"People love to hate on chain restaurants. We sometimes hate on chain restaurants. But you know what? That hate isn’t always warranted. Especially if you didn’t initially realize the restaurant at which you’ve been eating is actually a chain. We’d been to Davanti Enoteca’s Taylor Street location plenty of times, but it wasn’t until Davanti’s River North expansion that we recognized it had a number of other locations. Davanti Enoteca isn’t quite on the Cheesecake Factory level, but it does have five restaurants between here and California. At first, this made us get a little down on Davanti, because, you know, who likes chains? But as we thought about it more, we realized that if you went to Davanti on Taylor Street not knowing anything about it, you’d walk away thinking it’s a cute little restaurant that perfectly blends into the Little Italy/University Village scene. So if anything, they actually deserve some credit for pulling this feat off. It’s not the kind of place that will blow you away, but the casual atmosphere, good food, and solid price point makes it a reliable restaurant deserving of return trips. In terms of fancy sauce in the Italian restaurant scene, Davanti is pretty much the middle of the spectrum between places like LaScarola and Riccardo Trattoria. The menu has a number of sections ranging from “vasi,” which are patés, to antipastos, salads, boards, pastas, pizzas, and plates. Generally speaking, you can use that order as an ascending scale from small to large. We endorse most of the menu - and certain options, like the polenta and the burrata, are straight up excellent. Davanti is Perfect For any Date Night or First/Early in the Game Dates, and you can never have too many Italian restaurants in the back pocket for those. You definitely can have too many chain restaurants in your repertoire, but fortunately for all of us, Davanti manages to escape that feel. Food Rundown Ricotta & Honecyomb Honey makes everything better (biscuits, friedchicken, tea, apples, McDonald’s chicken nuggets), and the same can be said here. Tasty ricotta with some added real honeycomb sweetness on the side. Roasted Cherry Tomato, Burrata, Basil Pesto Roasted tomatoes, creamy burrata, and a light basil pesto on top. Comes with bread too, and probably our second favorite dish behind the polenta seen below. Mascarpone Polenta + Ragu of the Day We don’t want to put a numerical ranking on our favorite dishes in Chicago, but this one is up there. Creamy polenta that serves as a structure of support for a hearty ragu over the top, which is always good no matter the meat. Cacio e Pepe Literally speaking, “cheese and pepper” spaghetti noodles. This dish has been off once or twice, but for the number of times we’ve ordered it, it shouldn’t be much of a concern. When it’s on, simple and impeccably prepared. Pizza Della Terra We don’t eat a lot of pizza at Davanti, but with larger groups it can be worth a try. We like this version with wild mushrooms, braised leeks, taleggio, and a little truffle oil. Capresante e Fregola Seared day boat scallops with chanterelle mushrooms, fregola sarda, which is similar to cous cous, and a little cured meat. By now you’ve probably had enough toast, and these scallops are a fresh way to cap things off. Pollo Sole Mio Grilled half chicken with a chili pepper paste. Surprisingly pretty tasty and great for sharing. The chili pepper sauce makes it all work." - Sam Faye

Nice addition to a well-established chain. Food is inconsistent. For example, salad was supposed to come with pea pods, but used green beans instead. Roasted Beets were listed as an appetizer, but served cold, and didn't appear roasted. Pasta was served a little on the tough side. Nothing was overly flavorful. Calamari was excellent. Apple crumble was delicious. Better to share as portions are large. Service is not super attentive. Prices are on the high side, so I'd expect better service.

The food was great. I went during restaurant week and they had nice portions. I like that the parking is by the door and the bathroom is too. The bathroom was clean. The service was great which was surprising because they were busy. I use a portable oxygen and they had plenty of outlets so I can charge. I forgot to take a picture of my meal because I was hungry.

Had to try this restaurant on Restaurant Week. I'm highly recommending that you try the meatballs as appetizers - very tasty! I have been in search of a good vodka sauce around the area, so I ordered rigatoni in vodka sauce. It was dry, not enough sauce. I had to scrape every noodle to get some sauce at the bottom of the plate. My husband tried their carbonara- needed more cheese. It was bland for my taste. Desserts are good. Both apple crumble and cake was delish! The place wasn't too busy on a Tuesday night. Service crew were courteous and helpful.

Adrian S was our server and maybe even the bartender that night. He was very kind, patient, & knowledgeable. He took the time to connect with us which made our last minute anniversary dinner even more special!

