D.C.’s Most Beautiful Restaurant Bathrooms

"For a pop of color, you’ll want to visit the restrooms in Mexican mainstay Mi Vida’s original locale at the Wharf. Hot-pink doors direct patrons into a light and bright space punctuated with bright blue fixtures. A modern white trough-style sink is juxtaposed with a wavy, laser-cut wooden hallway for a trippy surprise at every turn. At the roomy restrooms in Mi Casa, Knead Hospitality + Design’s dark and sultry sibling in Dupont Circle, charcoal gray chevron tiles line walls and floors and the mood lighting makes you look so good you’ll want to stay for one more drink." - Abi Newhouse, Nicole Schaller, Eater Staff

This came highly recommended by the hotel concierge and it definitely did not disappoint. Walkable from the hotel on New Jersey Avenue and conveniently located near the Capital One Arena. I ordered the rotisserie chicken and it was a generously sized portion, practically half a chicken. It was flavorful and really tasty. The chips and guacamole were great too. The staff is friendly and helpful. I normally don't like franchise Mexican restaurants, but this one was very good. Definitely worth checking out.

Good late lunch at Mi Vida, conveniently located directly across from the Capital One Arena in DC. Chips and guac are really good. Crispy fish tacos were tasty, but I really liked the chicken tacos. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive. They have lots of tables, but like anyplace in DC, it’s usually best to set a reservation, especially over the weekend, and more so when there is an event at the arena. Oh, and if there is an event, don’t park on the street in front of the restaurant. We watched three cars get towed off.

Had a brunch here. The ambience is lovely, with great decorations that really set the mood. The service was wonderful—our server was friendly and attentive. As for the food, we tried the Sabores de Mexico, Sabores de Brochetas, empanadas, and Flor de Lola. The guacamole was excellent, but I wasn’t sure if the chips were house-made. The avocado toast was very flavorful, though the French toast was a bit too sweet for our taste. Our favorites were the skewer samplers and the empanadas. Overall, I highly recommend

Really enjoyed our visit here. The waitress was super friendly, and she gave us some good advice on which food to choose. We had taquitos, guacamole with chips and a churro as a finisher. The combination of all of them was great!

**Delightful Dining at Mi Vida in Washington, DC 🌮✨** Lunching at Mi Vida in Washington, DC was an absolute treat! Our meal began with a delightful selection of skewers and chicken wings, both seasoned and cooked to perfection. The skewers were bursting with flavor, while the chicken wings had a wonderfully crispy exterior and tender meat inside. Next on our menu were the carne asada tacos, which were simply divine. The juicy, marinated beef paired seamlessly with fresh toppings, wrapped in warm, soft tortillas. 🌯 We couldn’t resist trying the queso fundido, which turned out to be the ultimate cheesy indulgence. Rich and gooey, it was perfect for scooping onto fresh tortillas. The enchilada with mole was another standout, boasting a complex yet delightful flavor profile with its rich mole sauce. To add a touch of roasted goodness, we opted for the Brussels sprouts, which were delightfully crispy and flavorful. 🥦 While every bite was a testament to the culinary prowess of Mi Vida, the sole opportunity for improvement lies in the speed of service. Our dishes took a bit longer to arrive than anticipated, but the friendly staff and delicious food more than made up for the wait. 🍽️ In conclusion, Mi Vida offers a delightful escape into a world of authentic, delicious flavors in the heart of DC. I’m already dreaming of my next visit! 💃🏻

We came to Mi Vida around 3:20pm on July 3rd, just the two of us, looking forward to a chill happy hour. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but. The entire bar was completely taken over by one large, rowdy group. We were told by the manager that happy hour pricing was only available at the bar, but with just two bartenders struggling to keep up and the bar fully swamped, it was nearly impossible to get service. The manager did find us a standing high-top (which we didn’t mind), but then brought us empty water glasses… and never filled them. A nearby sign said to see the bartender for orders, which again felt ridiculous given the situation. To make matters worse, someone from the overly intoxicated group at the bar ended up on the floor. An ambulance was called, and the scene turned into a complete mess. It was uncomfortable and honestly unsafe. The group was clearly beyond overserved—people were loud, stumbling, and belligerent. All of this happening in a nearly empty restaurant where we couldn’t even be offered a regular table with happy hour pricing. It’s a really bad look for a place that charges top-tier prices for something as simple as a frozen margarita. Between the lack of hospitality, overwhelmed staff, and poor judgment in handling the crowd, we won’t be coming back.

