Full disclaimer: Chef Toan is a friend — but this review comes from the heart (and stomach)! I haven’t tried the official Mi Xao menu yet, but I’ve had the rare treat of enjoying Chef Toan’s off-menu creations, and every single dish has been outstanding. From a Vietnamese-style steamed fish (yes, the one we caught ourselves!) to seafood pasta, sashimi with his signature dipping sauce, perfectly cooked beef steak — and even Southern-style shrimp & grits — he nailed every flavor. If the dishes on the menu are even half as good as what we’ve had, then trust me: you’re in very good hands.

Google
They are so nice! We ordered for pick up and it was ready within 15 minutes. It was packaged nicely and was still hot when we got it home. Have eaten a lot of Vietnamese food in different states and this by far is in my top 3!

Alex BK

Google
was very excited to visit the vendor after looking up the ratings online. Made an effort to make it there once in Mt. P (we are from Murrells Inlet - fyi;) only to find that the restaurant is closed on Sundays. Disappointed as the google continues to advertise its services and claims it is open on Sundays till 10 pm. This review is meant to highlight the issue; otherwise - no hard feelings: we’ll keep trying because now we know where you are! 🤣👋🏻

Google
If you're looking for a no frills but a friendly place, this is it. The pho was outstanding. Exactly what you would want in the broth. Sturdy noodles. The beef was tender. Fried rice and stir fry was great. Dumplings were very good. The spicy fish pho with shrimp was amazing. It was worth the stop

Google
Best pho in town! Though I may be biased because it is the closest pho in town for me. There is always a good amount of meat and noodles in the soup and the broth is delicious! I love their jasmine tea, the first time I went there the man working the register suggested half sweet and half unsweet and I have done that ever since. Compared to most places these days the food gets out extremely quickly, I have only ever seen people have to wait a little while for take out ordered at the restaurant.

Google
The food is delicious! The soups come with the right amount of noodles and meat and the salad is one of the best I’ve ever had! The service is very good and quick and the people working here are very nice. I highly recommend!

Google
One of the best Vietnamese places we have ever been too. Food is amazing and great service. We will not miss this place when we're back in town

Karina Collins

Google
This place was amazing. We have eaten pho all over the US and the chicken pho was delicious. Papaya salad was great too and the shrimp were so fresh. Very nice owners. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
Wow!! Ordered takeout for the first time from Mi Xao this evening and loved it! I ordered the spring rolls that come with this delicious peanut butter sauce to dip, the beef salad, London Broil pho and the lemon grass chicken. All of the food was amazing but the pho takes the cake. I will definitely be coming back :) Also, it was really nice to be greeted when I walked in the door to pick up my order!!

Yelp
You'll get huge portions and happy service at Mi Xao. They have some tables for dining in, but I think most people are grabbing it to go. Simplified choices mean you won't spend hours thumbing through a huge menu, but all the Vietnamese mainstays are available, with or without meat. The veggie stir fry was enormous and will likely feed two if desired. With chicken it's even more huge. My wife loved the Chicken Pad Thai, and that also would challenge all but the giant appetites to finish in one sitting. Next time it will be Lemongrass Chicken, as that looks tasty as well. Service was quick, and my order was ready even before I arrived. They typically say five minutes which feels pretty fast to me. Due to my sketchy cell connection, they missed hearing part of my order, but it really was only five more minutes wait once I got there. Parking gets tight on a weekend night, but otherwise plenty of space to hop in/out for a quick pickup. Lunch is an even better deal, and note they're closed a couple hours between lunch/dinner. I'll return.

Yelp
First time coming to Mi Xao and it was amazing! I got the coconut curry stir fry and my wife got the chicken stir fry. Both were delicious! We will definitely be coming here more often. I highly recommend Mi Xao!!

Bailey G.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere and the food! It is very small but cozy and authentic, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I got the spring rolls, the steamed dumplings, and the London broil. They were seriously some of the best spring roles i've ever had!! It was pay when you order so you get for leave right when you are done. Will definitely be coming back here!

