"Do people in Miami work? We ask ourselves this when we walk into Mi Fondita, which is always packed at 2pm on any random weekday. But this casual spot is so much more comforting than your average nine-to-five. Servers kindly guide you through their extensive menu. Sauces come in cafecito cups and the staff smiles at you with the same genuinity of a golden retriever. For a quick and filling meal, get the arepa rellena mi fondita. It's generously stuffed with steak, chicken, chicharron, and comes with a hefty side of fries for only about $13. All of the empanadas are good, but definitely order the beef ones—their filling is like an unexpected good morning text from a loved one. " - mariana trabanino

"The Meal: Arepa Rellena Mi Fondita, $13 Do people in Miami work? We ask ourselves this when we walk into Hialeah's Mi Fondita Colombiana, which is always packed at 2pm on any random weekday. But their delicious arepa rellena mi fondita is such a deal that you could probably quit your job and just eat here every day (we are not advising you do this). It's generously stuffed with steak, chicken, chicharron, and comes with a hefty side of fries for only $13. The empanadas are also delicious and only $1.75." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

Google
Excellent & delicious fresh Colombian food. Had breakfast for $6.50, authentic cafe latte for $2.00. Great friendly service, small place, affordable prices especially in an economy that we’re living in right now. We’ll be back for sure.

Google
The food was really good and affordable. It's a small mom and pop restaurant, which are usually the best for good food.

Google
Bandeja’s La Fondita was very good food, price friendly and recommended

My family and myself arrived at the restaurant and we were sitted rather quickly. Once we were sitted the served took our drink orders and we ordered she left and did not return for quite a while. We recieved our food and it was disappointing, very bland no matter how much salt and lime we added. My husband also asked her for a refill and she had forogt about it for almsot 10 minutes even though we kept reminding her. She also forgot our chips. Once we were ready to pay, she was running around and took a while to help us pay and since we had an uber coming to pick us up we had to rush so we waited at the front. She was rude to my sister for not tipping her even though service was awful. Horrible experience and would never come again.

This is the best quality meat I've had in Miami Lakes, and consistent. Excellent service and always great and delicious food. Fantastic! Don't miss it!

Google
we came suoer late but they still sat us. the restaurant is so full of colombian twinkets, very nostalgic. the food was decent and tasty (try the sobrebarriga and aguapanela.) michael was very attentive and quick, however he needing to pay attention to his attitude, it was nice overal and good at price as well. ALSO, the music was FIRE. they told us to come for a super party every Friday night which im looking forward to it!

Google
Food tasted homemade. The service was just ok. Loved the Bandeja Paisa, and Bandeja Valluna. If you have time and are around the area I definitely recommend stoping by Mi Fondita. Small place enough to fit 35 people

Yelp
This is a small venue serving Colombian cuisine. As for me the Second time ordering food from them. We ordered the short rib soup with rice aka "sancocho con costilla de res con arroz", this soup is so delicious, savory and flavorful. They served if with yuca, potatoes, maíz and plenty short rib meat. The meat is tender feels like homemade Colombian soup... You MUST call in advance because it sells so quick!! I haven't tried anything else there but the soup is amazing ! :) Plenty of parking inside the plaza.

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant as I was craving a sobrebarriga. I ordered a sobrebarriga, a bandeja paisa, and a sancocho de costilla. The sobrebarriga was in a creole sauce which had a weird fishy taste, the meat was tough, the arroz con coco was mediocre. At all Colombian restaurants the bandeja paisa comes with beans, but apparently the restaurant forgot to put the beans. The sancocho didn't have much flavor and the ribs were tough, the meat didn't fall off the bones. The only item I enjoyed was the salsa picante (hot sauce). Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Roldan S.

Yelp
Let's start with the food, portions are the proper amount but the taste is insane. The most amazing Colombian food I've had in a long time. What can I say about the service , it was just incredible, they make you feel like home . All the waitresses there made me and my friends welcome. And ambiance you can't go wrong , it's not a big place but yet intimate for you and your companion. Nice touch with Spanish music and crazy smell that comes from all the crazy good plates!! All I can say is , you won't regret it, you and your family can come enjoy.

