The 7 Best Tasting Menus in Jacksonville, Florida | Eater Miami

"St. Augustine has an abundance of great restaurants, but Michael’s continuously impresses guests with its take on high-end casual dining. Even though the restaurant doesn’t have a tasting menu every night, it hosts wine dinners and chef’s table experiences throughout the year. These dinners often fill up quickly, and chef Michael Lugo is known for creating special tasting menus for the events. Holidays like Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Even also allow Lugo to show off his culinary prowess with items like hearts of palm aguachile, perfectly cooked wagyu beef filets, and a cheese course with Basque cheesecake paired with an herb salad."

BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE! Could not have been more blown away by the food selections and ambiance. Our server Christopher was incredibly professional and knowledgeable about the menu and made the perfect recommendations. Course by course we were absolutely blown away, we made it a point to get the chefs name and chef Natasha Olivera and her team have done something truly spectacular in this place it’s a hidden gem. We’re from out of town and would intentionally travel back just to have another meal here. The atmosphere and music along with the impeccable flavors made this a perfect evening!

Google
Wow. This was the best food we had in st Augustine all weekend!! Everyone’s meal was incredible, the beef wellington was perfection. And the seafood platter was fresh. The server was super knowledgeable, polite and helpful! Will definitely return! This review was made in connection with a toast promotion.

WOW, WOW, WOW, we had an incredible dinner experience at this beautiful restaurant! From start to finish, PENELOPE was absolutely amazing, she was on top of everything and made sure all of our needs were met. The team working with her was also wonderful. Every detail was handled with care and love, which made the evening seamless and enjoyable. If you’re looking to plan a group dinner or an intimate evening for two, this is the BEST choice in Vilano Beach and all of St. Augustine. Everything is fresh, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is truly special. You can’t go wrong with this restaurant… EVERYTHING was delicious! Highly recommend for dinner!!!

Google
What a beautiful restaurant, heard Michael's moved its location in February and love the new space now located in the Hyatt hotel. Had coffee, dessert, and an after dinner drink in the lounge area of the restaurant while listening to live music. The decor is beautifully done and the service tonight was perfect. Next visit we'll have to try the steak. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough for a special meal in the St Augustine area!

We celebrated my birthday yesterday at Michael’s in St. Augustine, and it was absolutely perfect! The food was incredibly delicious, the staff was outstanding – friendly, attentive, and quick. The manager was wonderful and made us feel so welcome. The pianist played beautifully, adding such a special touch to the evening. Truly the best place in town! Highly recommended!

Melody C.

Google
The chefs table experience with the wine pairing was absolutely amazing. Everything was perfect and so delicious. The atmosphere and attention to detail was incredible. Can’t wait to do it again!

Google
We enjoyed an evening with my two children and my wife to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere was great with the pianist playing in the background and the tables set with lamps. We had a reservation and were sat immediately. The bread we ordered was amazing but we all wanted more as the baguettes were small but at the end of it's for the best as the dinner was plentiful. Thanks for the great time. Oh and the wine list you will need to take a copy home because it's huge and you will not have the time to read it all.

Google
My wife, 7yo and I went to Michael's to celebrate our wedding anniversary and new years eve. Our server(Michael) was just amazing and extremely helpful. I tried their filet mignon which was cooked to a perfect medium well. My wife tried their mushroom gnocchi and she was very happy with it. They also had a kids menu which is not mentioned anywhere so my daughter was also happy. We tried both the banana foster and chocolate desserts and both were good. I highly recommend it for a special dinner.

Yelp
We were warmly greeted and taken great care of by Amy. The menu was wonderful. We started with gold oesetra caviar, which was absolutely perfect. Their crème fraîche was delicious, as were the blinis. Next, we moved onto oysters, of which were shucked perfectly, and could not have been any more delicious. Then we ordered the bone in strip steak, also delicious, with a side of mushrooms and potatoes. The only thing that was just OK. I would say come over the potatoes. Everything else was perfect. Very much enjoyed and highly recommend.

