Michael's Pastry Shop

The bakery is located in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn. It is directly across the street from Michael's Italian restaurant. They have a nice variety of cakes, pies and cookies. I ordered the tiramisu and cannoli. Both were fresh and tasty. They also sell some Italian sauces and frozen pastas from Michael's Italian restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff.

this is a great bakery where I really like Baba-Rum. it is very tasty!!! I advise. Tiramisu goes from 5 stars to 3 because it should have savoiardi sticks and not sponge cake. I tried those cookies and they were delicious too.

Cake to perfection. Thank you. Exactly, even more perfect, than I expected. I showed a picture of the cake I wanted and Michael's bakers made the most beautiful and delicious cake I've ever had. Everyone at the celebration was commenting on how beautiful and delicious. Michael's are the best. I would never order from anywhere else.

Bought a 10 ins Carrot Cake, it was very stale, and Dry. No taste whatsoever. I was very disappointed, This cake was for my mother's 84 th Birthday. Decorations nicely done. The cake was horrible.

My wife and I ordered cupcakes and a Buttercream Nutella cake for our gender reveal. My family has been getting Michaels pastries since the 80s. Every weekend we enjoy their amazing pastries. Needless to say the cake and cupcakes were AMAZING!

Exceeded my expectations!!!! The cake I ordered came out beautiful and tasted incredible too( You do need to buy your own supplies and they put it together for you) but they do a great job. I am very happy!

Visited Brooklyn over the weekend from Knoxville Tn and stoped for cannolis on the way home and glad we did they were amazing as were all the other sweet treats we came home with they even made chocolate covered strawberry’s just for our daughter service was second to none and came with amazing sweets

The pastries have always been amazing!! I've known them before the bakery. I love Estell and Marie and Sal. Their brownie cheesecake ! It's all good!!! The service is always kind and courteous. Nice mellow atmosphere, love talking to people on line. Alot of people from the neighborhood. Going to miss them. They are all kind and professional, knowledgeable and they have a smile and pleasant greeting..

Came here to order a birthday cake, I will make a separate review about it once I pick it up. Besides the cake, I got a slice of tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake. The tiramisu was just ok, there was no taste of coffee and there was too much crème filling. I was a bit surprised, 3/10. The cheesecake was good, I enjoyed it, it wasn't too sweet and the strawberry cut through the cheese nicely. 6/10. I will definitely come back to try some other stuff. The service was great, very friendly and the vibe was chill, once you open the door you can smell such an amazing aroma of baked goods.

Wow just wow, came across Michael's randomly after getting X-rays close by and the smells coming from the bakery drew me inside. Got the rainbow and almond cookies and ate them while walking back to king's highway QTrain. They were amazing, fresh and soft and prices were very refreshing considering the price of ingredients nowadays. Was so much to choose from and will for sure be making the trip back just for a larger assortment to enjoy. Recommend everyone making the trip and it was only a 12 min walk from the train or u can get a bus from the station and get off right across the street from the bakery.

Went to deep Brooklyn for some Sicilian cassata cakes which did not disappoint. A cassata cake is a simple sponge cake soaked in liquor or juice then topped with sweetened ricotta blended with mini chocolate chips. The outside is a bright green almond marzipan. It's typically adorned with dried fruit and a maraschino cherry. These are also known as St. Agatha's Breasts and have become more difficult to find over the years. I was very happy to stumble upon Michael's Pastry Shop which not only had a wide selection of butter and Italian cookies, but also pastries and cakes. They had homemade tomato sauce and refrigerated pastas as well. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The ordering process was fast, but I could have lingered for an an hour looking at the tempting selections. I highly recommend checking this place out when you are in need of an authentic Italian bakery.

Love me an old school Italian bakery. I think I was ridiculously undercharged. I got a small red velvet cake pastry, a small berry cheesecake pastry, a mini chocolate mousse, and a giant Mother's Day cookie ($2.75). I was expecting that to cost between $15-$20. I was charged $8.47. Confused. Not complaining. The pastries were really good too. Crowd favorite was the red velvet.