My partner and I came for restaurant week 2025. Wednesday night dinner. $45 prix fixe. Everything was delicious. I was excited to try a new local restaurant. We tried the meatball and bruschette for starters. Bucatini alla carbonara and pollo al limone for entrees. Apple crumble and chocolate torte for dessert. The bocelli was a great take on the old fashioned and the Riesling was great. There were two servers covering our table who were both very attentive. Will be returning.

Google
Great atmosphere and many customers on a Wednesday. Loved the slightly cristy calamari and sausage with peppers for the hors d'oeuvre. We tried the Rolli Alla Francesca which is a first ever vertically rolled lasagna with a cheese sauce center and Pollo al Limone topped with spinach. Overall fast service and super friendly waiters/waitresses. The menu is quite small but the quality of food and variety makes up for it.

Mia Francesca is going to become our new spot! The atmosphere is amazing, the food is top notch, and attention to detail and service is impeccable. I recommend this for all occasions: date nights, celebrations, or business meetings. You can’t go wrong with any dish here.

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Mia Francesca's is a must visit!!! Perfect place for celebrating our anniversary! I can't say enough about the quality of the service and food!! I think the calamari appetizer was the best I've ever had,the sausages were super tasty and my kids devoured the meatballs. Chef's special was outstanding! A filet mignon on a bed of creamy polenta, with a super tasty mushroom sauce, cooked to perfection. The kids had burgers, that were not on the evening menu, but the staff made it happen anyways. To end the evening the dessert was a revelation! One of the best tiramisu I've ever had, paired with 2 glasses of prosecco. I can't recommend this place enough! Five stars, would rate higher if possible!

Yelp
The Lincolnwood location of Mia Francesca is outstanding. The food, wine, and ambiance were excellent. The staff and Kaitlyn in particular (and Paisley) were attentive, hardworking and just really lovely. Highly recommend!

Yelp
So I went to this location with my sister in law and husband to celebrate the new years since we had spent holidays in Orlando with family. We walk in and because we had no reservation we were given the option to sit at the bar and we decided to sit to stay and have dinner there. Our bartender Adrian was super nice although my sister in law criticized the way he made a dirty Martini she said it was not cold enough. My sister in law is one of those that complain about everything so I really didn't pay attention to her complaints. He treated us awesome and although I'm not drinking any alcohol he made a very good non alcoholic drink and I was good. The ambiance and service was great very cozy and well decorated restaurant. For starters we had calamari fritti and roasted beets. Both very delicious. My sister in law and husband had Cesar salad. I had the delicious cod fish with mushrooms and spinach. My wife had linguini pasta with shrimp scampi also very yummy. My sister in law had the salmon with asparagus and her husband the chicken limone. We all loved our dinner, than came deserts. I shared with my wife a sloppy Sunday which was do die for it had on the outside spilled frozen chocolate with nuts and vanilla gelato with candied pecan yummy. My sister in law and husband share profiteroles cream puff with pistachio gelato and chocolate sauce . This is one great restaurant to revisit on a special occasion with a loved one, it's a little pricey but so worth it.

Yelp
Came here on NYE for a nice dinner before the countdown. The front desk was super nice when I told them we were going to be late because of traffic. When we arrived, we got seated right away in a small room at the back. The waiter were friendly and came back with our drinks and food in no time. We ordered the meatballs, the cod and pastas (the scallops in the pasta were so yummy and big). They all tasted good - no complaints. The espresso martinis were good (strong). I would have to say that the seating arrangements were a little cramped and tight though. Definitely reserve a table ahead of time and try out this place if you are in the area. Another plus is that they have an enclosed parking right next to the restaurant.

Yelp
My husband and I sat at the bar at Mia Francesca and enjoyed cocktails and appetizers. My first impression: the restaurant is bright with large windows, modern, and has great decor. I love how the restaurant is setup with high tops tables and banquettes. And the bar is beautiful! Our bartender was very friendly, offered menu recommendations, and made great drinks. I loved The Benito, I've been on a Mezcal kick lately. We enjoyed two appetizers: The Burrata and Sophia's Sausage and Peppers, both were amazing! I loved the toasted pine nuts and pesto with the burrata. For dinner we shared the Insalate Alla Francesca. I love endive, so this salad stuck out on the menu. It was very light and refreshing. This is the third time I've dined at a Francesca's but this is the first time I've dined at the one in Lincolnwood. Looking forward to going back and trying more on the menu!