Yelp
Second visit. We are not meat eaters but must report that both times our campanions thought the steaks were amazing. My fish and succotash was quite good but the secret ingredient was a stick of butter. That said, and this is common in this region, no attention is made to the fact that those who receive you at the host stand are important. Stop drafting kids out of middle school for this position and then giving them no coaching. Our server on the other hand was personable and professional. He did forget about describing the market fish special, but went on forever with the minutiae of the take-out-a-mortgage steak. A note on furniture, which might seem beside the point, but is representative of many other oversights (why- and again, Michael's not the only violator- does a table of four get four menus and just one specials card to pass around?). Here goes: Some of the tables have two chairs on one side, and a couch on the other. We were seated at one and it made the other couple a full head taller than us. Aside from the couches themselves being uncomfortable. We asked to change and were accommodated without a word from our host kid. Looking at the other foursomes so seated from our new vantage point, it was a scene out of an SNL sketch.

Yelp
This is a mixed review. First the service. If you go this restaurant ask to be seated in Mehgan's section. She was wonderful, informative and excellent in any way you would ask a server to be.. simply the best we can remember. The food - mixed. The oysters were amazing, fresh and tasty, The wine (recommended by Meghan, was also very good) My entree the special beef wellington was excellent and I typically do not order this type of meal preparation. My wife had swordfish and it was simply not that good, for whatever reason it came out bland and just disappointing - especially when compared to everything else we enjoyed. The dessert was also delicious. To summarize, every place has an occasional miss. The swordfish here was that miss. We will give Michael's a try when we visit again.

Yelp
10/10!! The food is amazing and the service is out of this world. It's a great quiet date night spot. A little pricey, but so worth it.

Yelp
We were a big fans of Michael's when it was downtown and we're interested in seeing how things were playing out at the new location. Unfortunately this was a very mediocre but expensive experience. We had a party at five. One person had steak that they were happy with. Two people had black cod that were served, barely lukewarm and had obviously been frozen for too long. The "Waygu" burger ($28) was served lukewarm and overcooked. The bun was likely bought from the Publix across the street several days before. With no alcoholic drinks, the meal came in it just under $350. Our server was professional, which was a high point. A teenage piano player was off and off key and playing very loudly to the point where it was difficult for people sitting directly across from one another to hear. This in spite of being sat at the farthest table from the piano. Sorry we would not go back.

Yelp
Went to the new location for Michael's and we were very pleased. We were greeted very warmly at the hostess stand and shown to our table. To our surprise we we given a complimentary glass of sparkling wine as we cleaned our hands with the warm towels. They had a number of specials so for a starter we went with the monchango cheese and caviar. Both were delicious and left us wanting more. I ordered steak for my meal and my husband ordered the branzino. Both delicious and filling. We decided to order Tawny wine for dessert. We each tried a different one and both loved the pours we got. Definitely will be back. They have such beautiful paintings on the walls adding to the charm of the restaurant. It's a very warm and inviting space.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal last night celebrating our 51st anniversary. They greeted us with a "Happy Anniversary". As we were seated our waiter, Ryan, came by to acquaint us with the menu. A few minutes later he came by with a complimentary glass of champagne. We then placed our orders. My husband had a special starter for the evening of smoked salmon tartines - absolutely delicious. I had a beet salad which had a large amount of beets and was great. For our mains, I had the steak Diane and my husband had a 16 oz ribeye which was cooked to perfection. While my steak Diane was very good, they didn't cook it table side and flambé it prior to serving it to me (which I've had done other places). Next time I'll order the filet mignon. Both were accompanied by mashed potatoes. There was wonderful music playing when we first arrived and at 6 pm the pianist played some great music on the grand piano. It made the evening enjoyable. Ryan was very attentive to our needs throughout dinner. It was a wonderful experience, food was delicious, nice atmosphere in the restaurant and they have valet parking. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing!! One of the BEST Meals I have ever eaten! I had the Bread Plate (phenomenal warm local sourdough bread with miso furikake butter) and the Petite Filet Diane (perfectly prepared to the temperature I requested) along with Fresh Brewed Iced Tea. My server, David, was wonderful too! Plus, there was an excellent pianist playing while I was enjoying my dinner. I will be back when I am in the area.

Yelp
After coming off the day prior to restaurants that were just ok at best, we experienced Michael's last night. We loved everything! Extensive (a little pricey) wine list, steak Diane did not disappoint and some great homemade bernaise for a perfectly cooked filet. The shrimp cocktail were actual jumbo U10 which Capital Grille didn't even serve anymore. Truffle fries were good but needed a few extra minutes to make crispier and would have preferred garlic aioli vs truffle aioli since the fries were already truffled. The Dauo Cabernet paired nicely and wrapped the rest to go. This is not a Hyatt hotel restaurant but a chef who does not cut quality in delivering his menu items. If I come back to St Augustine we will definitely eat here again!