Google
Big fans of Mexican food over here! During our visit, we were really craving some of this food and hoped this place would be it, but unfortunately it wasn’t 🥲 Being aware of how spicy Mexican food can get, some of the dishes were not enjoyable due to the level of spice. Food was mediocre. The waiters didn’t explain much regarding the dishes, just said “this tastes good” to some of the items, in fact some of our menu items came wrong and had to be sent back. Overall, the service wasn’t great. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the best first experience of the place, not sure if we would come back.

Great dinner. The Sabores de Brochettas appetizer was very tasty. I had the Birria and the meat was so tender and flavorful. My BF had the Enchiladas de Mole Negro and they were full of flavor. We will definitely go back!

Yelp
This was a perfect restaurant for a late Saturday lunch. They have a ton of both indoor and outdoor seating. To drink, I had a spicy margarita. It was perfectly crisp, not too sweet, and had a nice kick. My partner got the pinada. It was served in a large pineapple shaped glass with an umbrella. It was fruity and creamy. To start, we shared the "blue" guacamole. This unique preparation included blue cheese, grapes, and almonds. The blue cheese offered a rich flavor, complemented by the sweetness of the grapes. Though it might be too unconventional for some, I loved it! For my main, I had the huevos rancheros. This was flavorful with a subtlety spicy tomato sauce. Well balanced by all ingredients. My partner got the burrito tejano and was expecting a handheld burrito, but the dish was more like an enchilada as it was smothered in sauce. He still enjoyed it. Our server was friendly. Super satisfying meal.

Yelp
This is a beautiful venue. Love the decorations! It's a lively place! The service by Maria was wonderful. My friend and I really enjoyed our drinks: Ponche de Lola and La Frozen We also enjoyed the guacamole and chips! I had the pescado tacos which were interesting because the fish is fried. I really wonder what it would taste like if it were grilled. I added hot sauce to the fish. My friend had the enchiladas suizas which were chicken enchiladas. She said they had a nice kick to them, but nothing special. We had a lot of chips left over from the guacamole so we ordered salsa. It wasn't the kind of salsa either of us were expecting and the taste just wasn't what we enjoyed. We wanted the typical tomatoes red colored salsa. Maria took it back and took it off the bill and left us with the chips. Overall wasn't very impressed with entrees but drinks and guac for the win!

Yelp
Ive passed Mi Vida a lot and finally decided to come here for brunch. The decor inside was absolutely stunning but that seemed to be the best part of the restaurant for me. The prices are too expensive to justify the quality of food I'm getting. I started with the chips and salsa and while the salsa had a good kick to it, the chips were way too oversalted. I also ordered a salmon which was disappointing. I want a salmon that I can cut like butter but the outside was kinda raunchy/ a bit hard with a soft inside (that wasn't seasoned). It did pair well with the sweet potato mash. The mole was a bit too spicy for me but that's just a me preference. Overall, I didn't find any of the dishes I got to be worth it, especially since the salmon was around 28 dollars. Our server was nice but I'm not sure if I'm dying to return here.

Yelp
An expensive Mexican place right by the Washing Capitals' arena, Mi Vida feels like more money went into the decor and presentation than the food. The ladies did not care for the salsa, which was rather spicy. They also did not love their Enchiladas Suizes and Rancheras, I liked the carne tacos. Key item missing from the menu? Salad. The guacamole arrived rather late, and the server was supposed to take it off the bill, but did not. Overpriced food, so-so service.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised at this location. I went to another location and it was bad. We were welcomed warmly at the door to enter the establishment. Service was quick and warm Food overall was very good. No complaints from anyone in the group of 7. Everyone was happy with their drinks and food.
google avatar

Yelp
Happy Hour here is a solid choice, especially when combined with the discounts offered by InKind. While I cannot attest to the quality of the food, the drinks are exceptional in quality, execution, and vigor while balancing drinkability and the lack of overpowering alcohol taste. Great staff, beautiful ambiance, and relatively low turnaround time as well.

