (they do have a kids menu). The setting is cool and elegant. They play Latin/Caribbean (mostly Cuban, a little Dominican) music rather than Mexican music. We started with an order of guac and an order of the yellow queso. The guacamole was excellent, and we all loved the freshly fried chips. I also loved the salsa that they automatically bring out. The queso was only okay to me, but my husband loved it. I had the lunch special brisket tacos. They were really good. I wish that they came with beans instead of the avocado salad, but only because I didn't like the dressing on the salad. Otherwise, I liked the green rice, and my daughter liked eating the veggies on my plate. My husband had the fajitas, and he liked them. My son had the kid crunchy beef taco, and he loved it. My daughter ordered a quesadilla, but they brought her an enchilada, and she did not like the enchilada sauce, so she ate more chips and the avocados and tomatoes from my salad. I ate some of her enchilada, and I thought the sauce was too salty. They have an Arnold Palmer on the menu, which is what I ordered. The iced tea was unsweetened, which was good, but the lemonade was clearly not housemade, and given the location, it seems like a disgrace to have an Arnold Palmer on the menu that uses Tropicana. Just saying. My husband asked for a silver tequila on the rocks, and they brought him reposado. It was an excellent tequila, but not what he ordered. I'm generally not a fan of chain restaurants, especially for things like Tex Mex, but apparently those are the only options in Uptown Dallas nowadays. And Mi Cocina isn't bad, it just isn't what I was hoping for on our one unscheduled meal in Dallas.

I love Mi Cocina. The menu is extensive and unique, but also has all the Tex Mex classics. Their Mambo Taxi (I recommend the skinny) is one of my top favorite margaritas of all time, if not the top. The service is always solid, staff is friendly. The ambiance is comfortable and lively. Definitely my go-to Tex Mex in Dallas!

FOREWARNING if you want to remember your dinner limit yourself to 2 twisted margaritas, they are dangerous even LETHAL because they taste so good but hit ya even gooder. Very high quality interior and presentation makes you wanna stay forever. The food is good nothing too impressive but overall the whole vibe and ambiance is one i recommend!!

The food was extremely good. Would have easily got 5 stars, but the hostess was not the best. Actually ended up leaving us as she directed us to our table. Then she couldn't validate parking correctly. Took a while to get the chips and salsa once seated. Drinks were good.

Did a to-go order yesterday of a simple enchilada plate. Came home to enjoy my food, until I saw some sort of plastic in my food. Definitely disappointed as this left me to wonder about the sanitary conditions of this location.

I came here with a friend after a long flight from Vegas. This spot did not disappoint. The atmosphere was calm with great music and the staff were amazing! They gave us a free Mexican candy shot for pride month!! The food is delicious and plenty of options for those who have diet restrictions. It's our new meet up spot! Can't wait to come back

I was so happy to come visit my favorite people at Mi Cocina Uptown, always great service, excellent drinks and of course my new favorite dish Tacos mi Tierra, love seating at the patio.

They have customers parked on the street, they obstruct the passage they can even cause accidents, they should fine this restaurant just that's what's happening today

Perfectly fine food. We sat upstairs and therefore had a limited menu, which made no sense. Not sure why walking up a flight of stairs means you can't order cheese enchiladas. Further, and more disappointing, was that I ordered the $16 beef nachos. I received four small nachos. $4 apiece for a chip, some cheese, tasty, but a minute amount of steak and some middle of the road guacamole. They might have been worth $8 or $10, but $16?! Hardly.

The food here is amazing ! I tried a little bit of everything we ordered . My favorites was the crunch brisket taco. Service was excellent and staff made sure to stop by the table often. The drink are delicious and strong. You only need a couple . The restaurant is clean and nice ambiance going on at night. There's also valet on the side street for $5. I can't wait to visit Dallas again to eat here .

Still think it's the best Mi cocina all around north Texas! Prior to coming to Mi Cocina on uptown we went to klyde Warren one and it was so crowded from an event that it was hard to even get to Valet. So we decide to go to uptown and definitely never disappoint! About a month ago we went to the one on Coit and Campbell and ask to get chori/queso and yes we know it's not in the menu anymore but we still can order it as a special request. Well anyways they said that they stop making it and my son really wanted that because that one of his favorite appetizers. We thought of asking at uptown and wallah they surely greeted us very nice but even the personal chef Lolo came and made our tacos at our table! Which that was an A plus to this location! He it's not only attentive, professional with us but also notice that with the rest of the tables! Thanks chef Lolo for your great customer service but over all your food is way beyond other restaurants!

I stopped for lunch and had the classic Ricardo Chicken salad, happy to see the food and service quality is still and always there ! My server Jesus was great I highly recommend!

This place was very overrated for my one time here. Marg and mambo taxi was absolutely amazing but wow tacos de ribeye.... NO... they were tacos de MOOOOOOO. They were still alive.