Fandino, V.

Yelp
NO vuelo a ir. NO vuelvo.

David B.

Yelp
Love this place. Great food, great service, great low prices. Highly recommend the empanadas, the spicy sauce they serve them with is fantastic!

Dariagny P.

Yelp
We asked for some extra things and they looked at us like we were weird and kept repeating that they would charge us for anything extra to which we said it was alright

Jasmine R.

Yelp
I wanted to try a new Colombian restaurant. It was ok though. I had a beef arepa, the meat was too dry. I tried empanadas, nothing special about it. I also had a steak platter with rice and maduros. My husband had chicken with yucca. It was nothing special, very dry. Small venue. The service was not bad. Prices were cheap. I will not be back. About a block away, there is a really good Colombian restaurant, Fonda Dulce jesus mio. You will thank me.

Mabel Fatima R.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Highly recommend. Decent prices too! Stumbled into this place by accident. Will not disappoint.

Emely M.

Yelp
Affordable homemade Colombian dishes! Everything I ordered came in. Decent time, cooked perfectly. All of the ladies were really sweet. They have a great dessert selection!

Lianna H.

Yelp
This is one of my fav Colombian restaurants in Miami , the service it's great and the food it's super yummy . I always ordered the bandeja paisa!

Francheshka O.

Yelp
Colombian food, all i can say is i had a sancocho which is a MUST! Also I tried grilled chicken breast and rice and frijoles, and a lulo juice (colombian fruit) everything so tasteful. Place is small but is clean, the have a few tables outside too, service is good, food is good, prices are good, so yeah just try it if you in the area. Next time will have the classic bandeja paisa.

Randy O.

Yelp
Great Colombian Food always fresh ! Every time I order on the phone or go in the service is amazing. This is one of my favorites places around miami lakes.

Angelica G.

Yelp
The food here was yammyy Hearty soup (caldo con costilla), their empanadas and ají mmh everything wAs very good. It's a tiny restaurant, located right as you exit 67th to take the palmetto South. We sat there to have lunch this afternoon (Wednesday). But I felt a bit uncomfortable as it is small. I think next time I order to go. And go home where I can eat comfortably. They are very busy for lunch, I saw a lot of people coming in during their lunch break so that tells me that their food is really good. Prices and service is good too. Oh and their menu, is hard to believe they can cook all of that in that small place. But heyy, apparently they make it work and it's worth it

Jeylisse B.

Yelp
Best Colombian Restaurant in Miami Delicious!!!!!!! Recommend!!!! I've been going every Sunday for the past 3 months

Linda A.

Yelp
Hmmm - just okay. I love Colombian food ! Anytime I'm in Miami my first and last meal is always Colombian. I love their beans, arepas, and empanadas. However, I was saddened to not really like my food. The only item that had flavor was the chicken. Everything else was bland. Especially the beans. Colombians are known for their red beans and these..... had no flavor. The location is superrrrrr tiny. But it made me feel like I was in Colombia. Very well decorated and the waitress was so kind and nice. I may just give this place another try next time.

Anto E.

Yelp
Just by calling to ask them my dreaded question, I could already tell that their food would be great. "Do you have vegetarian beans?" Yes they do. We showed up on our way to work hoping to eat quick. They were very accommodating and brought out our food quick. We had rice & beans and maduros , arepa de choclo, and a tilapia filet with French fries . Every thing was very tasty but it was low on salt which sometimes isn't a bad thing.

Maria M.

Yelp
Found it on our way home in a small commercial area. The restaurant is very small but very busy. We ordered empanadas de carne to go. The staff was super friendly and it smelled great inside the restaurant. Seems like they serve legit Colombia food by just looking at the kitchen. The empanadas were crispy and golden. I loved them. The parking lot area is pretty tight and small. Overall, will be my go to spot for Colombian food.

Mia V.