Yelp
We came here stayed for more than 3 hours . Ordered drinks , nachos , . For dinner we ordered fish taco , Enchiladas, quesadillas and Chamorro. Food was ok . Wouldn't come back again . Fish taco was good . Didn't like the black sauce Enchiladas.Had a bitter taste . Either it was burnt or god knows .The Chamorro was over fried and dry .

Yelp
Typically I have better luck with my food. I will say the customer service did make up for the less than standard on the meal, so they get a 5 for service due tbthe manager's effort. My pork shank was hard on the outside but usually is crisp enough and a tender piece of meat. The Brussels were chewy. The wings and drinks were good. Mango margarita is my go to. The ambiance and spacing are very nice. Stick to the traditional foods. The mole is good but it might be best to request to taste the sauce before ordering to ensure your palette approves.

Yelp
Mi Vida is one of my favorite happy hours! My review is specially for happy hour! Love sitting at the bar and chatting with a group of 2. Bartenders are always so lovely. Drinks: Love their De La Casa (margarita drink) and their Ponche de Lola, and finally their frozen mango drink on the happy hour menu. Yum! As far as apps, the quesadilla (not on happy hour menu) and their nachos (on happy hour) are my go-to. Don't love much else. I'm not a nachos girl but love theirs! I love the vibes, the drinks and the bartenders. Mi vida is a wonderful happy hour spot!!
google avatar

Jean M.

Yelp
I like to take my girl here for happy hour. She loves the margaritas and I'm not mad at the Ponche. We usually get the nachos and a quesadilla (tho the quesadilla is not on the happy hour menu). We like sitting at the bar and the bartenders are always real cool. Vibes of the place always on point. I'm sure we'll continue to come back for happy hour.

Yelp
This is my first time here and it was a pretty good happy hour. I got the house margarita and some guacamole. Everything was pretty good and I want to go back to try out the brunch.

Yelp
I've eaten here a couple times but more often we go for drinks because the bar area is fun and light. It's a great spot before a game or concert in the arena. Bar service is attentive and efficient, a good variety of drinks and apps.

Yelp
Beautiful, vibrant ambiance - I wish the food measured up to the aesthetics. There's plenty of seating and I can see why a lot of tables are empty. Food is very skimpy, spicy, and pricey! The service is a bit slow as we waited 25 min for entrees at the end of lunch around 2pm. The creamy Guacamole was the highlight of the meal and a great way to start off the meal! It's a small portion. While the chips weren't warm and a bit salty. The Cauliflower Enchiladas were very spicy! While I enjoyed the cauliflower, mushrooms, spinach, and black beans - the spiciness of the sauce was overpowering The raw onions sprinkled on top didn't elevate the flavor and the flavors didn't pair that well together. I'm glad I ordered a side of rice to absorb the spicy sauce! The rice was pretty bland. I wish the dish came with rice with less spicy and more balanced out flavors. The Ponche de Lola was a fruity and refreshing cocktail with mango, strawberry, and guava juice. I got both the alcoholic with mango-infused vodka and Mocktail (non-alcoholic). The alcoholic version had a bolder mango flavor and not as sweet. The crispy Churros (4 come in an order) were very thin, the sauces were disappointing. The chocolate sauce was very bitter and the Dulce Leche caramel sauce didn't have much flavor, the Raspberry sauce was the best. We spent $150 on a sub-standard meal. Given the slim vegetarian options (only other option are tacos and Beyond Meat dish), it's one and done.
google avatar