1st time here .... I like the previous location in uptown. So me and my family went here to celebrate my 60 birthday..went for dinner it was a week day. The food was served cold the flavors ok? The service was average.. Really disappointed will not return.

I love Mi Cocina.... We thought we would try this location in Uptown because they had a rooftop seating area. We were seated inside, in a very loud corner where we couldn't even see the outside though. Took the waiter 15mins to bring us waters and chips. We then waited another 15 for our drinks we ordered, then another 25 for our food. He had a large table next to us but we were his only 2 tables. Overall this was the worst experience we have had at a Mi Cocina and will not be back to this location. The best part about our experience was the nice guy at valet that was very helpful.

Service was great! My hubby and I visited for Valentines days. I got the chicken fajitas sizzling from the grill and my boyfriend got the crispy chicken enchiladas verde. All 10/10! Our go to drinks were the Frozen Mango Margarita and the signature Mi Cocina Margarita! Very strong and extremely tasty. Our server Kiante was wholesome and provided amazing hospitality checking in with us and making sure we were 100% satisfied!

Saul and Fabian were fantastic! They were located upstairs. Food was good and drinks delicious!

Went on a first date with a Ken doll. He was awesome, but my salad wasn't so much. To be fair, I'm a tamales out of a van type girl. So reviewing Mexican food is tricky for me. The restaurant was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. So maybe it's just me.

I have been wanting to visit this place since I've seen so many good reviews. I finally had a chance to try a chicken salad at one of their locations and it was pretty bland. There was nothing necessarily great about the food, but what really confused me was that they don't have any hot sauce. Maybe it was just the location I went to, but when I asked for it, they said the only hot sauce they had was their salsa, which had no spices at all. I think this is more of a Tex-Mex style restaurant, so not your authentic Mexican food. Also, no one spoke English, so maybe there was some type of language barrier. I just don't think the hype matches the quality of food but as far as service it was fine. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was attentive. I probably would not go back, but the place is self is pretty cool.

We had the Ceviche and the Apollo moderno. The ceviche was delicious and fresh, it's the perfect light meal. The pollo moderno was also savory and the veggies were a great added flavor! While our food came fast and we had water refilled often, the service is not the best. The hostess ignored us as she passed by us and only sat us once the manager came to us and he asked her to seat us. Our waiter stood in front of us and didn't speak to us until we spoke first to ask for some waters. However, once our food came he was a bit more vocal and they probably weren't having a good Sunday.

We came here to celebrate Father's day and we were not disappointed. Great service and friendly staff.

tbh, I am not even mad. they definitely curated this location for people to come together and have a good, social time, not to have a spectacular meal. The food was subpar, the drinks were nice, and the restaurant is beautiful. so it really is just a place to get together and mingle + I am not mad at that lol. our waiter was a little quirky and we enjoyed him!

Would not come back to this location- our service was bad, the food took forever, and they charged $12 for parking even though the sign said complimentary if you show receipt. Total rip-off. The food here is standard and always good but this location is not worth the other factors.

We checked out the upstairs patio (Seisegundo) for their Thursdays in July with casamigos. Initially, it was great, the gentleman was kind and offered us the complimentary drinks that was being promoted. Even though we were working on our first drink and waiting for our friends, we were constantly checked on. However, once our friends arrived, they ordered their drinks, it seemed like we were ignored. Eventually, I waved down the gentleman who spoke to us when we arrived and asked if us ladies could order a drink. He said 'of course', took our orders and went about. My friend's marg arrived but my drink never showed up. Other tables received their drinks that had ordered later and I eventually had to ask someone about my drink. It appears as if they had simply forgotten about it. No apology or anything was offered. Also, our friends that arrived after were not told or provided the complimentary drinks until we asked. My biggest peeve though, both drinks I had were taken away before they were finished. The first drink had at least 1/4 left and the second was shy shy of half left. This is crazy! Do not take my drink if it is not finished. Also, when someone asks to tab out, please provide the option of whether it stays on the card provided for the tab or if a change in method of payment is preferred. Definitely a fail for checking out this upstairs bar.

We ordered the mixed fajitas for 2 with corn tortillas, mambo margarita, and Eddie's chicken (I think it was called). The fajitas came out, and the portion was CaCa (keeping it PG)! Barely any meat and had potato slices throughout? Like huh? Where's the meat? Ive never seen fajitas served with potatoes and onions only. We had been here several times before without incident, so we asked the server if the menu had changed. He replied, " I don't know." Well ok? So unpleasant and overall underwhelming. Very disappointed.

Love coming here for happy hour/a casual drink. I have now been here two times and I enjoy the Mambo Taxi & their regular margaritas are great as well. This last time we tried the queso while we sat at the upstairs bar which was great and super tasty. I have had a meal here before but after an hour and a half wait on a busy night and a fewwww Mambo Taxis while waiting, the food was subpar. Overall I recommend this for apps like chips and dip and some drinks.