Yelp
The food was superb, mouth watering. I had the rigatoni in vodka sauce smothered with cheese and crumbled sausage. Everyone loved their food choices. Easy parking, good service, large portions, excellent environment. Loved my birthday and it was a fabulous pick.

Yelp
This is a very lively Italian restaurant that stays open fairly late. It was packed on a Saturday night, but we only had to wait 5 minutes to get a table. The portions are quite large so it is a fairly good deal too.

Mitch B.

Yelp
We were pretty optimistic of our visit when we walked in. The space is very nice and we were brought back to a room that we shared with nobody for the first 30 minutes or so. I love Negronis and was very disappointed with the dove Negroni on the specialty cocktail list. It was infused with coffee and definitely not a good cocktail. I would not recommend this to anyone, especially those that like Negroni's. The food was fine, but the biggest disappointment was the linguine scampi I ordered. Scallops are my favorite thing to eat and ordered this dish because of that. When our dishes arrived I noticed my plate didn't have any scallops. I asked our server, "was this supposed to have scallops? The menu clearly says scallops." He said that because of the added expense scallops had come off the dish now only has shrimp. It tasted...fine but would not have ordered if I knew that. I would like to note even though it lacked scallops, it did not lower the $37 price that came with shrimp. As a former chef and now someone that works in the food service sales I completely understand the cost changes but the lack of transparency is pretty shameful. Server didn't really seem to care of this issue. I will note the tables around us seemed to have their share of issues understanding the description of the dishes and quantities of their cocktails they had too. We paid a fortune for our dinner and definitely not worth the value. Wish them luck, I hope it makes it.

Yelp
This was the second time we tried this place. The first time was right after they opened. The service was awful but we gave them the benefit of the doubt because they were new, despite there being a ton of Mia's around the city. Well, first impressions were correct. How can this place even operate? The service was embarrassing. I had to find a bussing station to get water and silverware since no one was available to bring any to us. The waiter decided on his own to substitute our drink orders because they ran out of basic drinks. He didn't even ask- just brought random drinks with no explanation until we asked why we were being served drinks that weren't ordered. Prices were high, even with today's inflation. And portions were small and beyond mediocre. It took 70 minutes and 6 times asking before we could get a check. 70 minutes. No joke. And then, to top it off, the waiter got the check wrong. This was the most painful dining experience I have had in years. For a well known restaurant group, they need to get their act together. Never again that's for sure.

Yelp
Well, this isn't the same ambiance as the well known Mia Francesca's of many years past. We have been going to Mia Francesca's on Bryn Mawr and Clark for over 20 years. This Lincolnwood location has definitely become a "chain" restaurant at twice the cost of what Mia Francesca's used to be (@Bryn Mawr, Chicago, for example). Service is slow and you have to ask for every thing. We weren't given the warm bread, signature olive oil and spices, and parmesan cheese, until we asked for all that. No salt and pepper either until we asked. Food was good and was hot -- seemed to needed to be salted -- several dishes didn't have much flavor until salted. Table of 4 came to $400.00 including tip and cocktails. I never remember spending that much on a casual Mia Francesca's dinner at Clark Street or Bryn Mawr. Menus used to be hand written and they had a new menu everyday. Now they are printed plastic menus that seem to never change. Overall, it's good. There are PLENTY of other excellent family driven Italian restaurants close by that I would rather go to and receive great service and known quality food.

Rob S.

Yelp
We were so disappointed when Francesca's closed on Bryn Mawr. Happy to stumble on this new location in Lincolnwood. We went on a very festive New Years night. The restaurant was bustling. We made a reservation for a standard table and were shown to a high top. They quickly reseated us without a fuss and we proceeded to have one of the best Italian dinners we have ever had with friendly, attentive service which wasn't fussy but genuine. They were busy and the server apologized but it wasn't necessary because we were well attended. The Rolli alla Francesca is a MUST. So glad this location opened. A special event restaurant to be sure.

Yelp
Five stars for bus persons who frequently checked on me - to pour water and ask if I needed anything. Great that the management has the bus persons interact with people so that customers don't see them as just servants to clean up afterwards. I would also give five stars for the fantastic carbonara - the guanciale adds flavor and texture. The pre-printed menu has a space for the chef to handwrite in specials such as the peapods I tried. I got to hear a brief performance of the bartender who sings in an operatic style. The restaurant should play this ambience up - especially for those of us who remember Monesteros where opera singers serenaded the diners

Laura W.