Yelp
So the churros were delicious! And I got them free through a coupon on InKind. The bar ambiance was nice, too. Where I thought Mi Vida could have done better was service. Even though I was paying with InKind and showed my balance there when ordering, the bartender insisted on having a separate credit card "on file." What happened was I got charged $17.32 then refunded $17.32, which is annoying. I don't like feeling like I need to keep track of refunds coming through. They could have just let me pay with InKind. Also could have been better: I ordered an espresso to go with the churros. That came immediately, with no sugar or sides. By the time the churros arrived, the espresso was cold. A few more questions from the bartender could have spared me the cold espresso. At the front, when I told the hostess that my friend and I wanted to order "coffee and churros," I was told that tables are only for people ordering meals. Fair enough, but the phrasing made me feel a little like a second-class guest. Maybe "I recommend getting a table in the bar for churros" or something like that would have been better.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by Mi Vida for happy hour a couple of weeks ago and had a good time. We sat at the bar (got to watch some Paris Olympics while we enjoyed our food and drinks), where the service was great. Mi Vida definitely isn't minimalist - the decor is wow. The hallway to the bathroom was such a vibe I almost couldn't find the door to the women's room. But we enjoyed our food and drinks. We shared the tacos dorados (crispy chicken tacos, pasilla de Oaxaca and tomatillo-serrano salsa, crema, and cotija), which were really good ($6 on the happy hour menu). We also shared their guacamole with crab and shrimp salpicon, habanero, and cilantro, which I enjoyed but had a practical issue with (I would chop the toppings - especially the bell peppers, onion, and shrimp into smaller pieces, because it's hard to eat guacamole with large slices of onion and bell pepper on it and who wants to need to use a utensil to get everything on a chip). I got a La Frozen (tequila, mango, ginger, passionfruit, agave, and lime), which I loved (but trying to drink a frozen margarita through a paper straw is impossible so I ended up drinking it like a smoothie). My husband got their house margarita ($6 at happy hour compared to $8 for the La Frozen). Both were really good. There are three Mi Vida locations in DC, but this Penn Quarter location is really convenient if you're touristing around the National Mall or the Smithsonian museums). The rest of the menu looks great with lots of harder to find Mexican dishes (salmon with manchamanteles mole, brisket enchiladas with mole negro, chile rubbed oranges, birria), so I'd happily return.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday for lunch without a reservation and they fit us right now! Immediately loved the overall aesthetic of the restaurant upon walking in. Our waiter was amazing, super knowledgeable and helpful when ordering! We ordered the chips & salsa, Mariscos Empanadas (THIS IS A MUST!), Pescado A La Talla, Carne Tacos, Enchiladas De Mole Negro (Mole sauce is kinda sweet) and Arroz & Frijoles. I'll definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
Wow!!! Amazing service by Christian H and fantastic food! We shared the guacamole that was fresh and delicious. I had the Enchiladas Suizas. The dish was melt in your mouth. Hubby had the Enchiladas Rancherous, it was a luscious layers veggi dish with cauliflower, mushrooms and kale. It was a big wow! Can't say enough awesome things about our waiter Christian H, he fully explained the taste behind what we ordered and was attentive. Great lunch experience!!!

Yelp
Delicious Mexican fare in a colorful, lively restaurant with fantastic service. I visited Mi Vida on a busy Friday evening with a decently sized group (6 people). We were seated nearly immediately in one of their giant booths in the heart of the restaurant, which was perfect for soaking in the place's bustling energy. We kicked off our meal with the Fiesta de Botanas, a family-style selection of their most popular appetizers. Everything on the platter was fantastic, but I especially loved the coctel de camarones -- the shrimp was delightfully plump and slightly sweet, and the dish was generally super light and refreshing. I also loved both salsas -- the habanero had a great kick without being overwhelmingly spicy -- but nothing compares to their fresh guac. Once we were all filled up on the appetizers, we moved on to the mains. The group absolutely loved the enchiladas -- four of the six folks ordered an enchilada platter, and they all had rave reviews. I decided to go against the grain and ordered the Pescado a la Veracruza, a seared cod fillet with a delightful roasted tomato sauce, olives, capers, and pickled jalapenos. The cod was flaky, and the various accompaniments made the dish light and refreshing, but still packed with flavor. The roasted tomatoes added a touch of smokiness, while the olives and capers provided a good hit of umami. The tomatoes and pickled jalapenos provided a hint of acid, along with the tiniest whisper of spice. All in all, I can't recommend Mi Vida enough! It's a vibrant, upbeat restaurant with great music, decor, and energy. The staff is super friendly, and the food is fantastic -- definitely give Mi Vida a try the next time you're looking for a taste of Mexico.