Yelp
This place is absolutely delish! Their decor has been upscaled and it looks beautiful, great place for a dinner date for sure! Food was cooked to perfection, I had the Scottish Salmon NomNomm! Would definitely get again! The roasted carrots (side dish) were also delish! Unfortunately to me the Kaluga Hybrid Caviar ($115) wasn't worth it.. it came with tater tots which drowned out the mild caviar flavor. I really enjoyed this place and can't wait to go back! *Be sure to make reservations online in advance!!

Yelp
Super disappointed in this place. Told them in our reservations that it was our anniversary and could we request a nice table. We order lots of food and apps/drinks so need space. They sat us in a corner at a tiny 2-top...one of the smallest tables I've ever sat at! So small, not enough room for the food we ordered. Had to move half our stuff to surrounding areas - a nearby bookshelf etc. My husband ordered the tomahawk and they couldn't even present it on the table like they normally do because it comes with a display platter and a regular plate to eat it off of. So missed the whole joy of the presentation of $150 steak....needless to say it was the fattiest tomahawk we'd ever seen with some slices being nothing but fat! Felt like such a rip off to pay that much money to get fat you can't eat instead of the steak you thought you were paying for. Other than having a tiny hand written card on the table before we got there, they didn't do ANYTHING to acknowledge the fact that it was our anniversary or to make it a special evening! We were cramped and inconvenience with a lot of stuff being put elsewhere instead of ON the table where it should've been, a very disappointing evening all around. Food and cramped tables were not worth the over $400 bill. Will not ever return or recommend.

Yelp
This review refers to their new location inside the Hyatt at Vilano Beach. It was an amazing upscale dining experience...exactly what we hoped for! Excellent service, food and atmosphere. We enjoyed the entire experience, very professional wait staff. Michael is a wonderful, kind and humble host/owner! After dinner, we went upstairs to the rooftop bar Pesca's for a cocktail. Pesca's has beautiful sunsets and live entertainment. I highly recommend Michael's if you are looking for not just a great meal, but a great fine dining experience.

Yelp
Enjoyed a great meal here yesterday evening for a birthday. The food was excellent, the ambiance was great and service provided by Christian was first class. Our meals included steak Diane, a 9 oz. Filet and the Mofongo, a house Puerto Rican specialty of tenderloin filet strips on top of mashed yuca. All were excellent. I would rate this as a five star experience. Hope to return soon.

Barbara M.

Yelp
Beef Wellington done to perfection. Known for their steaks, the Tomahawk not properly cooked as requested. Medium rare came rare...And Brazino fish dish was plain. The petite appetizers where to have medium oyster but where very small and crab claws were tasteless. However Ahi and shrimp were very good. Definitely not worth the charged prices for this inconsistency. Ambiance would have been nicer if not seated in front of the kitchen doorway.

Yelp
Michael's St. Augustine, 25 Cuna St. Saint Augustine. Night of lights or visit to historic Saint Augustine is not complete without a date night at Michael's of St. Augustine. It's a fairy tale for your tastebuds, a real culinary experience. Burst of flavors in every item evident of chef Michael's passion to create exceptional exquisite dishes. All spices are locally sourced. The steak and mushrooms were devine and mushrooms are locally sourced from a farm who has been cultivating it for over 30 years. All the spices are either blended in house or sourced from local speciality. The food was a sensory delight for me, at every bite my taste buds thanked me. The flavors were a symphony, perfectly balanced, Quality ingredients make all the difference! The service from the moment we entered the door was amazing. Our server Kelly was incredible and the kindest. The service quality, the food and the atmosphere of this restaurant were everything you could ever ask for! We tried the chef's Experience: 1. Beef Tartare, Potato Pave, Creme Fraiche, Hackleback Caviar 2. Goat Cheese Pearls, Cucumber Ribbons, Smoked Tomatoes, Peppadews, Castelvetrano Olives, Sweety Drops, Arugula, Sherry Balsamic Vinaigrette 3. Bread & Butter Trio (garlic herb, truffle shallot, tomato datil) 4. Chilean Sea Bass, Cedar Key Clams, Local Mushrooms, Asparagus Tips, Tomato Nage 5. Strawberry Mint Sorbet (palate cleanser) 6. Wet Aged Filet, Mushroom Soubise, Local Mushrooms, Shaved Black Truffle 7. Tiramisu, Tempered Chocolate, Espresso The restaurant also has an exquisite wine and spirits collection. We had the best date nite ever.