I purchased rainbow cookies for my young daughter from Michael's bakery because it's her favorite. Unfortunately cookies turned out very dry and old! We had to throw them away and these cookies were pretty expensive! My daughter was very disappointed. Michael's bakery, why do you sell old stale food? BUYERS BEWARE, their business is very slow and instead of tossing stale food in the garbage they sell it to their customers. SELLING STALE FOOD to customers is UNACCEPTABLE!

Best cannoli's around and they have a wide variety of other deliciousness. The seven layer cookies are pretty good to try it for yourself

As a native Brooklynite who grew up close to this neighborhood, I'm embarrassed to admit that this was the first time I visited Michael's Pastry Shop. They are owned by Michael's of Brooklyn restaurant (an absolute must!) right across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful, the prices reasonable, and they offered everything you could think of from Italian cookies to pastries, cakes, and beyond. They even sell products from Italy, and their very own jars of sauce. The shop itself is your typical no frills old school bakery, and the aroma of fresh baked goods hits you right away. The only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because although tasty, the cookies and pastries I tried were a bit too sweet, loaded with sugar. I bought pignoli cookies, almond cookies, rainbow cookies, an almond horn and a sfogliatelle. Everything was fresh and soft, and melted in my mouth, just a bit too sweet.

Came here after having lunch at Michael's. I was excited to come to this bakery as my friends have raved about it. The girls weren't super friendly but I can't blame them after overhearing how some of the customers were talking to them. I mainly came here because I knew they sold Michael's vodka sauce, which I love! They have a refrigerator with the sauce along with some amazingly detailed cakes. Next to that is a freezer with Papa Pasquale ravioli. Filled up with every kind imaginable. Try the broccoli rabe ones. Amazing. They have a nice little selection of other grocery items. The pastries are pretty much perfect and reasonably priced! I got a box of assorted ones and it only came out to $20! That's a steal right there! The cannolis were my favorite. Perfect crunch and cream. They have these nice apple crumb thingies that we so different tasting. Very good. For the quality of the pastries and the price they cost, you really can't go wrong. The jar of vodka sauce was $6.99 which wasn't bad either. Wish I lived in the neighborhood. I'd be there all the time. Maybe that's a blessing in disguise!

Five stars for a good old fashioned Brooklyn Italian bakery with all the options you'd expect plus some unique finds. The pricing is great with really generously sized minis only $1.80 a piece. The rainbow cookies were exquisite- no weird after taste to the almond paste, and really great quality chocolate. It will definitely be in rotation for future visits back to Brooklyn. I feel like I may have come here as a kid but I'm not certain. Either way, would recommend and will be back. The girls serving were incredibly friendly and helpful with suggestions as well.

amazing bakery and staple in the area. they have so many great baked selections and they're all fresh and they even serve frozen pasta/ravioli and sauce that you can bring back home and make yourselves. what I usually get is the pies (they're all super good), the tiramisus (not too sweet) and the lobster tail. the lobster tail is the go to baked good to get and idk how they make it but it stays super crispy even after a few days. the service and staff are super friendly and bc of the many selections there's always something you're gonna find there that you enjoy.

By far one of the best if not the best Sfogliatella in Brooklyn or all of NYC. Crispy , flakey, rich perfectly fluffy cream filled pastey. These are big and serves two people. They also have great cookies, cakes and other pastries.

I've bought Cheese cake , cookies and canolies for New year's celebration . The lady who helped me with my order was very attentive and helpful. The cheese cake was the best I've ever tried: so fresh and melted in my mouth ! Cookies and cannolis were delicious and freshly made! We'll def be back to try another pastries and bread

I love that Michael's is a mere 15 minute walk from my home. With that being said, how on earth can I have forgotten the ever popular and unassuming lobster tail? Absolutely heavenly. Cannolis are good too, but the lobster tails are definitely where it's at.

Couldn't remember the name of this bakery. Gee, what's my name again?! Very festive holiday colors and not overly sweet, the cookies were enjoyed by my family members. My palate leans towards richer and intense flavors and these cookies were lighter and likely healthier than the French counterparts. Kudos to another friend who was thoughtful in giving my family an opportunity something that we normally wouldn't be able to try. It's been close to twenty years since I've stayed or stopped in the greater NYC area. If I get out there again in the near future, I'd likely check out their other selections or reciprocate a gift box back to said friend.