Yelp
SO SO GOOD! Food was yummy and service was excellent. We would totally go back and enjoy the food again! Place is beautiful inside and tables by the window make for a fun watch.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times for work lunches and have gotten a variety of things. I think the chips/guacamole and drinks are their best items. I think there best tacos are the fish tacos. The other ones are a little dry and the fish ones have the best flavor. I probably wouldn't go back if it wasn't for the work lunches.

Yelp
Happy hour last night (Wednesday) was top tier. I had a group of 5 and we sat at a table and were told happy hour was until 6pm only at the bar and you were not allowed to order at the bar and bring it back to the table even though the bar was packed to standing room only. 3 of us went to the bar and the other two stayed at the table. We ordered the Ponche de Lola pitcher and it was pretty good. I also ordered a glass of the Viña Temprana, Garnacha- smooth finish, softer on the tannins and medium bodied. Afterwards, we went back to the table and I ordered the carnitas, side of plantains, and crab empanadas. The food was perfectly seasoned, excellent textures and came out hot on hot plates. Everyone raved about their orders, most of us sampling different items from the menu. The service was prompt and respectful. We had a great time and talked about going back tomorrow. The ambiance had lower lighting, making it a solid vibe for a date spot or a hang out spot with friends. The energy could flow any way. The restrooms were a little weird in how the stalls were set up and too dim of lighting in there, but it was clean. Overall, I would highly recommend and could see this being a local favorite!
google avatar

Brenda P.

Yelp
Positive experience overall. Made reservations ahead of time which made seating seamlessly. Table was ready before we arrived. Staff was profesional, efficient, and friendly. Food was of great quality. Would recommend and return to try more menu items.

Yelp
While waiting for a friend, I stopped by Mi Vida for drinks and bar bites. The Ponche De Lola consisted of mango-infused vodka, sauza reposado, ginger, guava, mint, strawberry, and bubbles. It was so fruity, refreshing, and crushable that I had to get a second one. In addition to the drinks, I had Chips and Salsa and a Huevos Rellenos. They were a bit spicier than I had liked.

Yelp
Delicious! It's been a minute since I have eaten good Mexican food. But first the location and ambience were amazing. It nestled near the water so you can people watch and see the sunset on the pier. The staff was very helpful, alittle slow but good. We got enchiladas verde, tatanachos which are just loaded nachos, and a slow cooked steak served with tortillas (bistec). It was delicious and my husband try to eat all my leftovers lolll! Definitely stop by!

Yelp
I remember coming to this restaurant yearsssss ago for a birthday celebration and from what I can remember the food is a lot better now then it was before. I Came in during a weekday afternoon and it was very easy to get a last minute reservation for myself and coworkers (party of 7). The space is beautiful with large windows letting in lots of sunshine. The bar area is also really cool with decor hanging over the space. The service was just ok. Our server was very friendly however it took very long to find her whenever we needed something. I'm assuming maybe they were short staffed during the midday. Towards the end of the service a manager came over to help out. I ordered their mushroom tacos and they were seasoned well. I would suggest passing on the rice and beans because the rice was very over cooked and crunchy. Their tortilla chips and salsa though, bomb! Overall a solid meal. Nothing like a Mexican spot in california though. Let me know if you know of any good authentic mexican restaurants in the DMV area ! :)

Yelp
My first time in DC led me to Mi Vida, and it was a spectacular start. As a #DayOfTheDead celebration dinner, I had to ensure an amazing Mexican restaurant experience, and Mi Vida truly lives up to its name, which means 'my life.' The owner's passion shines through in every dish, the ambiance, and the attention to detail is nothing short of inspiring. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by one of the best hosts in the industry. He was not only kind but also shared some valuable tips about DC. The Enchiladas de Mole Negro were a dream come true. This dish, crafted with over 35 spices, is a unique, spicy masterpiece. If you've never tried it before and crave amazing, bold flavors, this is the dish for you. The attention to detail in every bite was superb. And let's not forget the margaritas - one of the best I've ever had. Mi Vida welcomed me to DC in the most perfect way. If you find yourself in the heart of DC, Mi Vida is definitely the restaurant to be at. #MyLife #DCDelights

Yelp
The Penn Quarter Mi Vida is stunning and the food is delicious. I went for lunch with colleagues and we shared the sabores de Mexico family style menu which had huevos rellenos (deviled eggs), guac, salad, tacos de carne, enchiladas, rice & beans, and ended with churros with three sauces. I also got the limonada, which was refreshing! The meal was perfectly portioned. I felt it was a pretty sweet deal at $29 per person and gave you a taste of everything without getting too sick of one dish.