Yelp
Service is terrible, the manager is even worse. The drinks are expensive and not worth it, if I wanted to pay $22 for a margarita I would've went to a nice restaurant.

Jacques R.

Yelp
Simply wow!!! Came to this place by accident and boy what a pleasant surprise!!! Very small, nothing fancy and good value... for me, maybe the best ribs soup I've had in a loooong time... very well made, tasty, well seasoned, plenty... broth has consistency even being mostly water... I can express enough how good this soup is.... but please .... this is a "office lunch" place... grab a quick awesome bite and go back to work... service is quite good by nice ladies... the place is quite clean. Will most definitely come back for more... actually... want more NOW!!! Congrats Enjoy

nancy f.

Yelp
I love this restaurant ... looks like a hole in the wall, but it's the best little Columbian hole you ever tasted!! I try and order a new thing on the menu ever time I go and my usually plates as well. They have the best hot sauce and chimicurri sauce. You have to get their soup. It's awesome - taste homemade and from scratch... like momma's. The waitresses are super nice. My Spanish is bad but they never seemed to be bothered. They are always in a great mood and super friendly. You can see for yourself with the pics. Try the milkshakes and the empanada - it's delish and made just right! Get the picada- it's like a pupu platter! You can try a little of everything. It's awesome, check it out, you will thank me later

Ernesto V.

Yelp
Food and customer service is definitely 5 star and unlike other places if you and they are on the line you will receive a text letting you know that they will call you back.

Bill L.

Yelp
Not impressed. Unless the Colombians do it differently than everybody else. Cornbread with a cold slice of cheese on the top? No chunks of corn as was mentioned in another review. Food took forever. Not just for us but for others too.. Beer wasn't very cold. I'm not a fan of having a ramekin of picante on the table between customers. I don't know what the prior diners did with it. Not worth a second trip.

My-Oanh N.

Yelp
I'm absolutely in love with this hidden gem. The portions are good, prices are reasonable and it has a nice cultural flare. This Colombian restaurant is located in a corner of the shopping square next to the Burger King. With their neon sign, it's hard to miss. It has a very homey and intimate feel. The atmosphere is quiet with Spanish music videos constantly playing. The couple of times I have had dinner here, it has never been too crowded and the service has been great. The server speaks enough English to comfortably serve us nonspanish speakers which is always a plus when dining in Hialeah/Miami Lakes lol. My favorite thing to order is the fried whole fish which is perfection and also the chicharron. I am certainly glad I tried this place out!

Maurice M.

Yelp
Don't recommend terrible food.no taste,small porción,prices wrong from the menu.need allot improved.dont recommend.

Shannon D.

Yelp
A great lil whole in the wall. Food is mediocre.Got a dinner size that looked like. Lunch special size.so maybe thw chef overlooked it. Service is nice . will be coming back. But besides that. Its an overall good experience.

Liz B.

Yelp
The food here is phenomenal. The arepas are amazing! It's our go to place for good food, service and value.

Sabrina G.

Yelp
Let me tell you this place was amazing. We used to order every Monday and it was so delicious. But recently in the past 3 order they have really lost quality. The first time the chicken was so chewy, as if they had frozen it 3 times and then cooked it. The second time the red beans tasted like nothing - nothing. And just the food is not as good as it was. Nosotros pediamos de Mi Fondita todos los Lunes, era delicioso pero claramente algo cambio porque la comida ya no es rica. Ojala mejoren pronto porque perdieron un cliente muy fiel.

Juan M.

Yelp
Best Colombian food in Miami lakes. Hidden gem, grandmas cooking with friendly service and great prices for quality food.

Adrian R.

Yelp
Great food, fairly priced. I had the bandeja paisa... very tasty and a lot of food! I'd definitely come back here again.

Madelyn L.

Yelp
Great home made food. This small Colombian restaurant has great food. It really taste like is home made. I love it and I highly recommend it!

Jose B.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was courteous but slow. The place is really small and it has a constant flow of people so try to avoid the main eating hours. I am definitely coming back when i am in the mood for Colombian food

Patricia O.