Yelp
We arrived in town Friday night and dined at Michael's at 5!pm. We did not have reservations but their hostesses Isabella and Madeline sat us along the patio area nonetheless and we thank them. Our server Michael answered all questions about the menu and we had the best filet minon with mushrooms . Michael recommended Martis Cabernet wine and it was perfect! Manager Kelly was called and I gave her kudos to her staff and chef!. We were served a delicious cafe latte by " classic" Megan. Their chocolate mousse tart was outstanding. When in town do not miss Michale's and his dedicated staff !

Yelp
We went to Michael's for the first time last night. It was soooo good! Food, service, ambiance, and the sommelier's recommendations were just perfect. Could not have been any better.

Great food, wine, and service. Totally worth the drive or walk, if you're downtown and looking for an upscale nice place to eat.

Yelp
Never again . It was Christmas time was very excited to go there with me and my best friend. We got dressed up to the nines. You were happy walking in there and wishing everybody hello and merry Christmas from the hostess to the people we walked by and the dining room there was a couple next to us that just got married and wished him a hat. Congratulations And bought them a drink cause she saw that I got some truffle fries and she was like asked me how they were. I said they were delicious. Would you like some and she said yes so I got one of my little bread plates and I gave her some of my fries and then the manager came over and told me that we don't share food here and not have to do that again so then that put us out our taste in my mouth at that time. My best friend was eating one of their shrimp appetizers and she said you know it was good but it taste a little fishy fresh fish that's not supposed to taste fishy. We ordered a couple glasses of wine And we order steak and lobster for dinner and then it took a long time for them to get our food out at this time the manager came by us again and asked if we could be a little more quiet because I guess we were just in a good mood cause it was Christmas time but nothing crazy or obnoxious, but it was embarrassing for the second time of the night and who are them to tell me who I could share my food with or not share my food with or tell me to to keep my voice down when I wasn't even that loud in the first place and the whole place people were talking, so it's not like everybody was being quiet hush-hush so we decided to get up and leave we paid for our bill out the stuff we already ate and we left and wanted to do a collage in the collage was 100 times better With food service the way they treated us the ambience and just 1000% better customer service and food around that if you ever wanna find a great service, go to the collage and to embarrass us like that, and the bride and grew next to us was disgusting behavior the way they treated us and when we were leaving, and everyone was like, why are you leaving around us? I'm like it kind of made us feel uncomfortable and kind of tried to like kick us out and everyone was like what what what? No no no And I was like yeah merry Christmas. Happy new year everybody never again they're disgusting behavior.

Yelp
Came here tonight with my son and his girlfriend. We had the best time. We can attest to bread, appetizer, wine list, steak, side and desserts. We also loved the decor and the service. The price point is high but they are delivering what you would expect.

Yelp
Beyond amazing experience from start to finish every person in the restaurant tends to anything you need from the wine sommelier to the runners who bring your food, and especially the servers! do not leave Saint Augustine without visiting this restaurant!

Yelp
Michael's restaurant was a good choice for our dinner when we went for our girls trip at St. Agustine. The restaurant was so cute, we sat outdoor and the temperature was perfect in February. Our server was knowledgeable with the menu and always made sure our table was taking care off. Each of the food that we ordered was so good and they tasted so fresh and meet our foodie taste bud. Great food, nice place, nice experience. You got our vote Michael's!
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Every single dish here was incredible. From the appetizers all the way through to dessert (not pictured), everything we tasted was amazing. We opted for a date night special, which they don't have on the menu, but it's a sharing meal for two that included two appetizers, a 30-40 oz ribeye with vegetables and a dessert. The inside of the restaurant is very intimate and has a very formal vibe to it (although there were still plenty of people there in jeans as well). I don't know that I would say the service was five star, it was good service, absolutely nothing wrong with our waiter, he was very knowledgeable, BUT, they could definitely take things to the next level by making the service provided match the food prices. All around an extremely enjoyable experience. We came here for our anniversary and we were not disappointed one bit.