Yelp
If you're looking to grab a bite close to to Capital One Arena, Mi Vida's is the place. We stopped in for a meal before a concert. The restaurant's decor is whimsical and fun. The service is quick and seamless. The food is different. They offer a wide range of cocktails/beer/wine. For a Mexican restaurant, I was kind of disappointed with the packaged chips and guacamole. The guac wasn't made fresh. The chicken dish was cooked thoroughly and the black refried beans were delish. I'd go back before a show or game at the arena for sure. I hope they make fresh tortilla chips in the future. A guacamole tableside station would move this rating up. Guacamole made fresh at the table is a win win.

Yelp
After a Wizards home game we stopped for a late bite. We were seated almost immediately. We asked for chips and salsa and ordered chicken suiza enchiladas. The waitress told us the salsa was a little spicy - she was right. All were fine.

Yelp
What a delicious addition to the area! We came for dinner a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed the entire experience. Very modern, cool vibe but a bit on the loud side. We start where one always does in these places: The Chips and salsa. You get basic chips, but what a great salsa! Smokey and spicy and actually flavorful. Not too mild, tomatoes-y, and boring like other places. For a drink I got the Pinada, It's a slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and yum! Not too strong, not frozen which I appreciated! Hubby got the house margarita, which is a classic, nothing special margarita but also not bad. For main course I got the Enchiladas rancheras which is delicious, a bit salty but still fantastic flavors. This isn't presented like a typical enchilada all rolled up so be prepared it will look different but the flavors are fantastic. Could have used more cauliflower and less kale but it was still well worth having. My husband got pollo tacos: perfectly cooked chicken, not dry or boring. adding esquites on top just takes it to another level. Totally devoured them. The esquites we got as a side to share were spicy, creamy bites of heaven -- a must order!! Dessert was Churros: HOT! Crispy, cinnamony, and addicting. The sauces are all great in their own ways but the milky, creamy, caramely one was my fave while my husband loved the tart kick of the raspberry. SO glad he picked this (and he never picks dessert). Next time you are in the area for a game or some other event, this place is definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Delicious Mexican. Large space right by the Capital One Arena. Big bar with nice TVs. Mi Vida is fire. I go to Baja frequently and I can say that the fish tacos are legit here. Good guacamole too. Mezcal margaritas on point. Alberto was a fantastic waiter too.

Yelp
This place was good, authentic Mexican food. Good tequila selection. The service was good the waitress was very attentive. The ambiance is good and lively it's on a busy street so you get to people watch. Good place to eat if your in DC

Yelp
This is such a solid option if you're looking for somewhere to eat around Capital One. I've been to this location and the one at the Wharf a handful of times and the quality and service is consistently good. I would recommend making a reservation, as it does seem pretty busy. I've never gone without one, but I imagine there would be quite a wait. The salsa and chips are amazing!! And, there's free chip refills. My personal favorite is the enchiladas rancheras. I'm not a vegetarian, but I really appreciate when restaurants are able to make delicious and hearty plant-based meals. They also do pitchers of drinks, which are dangerously good.

