Service was out standing our waiter was super attentive and quick with jokes. However the food was average. My daughter's ordered chicken nuggets, chicken plate, salsa verde plate. They said it was too spicy for them and lacked flavor. My wife and I both got the molcajete mixto, my food came out cold and with one shrimp and the meat was super dry. My wife's food was super spicy and couldn't finish it. Overall the food was not as expected, and definitely way over priced.

Mi Guadalajara is now featuring an outstanding Sunday Brunch Buffet! Since they’re my favorite Mexican restaurant in Esco, I was excited to check it out and everything was excellent. I was really impressed with the thoughtful balance of Mexican and American favorites, serving both breakfast and lunch type dishes. It’s quite the varied spread that would satisfy just about anyone. I particularly enjoyed their Mexican shrimp cocktail, house-made tortillas, omelets, pork adobada and a penne pasta dish with diced ham tossed in a flavorful Mexican-style cream sauce. There’s also a nice selection of sweets and desserts. Brunch is served every Sunday from 9am – 2pm and very reasonably priced for all you can eat. I believe there is also a special full-service brunch menu if you’re not interested in the buffet. Highly recommended.

Google
Food was ok. Fish tasted slightly off (not in a rancid way but rather freezer burned) and unfortunately despite asking for grilled fish, I received deep fried anyway. The tacos were stuck onto the paper so I'm not sure why it's served this way. The complimentary salsa is quite water-y and rice was over salted. The plating could've been done better as you can see in the photo with things dripped and falling out on the side. Service was standard as well. The server was polite but everything felt rehearsed rather than a genuine interaction...

Google
Overall good food, great taco and the chicken enchiladas were tasty but dry, needed more sauce, which was outstanding. Their extra hot red and green sauces were spicy and had much more flavor than the regular chip sauce. I got a combo and asked for all rice and no beans but I got rice and beans. 😢

Google
Sooo good! Pictured is one of their cocktail flights, and trust me, it is well worth the dollars! Food was perfect and the service was incredible!

We were a party of 6 and had dinner in November. This was my first time here and it was recommended by our friends. The inside of the restaurant was huge with authentic Mexican atmosphere. There were beautiful murals on the walls. The menu was extensive and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our food & drinks. Our server was attentive.

Yelp
In a town full of taco joints, Mi Guadalajara stands out as a delicious sit down, full service Mexican restaurant. My dear friend and I arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 1:15. There's plenty of parking, some shaded (which is a welcomed treat in this heat and strong sun!). Mi Guadalajara is large, airy, bright, and colorful. You could easily host a festive, private event there. From breakfast specials to weekday happy hour deals and Taco Tuesday specials, there's always something going on. My friend settled on Tony's quesadilla and I settled on flautas (choice of beef or chicken- I chose beef), both from the appetizer menu. They have an extensive margarita menu- small and large sizes. Something to note- chips and salsa are complimentary, including the first refill. After that, expect to pay. All in all, we had a nice time. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more! Solid 4 stars!

Yelp
Stopped by last night for a quick bite after church. First thing to note about this place is the parking! Parking is super ample and allows for lots of vehicles. You won't have trouble at all! As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted and sat almost immediately. It wasn't very busy for a Saturday night. The inside is super cute with artsy textured murals all around us. Our waiter, Maylyn, was super sweet and gave great service. I ordered the one entree combo dish, choosing the enchilada with rice and beans (all combos come with that). I had the option of red or green salsa and went with green, absolutely delightful. The tomatillo green sauce was to die for. The beans were just so palatable and delicious. My husband ordered the menudo, which came in a big bowl with toppings and a choice of flour or corn tortillas. We both really enjoyed our meals. As soon as we sat down, a sweet busser lady brought out complimentary chips and salsa. She was super attentive and replenished our salsa and chips twice. The chips were super fresh and the salsa was bomb. Overall, we loved our experience and will definitely be back.

Yelp
This restaurant has some nice decor reminds me of the restaurants you would find in Old Town. The staff is all very friendly and provides good service. The food I would say is a step up, but similar to what you would find at El Torito or other Mexican restaurant chains. They have tacos, enchiladas, burritos, combo plates, soups, etc. a nice variety to choose. They provide you with warm chips and very mild salsa as an appetizer while you wait for your meal. Our server was Melissa and she was super attentive and always had our drink cups filled. We ordered: - Large menudo, this had a good amount of meat, but I wish it had more hominy. The broth had good flavor, but was missing salt and some heat. It's served with tortillas, limes, onions, and cilantro. - Two combo plate, we choose a wet burrito with shredded beef and chicken enchilada. It's also served with refried beans and rice. The beans had good flavor and the rice was ok. The wet burrito was a good portion. - Cucumber lime agua Fresca was delicious and very refreshing, served with pieces of fresh cucumbers. This was the star of the meal.