This was the 2nd visit to Michael's, an incredible surprise after our last visit to a family favorite Brennan & Carr. Best Pastry's in the area.

The quality and taste of the cakes themselves are delicious (especially red velvet, chocolate mousse and strawberry shortcake) - but do not recommend any of the custom cakes unfortunately. Was not satisfied with the penmanship and decorations on the specially ordered fondant cake for a casino-themed event, couples' names weren't written in the same size. It came in a large brown box taped on the sides, not professional in my opinion. Sticking with the individual slices and cakes from this bakery, not worth it for custom cakes - didn't meet expectations.

This Italian pastry shop has a huge selection to choose from. Cookies, cakes, cannolis and lobster tails just to name a few. Everything is reasonably priced and baked fresh. I came in to try the lobster tails and it was good but I've definitely had better. Will need to try some of their other pastries next time.

Michael's cakes, cookies and pastries are excellent. When it comes time to pick a dessert to bring home for a treat or to bring to someone's home as a guest you cannot go wrong. There are many treats to choose from. No one will be disappointed.

Ordered a cake and rainbow cookies which was disappointing. The bottom of the cake was dry. The rainbow cookies didn't taste fresh. It was also dry. I was so looking forward to it too. In the past, they had the best sweets in town.

On August 2nd I went to Michael's to purchase a few items. One item I purchased was a Sundae from their freezer. When I got home, the sundae was stale and disgusting. It tasted like it was in the freezer for weeks. I have no tolerance for businesses that can't be bothered to ensure their products are fresh before selling them to customers. I recall having this issue once or twice before with Michael's Pastry Shop. I was not going all the way back to Marine Park to return a stale sundae, so I discarded it and was out $5.00. My suggestion to management is take the time to ensure your products are edible and suitable for sale, especially in the frozen section. This turned me off from shopping here.

Michael's is the best pastry shop in my opinion. When you walk in, it smells like a proper bakery with a wonderful scent of sweet baked goods. It takes you back to a time of innocence and makes you feel like a kid again. You're always greeted with a smile and welcome when you walk through the doors. Their counters and display cases are filled with amazing baked goods and specialty Italian pastries. There's a whole display case of wonderful cakes that I always pick up when there's a special occasion or when I want to gift someone something sweet. They sell beautiful breads, pizzas, specialty cookie trays as well as prepackaged sauces and frozen pastas from their restaurant. Some of my favorite treats are the rainbow cookies, cannolis, apple crisp, fruit cups, lobster tail pastries, Napoleon and they have my favorite red velvet cup cakes. These cupcakes are exceptionally moist, have a beautiful crumb and they cream cheese frosting makes for the most amazing balanced cupcake I've ever tasted.

Large selection of desserts. Price wasn't too bad either. Got 6 small slices of desserts with some cookies and a small and large jar of sauce and total was about 33 dollars.

Italian pastry and cookies are good. If you want to buy tiramisu cake u have to call one day before. The cake can cut about more than 8 people. It taste good. I would defintely buy there cake and other cookies again. Thank you Michaels pastry shop.

Michael's is my go to pastry shop. When I come in here the girls are always helpful and I never leave Without 2 bags! I always get my Italian breads here. They're al good so doesn't matter if you get semolina, or sesame seeded bread. It's all fantastic and decent prices still. About $3 a bread. Pastries have gone up in price too but worth it because they are top notch here especially 7 layer cookies and lobster tail.. yum! Michael's sauce is also very good. If you are a expert of any Italian pastry shop then you'll get what I mean when you make a trip!

We have been getting pastries here for years, always raved about them, but never get yours here on Tuesdays, my husband just got a few sfoliatelle, definitely stale, probably has been reheated, burnt on the bottom, not crispy, chewy and Inedible, so so disappointing!!!