Yelp
Spent happy hour in DC at this Mexican spot in Chinatown! Their happy hour discounts for drinks & food are daily from 3-6pm. The vibe of the restaurant was welcoming and lively. We sat outside and were attended to quickly with great service! I love the orangey/pink aesthetic and vibe of this restaurant! It has an expensive feel for fair prices! Overall, I would definitely come back for their happy hour and explore some of the other fun menu options they have! Tatanachos: 8/10 I added chicken to this dish! I loved the different spices and sauces on this that made it flavorful. It was a bit dry and wish it was accompanied by queso or some sort of extra sauce Virgin Ponche De Lola: 10/10 Starting to get into mock-tails and this was the perfect start! Super refreshing & cute! Yelp
Someone recently posted on FB about liking the odd pairing of avocados and blue cheese. Most chimed in that it's the perfect pairing and other refused to even try it. Yesterday, I was reminded that I've had this pairing MULTIPLE times at Mi Vida. The guacamole with blue cheese crumbles, split grapes, cojito to cheese is always the first appetizer for my table and yesterday was no different. Our server was absolutely adorable, made quick recommendations and was ecstatic when we went with her suggestions for the menu. First order of business was a pitcher of the seasonal sangria. And it did not miss! I ordered the chicken suiza enchiladas and the steak was equally phenomenal. We had to be rolled out of the building because we devoured every appetizer, entree, and drip of sangria. The restaurant is a festive rendition of the old Rosa Mexicano space. The elevated ceilings, authentic fabrics, colored hardware between booths, Mexican decor, and metal-outlined patio seating with bright orange seating all were perfect upgrades to dress up the new installment of Mi Vida. I recommend and plan to go again and again!

Yelp
Very, very ok. The Navy Yard location is the better alternative in my view. Sat at the bar, and the bartender just didnt seem to care at all. This was a slower Sunday, so I get the *shrug* vibe, but we left after one drink for that reason. I personally think the size here is way too big for the amount of potential clientele. Especially when you have like 5 Jose Andres spots down the road. I would recommend Oyamel over this spot in a heartbeat.

Yelp
The ambience of this restaurant was really nice. The nachos were a little salty but the tacos and black beans were great. The service was fast was quick though which was great given I stopped by here on a busy week night.

Yelp
I needed to be in the city and decided to grab a quick bite at the bar on 6/15. Pros: Happy hour starts early 3:00 p.m. Interesting drink options Cons: Limited food options on the happy hour menu Happy hour ends at 6:00. Con because when you consider most people aren't leaving the office until 5. Not really conducive to the after work crowd. The bartender was slow to acknowledge me even though it was only myself and a gentleman at the bar. I'd usually have left, but I was meeting a friend in the area within the hour. I ordered from the full menu as I said, not a lot to choose from on the HH menu. Fresh made guacamole - 8/10. Could have used more lime and salt. Chips were great. Carne Asada Tacos w/ Black beans - 7/10. The tortillas were rubbery feeling but the steak was really good with the salsa that came with it. The black beans were basic AF! Lol. Definitely nothing to rave about. I make better at home. Mango frozen drink (I forgot the name) - 10/10. I'm not a huge drinker but it was tasty and strong AF. Would I visit again? Yes. Very cute aesthetic and vibe. Great for dinner or girls night out.

Yelp
I have now been twice and have had positive experiences both times. Food: 9/10. The first time i came with a group and we ordered a bunch of food. -blue cheese guac 10/10! Get this! -nachos 8/10 -fish tacos 9/10 Service: 10/10. I've had amazing service both times I've gone. Value: 6/10. The blue cheese guacamole is $17, and the portion size is not that big. The dish is extremely delicious though. Overall: 8/10. I'll be back.

Yelp
Popped in for an early dinner recently and was not disappointed. We ate a shredded duck dish covered in red pepper cream sauce that was one of the best things I've eaten all year. The mole was outstanding - smoky spicy, and savory and unlike what you get at most places. The cocktails were also stellar. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Loved the veggie enchilada and I am not a vegetarian! I would get this every time. Sauce is so rich and the enchilada is loaded. Wings are amazing! Crab enchilada are very good and I liked pairing them with the mango sauce that comes with the wings.

Yelp
First the Margarita- ordered the spicy marg pitcher. Wasn't the best - but it was drinkable. I had to ask for extra Tajín. Next time I won't do pitcher until I discover the best marg. We started with the Guacamole, Queso Fundido and had to try the Huevos Rellenos (deviled eggs). I would give it all 4 stars. We ordered tacos - carnitas and fish. Fish was okay, I won't order again but it was crispy and the slaw was fresh. Carnitas was good and tasty! Dessert we ordered the espresso flan and tres leches. It was a good custard and coffee flavored it was even better when you had a bite of both together. The tres leches is a large dessert and the milks are good but it is a citrus dominant. I would definitely go again!