Yelp
Breakfast burrito was super good. I also really enjoyed their homemade hot sauce. Tres leche pancake was delicious. I also like how they had a flight of agua frescas. Service is nice as always

Yelp
Warm and welcoming staff all around. Sat quickly and greeted by our server soon. Chips are warm and fresh. Get the guacamole. You need to request water. Carnitas tacos and enchiladas suizas were the hits. Great for all ages and a group. We liked it and will return.

Yelp
We were shopping and stopped by food was fast, hot and delicious. The staff were nice and not overly checking in. The decorations were fun to look at.

Yelp
Mi Guadalajara could almost be one of those restaurants you see in a classic movie, complete with its round rotunda, cultural murals and time period furniture. We tried the fish ceviche platter which was more of a family style portion. It came with cucumbers in addition to tortillas along with orange slices sprinkled with Tajin that partly soaked up the lime. Also had to try the combo steak and chicken fajitas which came with fluffy rice, beans and tortillas. The kids got carne asada tacos and a burger kids meal. But the stars of the show were their own versions of kids margaritas in strawberry and guava which made our kids happy. The restaurant is easy to find along one of the main roads in Downtown Escondido and there's ample parking all around. And there's a photo wall in the front for photo ops.

Yelp
We love this place, it's our favorite sit down Mexican restaurant in Escondido. All the servers are always nice & on top it & the food is so good. Cool looking restaurant inside, lots to look at, big murals on the walls & the architecture is cool. It gets busy so there is often a wait but never too long.
google avatar

Yelp
Their combo chicken/steak Molcajete is my all time favorite. I wish my photo did it better justice because it's truly so good and I've yet to find anywhere else locally that even comes close. I can't really speak to other menu items, but from what I've gathered from family and friends, everything else is just "good". The restaurant itself is very nice; centrally located in Escondido and very lively and authentic feeling. They have Mariachi on Friday nights so just a heads up that it can get a bit loud! Service is always efficient and I typically put my name in online before coming in to help with wait time. Will continue to return here for the Molcajete!

Yelp
I very much enjoyed the food here. The ambiance was very interesting, with lots of 3D artwork lining the vauled ceilings depicted in colorful nude women as an homage to the Mexican culture. The food was 10/10. We ordered so much food, and there was plenty left over. It is a bit on the pricey side, but the quality was quite good. My brother's burrito was incredibly stuffed, and about 4 inches in diameter, the ceviche was a pile of shrimp, and the flan was very well made. I really liked the way they cooked the shrimp - it was not rubbery or too soft. The quesadillas were stuffed with cheese and ever so slightly crispy on the outside, but not dry. The staff were on top of getting our orders out, as well as checking in on us regularly to make sure we were happy with our food and drink. I will be coming again!

Yelp
This spot is one of my all time favorite Mexican restaurants in San Diego! The vibes are always amazing and the service is friendly and quick. Their drinks are always incredible and the food is absolutely incredible. If you haven't already, make your way up here and thank me later.

Yelp
Continues to be a fan favorite for the family to visit when they come down! Luis at the bar is AMAZING! Really a wonderful asset to your business, and a reason for us to visit. Drinks and food continues to be point! Also holiday decor this year was very well done! They should be considered a holiday hotspot for locals! Keep doing what you're doing!

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. My family and I have been searching for a good authentic Mexican restaurant and this is it!! The ambiance is great as well, love all the color and decorations. I had the combination plate (enchilada with chile relleno) it was soooo good! Definitely recommend this place! I literally dreamed about the food the next day. Cant wait to go back

Niklas B.

Yelp
Came in yesterday and had the Asada and shrimp and it was delicious. Carlo served us and he was super chill and friendly would ask for him again, definitely try this place out.

