Mi Espiguita

Somehow the online order was not received, so our wait was much longer than expected. Boooo! But once the order was ready, we were off to the races! We ordered the $1 Tacos (5 chicken and 5 pork) which come just the taco shell and meat, so adding toppings increases the price. We added onion, cheese, crema and avocado, so the total was 17$, a bargain for 10 tacos, and they don't skimp on the proteins, either. We added the Ramen Birria Combo, which came with a Birria Taco. Everything was so delicious, with the Birria taco and broth really shining. The ramen noodles were the basic Cup Noodles noodles, but not overcooked with some bite. And tons of meat in the ramen! The chicken tacos were better than the pork, but both really good. This spot was a definite winner. Strong 4.5++ out of 5.

Mi Espiguita is the real deal. The steak huaraches with avocado were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly, and the pambazos were insanely good. Fresh, authentic, and satisfying every bite. Definitely coming back.

I love coming to this place for the cecina tacos and the birria tacos are pretty good here. The food is fairly priced. It could be busy at times but I’ve seen that ordering online saves me time with them and I get a notification when my food is ready.

i stopped by mi espiguita in astoria and the staff were rlly sweet. the homemade tortillas and refried beans were yummy and tasted super fresh. everything else had absolutely no seasoning, ngl like not a single speck, but the service was great and they were super super kind the whole time.

Good, not great. Had a burrito de al pastor. Very large burrito, but too heavy on the lettuce. Didn't have any sauce in it (they do include a container of green sauce, but it wasn't spicy or terribly flavorful). Most of the flavor was on one side of the burrito, otherwise it was a bit more bland than what I was expecting. But still satisfying overall and probably better and more reasonably priced than the competition in the area. If you're craving Mexican and you're nearby, I'd give this place a try, just don't expect it to blow your mind.

i've only tried the birria tacos here. the consume broth was flavorful and good, but the meat was too dry. i walked in to place an order and had to wait a bit

This is my favorite Taco spot in NYC!! They have great food at pretty reasonable prices. The Tacos are good and authentic. The chicken Tacos are my favorite. The Staff are very friendly and the restraunt looks pretty nice. The meats taste fresh and the tortillas don't break easily which is good. I recommend and continue to recommend this place to anyone looking for good authentic Tacos at a decent price!!

Ok, the burrito has the size of a little dog. But my order missed flavor in my opinion, and yet it was packed with many ingredients I could not identify - separatly or mixed.

Mi Espiguita serves up hot, fresh Mexican food on 31st St near 34th Ave. While Astoria has no shortage of good Mexican restaurants, Mi Espiguita feels charming and sincere. They offer service through the apps, or you can walk right in to order. I've tried a few things here and never been disappointed. The tacos are huge; I like the chorizo and the al pastor. Burritos are solid as well, the typical New York style loaded with rice, beans, lettuce, and your choice of meat. Make sure to drizzle some salsa on top, and grab extra napkins for when you inevitably make a mess. Service is decent, but I do have some concerns about seeing employees eating staff meals while preparing food for customers, wearing the same gloves eating chips and wrapping burritos.

Great food! Workers provide great service. I do recommend ordering ahead of time because most of the time they are busy due to how many orders they receive. The ambiance here is very welcoming and the music is top tier with a mix of old classics and newer music . If you want to try a Mexican restaurant in Astoria this place is def the one to try.

TLDR- rating this a 2.5, my experience was pretty mixed. They were nice, but food took long and didn't taste worth the price. From what I've read online, and the vibe of the store, I was expecting a quick-and-easy taco place that served cheap, yet tasty dishes. I didn't get that, although it is possible I just ordered the wrong things (although I feel like I picked quite common ones). My food took about 10 minutes to get, with me being the second of two customers in the store. I didn't mind this aspect too much, as they were clearly grilling up my tacos fresh as I watched. However my combination of Al pastor, bistec, and cecina tacos was really disappointing. For $3.75 each, I found them to be pretty bland and *needing* the salsa. For comparison, there are so many places in Astoria or even Manhattan that I've had, that charge less than a dollar more, for a significantly higher quality. It just doesn't match the caliber, with their tacos being basically a slab of meat.

Nicely sized tacos and burritos and the prices are okay too. More for pickup and delivery I'd say.

A simple plain unfancy Mexican food joint in Astoria that's worth the visit cause food is good and food is not pricey and they give you plenty .My cuz likes this joint and he took me here for tacos and burritos which I like as well. Tacos , burritos, tostados, enchiladas and more . We grabbed a table near a bunch of giggling bimbos who where on tik tok and thank God the lady came over with our feast .The decor is plain but nice and bright with plenty of tables and they keep the place very clean .The chicken tacos with sauce on the side was filling enough for me. Will be back to try more on the menu .