My absolute favorite Italian bakery! OMG I'm a dessert fan but I don't like desserts that are borderline consuming diabetes. And at Michael's they know just how to put enough sweetness. I came here to pickup a small birthday cake for my son. The young lady at the counter was so sweet and patient as we decided which cake to choose. She showed us and let us know which cakes were ready to go. We chose the cake and then I ordered a 1/2 dozen of assorted cookies and a 1/2 dozen of rainbow cookies (my favorite!) and lastly an ice coffee. I was so grateful with the patience and care I got here. The price ended up being so reasonable. I believe everything came out to less than $40. We ordered a strawberry shortcake and it was AMAZING! It wasn't too sweet at all and I ate everything lol. The cake, filing, the icing and I had a piece of the chocolate that was put on top that had the "Happy Birthday" written on. So delicious! As I left the line started to wrap around the store. It's worth the wait Michael's will see me again and I will tell all my family and friends to try them

Michael, thank you for your delicious treats. Mike makes me happy to ruin my diet. My aunt lives in Marine Park, former district of disgraced congressperson Anthony Weiner. Is that relevant? Maybe. But I love visiting her so I can stop off at Michael's to bring us something to enjoy while we chat. Upon our most recent visit, we opted for a Flourless chocolate cake $28. Sooooo richhhhh! Like oil tycoon rich! And so delicious. Sure, they have other things. But go for that. You'll fall in love.

I've patronized this business over 30x out of true love for their baked goods, staff, and the business altogether. I live within easy walking distance. It's a genuine Italian style bakery with all the immense selection of pastries including almond cookies, butter cookies, holiday cookies year-round, mini-pastries (dozens of sorts especially cannoli and lobster tail), cakes (from their famed $15 small cheesecake to their large black forest cake), international confectionaries (especially Swiss and Austrian chocolates and wafers), custom cakes, their famed tomato sauce made across the street in the restaurant of the same name, local Italian baker's daily breads, danishes and croissants, and so many other goodies that it truly feels like Christmas everyday (and decorated like it, too). Pricing is extremely fair as this location chiefly services the restaurant of the same name directly across Nostrand Ave. Examples include $1.75 mini-pastries, $2.50 pastries, $2.00 giant danishes and turnovers, $13/lb almond cookies, and $15 small cheesecake (serves 8). The front-of-store staff are all longtime staffers who're compassionate, friendly, and all around sweet. The baking and pastry staff are arduous, laborious workers who work so very hard to give us all this deliciousness, so don't forget to recognize them, too. As of today, they're open 10a-5p daily. The man who picked up the phone today sounded truly elated and humbled to be asked about their new hours and I feel him all the way. I'm going in just a few hours.

This is a really good pastry shop in Brooklyn. I love their lobster tails, cannolis, and rainbow cookies. But overall, every dessert item then have is great. Getting an assortment box is great for a party. So delicious.

Never was a fan of Juniors or Cheesecake Factories' cakes. After Ms. Maxwell's Bakery closed, I had to search for a new place to buy cheesecake. After rummaging through many different places and reviews, I settled on here and couldn't be happier. Currently the best Cheesecake in Brooklyn; I frequent here many times when I want to buy a whole cake. Employees helpful/attentive.

My friend brought over some pastries to my house from Michaels today. Their cannolis seems superb. Absolutely top notch. And their cream puffs might have been the best I have ever had. The custard inside is amazing. Looks like I am going to be requesting Michael's everytime they come over....thinking of inviting them back over again tomorrow lol

Never dissapoints. The restaurant across the street is, to me, a landmark, so the bakery is just one of the few hidden Italian gems left in Brooklyn. Parked illegally at the hydrant, ran in for espresso shots for my work day... walked out with redpepper ricotta pesto (hmmmm?) A lobster tail pastry and 5 shots of espresso in 1 cup (no judgment). 10 hours later, after dinner the lobster tail is staring at me. The pesto will wait. I love Michael's anything. Visit if you can. There's nothing not good.

Always amazing baked good no matter what you get. My go to for all Birthday cakes. The strawberry shortcake is my go to with vanilla custard. Everything is so beautiful too. If I could give 10 stars I would!

Best in Brooklyn. Fabulous cookies, pastries, cakes. Every time I bring out something from Michael's, we go from "ohs and ahs" over how gorgeous their stuff looks to "mms and yums" over how delicious it is. Their bread is great too.