Yelp
I went with my wife, neighbors and their kids for my wife's birthday. Michael's is her favorite steak in town so it's her go to. We started with the Shrimp and chorizo app as well as the tapenade. Both were very good. The tapenade was a little different than I'm use to. It it was still good. My wife didn't like it but she doesn't vegetables so that wasn't too much of a surprise. I know what Wellington is but I always thought it was with beef. I'd never heard of Salmon Wellington. The server told me it was the last one in the house so I gave that a try. It was cooked very well and was still raw in the middle. My wife got the 10oz Filet which is what she always gets. She also got a side of whipped potatoes for the table. I got a side of carrots that were really good too. She got a Dulce leche cheesecake for dessert. It was way too sweet for me so I could only have one bit. I'm not sure when, but I'm sure we'll back.

Yelp
Slow, slow service complemented "okay" food, at a steep price. Maybe we tried them on a difficult night. When our party of 4 arrived at the restaurant which is attached to the lobby of a hotel, I was pleased by the live piano music and appropriate lighting and decor. Things went down from there when the host didn't greet me and looked down after I told them my name and reservation time. They beckoned me to follow to our table. After my wife whisked away the crumbs from the table, we sat and waited. Eventually, the sommelier came by and took drink orders and served water. Ten minutes later, a server came by and took our orders. It seemed like we didn't have anyone accountable for serving our table. Rather, service was provided by a roving group of people. The original server returned after the appetizer was delivered to ask what one of our party was having because she forgot. An hour after we finished our appetizer we received the entrees. At no time during the hour did any of the wandering servers inform us of the delay or apologize. Immediately following the delivery of our entrees, some of the server pack came by to ask how the meals were. After an hour and a half sitting, it didn't matter. We were hungry. The food was ...ok. The ribeye of my guest (requested medium) was rare. He didn't complain because the last thing we wanted after the wait was an additional delay. After all that, the bill was wrong and they charged for drinks we didn't get. No apology. Unless you're there for the wine (they have a very extensive list) or staying at the hotel, I'd put Michael's far down in my list of places to eat.

Yelp
Five Course Chef's Dinner -- what an INCREDIBLE experience! I cannot speak highly enough of the food, atmosphere and service. Not too fancy and not too casual - definitely an adult spot to eat. A chill environment that is pretty and makes you feel right at home. This was a treat for me and my husband - I got the wine pairing with my dinner and it did NOT disappoint. I'm not usually a white wine drinker but I even enjoyed those pairings because they were perfect. These dishes were exactly what I was hoping for and more. Every bite was balanced, flavorful, and decadent. I honestly am obsessed with everything I had to eat here! Everything was so unique and playful and a joy to experience. If you are looking for an out-of-this world evening in St. Augustine, this is the place to be. I will absolutely be back and will bring all of my foodie friends with me. - Amuse Bouche: Potato Pave, Toasted Seaweed Crema, Trout Roe - First: Burrata, Prosciutto, Blackberries, Pomegranate Molasses - Bread Service: Baguette with Trio of Butters - Smoked Tomato & Datil, Roasted Shallot & White Truffle, Confit Garlic & Herb. - Second: Fish & Chips, Sauce Gribiche - Third: Butter Basted Gnocchi, Local Mushrooms, Parmesan - Fourth: Beef Wellington, Foie Gras, Red Wine Bordelaise - Fifth: Bananas Foster Cake, Rum Caramel, Candied Orange

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I have never been to a restaurant in which every single bite of food is delectable and better than the first. We have started making Michael's our go to celebration spot for anniversaries and birthdays. Every steak is savory and worth every penny. The sides are unique and flavorful. Expect to pay a pretty penny, but know that it's absolutely worth it. We could not recommend Michael's more highly.

Yelp
First Time there, My Sister and Brother in Law live in the area and I took her for her birthday. Amy our server as well as all the folks that brought our meals were excellent. Comfortable seating and very nice interior seating was excellent and the over stuffed chairs were a pleasure to sit in. As posted I had the beef Wellington and was excellent, we had two scallops that my wife and sister had and I promise you it's not easy to please my sister, B-I-L had the Jamaican dish which he stated he would order again. They have lived in St. Augustine 20+ years and eat out when family comes to visit, and Michael's will be their place on special occasions. Parking was in the public lot, but we had one at the side door, and since my Sister should use a walker but refuses she had her cane. Thanks for making her Birthday Special. Redman