The service was super fast and they definitely do not skimp on meat here! To me, the meat did taste pretty bland and at some points dry. The quesadilla was huge and seems like the tortilla seems to be homemade. I would come back for the quesadilla!

Well-loved small place with a lot of regulars it seems. Great food, especially the fresh handmade tortillas. The sopes are delicious, and big. Breakfast burrito is more of a classic burrito with a couple eggs added, as opposed to an egg-focused breakfast burrito, depending what you're looking for. Some of the prices online, on the in-restaurant menus, and at the register vary, but it doesn't matter--the price you'll pay will be undoubtedly fair. Not many vegetarian options, just not the place for that.

Amazing food - very good value! Food: the food is amazing and everything tastes very authentic and home made! I ordered the chicken quesadilla, chicken and pork tacos, enchiladas, and al pastor burrito. The chicken quesadilla was SO good, probably my favorite thing I ordered becuase it has a good amount of meat and cheese! I also really enjoyed the tacos- very flavorful! The rice and beans are also so yummy! I didn't like the enchilada combo thoA I couldn't find the enchiladas and the sauce just got all over the place Price: wow, Is this place cheap! Everything I ordered was $7.50 and it was just so filling! You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck Service: ordered takeout and the service was very quick! Ambience: a take out spot only during covid. Very small shop with friendly workers

This is my local go to spot for when I'm craving tacos. The interior is unassuming and simple, somewhat cramped from how every table is crammed up against the wall. There's always a flurry of orders, whether it's for take out, delivery, or if you're lucky enough to have grabbed a seat from one of the few tables, dining in. The tacos are reasonably priced, generously heaped with chopped meat of your choice, and seasoned to perfection. What are you waiting for?

Loved this spot! You order over the counter and it's a little hole in the wall, but the tacos are super flavorful. The fillings of each taco are really diced and so it feels quite authentic. The amount of food I got (I ordered a taco combo) was a lot too, so very much worth the price! Will be coming back, might be a favorite local spot of mine.

Small hole in the wall that does good Mexican food that's not overpriced. Huaraches and quesadillas are great for price and portions. Sauces are on point, if you are lucky to visit on the weekend they have specials such as menudo, pozole, and barbacoa, they are worth every penny. This is what home Mexican food is. The only thing that could be better is more salt on some of their proteins. It's been a year that I've been coming to mi espiguita and the front of the house staff and cooks are always super friendly.

Got the Carnitas Huarache and was very pleased! There was SO MUCH meat in it and it was so tender! The homemade tortilla was incredible too. The staff was friendly and the menu is very affordable! CANT wait to go back and try more there! Meal is prepared in a timely manner as well.

Absolutely disgusting. Beef no flavour, no spice so much I wonder if it was on the verge of going bad..the meat was cooked stuck together and resembled worms Beans were from a can, it had pork lard which was just nasty There was this whitish stuff on the top not sure if it was cheese or what but not sourcream Topped with what appeared to be bottled carrots. Canned jalapeños, almost a whole can. Like they used the nacho as an excuse to clean out their fridge. Even the chips were old, probably from yesterday. I tried to eat it but just couldn't and worry that what little I did I hope I don't get food poisoning. Just disgusting

I ordered my favorite steak tacos. It was stuffed with a lot of carne. A nice classic Mexican spot.

I love this place. Only thing is they only have a few seats. The tacos are filled with protein that is seasoned just right and comes with all the right topping. The cemitas are huge with wonderful fillings. They also always have specials which is also always good. Last time it was chicken tortilla soup and it was quite tasty. They also have our favorite drink...grapefruit Jarritos. Just check to make sure they are open because once we came and they were closed for soccer game. Also street parking is mostly meter and kinda hard to find but totally worth it.

I came by for dinner last night and i usually only order tacos, tostadas and quesadillas. However, tonight i was in the mood for a chicken and mole; so i ordered the meal which comes with mexican rice, a small portion of shredded lettuce and 4 enchiladas. I am happy to tell you the wife loved the tacos al pastor, my daughter had a steak quesadilla which was huge, the tongue taco did not have a lot of taste. We wanted chicken tinga but they were out of it. The mile was a bit bitter, although it was seasoned well in my opinión it was too thick and could have benefited from being strained a bit more so it could have a smoother consistency. Clearly i can see all the spices that were added to the mole, it lacked a bit of a hint of sweetness either from peanut butter or sugar. Mole is such a sensitive sauce that if you overcook it, you can instantaneously damage the sauce. I will say this, i am staying away from mole at least the one they make here; since it lacks refinement. The best mole i had so far was at another restaurant in sunny side called "de mole" that place has excellent enchiladas verdes and mole. However their tacos are just ok.