Yelp
Beautiful interior...attentive staff that went out of their way to celebrate my sister's birthday (Italian serenade too!) the food is exceptional-I'll definitely go back!

Yelp
We live in the apartment complex on top of this restaurant, so we're hoping this would be a local go-to for us. Unfortunately, with all of the extraordinary Italian food options that are in Chicago, we won't be coming back. Both me and my partner's wine and water glasses that were set out for us were not cleaned well and there was leftover food literally stuck to them on the inside of the cup from the washing machine. It was pretty gross. They brought out new glasses for us upon request, and my partner's glass was fine, but mine was still a different dirty glass!!! That was pretty incredible to me that the waiter didn't even check to see if the second glass they brought had leftover food stuck on it. The first time was a simple mistake but the second time was shocking for us. In terms of the food, like I said, Chicago has so many other options at better price points and better taste, that average food just doesn't cut it, even if it's a restaurant that is literally a few staircases from us. We would rather drive to a good place 15 minutes away than walk downstairs and that is saying a lot. The food was very small portioned, when Italian is known for huge portions that you can take home! We even ordered an appetizer before and it still didn't satisfy us and we are an average sized couple. Very expensive for how small of portions and how average it is is the gist. In addition the ambiance was not what I expect delicious food to be eaten in. Without many people there, it seemed probably more cold than usual, but I really think that the designer of the place did this restaurant an injustice by making it seem very cold and modern inside and not homey, Italian, and warm. In short, go to a different Italian place or go to the restaurants that are in the same complex right next door. They are delicious and definitely worth your hard earned money!!!

Frank M.

Yelp
Mia Francesca quickly took over the new restaurant Davanti, which was there for only 6 months. I had to check it out. Mia is known for its friendly atmosphere. Where the manager meets his diners and gets to know them. And the food was fantastic. They kept a few items from the other menu, the ricotta with honey, and the flat bread, but everything else was pure Mia. Everybody and every dish was perfect. I server was new and very friendly and competent. Highly recommend and that Lincoldwood needs Mia.

Mario Kris K.

Yelp
Tried the Lincolnwood location after eating at the Chicago location decades ago. Linguini with calamari was excellent. Bartender was very friendly and efficient--try the Sopia Loren and Venetian Gin and Tonic cocktails as they were both great. Service was also good.

L O.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Wait staff was very attentive. Decor was so cute! Very glad we got to experience this place during Chicago Restaurant Week.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
The food was amazing!! Everything we ate was delicious! The Focaccia de Rico was superb!!! Whipped Ricotta... amazing!! I don't really eat salad but my friends ordered the chopped salad and I loved it! Pollo Milanese and Vitello con Polenta did not disappoint!! Absolutely delicious!! I didn't love our server, I cannot remember her name however I understand this is just my perspective. Everyone else was great but I felt our particular server could have been a bit more attentive.

Brandon B.

Yelp
I wish I could give a better rating. The host (manager?) and server were super attentive and made sure that we got out in time for our show even though we were a half hour late for our reservation. But the food...we split the carpaccio to start, and I had the tilapia. Both created a new definition of bland. And it wasn't simply a lack of salt & pepper (though that was a factor). It was a total lack of flavor on any level. And the tilapia was grossly overcooked. I've been to several of this restaurant group's locations over many years and have been pleased. In fact, that reputation is why I went there tonight. But there is a 0.0% chance I'll be back at this location.

Jacquelyn T.

Yelp
5/5! This was my first time dining at this Francesca's location, and I was very pleased with the experience. From the delicious food, to the inviting atmosphere and excellent service, Mia Francesca Lincolnwood did not disappoint and held up the standard of a Scott Harris restaurant. A huge shout out to the knowledgeable and attentive staff, our server , Adrian was the best and our busser, Cory was great and even brought over and set up an outdoor heater for us when it got cold. A big thank you to all of the staff and especially the manager, Stash for making this a wonderful and memorable meal! I can't wait to go back and will make this my new go to! P.s. the risotto is incredible! (Gordon Ramsey should be worried) and the carrot cake and tiramisu are to die for!

Tony And Rita J.