Yelp
Food is tasteless. The waitresses and the owner are totally careless, they do not pay attention to the order and serve you whatever they think you might like. Tables are dirty, they take forever to clean after the previous costumer leaves and also in bringing utensils. DO NOT RECOMMEND this place...

Mari H.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Food delicious! Empanadas with their house spicy sauce is a must try! Arepas rellenas are so good! The girls are awesome, very helpful while placing my orders to pick up and always ready very quick! This is one of few places in Miami lakes with great food and great customer service! Definitely will be back for more every week!!

Isabella C.

Yelp
I was in the mood for sancocho and this place didn't disappoint. Service was great and the food portion was awesome for the price.

Tico D.

Yelp
Wow great taste amount and the service awesome. Must try the food. I had a grilled steak with white rice and red beans. Real good and the amount of the bill wow cheap.

Leady L.

Yelp
Not Fresh.. small restaurant and food comes out cold and flavorless. do not recommend to anyone there are plenty restaurants better around Miami Lakes... this place is not good.!

Julio M.

Yelp
We ate for the first time at this establishment, and had a great experience. It's a small mom and pop joint but featuring home cooking. The service was great and prices were very reasonable. I tried the Bandeja Paisa and was very pleased with the portion and quality of the food. The empanadas were also delicious and the homemade hot sauce (picante) was great!!! I definitely recommend it if you're willing to give a small joint a try.

Roger P.

Yelp
Well, I have come to this restaurant a little bit more than too many times in my opinion. Not a regular but it's near my job. The empanadas are just to say the least. The service is pretty good, as well as the food. I got a grilled chicken breast the other day and it was just delicious. It's a hidden jewel in the forest. It keeps me coming a little bit more than often.

Kat R.

Yelp
Excellent service and home made Colombian food.. Very clean restaurant I definitely recommend this Colombian restaurant....

Fabiola F.

Yelp
The place is very cozy and their service is beyond 5 stars. The girls are super super super extremely sweet and attentive. They serve BIG plates and the prices are very affordable. The reason that I give them 4 stars is because the taste of the food wasn't the best but yet it was good.

Frank M.

Yelp
Amazing food. Excellent service. Prices are great. The best place to eat if you're around Miami lakes.

Jose R.

Yelp
Bandeja Paisa Review: I found the boiled meat to be a bit nervy and tough. The beans are either flavorful or bland (hit or miss). The chicharron is quite good as well as the rice. The food is abundant and service is good. Price is fair...not the best but not the worst.

Santiago G.

Yelp
If you don't like to cook or you just don't feel like cooking, you should definitely try the cantina it's only $25 dollars and you get a different plate every day Monday trough Friday!! and You can pick it up before 8pm!! AUTHENTIC COLOMBIAN FOOD! GREAT SERVICE * ALWAYS CLEAN I TRULY RECOMMEND IT !

eduardo l.

Yelp
Good food, ok service, and i recommned you try the bandeja piasa with a colombiana. Place is a bit cozy

Jacques C.

Yelp
Excellent food! The "sopa de gallina" with the arroz blanco and picante!!!! Nice, clean, and very courteous!!!

Anny M.

Yelp
The food is delicious! Colombian flavor!. I eat here at least once a week. The people who work there is very nice and kind. And you don't have to wait too much to get serve. I highly recommend them!

Erin G.

Yelp
I came here with a friend and the food was delicious. He ate everything and licked the plate. If you're in the area, I totally recommend this place !

Arly M.

Yelp
Yummy little hole in the wall! We ordered for pickup and the ladies were so sweet taking our order and preparing it for us. I can't wait to try them again. My bandeja paisa was delicious. The chorizo is so well seasoned! You can't go wrong at this little location.

Shirley R.

Yelp
The food and the service are mediocre. The empanadas de carne were good. They do have ice cream bars that are filled with condensed milk that are delicious. I had the passion fruit which I totally loved. Will go back just for the passion fruit ice cream bar.