Be mindful of the change they hand back to you. I ordered takeout tonight and my bill after-tax was $16.33. I handed the employee at the register a $20, and she crumpled up the receipt to throw away and gave me back $3.00. I questioned her about the change, and she repeated that the bill was $16.33 and looked at me like I was stupid. I questioned it again and she finally decided to open the register to give me the extra change, with no apology. I was very disappointed considering that I received great service from the employee who helped me the first time I came here.

I ordered all tacos, the mexican sausage and jerk style taco is no bueno. Overall i like the restaurant, the small table and high Spanish speaking gives a homey feeling. Suggestion for business owner: tell that lady at the front to be more explanatory with what the meals come with, she was very rude and impatient. STICK TO THE CHICKEN TACO*

For the price and the portion size this place is your staple neighborhood Mexican food joint! You're not looking for any fancy interior decoration But if you have an appetite and care about taste more than presentation, you'll be satisfied for sure! The staff were all friendly too!

Awful food -restaurant also need a cleanup with boxes and food scrapes piled everywhere. I ordered a tacos combo and because no one -except the waitress -was wearing masks left as soon as I could. The beef and chicken tacos had dried out by the time I returned home, and the beans and rice had to be thrown away. I will not be back.

I am obsessed with this place! They have the most delicious (and enormous!) burritos in all of Astoria. All of their food always tastes incredibly fresh and so well seasoned. Not to mention, their staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. I will keep coming back for more!

We ordered 4 tacos: steak, Al pastor, chicken and chorizo. To be honest, all 4 tacos were disappointing. The chicken was completely bland and had no flavor, and the rest of the meat all had a sour taste to it--and no it was not pre-limed, it has the sour taste of almost rancid meat which made me uncomfortable. The salsas that came were nice and spicy tho so it helped mask the sourness of the tacos.

Excellent an authentic Mexican food. Guacamole must be ordered! I go here once a week and love it!

i cannot rave enough about this place. usually i go to los portales when it comes to tacos in astoria, but i happened to stumble in here and was NOT disappointed. it was actually a worker's birthday the day that i discovered here and a mariachi band came to play live songs while we ate our tacos!!!! i know the experience is not common but nonetheless the tacos themselves are AMAZING and super authentic.

Holy moly, I walked by here last week and it looked like an honest to God hole-in-the-wall taqueria. Now, for those of you unfamiliar with what that is, it's basically like a dive bar but for tacos, burritos or tortas. No fusion, no high falutin 'infusions' or creme fraiche. Just thin tortillas, stuffed with well seasoned meats and some veggies. The bonus of this place is that it's good-probably the best Mexican I've had in New York. The guacamole is good and plentiful, coming in a big tub and big plate of fresh made chips coming in under 10 bucks-which is probably some of the best value guac wise compared to other places. One avocado mixed in with small pinch of cilantro in an impressive but shallow stone bowl doesn't make for good guac. The tortas also come packed and it's hard to hold onto it without it crumbling under its own weight. The chorizo was well done and you could taste the flavor as the big chunk of avocado mixed in with the other veggies. The milanesa was flattened out and crispy which was practically spilled out over the edges of the soft, tasty torta bread, The burrito which-can easily be split by two very hungry people-or 4 small children is under 7 bucks and with a Jarritos it's a feast for under 10 bucks. What an amazing find in Astoria! Very low-key restaurant (small with only a few tables), with good, fast service and fantastic Mexican food. We tried the $7 huarache al pastor (spicy pork with beans, lettuce, and cheese on a ginormous corn tortilla). This was so huge it actually was served on two plates to hold it all in! The $7 burrito was also the size of a human head and was fantastic - jam packed with meat, beans, rice, sour cream, lettuce and tomato. Tacos were $2.75 each and were topped with cilantro and served with lime. Try the guacamole and chips on the side - the guacamole was very unusual (more puréed than is typival) but tasty.

After such a great experience at Los Tacos at the Chelsea market, we decided to get tacos in Queens. Sadly, the experience was not as rewarding. Still delicious and probably better than any average taco stand but the visit at Chelsea market spoiled me. The pork lengua, beef and chicken tacos were all delicious. A bit of lime, cilantro and onions. I can imagine this being an amazing late night snack. The guac was smooth and blended. I would have preferred chunky and fresh. For the price of $5.50, it was a bit steep.

