"The family behind Mi Pueblo started out making tacos for guests in their apartment living room. As a fan, Limas agrees. Born and raised in metro Detroit, Limas never learned Spanish, though his father was originally from the Mexican state of Durango. Even if the language wasn’t passed down to him, Limas says it’s the food — especially from Mi Pueblo — that keeps him connected to his heritage. “It always reminded my of my grandmother’s kitchen,” he says." - Serena Maria Daniels

If you want quality authentic Mexican food, this is where all the Mexicans go to eat. First class and great tasting food like my Hita used to make.

We haven't been there since the pandemic and it was such a pleasant surprise!!! Everything is well organized, clean and pleasant. The menu has many choices but I went for the tacos al pastor. They were very good!!! My wife got lengua tacos and a buche taco. She was delighted with her choice!!! With so many choices, we're going back soon!!! Staff was so nice and polite. Great place!!!

Google
Food was amazing as always. Good portioning. There has to be something in the taco sauce, i love it so much. seriously, they need to sell it in a bottle. I’d buy.

This used to be one of my go to places for Mexican food. It is disappointing how downspiral the food has gone. Ordered the mushroom and chili toreado appetizers and the portion size was just abysmally small. Portion for the mushroom used to be so much bigger. The chili toreado, which I ordered for the first time was so disappointing. If you ever ordered from grand azteca then you know how flavorful, packed and tasty it is. Ordered the skirt steak main entree; ararrecha or something along that line was the name, and my goodness was the steak so small and DRY! $22 for that is pitiful. The guacamole had no flavor and it was more bland than I can ever describe. Finally, the dessert, we all know how good tres leches cake is right? Supposed to be moist and dripping with condensed milk… nope, not here. See the pictures for the disappointment of food.

I order here quite a bit, it's become one of my faves. The rice is really good, soft and fluffy how it's supposed to be. I also love how they have the jamaica premade in sealed bottles.

Google

Google
My favorite authentic Mexican restaurant! I had the super burrio which was very flavorful and filling. Food comes out fast and the restaurant is pretty clean

Google
A real taste of authentic Mexican food. The waitress took a little longer than normal to get to serving us at our table, but everything else was great. Food was better than expected and came out no longer than 10 min after ordering. Welcoming environment as well.

Yelp
Came here on Thursday for dinner. This is the express and the reataurant is across the street. Express meaning you order at the counter and they will bring your food to the table. We ordered Aguq Fresca coco (coconut water) and horchata. Surprised that the horchata came premade in a sealed bottle. The coconut water was delicious and refreshing. My fiance ordered the taco dinner with tripa (tripe), lengua (beef tongue), and buche (pigs stomach). Tripe taco was super crispy jist how we like it. Yhe taco dinner also came with rice and beans. I ordered the birria flatuas with a side of rice. It was delicious but the birria was super spicy for me. The waiters were friendly and attentive. If you're looking for something fast, come here but their menu is limited compared to the restaurant across the street. It is casual and there were four people dining in when we arrived. Perfect for us!

Yelp
At Mi Pueblo by 7:29pm. The line is crazy long outside, in between the doors and inside by the hostess table too. There's even people waiting and wrapped around the Dix road side of the building. Casual dining, quick and convenient too. There were lots of graduation dinner gatherings tonight. Lots of kids in tassels and caps too. We decided to eat at the Mi Pueblo express, across the street. The hostess was nowhere to be found and there was a line just waiting to get their names in for a table too. The express location is at least $6-8 more expensive here than at the restaurant, since we have to pay for chips and salsa at the express. We ordered and paid for two of the Volcan with chciken tinga, since that's the closest to a tostado, chips with hot salsa large guacamole, bottled waters, 3 grilled chicken dinner and a large beans on the side. Bummer part about having to resort to eating at the Express. The food bill was $34.95. Service is quick and easy at least. The food was good still, even at the express location, just everything is a bit more here. It's like being in an ice box in the express and I had a jacket on.

Yelp
Great service waitress was friendly and very accommodating. Prices are great. I had the enchilada, burrito, tostada a combo, and it was pretty good-not a huge fan of the enchilada I've had better . Chicken quesadillas, beef Burro, Bowl were also ordered and everyone thought they were very good.

Yelp
If you're looking for amazing Mexican carryout this place never disappoints. The chicken tianga super burrito is a huge delicious flavor bomb of authentic Mexican flavors and spices. The salsa is always so fresh and goes perfectly with the homemade chips. I've only done carryout and the order is always right, prepared quickly, and packaged with care. A great value for Mexican takeout.

Yelp
I absolutely recommend this place and usually order take out once or twice a week and my food comes out amazing and flavorful. best and my favorite mexican restaurant in sw!!! The workers here are super friendly and welcoming too. Amazing customer service and the restaurant its self is a nice atmosphere and always clean!!

Noelle N.

Yelp
We have been going to Mi Pueblo express for years and their food is consistently good.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Thanks for the enchiladas with no cheese ? Just soggy tortilla and chicken ? Barely any green sauce this is trash , I spent $49 on trash , I won't eat it

Brian Z.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful. A great ambiance for a date or just to hang out with a friend. I'm a big fan.

Ethan H.

Yelp
You need food late night? This is your place, fast service and kind people. Just park in the lot for the normal Mi Pueblo and run over and grab your food. Which is very generously priced. I'm honestly a little worried to put people on, lest they raise their prices. Give them a try!

Ash B.

Yelp
I never done the express but the restaurant never disappoints! I had a super burro this time. I usually get the chimichanga. This time my business partner got it. Food was sooo good I forgot to take pics. I'm sorry. Lol. I'll do another review next time. However it's the best out of all the restaurants in Mexican village

Amelia B.