Yelp
I love Mexican food and we were at a casino not too far from this place and decided to take the drive to check them out and I was not disappointed. We made it there for happy hour and it is so worth it. The drinks are big and STRONG (which I like), the chip and salsa were fresh, and they had a lot of good options for happy hours. I grabbed the nachos, and my sister grabbed some tacos and everything was excellent. Staff was super nice and really take the time to interact with their customers, can't wait to be back in that area so that I can return to this place.
google avatar

Mariarosario R.

Yelp
The food was not good, but not too bad. We went here during Cinco de Mayo and we were seated just behind the receptionist, in the bar area. We there for more than 30 mins, but no waiter approached us. We had to call the attention of the receptionist that no waiter had approached us. After more than an hour, finally we got our food. Not sure if I'll be back to this place again.

Yelp
My most recent visit was a solo meal on my way home from work. The carne asada plate was phenomenal! So juicy and full of flavor, so fresh. The service was warm, welcoming, and efficient. I love the aesthetic and music, with an open, airy feel. Prices are appropriate. There was plenty of parking. I attended a wedding reception that was held here with a gorgeous buffet spread and lovely service. The restaurant itself is pleasing to the eyes. I've loved all my experiences here and will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Cassandra S.

Yelp
We went back recently and it took forever to get service. The poor girl was working her tail off. Understaffed again? The beer that I ordered was flat. We didn't even bother with food and decided that the other local Mexican food restaurant is still our favorite.
google avatar

Felina V.

Yelp
Mi Guadalajara is one of our absolute favorite sit-down Mexican restaurants in Escondido! The food is always phenomenal, the margaritas are tasty, flowing, and plenty strong, and the vast artwork inside the building add so much to the ambiance. Service is always great as well! Highly recommend their happy hour and regular menu equally. If you haven't been here yet, be sure to add it to your list!
google avatar

Morgan S.

Yelp
I honestly have no idea how this place only has around three stars the food is absolutely immaculate. We had the enchilada combo plates and burrito loco plate with skinny margs, and they were packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and just melted in your mouth. The service was equally impressive. We had about five different people check on us throughout the meal, making sure we were enjoying everything and had everything we needed. It's rare to find a spot that combines such incredible food with such attentive and friendly service. We'll definitely be coming back regularly. We sat in a booth and it was really nice and comfortable as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Been coming here for over 20 years. We were exceptionally taken care of by Fabien for many of those years. We were bummed when he left and we weren't sure we even wanted to keep returning. However, we fell in to the hands of Luis & Ismael and they take wonderful care of us! Love them! Food is usually pretty good too. The bugaboo is that the happy hour menu has somewhat recently been completely scaled down to only a few items. Whose bright idea was this? This, along with the increased price of their margaritas is making us seriously reconsider coming here for happy hour. For the options and price point, we've been exploring other happy hours like Brigantine, Pizza Nova, and Ciao in Vista. None of which are Mexican food, but that's ok! Management, take note!

Yelp
This place has been a family favorite ever since Acapulco closed down years ago. Consistently great food and cocktails. Great for large groups too, it can get a little loud inside when it's busy but they have always been great to accommodate. Stopped in for lunch and had Steak Ranchero, the meat was super tender and everything had a great flavor. Their flour tortillas are so good! Chips and Salsa are complimentary and always fresh. They do have lunch specials available during the week, and a breakfast buffet on Sundays. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Alexa S.

Yelp
Yummy margaritas, good service and their fish tacos were tasty! Their fish tacos are pretty large, which I wasn't complaining about. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
The food was all delicious even my picky mom gave a thumbs up. It is also upscale so good to celebrate our fathers day early. AC great, Service superb, Drinks very good, food way above average and huge servings. Loved everything.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good, sit-down style Mexican restaurant in Escondido, this is the one. We frequently visit for their Carne Asada Guadalajara plates, which comes with a huge piece of carne asada, 1 enchilada, rice, beans, chips / salsa, tortillas. The salsa that comes with their chips is addictive. The staff is always so friendly. We usually order take out then sit around and enjoy the festive ambiance while they whip up our food. Some night we've seen mariachi playing. For a fresh, flavorful, "non taco shop" style meal, this is the place!

Yelp
Fun ambiance, esp their bar area.. good food and margaritas .. friendly staff and reasonable prices

Yelp
Excellent, good food, nice staff. Able to accommodate a group of 12 easily...all good

Yelp
Authentic mex vibes, LOVED the ambiance, I was really excited to dine at this place, the structure of the building is very cool. Drinks are refreshing and food reminds me of CA old town. I'll be visiting them soon!