Yelp
This is not my kind of place. I don't think I like anything on the menu. That said, my wife and daughter love this place. I did not think it fair for me to give a one star review just because I don't like it. When the family gets food from there I get pizza next door. They might give it five stars so the rating is an average. If you like Vietnamese food worth a try.

Yelp
Excellent customer service Food is expertly cooked to perfection and specification (no cilantro please!) Prices are such a bargain.

Sophia V.

Yelp
I love this restaurant, everyone is also so friendly there and the food is truly amazing, definitely give this restaurant a try, you won't regret it

Lindsay W.

Yelp
This is a true hidden gem in mount pleasant! Their chicken pho got me through the winter and spring sickness. Everybody I've told about this place loves it! Also love that it's family owned and so easy to grab take out from
google avatar

Yelp
Super fast service, tasty pho- much more authentic than some other Vietnamese spots in the neighborhood. There's also a great and affordable massage place next door will be back again

Yelp
We wanted to get something nearby close and won't break the bank and still highly rated. Came across this Vietnamese place and called in for an order, I ordered the London Broil pho noodle soup. I liked how they separated the broth soup away from the rice noodle and bean sprouts. The soup itself is delish and not too salty at all. My only complaint is that the beef is too well done and they should not let it sit in the noodle soup as it dries up the texture of the beef. My son got the lemongrass chicken which consist of marinated chicken over a bed of rice, along with a hearty salad on the side. He enjoyed the chicken and the rice was not over cooked at all. My wife got the summer shrimp roll which comes in 2 units. All these for about $38 so definitely economical. Given it's a Vietnamese food joint here in Charleston, I would recommend for sure.

Yelp
Amazing Vietnamese food and very polite staff. We had the spring rolls, dumplings, sweet and sour chicken rice noodle stir fry, and the pork salad (bun). The dumplings were super tasty and definitely home made. The spring rolls were tasty and the sweet and sour dish was a knock out! My wife loved the pork salad and would only let me have a small taste . All of the food was fresh and well seasoned. Great meal!

Yelp
Great food and service with a smile! We have been going there since they open and regular customer. The owner is wonderful and the food selection is amazing!

Yelp
We've been going here since 6 years ago when we were in the dunes west area, and love it! Sometimes the food isn't as consistent in taste but still is great! My favorite to get there is the pad Thai and the cold vermicelli noodle salad w/ pork! I really like that you're able to adjust your level of spice with any dish if you prefer hotter foods! The restaurant is family owned and the owner is super nice and welcoming everytime! He knows us by name and knows our order by heart! I love places like this where they make you feel like you're family! The brick and mortar itself is smaller and more intimate like the restaurants in Vietnam! Owners are also Vietnamese as well! They also have a kids menu which is a super bonus since alot of Vietnamese food doesn't have a separate menu for kids! Definitely check this hole in the wall out!

James J.

Yelp
Convent carry-out restaurant. Hospitable staff, unfortunately, Pad Thai and fried rice were only mediocre. Congenial chef.

Jim B.

Yelp
I can see why this place is so slow. Uncomfortably hot eating lunch inside as I assume ownership is trying to save a/c costs. Food was okay. I feel like I wasted $22 on pad Thai and a drink.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
The Spring rolls are the best! Great service always ready when picking up orders! Do eat in always take out!

Yelp
I don't know if this is under new management or new people in the kitchen, but our meal was the worst I've ever had there. We had a fried rice and a chicken with rice dish. The chicken was dry and rubbery. The rice tasted old like it had been cooked earlier in the day and it was all pretty tasteless. We got there just before they closed to pick up our to go order. I didn't feel like calling them or going back. We ate a little bit and threw the rest away.

Yelp
This unassuming cafe tucked away in a small shopping center on the corner of Highways 17 and 41 has a strong cult following, but appears to be overlooked nonetheless. While a solid (but unspectacular) Italian restaurant two doors down draws more attention and business, some bigger and bolder flavors are being cooked up at Mi Xao. I wouldn't describe this as straight Vietnamese cuisine, but more Vietnamese-Thai fusion--and the results are delicious. I've been there a few times now, trying the house special stir fry with the house special, yellow coconut curry and the red coconut curry sauces. All are delicious--but of the three, my favorite is the red sauce. It is complex and rich with just the right amount of heat. The veggies are fresh and portions generous. The owners are super warm and friendly, greeting me the second time I ate there like an old acquaintance. Definitely recommended. (4.25 stars).

