Miami Ironside is a 100,000 square foot mixed use center in Miami's historic upper east side in the area known as Little River. It is located next to the Florida East Coast Railway. There is limited street parking and a pay lot.
Created in 2003 from industrial warehouses by developer Ofer Mizrahi, Ironside contains design showrooms, beauty salons, shops, cafes, art studios, a wellness center, galleries, and event space. It is a place where artists, architects, fashionistas, interactive media and visual arts designers, and furniture and fixture suppliers can gather to make and sell their wares in the midst of a tropical garden punctuated with art pieces. Paths link the glass store fronts and there is outdoor dining in the central public plaza at Ironside Pizza and Italian Coffee Bar. The area between the buildings is stunning with plants and colorful eucalyptus trees that you only usually find in botanical gardens.
During my visit on a Saturday afternoon most of the stores were closed but it was still fun to walk around and explore. Right now Ironside is the host of the The Little Mermaid Cocktail Experience, a live show with cocktail pairings. Ironside may not be as well known as say Wynwood but there is still a lot of cool art and culture happening here too like the large art piece in the courtyard made from a piece of the Berlin Wall. It is always fun to discover another facet of Miami.