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner at Michael's for our anniversary and what a meal it was! I can't say enough for the food, the service, and the ambiance. Beautiful interior with comfortable "sofa" seating. Our server, Oliver, was extremely attentive and informative making our first visit welcoming and providing us with the necessary information to make the best menu choices. Located Downtown, you do need to find parking and walk over to the restaurant through the wonderful streets of St. Augustine. The Red Pomegranate Sangria was incredibly delicious and complex, perfectly balanced, and quite strong. We learned the sangria is made from whatever bottles of wine have been opened previously for several days and may contain some of their pricier selections. If you love wine, this is the place for you. The wine list is quite extensive. Beers are only in bottles or cans, but they offer a wide variety of local selections. Frankly, I'd suggest the Sangria. They offer a "Date Night Experience" for only $200 (for two) which includes three appetizers, an amazing tomahawk marinade aged ribeye, and one dessert. Because it was our anniversary, they actually gave us two desserts. The appetizers were the bread, the shrimp, and the camembert. All were incredibly flavorful and delicious. But the tomahawk...what exceptional flavor and tenderness, and the meat on the bone so satisfying to tear off with your teeth! Propriety be damned, I got my face dirty on this one and do not care. Huge portion that we were able to take at least half home for additional meals. Comes with a bowl of vegetables including a superb layered scalloped potato piece that was crunchy on the outside and tender within. For additional we chose the mushroom "crust" which was a cacophony of large mushrooms smothering the meat and making for an exciting accompaniment. We took the desserts home and ate them later, a Dark Chocolate Tort and Tres Leches both decadent and delicious. From the presentation of the food, the table cleanups by whoever happened to walk by and see the need while our server took care of another table, water refills, and general friendliness, the experience was definitely elevated all around. I don't think we'll wait until our next anniversary before we return for another go at that delightful menu! Pro Tips: There is an outside garden seating area that is first come first serve. We ate inside but it looked very nice if you enjoy outside dining. Let them know if you have any special dietary needs and they will bend over backwards to accommodate! The owner is opening two more restaurants, another downtown and seafood restaurant at a hotel by Vilano Beach! Can't wait to try those as well.

Yelp
This was our first time at Michael's and we booked the Chef's Table Experience and wine-pairing for my birthday. What. A. Treat. Every dish was delicious, thoughtful, and delightful. Chef Tosh did amazing coming up with the various dishes. I'm still thinking about our starter dish-I'm not usually a fan of goat cheese, but it was whipped so wonderfully and you could taste each individual ingredient and how they melded well together. After that first bite, I knew we'd be in for a foodie journey to remember! Our server was knowledgeable and well-versed in the various dishes that were brought out for us to try and the different wines that were paired with it. I will let the photos speak for themselves. My only regret is I didn't ask for a menu of what the dishes and wines were at the end. I did take a *few* notes on my phone but wanted to immerse myself in the experience and my company. We were seated in an intimate corner, which was nice to have that sense of privacy and like the table experience was just for us. The establishment is a bit small for its indoor seating (hey it's historic old St. Augustine) so be sure to get reservations well in advance. When they called to confirm my booking, I mentioned the Chef's Table Experience and they were happy to add it. 5/5 would recommend and would love to try again!

Yelp
Can't say enough good things! So glad we came here. The restaurant and ambience was very nice. Everyone was kind. The food and service were spectacular. Great ambience with the dim lighting and lit up art on the walls. Our waiter Tedd was friendly and the food was extremely tasty. Every dish was full of unique flavor. We had the beef carpaccio, beet salad, sourdough baguettes, ribeye, amazing carrots and gnocchi with peas, pancetta and perfectly butter seared scallops. Definitely a must try if you're visiting St. Augustine! We will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
I'm still savoring the wonderful food! I had a Rehearsal Dinner for my son, and we had 50 guests, including 6 rambunctious children. The cocktail hour and the passed hors d'oeuvres were scrumptious: poached Argentinian Shrimp, Steak Tartare Bruschetta, and Goat Cheese Terrine. My fav, the Terrine. The guests had 4 entrees to choose from, everything from the Cavatelli Pasta, Salmon Filet, La Chamba Chicken, and Steak & fries was delicious. My husband, a meat person, raved over the steak. All the guests had nothing but rave reviews. The Menus were printed and personalized. The decor and seating set-up were just perfect. I have to give a special shout-out to all the staff for their professionalism and great service, particularly Kelly Phelan, who handled all the coordination. Thank you for making this destination wedding so amazing!