Support your local restaurants and this is our go to restaurant for Taco Mexican food cravings !!! Great authentic food, great prices ( who can beat 3 tacos with rice n beans for $7.50?) They always have customers ordering/ eating in or picking up so I know their food is fresh n not old

Stopped by this place for the intent of a "bite" on the way down to Philadelphia. We somehow managed to rack up quite a spread. While I prefer the trucks by the 7 in Jackson Heights, this is a comfortable place to eat and pretty authentic. The tacos here were my favorite, while they're on the pricier side.. you are sitting in an actual establishment and these tacos are big. Great place to stop if you're in the area and like me, looking for a "bite".

Al Pastor was pretty good, but chicken was a bit dry. Their Salsa Verde tasted like homemade and great. Inside the restaurant was super steamy and hot, so I couldn't eat there

The ingredients of the asada taco and burrito al pastor were fresh and generous. Good small business with hard-working people who'll go out of their way to get you what you needed. I had my order to go and they packed a little coffee cup of salsa for the road. I noticed a chef prepping fresh veggies in the back right before lunch hour. Always a good sign. I'll dine in and ask for a spicier salsa next time. Also, I'm finding a pattern with NYC Mexican food that the salsa tends to be pretty bland, and the structural integrity is lacking -- the burrito tends to fall apart toward then end.

I was able to feed my ravenous family of 5 because of Mi Espiguita. Their bistec tacos were rightly seasoned and their al pastor burritos are huge and delicious! The food was prepared quickly, and we really enjoyed the selection. They have good food and pocket friendly.

Worst service ever, canceled my order cause they didn't want me to refund something that usually doesn't have but is in the menu, too bad the owner isn't around so they can teach them because customer have money to pay the salaries never buy here again. Super rude these people

My third visit and they never disappoint! Even better were the lunch specials. Enjoyed Sangria and great Mexican beer. Very nice in the summer, when the door are open wide!

This has been my go-to spot for cheap, great eats in Astoria. For an $8 burrito packed with rice and protein, you're left with a full stomach and a happy heart. These people know what they're doing and have had my overwhelming stamp of approval for years

This place defines great cheap eats. It's a hole in the wall with a few tables and a small counter. Lots of items are great here. The burritos are the size of a baby. The super tortas are giant sandwiches stacked high with meats and cheeses. The tacos are also good. They come Mexican style: double corn tortillas, choice of meat, and topped with cilantro, onion, and a fresh squeeze of lime. There is a self serve cooler filled with all kinds of Mexican soda and juice. They have the typical Jarritos but also much harder to find drinks. I like to try a new one every time I go. The prices are very reasonable. It's easy to get a giant meal for under $10. They take card now which is nice. The staff is always friendly and helpful. If you don't know what to order just ask. The girl who works the register has helped me out many times. Overall a top notch place to go for cheap eats.

Torta and tacos were a tad above average but just ok. I'll maybe try something else the next time I go.

In an ever-expanding world where chain restaurants become more prevalent, the glitz and glam become more attractive, I'm surprised you can still find a place like Mi Espiguita -- your quintessential cheap-eats, hole-in-the-wall taco joint. Since I started coming into the area to work at the neighborhood clinic a year ago, I've had the distinct pleasure of trying local fare and meeting those who run these wonderful businesses. My co-worker and I each got the same thing: two tacos al pastor with rice and refried beans on the side, running us at a cool $7 each. Big portions, great flavor, spectacular deal. The pork was not as crispy on the outside as I've had elsewhere, but still tender with good flavor. The staff was friendly. They're located right off the N/W subway stop. What's not to love? I suppose if you'd rather spend your money on a Happy Meal across the street, then this place is not for you!!!

Nice hole-in-the-wall spot for some authentic Mexican food. It's so authentic that you can watch spanish television while eating. Only a few tables though, so I just decided to takeout since my apartment is around the corner. I'm a vegetarian, so I ordered the burrito with avocado. Burrito was huge (perhaps too huge) and filled with beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and the like. I really like the red and green sauces they offer you. The green is a bit spicier, but the red one has a kick to it too. All for around $7, which is worth the price to me. I'll probably come back here when I don't want to cook.

Best Mexican restaurant that I have ever tried. Unbelievable taste and very authentic. Come hungry because portions are generous. Service is phenomenal and friendly. They are always busy for a reason!