Yelp
Food was good, staff was nice, parking was easy. With that being said, drink pour was weak for the prices. Also, we were way to rushed. I get trying to turn tables but they were way over the top. Were weren't seated 10 minutes and as soon as our drinks arrived, they were on us to order dinner which we did, against my better judgement. Appetizers were out in a hurry. We ordered a bottle of wine and before the bottle came or we were done with our apps, someone shows up with our four entrees. I told her to take it back until we finished our apps and the wine came. Then they hovered. The moment we finished our appetizers, the dinner was there and the wine showed up. I am in restaurants here and around the country at least 3-4 times a week. I know restaurant protocol and I don't hog tables. The thing is, there were empty tables all around. This restaurant I won't be going back to. It's shame because they put out a good dish. However, at $90 a person with tip, I want to enjoy my dinner and not be pressed.

Katherine R.

Yelp
Great choice for my family of 5 for Thanksgiving dinner ..attentive service, delicious turkey dinner and good pasta choices for my teens. Generous portions. Blondie brownie with salted Carmel delicious!Lovely location and convenient parking .

Rachel W.

Yelp
Loved it! The staff was so attentive and the food was just so delicious. They made my mom feel like a queen on her 92nd birthday!

Yelp
We ordered takeout and really enjoyed the food. Everything was still hot and delicious. We had the caprese du bufala, Italian chopped salad, Rolli a La Francesca, linguine w calamari and kids spaghetti and meatballs. They also included warm bread w olive oil and Parmesan cheese. We enjoyed everything and look forward to dining again.

Scott W.

Yelp
My wife and I went here on Labor Day. Not crowded when we arrived but very crowded when we left. Food was very good. Seafood pasta and bolognese both excellent. Tiramisu was really good and a big portion. Our server, Jeff, was attentive and gave us a free desert! While we won't expect that every time, we will be back soon. An excellent addition to the neighborhood.

Lynda P.

Yelp
My new favorite place. The food was excellent, Jeff our waiter was fabulous along with two others who were also attentive, sorry I didn't get their names. None of us would have ordered dessert, however Jeff suggested a surprise. I think it was a chocolate torte with cherries on the side and vanilla ice cream. OMG, better than you know what!! Absolutely wonderful dining experience, friendly staff/manager, excellent food and parking is covered inside the building.

Sandy G.

Yelp
Boo! What happened to Davanti?! That place was excellent- much more upscale food. While Francesca's portions were bigger, price about the same. I don't need leftovers - would prefer amazing food. We had the crispy chicken with vodka penne. Vodka sauce not memorable. "Crispy Chicken" was an unseasoned breaded breast. Just say that on menu please - not what I wanted. Expected a roasted/crispy skin. Most places will tell you it's a breaded breast if that's what it is! Seafood linguine also just ok - not much flavor although the seafood was fresh. So bummed this place is nowhere near what Davanti offered. Won't be back - not cheap for average flavor at best. Staff was on the ball and excellent. Overall = disappointing because the food isn't worth the price. Bummer

Dolores D.

Yelp
I just had the best meal I have had in a very long time. The food and appetizers were to die for. Chef Harris and his staff were amazing. What a welcome addition to our neighborhood. I will be going back and back and back......highly recommend!

Talia G.

Yelp
Rico our server was amazing. Very attentive and helpful with picking dishes. We were told it was his first day and he was incredible! Food was also fantastic. thank you!

Debbie A.

Yelp
The restaurant was crowded and loud. We had a reservation but were told that our table wasn't ready. The hostess told us we could wait at the bar and she would come to get us when our table was ready. Finally after waiting more than 30 minutes, we approached the hostess stand again and they had given away our promised table. She never came to tell us it was ready. We finally were given a table after waiting 45 minutes. The food was good, and our waiter was very good, but after waiting as long as we did, it was not an overall pleasant experience. They could have offered us a complimentary round of drinks or dessert or something that would have made us feel like they cared about their customers.

Ernie O.

Yelp
My two great friends knew that I am a big fan of Mia Francesca's, so they decided to take me out for my bday to the Skokie location, which ironically, I didn't know it existed. Because I am already a big fan of Mia Francesca's I knew it was going to be great, but the experience of Service, Food and ambiance was just simply at another level. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome and through out our meal, our every need was taken care by what it seemed to be by every Mia Francesca's staff. And every employee seemed to be happy to be there. The food was exceptional as always and so was my white chocolate Martini that I can't seem to get any anywhere else. I told to this to our server, and He shared with me that if they don't have it, they will try to find a way to get it. My sincere gratitude the whole staff, what an amazing experience from someone who was already a huge fan. Thanks, Ernie, Shan and Shawn.