Yelp
Just what Wayland needed an amazing Mexican restaurant service is impeccable and the freshness, quality, & portion of the food l‼wow‼ I had the chicken chimichanga (yes, I ordered mine extra crispy) - the chicken inside was moist & the best flavor & the beans are magnificent!! Individual salsa bowls are a nice touch and the woman's restroom was super clean & cute
google avatar

Yelp
Welcoming atmosphere and nice decorations as well. Went during lunch time so not crowded, but did get a bit busier after 3pm and well the food arrived quick. I enjoyed it, perfect timing as well. We left after seeing there was a homeless man in the middle, dirty eating and kept ordering. Had to get out quick.
google avatar

Yelp
Great Food! I love the Guacamole that comes in a fried flour tortilla bowl. Every entree we have eaten is great. I love their Spanish rice. The waitress and waiter have all been fast and correct.

Steve P.

Yelp
Full bar and Food is excellent service is perfect price is reasonable love the Mi Guadalajara.

Yelp
So, I can't actually speak to the quality of the food or service...BECAUSE...my wife and I showed up today about 11:15.l and they were closed. Everything we read said the restaurant opened at 11. There were several (6-7) cars parked behind the kitchen and the OPEN sign was lit. Walked up...and the door was locked. Tried a couple times to make sure it wasn't just stuck. Nothing. Knocked, nothing. Ended up leaving and eating at a competitor just around the corner which was open as advertised. I hate leaving bad reviews since I love to support local businesses but it's just bad form to advertise being open, have all appearances of being open, but not be ready to serve customers. We were disappointed to not get to try a new mexican joint (new for us).
google avatar

Paola S.

Yelp
Liked the ambiance. The food was not what I expected. Barely had any flavor. I ordered their Burrito Loco (ground beef) and there was nothing that really stood out. Their rice and beans didn't have much flavor either. My daughter didn't like her food either - her beans were cold. My husband did like his steak fajitas and his Mango margarita. Parking is Terrible.

Jorge V.

Yelp
Portions are horrible, possibly 5 shrimp for a 20 dollar plate with salad rice and beans.

Jen C.

Yelp
This is our favorite go-to local Mexican restaurant. The food is excellent, and the service is on point, too. They also offer a breakfast/brunch menu. Their chorizo is tasty and not greasy like some places can be. Friday nights can be loud with live Mariachi music if that bothers you. They can also be busy, but the staff is excellent about getting you on the list once everyone at your party arrives. I've had tons of items on the menu, and nothing disappoints. Also, the bartenders are great, and the drinks are good and strong. I've celebrated birthdays here multiple times.

Yelp
I've been here a number of times over the years and attended an event once that was catered by them, so feel comfortable reviewing. It's fine. I honestly do not love eating here. I eat here because others want to eat here. I just feel with a Mexican Restaurant on every corner in Escondido, you have better options. Visually, it looks fun and festive outside and inside. They have two floors as well as indoor and outdoor seating. It is VERY loud inside. I just don't love really loud restaurants because everyone has to yell to talk and with parents who can't hear, that is not a fun experience. The food is also fine. I actually LOVED the chicken tortilla soup a couple visits ago, but I did have a pretty bad stomach ache after that dinner.... no clue if it was due to the food or not, but it tasted great. My last visit I tried the fish taco and it was ok. I felt like the piece of fried fish was way too big for the taco. Okay, maybe a weird complaint, but it was not as tasty when the accoutrements provided were completely overshadowed by the fish. Its big though! For me, one taco of the two was enough, but if you like a big serving, this is a good choice. Nothing I've had on other visits have stuck with me. They have the usual things. My husband has enjoyed the taco salad and the fajitas in our last two visits. Chips and Salsa is pretty good. Overall, this is your average Mexican restaurant. Many people tend to love it, so give it a try and let me know what you think!
google avatar

Bonnie F.

Yelp
Delicious Americanized Mexican food. One of my favorites is the shrimp and crab enchiladas. They have great lunch specials not skimpy on the portions. Their chips are fresh and lightly salted with a nice salsa dip. On weekends they have strolling mariachi. When in Escondido there are Mexican places on every block, but not many compare to this colorful, tradional sit down restaurant.