Yelp
Amazing food. Amazing service. The ambiance is a bit stuffy but the food and service make up for that.

Yelp
Beyond perfection. We tried the tasting menu and every course was incredible to look at and delicious to taste. We were six people including two vegans and each course was done so well you would never know there were different things on the vegan plates. Tash, our chef and Nate our waiter made the dining experience superb for all of us. I cannot recommend this experience enough. A must do!!! I took a few pictures, sorry but not enough.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. Excellent food and service. Is presented as a steakhouse but according to chef's Puerto Rican origin there is a great latin fusion cuisine. The shrimp mofongo is the best. And for dessert the tres leches is superb. You have to order and pay for the bread, but do it as it is excellent. We will never miss Michael's when we go to St. Augustine.

Yelp
What an absolute perfect place for our anniversary dinner! I had called a week ahead to make sure we were able to get a table for the night of our anniversary. The lady was very helpful, I got disconnected and called back and she immediately asked if I had just called to make dinner reservations a few minutes ago. Super friendly and enthusiastic which sets the tone for our visit immediately. Although I had initially asked for an outdoor seating, the night of our reservation was actually rainy and cold so I asked if we could sit inside instead even though she assured me that we would not get wet and that there is a heater available outside should I choose to still sit out there. I'm a whimp when it comes to the cold/wet condition so we opted for dining inside. Our waiter was pleasant and brought a complimentary drink for toasting (rose/prosecco something like that). My husband does not like wine or any drinks related to the wine family so he only brought one glass. Shortly after, the sommelier came to help assist with my wine selection. My heart is usually pretty set on some cabernet sauvignon so she assisted in choosing the one for me in a sea of wine selection. My husband was pretty set on his beer selection so she went ahead and grabbed both beverage for us. We started with some plaintain bon bons which were delicious. Plaintain wrapped in bacon and some flavorful sauce. For my main course, I ordered a 16 oz ribeye, medium-rare and a side of their creamed greens. He ordered the salmon wellington. Both entree came perfectly prepared. My steak was fantastic and came with a complimentary sauce (I chose the red wine bordelaise). I am generally not a sauce person when it comes to my steak but the sauce was quite delicious! The salmon wellington was prepared nicely... No soggy bottom and the pastry was flaky and with the right crispness consistency. Then the icing in the cake... The dark chocolate torte. What a magnificent dessert! The sea salt sprinkled on top makes for a perfect flavor combination in every bite. Absolutely the best ending to a fairy tale dining experience. I will cherish such delicious memories from Michael's and I am so glad we had the opportunity to dine here while in Saint Augustine! The staff were fantastic and I could not have asked for a more perfect time.

Yelp
What a classy dining experience! It's set in an old house in the middle of the historic district not far from the fort. Service was of the highest caliber- Blythe was our server on our visit. We went with the "date package" that included an assortment of appetizers, a massive tomahawk steak (cooked perfect with different finishing butter choices ) and dessert. The wine list is voluminous and included a range of price points. The dining room is nicely appointed and seating is not crowded.

Yelp
Over all a great experience. My only negative is the price is high for the food quality. Service and vibe was great, nice relaxing experience. We did the chefs couples experience for $200. Three small appetizers- the bread plate was the best, soooo good! Large tomahawk steak- tasted great and presentation was very nice. The veggie side may have been the tastiest thing we had, I'm not sure how they made potatoes taste that amazing but wow they were good. Tres leches for dessert and it was just fine. Overall I would recommend for a splurge if you are looking for a nice date experience. It does NOT beat Burns in Tampa. Steak was good, but not as good as Burns.

Yelp
My fiancé and I are newly made locals. Moved here last month. He and I chose Michael's to celebrate his birthday early, and for the first time ate at Michael's. AMAZING! They 100% beat out Berns Steakhouse in Tampa Florida for us, which was our top steak spot. We loved it so much that I'm thinking about having rehearsal dinner there in January. Definitely need to try them out! Plan to spend a little bit of money. The staff was also amazing. The blonde manager( I think her name was Tracy) will be one of the reasons we will become a regular! Our waitress was lovely too!