What an amazing place and beautiful people ready to serve you with anything you need from small butter roll to entire dessert table for your upcoming event. Service is always outstanding. Lines, even during major holidays, is pretty fast since everybody drop whatever they ate doing at the moment you enter bakery and welcoming you with their smiles. Always come here for a cheesecake. It's a-m-a-z-i n-g Just one bite of it change your entire day and will make your head spin. But....of course, there is always "but", you need to preorder the one you want with the topping of your choice. But...as I said before, there is always "but", you can create your own topping, unless you want their most asked for - glazed fresh fruits. My is always different, it depends which mood I'm in. And the best part you never can go wrong with cheesecake topping. Today my special was plain and chocolate covered cannoli with a little sprinkle of orio-cookie crumbs....yum!!! PS For not cheesecake lovers they have amazingly delicious chocolate mouse cake with ganache cream and truffles decoration. PPS Don't forger to grab hone-made pizza and semolina bread on the way out. PPPS In case if you are not planning to share your cheesecake get a box of cookies. That will make their day fabulous and you can enjoy your cheesecake in piece!

We came here on New Year's Eve to buy dessert for a New Year's gathering. The line moved quickly even though it was super long and went all across the store. The staff were a bit rude though- when I asked to see what different cakes look like, the cashier showed me one cake and then said "all the other cakes are in the shape of this cake but have different flavors and topping on top" ... However, I let this slide since they were having a super busy day. The taste of the cake we got more than made up for the rudeness. We got a chocolate cheese cake with strawberries on top, and it was DELICIOUS! I definitely recommend coming here if what you want is a good and impressive looking cake or dessert to go.

Michael's has one of the best biscotti I've ever had. So moist and delicious. It's not rock solid like all the other Biscotti. Their cannoli's are to die for also. Michael's is definitely an old fashioned awesome Italian Bakery. Love this place

I visited my hometown Brooklyn New York and my nephew took me to Michaels because he said it was a great bakery. I was dying for a real rainbow tri-color cookie and a pignoli (pine nut) cookie. OMG it was like I went back to my childhood! After being away for so long it was a treat to eat this. I bought so many and ate them in the car. Some never got back to my sisters house because my husband and I kept on eating them!!!! I grew up on Avenue U and West 6th street in Brooklyn which was big Italian neighborhood with the best bakeries, Salumeria (italian deli) and meat stores. I wish Michael's Bakery would ship nationwide!!!!!

I very much enjoyed Michael's pastries (had cannoli) and the coffee is delicious!!!! Less than $1 for a small cup. Everyone I met there was super-nice and v helpful in helping me decide which pastry to get. I am going back to buy a jar of the sauce.

Amazing cookies! I love cookies here! My kids and i love crunch outside and soft inside. They are all freshly made all the time. Very friendly local shop and they have various goods.

This place has been in business for so many years and still going strong well known for there canolis and they also have a restaurant across the street i definitely would recommend both places to all my friends and fellow yelpers

One of the best NY cheesecakes I've had. It's creamy and not too sweet. Moved to Brooklyn too not long ago and glad I found this place. Will be coming here often. Staff is very friendly and helpful as well.

Michael's has been my go-to pastry shop for years, since it's right in the neighborhood, and the prices are reasonable. I also like that it's not too sweet. I'm not a big desserts person so I hate it when pastries are loaded with sugar and that's all you taste. That's not the case with Michael's, though. I used to only get rainbow cookies from here but then started branching out to other things. Next was the biscotti, and eventually came the pastries (think cannolis, cream puffs, tiramisu). They have a special: 12 pastries for $14.50 so I did a mix for Thanksgiving. The line was out the the door, and I ended up waiting for half an hour but it was worth it. Will definitely keep coming back to try some other desserts. Their pasta sauces also sound pretty good!

Good sized bakery with a large selection of cookies, pastries, cakes and sauces. No line during weekday morning I visited the shop. Only one person behind the counter. She was very pleasant Some of their cookies are pricey and not justified. The large linzer tarts are $6/pound where as the rainbow cookies are more than double that price at $13/pound. Pignoli cookies are $23 a pound. Pignoli cookies were a little hard and the rainbow cookies had too much food coloring. Coffee was decent.

Came here a few weeks ago to buy my dad a birthday cake. Settled for the apple and cheese log, which was heavenly, divine, and looked beautiful. The service was great too, the worker answered all my questions and ensured a seamless experience- also gave me a rainbow cookie on the house
