Miami Nice

The fine folks at Miami Nice are masters at their delicious craft. Every sandwich, salad and hot dog I’ve eaten here (which is an embarrassing amount if I’m honest) has been obnoxiously good. And the empanadas! My god. If it’s your first time, order the Cubano with Yucca fries and get extra Mojito sauce. And a guava & cheese empanada. You’ll thank me.

Vegan Cuban food that is delish! I never had a Cuban as a meat eater so I don’t have anything to compare it to however my vegan Cuban was fantastic. Miami nice has moved into culmination brewing at the corner of NE Oregon and NE 21st. I went on a beautiful day so we sat outside.

Note- this is a vegetarian restaurant. FYI, initially found them through Yelp, who still has their old address at 2137 E Burnside Street. Was a little nervous when I parked at the new Oregon Street address because 1) the entire street behind the building was a massive homeless camp, and 2) there wasn’t a visible sign indicating I was even in the right place. It turns out you have to wait in line at a brewery to place your order with a lone server. I didn’t see a QR code to scan, so I had to wait until I got to the counter to see the menu. All seating is outside and the wait for the food is pretty long (30 minutes). The average sandwich is $14. The sandwiches are large, the sides are small, the flavor is ok- a bit off. I don’t plan to go back. $40 for two sandwiches and 1 small beer.

Not coming back. Ordered online and accidentally went to their old location using the location registered on Google maps, so drove to their new location and arrived 10min after my pickup time. They said they accidentally gave my order away and would have my order ready in about 5min. I waited patiently for about 30min, but asked about my order again once I noticed people after me getting food and was worried they gave my order away again. They forgot about me and started making my order at that point, but had to ask me what my order was and made the wrong sides and I just went with it at that point. Once I got my food 45min after I was supposed to, I open up my takeout boxes and found my El Jefe sandwich a mess (see picture) and my Cubanito was mostly mustard and burnt bread and burnt substitute meat. They added in free flan to make up for it, but I would rather have just gotten my money back. Note: bar staff (separate entity from kitchen) were really nice and gave me a free mojito even though they weren’t connected after realizing how long I’d been there. Update: switched review from 1 star to 2 stars after they provided a refund.

Authentic, all vegan Cuban food!!! Everything was bomb, and the owner is the sweetest, friendliest person you'll ever meet :) pictures don't do it justice!

For the love of GOD get the guava cream cheese empanada. WOW. Can't stop thinking about it. My salad was good too. I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to be able to have vegan flan. Total. dream. come. true, honestly. Lots of nice outdoor seating. It's in a brewery too so if you like beer you can do that too. Can't wait to go back to this place!

Decent food, good selection of beers and other alcohol, average food, and okay service. There was only 1 person behind the bar who also was the person taking orders and serving the food - they could have really worked on their service aspect a lot. I was excited for the vegan Cuban food - although the taste was good, the textures were completely off.

The guava empanadas are so insanely good that I would actually like to crawl inside of one and live there. That’s it, that’s the review. 10/10! But seriously, I can’t say enough good things about Miami Nice. I’m so glad they’re operating out of Culmination again! The location is perfect if you’re looking for a quiet neighborhood vibe with outdoor seating and great beer to go with your food. I think it’s probably impossible to order the wrong thing because everything I’ve tried has been delicious, and most of it will have you second guessing whether it’s really vegan! The croqueta sandwich, the cubanito, the empanadas and the yucca fries are to die for. The tostones and maduros remind me of Florida vacations as a kid, seeking them out at as many hole-in-the-wall Cuban restaurants as I could find. Miami Nice has really perfected the plant-based versions of some foods I thought I’d never be able to have again. The kind staff, the location, and the presentation just make all of it that much better!