Yelp
Love this little Vietnamese gem! The service is counter style ordering with pleasant table delivery. Small dining areas in and out on patio. Lots of takeout being picked up. My favorites in order- pork salad, lemongrass chicken, pho, and fresh rolls. I ask for extra herbs and siracha to flavor at table. Wish they had more interesting Asian drink options. Usually just get a tap water on ice.

Todd M.

Yelp
I just picked up an order to go. I ordered a pork noodle salad and 2 orders of spring rolls. I received the salad but NO dressing and I only received 1 order of spring rolls with NO sauce. Unacceptable.

George G.

Yelp
Great service and great food! We were impressed! Authentic domestic sum in a cozy space!
google avatar

Alison W.

Yelp
This is the best pho I've ever had! Some of my other favorites are the pork noodle salad, dumplings and spring rolls! Thanks to Toan and his team!

Janice G.

Yelp
Delicious fresh food!! Great staff, owners are awesome! The chicken fried rice is the best I've had and green papaya salad with beef is eyes roll to the back of your head yumm!

Susan F.

Yelp
Always consistently good food. The service is fast and friendly! I really enjoy the PHO and the pork fried rice. It's got a wonderful flavor that just can't be beat!
google avatar

Tessa R.

Yelp
coming back !!! Got the dumplings, pork salad and chicken curry stir fry. All were delicious!!! The lady answering the phone and running the cash register was super friendly and patient, something that I haven't seen much of lately. Thanks Mi Xao for a wonderful dinner!!!

Raoul D.

Yelp
Don't remember eating here. Go to Vietnam. Probably cheaper than expanding your culinary tastes in USA. This country is on the same level anyway. Third world

Ed A.

Yelp
This place is a little hidden gem. Fantastic food, service and prices. We came from an area that had many options for Vietnamese food and this place holds its own!
google avatar

Ara A.

Yelp
Small place definitely more of a takeout spot, the standard pho was ok nothing to get too excited for since I've had better. Hubby had the chicken pho ( rookie mistake) tasted like chicken soup super bland and sad hey it's chicken pho with chicken broth.
google avatar

Terri K.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic Vietnamese. Our fave is the Pork Salad with noodles, for take out.

Scott H.

Yelp
Some of the best thai/ vietnamese food in Low Country. This restaurant is is primarily a take out service. They do have a few tables in side and on the side walk out front. Green thai curry, beef salad, and the stir fried beef tips are excellent.

David T.

Yelp
Mi Xao is one of our favorite lunch and takeout spots. They have a wide range of stir fry and noodle options, as well as pho. Their dumplings are really, really good! I like the Green Papaya salad and CoCo's salad (a chicken salad) also. They have lots of vegetarian options also and will customize dishes if you ask. Give them a try!
google avatar

Alvaro H.

Yelp
Very good food I suggest as they have good service and the employees are kind . Very nice ambience and lovely environment.I especially recommend beef tips and the jasmine tea.
google avatar

Anthony S.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I have been looking for a good, authentic Pho place ever since moving here and this one popped up when we googled so we gave it a whirl. Definitely was not disappointed. Very friendly staff, food came out at a timely manner despite them being short staffed with infinite to-go orders rolling in, food portion was generous for the price you pay, and nothing short of delicious. Wish I lived closer to here or I would come here once a week.
google avatar

Jacquelyn M.

Yelp
All the food tasted really fresh and delicious! The service was really good anytime we had questions or needed anything they were quick. The food came out fast!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Food is extremely fast and so delicious. I always get their stir fry with special sauce and it is amazing!! Highly recommend for take out on your next night in.
google avatar

Larry F.

Yelp
Great local place, friendly staff and the food is consistently great. I have been eat here for years, never had an issue. The pho is great
google avatar

Edwin L.

Yelp
Best kept secret in Mount Pleasant. The Thursday Ban-Mi is my favorite and if you get to know the owners/chef he might even serve up some stuff that is not on the menu. Wish there were more of these in MP.
google avatar

Tracy N.