Yelp
I came by for happy hour yesterday as I haven't been to this location since it was Rosa Mexicana. The bar was fairly busy for happy hour and the service was good. I was craving a Margarita with Chips and Salsa and enjoyed both. Unfortunately, you have to order Chips and Salsa here. Most places have them for free and bring them right away. Not this place. The drinks were pretty solid and the happy hour deals are decent. Two tacos for $9 isn't bad. You can't mix and match Tacos so I had two of the Pescado, which were good. There are other food options for happy hour as well. I'd definitely return for happy hour, or Mexican in general.

Yelp
The service describes the unique dishes and delights along with the beautifully decorated space. This is the aesthetic of upscale and modern restaurants in Mexico City and Mexican resort locations. Bravo and gracias! Would recommend.

Yelp
Food at Mi Vida was simple in presentation but yet with sophisticated spices in ingredients. The cod tacos are a must try as it has a mysterious spicy taste in its sauce, creating an interesting yet mouth watering effect. Service: our waitress is super professional in describing the dishes and even sauces. When asked about mole's taste in beef brisket, she brought us a sample to taste before we order. Ambiance: Cute interior design provides a relaxing dining environment.

Yelp
Ok, I've been to the wharf one so many time and enjoy the food... but this place is magical! The atmosphere feels like something out of a movie! The walk to the bathroom will have you questioning your sobriety (even if you haven't had a drink haha), it's so trippy! There's so many seating options. I love the big window seats. The bar is so cool too. And of course the food is delicious. I'm a huge fan of the queso fundido! My only complaint is my steak was over cooked (asked for medium, was more medium well, but I was too hungry to send it back lol), but other than that, a perfect visit. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I went here with a friend last night and had such a great experience. The waiter was so kind and attentive. The food was delicious and came out in perfect timing. Honestly, it was last minute and it was so nice to be able to just walk in without reservations and actually be seated! It's also right across from Capitol one arena so a great place to go for dinner before certain events though to be clear this is not a bar atmosphere. It's nice! The decor was beautiful and well thought out. I'll definitely back!

Yelp
Always liked Mi Vida at the Wharf so really happy to see the large brand new location in Penn Quarter (opened less than a month ago!). Just in time to come here for lunch with a friend visiting from out of town. Good corner location right across from the Metro Red Line Gallery Place station, two sides glass front with lots of natural light and artsy attractive interior decor. Spacious outdoor seating on F Street side with umbrellas on the relatively wide sidewalk (it's north facing so shaded during lunch hour which is a good thing for the summer months). We both had fish tacos and sweet potato fries. Food was delicious - nice and soft corn tortillas and crispy fried fish (although one of my tacos was missing some toppings) - and service was attentive. The dining room could get a bit noisy as the surroundings are not very sound absorbent - choose a table along the edges or in one of the booths for a bit quieter dining experience.

Yelp
I was seriously impressed by the quality of the food here after a local DC resident recommended it. It doesn't give off "chain" vibes at all - the atmosphere is welcoming and food and drinks are great. We arrived before our reservation to take advantage of happy hour at the bar (HH on a SATURDAY- what a deal!). We all got a few drinks- including a $39 pitcher between 6 of us. We also ordered the Fiesta de Botanas, but given the lack of space at the bar we asked if we could get seated early. There was some confusion with management because we brought our happy hour drinks from the bar to the table and they did not seem to like that- we got a "talking to" from 3 separate people. We didn't think we did anything wrong and we ordered additional drinks from the table at regular price. One of the managers did apologize later for the miscommunication. Overall everyone really enjoyed their dishes. My quesabirria was so yummy and tender - but it was missing the consome which would've really made it *chef's kiss*. My husband loved his carnitas tacos, and we all really liked the guacomole we ordered a 2nd order. The grand finale was a complimentary churros dessert for the birthday boy we came to celebrate. They were home made and delicious! The dulce de leche sauce was the perfect pairing.