Yelp
I walked in to place a take out order, no one in front or behind me. After Son being in the hospital for a month, this restaurant was his choice. I ordered a Combination plate with 2 items. I ordered a Carnitas Burrito WITH CARNITAS, BEANS AND CHEESE. ORDER TOTAL WAS $25 AND CHANGE. DRIVE 3 MILES BACK HOME, SIT DOWN TO HAVE LUNCH WITH Son. Son's Burrito ONLY had Carnitas. Emily was the young lady who took my Order. I was so furious, how incompetent are you not to get a simple, basic order correct?? I immediately called to speak to a manager. I spoke to Adriana and explained my experience. I told her in these days where people are holding on to their purse strings, IF a Customer chose to dine at your establishment...HIRE COMPETENT EMPLOYEES! There was no way I was going to drive back to this restaurant to interact with a incompetent worker like Emily. Emily wasn't busy with NOBODY ELSE BUT ME. Seriously, GET IT TOGETHER. Adriana offered to credit Burrito charge and give me another Burrito when in the area. I accepted the credit BUT rejected the free burrito. I will NOT be returning for a long time. Customers BEWARE WITH TAKE OUT ORDERS, ESPECIALLY IF EMILY TAKES YOUR ORDER. CHECK YOUR order BEFORE YOU LEAVE.

Linda H.

Yelp
The food here is outstanding! Shrimp enchiladas are the best! Great service, the atmosphere is colorful, and the service is right on!
google avatar

Phil H.

Yelp
First time here, food was very good, temperature could have been hotter when served although service was quick. Would have given another star but our group of 5 split checks into 2. Menu states gratuity is added when 6 or above but our checks has the automatic tip included. A little misleading?

Yelp
Sat in the bar to avoid the 15 minute wait for the dining room. Handed menus by the hostess and told it was open seating. We (hubs and I) were greeted right away by someone who was not our server and offered water. Our server arrived shortly after and took our food and drink order. We ordered a millionaire and a peach margarita, both were very good. For lunch, we both ordered the carne asada chimichanga. Our food was delivered within a reasonable time but without utensils to eat. After a few minutes (and just as I was about to get up) an employee walked by and we asked for napkins and silverware...and more chips/salsa. The food was served hot, the portions were generous and everything tasted good...not great, but good. Unfortunately, the guacamole was served on top of the chimi but under the sour cream so my husband, who is not a fan of guacamole (yes, I married him anyway!) also lost his sour cream when scraping the guacamole off of his chimi. There were also two, very thick half slices of tomato on top of the guacamole but under the sour cream. The ambiance was bar-ish with an average level of sound. The room we were in echoed so we were able to very clearly hear the conversation at the next table (either that or the man just had a very loud voice) Unfortunately, once our food was delivered to our table, we were completely ignored by our server. No water refills, no second margaritas, no sour cream for my husband...we had to wave someone down, again, to get a to-go box. Once the food was boxed up, then our server arrived with the bill. Didn't ask if everything was good, didn't apologize for ignoring us, nothing. What was most disappointing was that he had to continuously walk past us because we were sitting between the bar and the dining room. Food 6/10; Service 1/10...will not be going back.

Yelp
Food was pretty tasty, very traditional, could still use some more flavor. Chips and salsa were great too,

Carolina O.

Yelp
Amazing service!! Delicious food highly recommend the mi Guadalajara plate and enchiladas suizas!! Delicious drinks as well

Yelp
Is not the same anymore, food is just have no taste. So disappointed. They even have no mariachi on Friday no more.

Alejandro V.

Yelp
My sisters and I went to ask for a table for 3 at 9:40 they close at 10 but previously working in the food industry I know that last call is closing time. We did politely ask if it was too late for a table and hostess went back to check and while she was checking another hostess came back to ask if we wanted a table for 3 and we said "Yes, someone went to ask if it was too late" and she said "well we do close at 10" so we just decide to go somewhere else. We are loyal costumers that tip 20% or higher every time we eat this location. And we have been politely sat at around this time before.

Kirsten K.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Quality food and large portions! Ceviche was fresh and citrusy, the combo plate was large with an enchilada, taco with beans and rice. The seafood fajitas were perfectly seasoned and piping hot. The tortillas were soft and tasty. The wait staff was great! I would definitely recommend this to a friend and look forward to returning!

Yelp
This was my first visit. I've heard and read about this place but never had the chance. Glad that I went. Food was very good and had a good selection. Beer was basic, but I am happy! I didn't try the margaritas on this visit, but I will be back. Good size portions and I felt that the price was reasonable for the amount of food.