Yelp
Mi Xao is my favorite Vietnamese spot in Charleston. It's tucked away in the shopping center at 41 & 17 and is mostly takeout, with just a handful of tables for dining in. I always get the custom stir fry with rice noodles and lemongrass chicken and it's not just yummy, it's enough for several meals.! The crispy spring rolls are on point too.
google avatar

Virginia S.

Yelp
Everything is good here. My favorite is the London broil pho and the crispy spring rolls. The nuoc cham sauce is out of this world. That sauce should be a salad dressing. The food is always hot, fast, and fresh, and you get a lot!!! Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Rick K.

Yelp
Grabbed two different soups to go and was really pleased!! Tom Yung Kung soup - well priced, great portion size, really nice amount of shrimp (cooked perfectly), tons of rice vermicelli, sprouts, cilantro and jalapeños and hoisin on the side. Really nicely spiced. Shredded Chicken - also well priced and great portion. Chicken was plentiful and fresh. This one could have been spicier (we'll request next time!!) and the rice noodles were a little overdone. Great find and will be back to try more!!!

J J.

Yelp
Listen - you can't serve a chicken noodle soup and call it a pho. Giving it 2 starts because the rolls were decent.
google avatar

Grace E.

Yelp
Just so good. I had to update my review. For a small business, It is always under 15-20 minutes for pick up and they are so efficient. I've had pretty much every noodle dish but I think my top two fav dishes are the lemon grass chicken and the London broil Pho. My other half says their pad Thai is comparable to Basils. Their summer rolls are also fresh and delish and coke with a yummy peanut sauce.

Randy P.

Yelp
Very good food and quick service. I am a repeat customer over and over The restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall but well worth the search
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
Great little off the beaten path restaurant. Order food to go, and it was hot, wholesome and delicious. Great spice and flavor. They added on some dumplings for me at the last minute and were really accommodating about it. Will be coming back for more!
google avatar

Sang Eun O.

Yelp
I was very surprised to find such a delicious Vietnamese restaurant in Mount Pleasant. We felt comfortable eating here because the staff are incredibly nice and they took proper Covid precautions. Both Pho and Lemongrass chicken were yummy- very quick service and big portions, too. I will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
My family and i are new to South Carolina, we're Asian and love Asian food so we're trying out all the Asian places this state has to offer considering there's only a handful. Not surprising since there is only 1% Asians here. Well, now back to the review, cute little place with some basic Vietnamese and Thai dishes. We've had everything on this menu most of our lives either homemade or at the restaurants, so we're very familiar with the tastes of each dish. We both ordered the beef pho. It was very basic in presentation and taste. It wasn't bad but we definitely had better. My sister did order one of the Bun dishes to go and she enjoyed that very much. We would go back of we're in the area. We're just excited to see that there are some Asian establishments here and they people are enjoying the dishes.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
We've been going here since they first opened. Get takeout pretty often. The Pho is rich and delicious, a lot more flavor than some of the other places in town. Summer rolls are excellent, we like getting the green curry stirfry over rice noodles. Pad Thai is delicious, steak and shrimp salads are also very very good. Everything is delicious, you can't go wrong. Great family owned spot!
google avatar

Shauna M.

Yelp
This is my go to spot lately for a quick takeout lunch or dinner in North Mount Pleasant. The place doesn't look like much but the food is fast, cheap, and good. It's perfect for a quick lunch. My order is ALWAYS ready in under 10 minutes. I call when I'm on my way and it is waiting for me to pick up when I get there. The summer rolls and pork dumplings are tasty apps and exactly what you would get at a more expensive place. I enjoy the Pad Thai. I always order it with extra peanuts on the dish. The curries are also great tasting but in my opinion they doing give enough curry sauce in proportion to the rest of the dish. The London Broil Pho is great. The meat is great texture and thickness and there's plenty of it. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this place.

Paul Z.

Yelp
We just moved here. Blindly tried it in house. Small place but the dumplings were delicious. I enjoyed the pho and my wife's pad Thai was delicious