Yelp
The full size version of the restaurant is across the street. But this mini version is just as good if not better, depending on what you want. Service was fast. Theres a order counter, so look at the digital boards and decide and step right up. Theres a fountain pop machine but also serving Micheladas if you want to sit at one of the small tables. The prices and menu selections mirror that from across the street. I thought it would be less expensive but no. I ordered 10 tacos for 12.74 including tax with their carryout deal. 4 Carnitas 3 Al Pastor 3 Suadero Came out fast, wrapped neatly. Meat was flavorful and juicy. Good amounts of Cilantro and Onion. Served on double tortillas. Grilled onions and Serrano peppers along with with some salsa came in the take out box. I like these tacos more than across the street. Ill go back for tacos for sure.... and maybe if im craving an order of chicharrones.

Nicole C.

Yelp
It's a mini version of Mi Pueblo! Not a lot of seating but just enough! Beautiful tables! Great, fast service! Amazing Mexican best in SW Detroit!

Arianna S.

Yelp
Food is absolutely delicious with little wait time ! Definitely cured my cravings for some delicious Mexican food.

Marc W.

Yelp
Orders were mixed up because there was no receipt on the bags. Called the restaurant and they hung up on me. Won't be ordering from there again

Bongwater J.

Yelp
I've been a Mi Pueblo regular for 10+ years, so when they opened another location I was hyped. Dare I say, the express location tacos are even more fire than the original??? Do yourself a favor and eat here. Now.

Felecia S.

Yelp
The food so good and so much and priced like you like I can't wait to go and sit down in there and drink tequila and eat till I bust. Easy location beautiful restaurant. Only one thing... don't charge for onions and cilantro because that's like a condiment like ketchup. I will be back to take on more carnitas which was from God Himself I swear!!!

Al P.

Yelp
OK a full eat inside visit she had Mi Pueblo style plate with your choice of 2 Meats choose the Jamon n Pollo with Rice and Beans. Shared a bowl of delicious Guacamole. Had 3 Tacos a Tinga, Chorizo n Cabeza absolutely outstanding them Beef Cheeks rule. Unique to their region of Mexico with Tacos come Potato small white one. Exciting be the very best ever Shredded Chicken Enchiladas OMG FABULOUS WOWED so much flavor stuffed with Pollo dipped in Verde Enchiladas Sauce and Smothered with melted Queso Cheese a must try. Happy for them as across the street on weekends a hour wait they hand out Express menus to keep da Gringos Happy.

Florence B.

Yelp
Someone recommended this place to us and am happy we checked it out. The restaurant across the street was packed so we decided to run across the street to the express. I had the Chicken Enchiladas with green sauce. A bit spicy but so good!!

Anjie W.

Yelp
Great service, great food, awesome addition! We enjoyed our lunch! Everyone left happy with full bellies. Will be back for sure.

Jason C.

Yelp
Amazing Mexican food. Very clean, large restaurant. Gated parking. Excellent fresh lemonade!

Benjamin T.

Yelp
Wow such a great authentic meal! I love the chiccarrones and their chimi's! I definitely recommend going here and we ordered probably 5 or 6 dinners and they were all ready in 20 or less! Such a wonderful spot and a gem within SW Detroit.

Jannette H.

Yelp
i asked for a cóctel de camarón and it's post to have octopus and i didn't have any and they i asked for octopus and they took out all the shrimp and only left me one four shrimps and gave me all chopped up pulpo(octopus) .

Eman A.

Yelp
Want Mexican food? This is the right place to come to, prices are beyond amazing! Food is great and just what I wanted as well as Service.

Alexis D.

Yelp
Wanted real Mexican food without having to drive all the way to southwest for it so I found this place down the street and was skeptical cause it's technically in river view but super close to Trenton so I was like no way this place is that good but I'll try It and this place slapped fr. I had chicken quesadillas and they were amazing. Will def come back here and I love it cause it's a little mom and pop place, so cute!!

Andrew D.

Yelp
Great food. The tortas are big and delicious. All the tacos are great, but their tacos al pastor are tremendous. I get the tacos al pastor whenever I'm in the area

Jerni R.

Yelp
absolutely amazing service, food, and atmosphere. staff was very friendly and patient. the three taco dinner was perfect for one and is delicious!

Ulises C.

Yelp
This is one of the best Mexican food you can get in southwest Detroit. The beans are good. The rice is good. The bread they use for the sandwich is always nice and slightly toasted so it gives it that crunch in every bite . The tacos are more than exceptional, and if you're lucky, a small baked potato comes with your tacos. An old tradition practiced in form the owners roots.

Rose H.

Yelp
Delicious Mexican food. Fast pickup compared to the sit down restaurant across the street, although they also have a sit down area.

Jason T.

Yelp
I wanna start off by saying, having that polite doorman is WONDERFUL! Number two, very efficient. They were quite busy when we arrived, they take your phone number and text you when it's your time to be seated. This is where the trouble began. I'm a table server. They were right at that spot where a groups of people had left, and tables needed to be cleaned. I got appetizer, chips and salsa, and my margarita before I got a cup of water. I don't know if the server was swamped, she didn't seem to be to me, she just seem to only move at one speed. I had time to walk outside to my car get two bottles of waters we purchased from a nearby store, and bring them into the store and sit down before I got water from my server. Maybe Black People are.. questionable in "Mexican Town." Whatever the case was, the service was HORRIBLE! We just boxed our goods, picked up some melted queso from TGI Friday's , authentic Mexican food has no melted queso cheese, and had a GREAT time at home! The food was DELICIOUS except for the appetizer dip.