Yelp
This restaurant is known for the steaks, and although we don't eat meat, we enjoyed the food here. We celebrated our anniversary and it was nice surprise to receive two champagne glasses on the house:) The tuna tacos are a must and so is the sea platter for appetizer. The wine selection is impressive.

Yelp
Came in for dinner on a date night. The restaurant is very cute/romantic. The menu is small and specialized but the food is amazing! We ordered the Tomahawk Steak dinner for 2. It's a 4 course meal for $200. The starter was the Michael's Board. It would have been nice to have a choice of something else, neither of us are big on charcuterie but it was tasty. I asked for my salad without dressing but I came dressed. It was pretty good. The steak we ordered medium as my date preferred that but I prefer medium rare. It came out medium rare so I was happy. It was a little more rare than I would even expect for medium rare but it was yummy! It came with 3 toppings. The butter one and tomato ones were my favorite. The scallion one was just ok. It came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Those were both very good. For dessert we had the choice of 5 options and we picked the bananas foster, it was really good! Overall I'd say the meal was slightly over priced but only by $25 or so. The bottle of wine was reasonably priced. The staff was lovely. Megan was our server. Another woman came by who might of been their sommelier but she didn't introduce herself. I would like to go back and get their mofongo sometime as it looked really good going by. The bathroom was clean and cutely decorated. One final note: the place may or may not be haunted. We had a rose in a small vase which we moved out of the way to put the steak down. About 5 minutes later it jumped off the table all on its own. No bumps to movement. It might have slid on some water/sweat but it coulda been a ghost!

Yelp
We stopped in here again on this trip and it is still amazing! We got the 5 course chefs dinner with wine pairing. Really nice! It was pricey but it was worth it as the quality and flavors were top notch. Still probably one of the top 3 places to have an anniversary / romantic dinner in St. Augustine.

Yelp
We had a 9pm reservation which was really late for us but I am so happy we kept it. While waiting to be seated, we didn't have one employee walk past us that didn't give us a welcoming smile. Our server was Blythe and she was wonderful! Very knowledgeable with the wines and menu. She informed us of a special "Date Night Experience" that is offered to couples which includes a Tomahawk steak to share, two baguettes, potatoes, vegetables and a shrimp appetizer. I would highly recommend this for date night.

Yelp
This was overall a great place to eat for a fancy night out. The restaurant has an excellent wine selection (with a selection of wines from italy, spain, california, etc.), quaint outdoor seating, and great service. The indoor seating felt a bit cafeteria style. I would bring your bug spray and opt out of indoor seating. From a food perspective, the chef is puerto rican and does a great job of transforming dishes into unique experiences you will likely not find anywhere else. For example, we ordered a salmon wellington for our entree. Even though the salmon was inside of a pastry, it was cooked at a perfect medium temperature. There were plenty of unique appetizers as well- we ordered the montaditos which were plantain cups stuffed with very tender, juicy beef, and an avocado crema salsa. So juicy and flavorful! We started our meal off with a bottle of wine and a michaels board, which was only large enough for 2 people (in my opinion), and came with a hard cheese, a soft cheese similar to brie, a goat cheese baklava, prosciutto wrapped wagyu beef, a small piece of honey comb, sausage, and some nuts/peppers/fruit jams. It was a great assortment, but I prefer my standard manchego plate.

Yelp
We had made reservations a couple months ago. Our first time dining here. Our Waiter was fine. We ordered the shrimp appetizer with bread and wine. We both ordered steaks, mine was Wagyu I ordered it medium, my partner ordered rib eye medium, which took quite awhile we had seen the servers walking around with our dinners they finally found us. When my partner cut the steak it was very rare, my wagyu was raw very unappetizing. The waiter came over & we told him the situation, he offered to refire the ribeye and took it, we asked for the manager a young woman came over very rude we explained to her our steaks were both undercooked she had to "call" someone, she came back & said they will remove ribeye but the wagyu we had to pay for "half", we declined as it was not eaten, again she needed to call someone. She came back & said they will remove both I should hope so. We dine out a-lot to 5 star establishments etc. for the prices they charge they should have someone on site who can make decisions. No leadership on premise is a very poor run business. We paid for app, wine & $10 breadsticks & left. The " manager" was so rude & did not care we were paying customers. We heard they are moving 10mi away maybe they're already checked out! There are other restaurants in area better food & service.

Yelp
We were able to get in on a Friday night without reservations to celebrate our anniversary. From the host to our waiter Christian, the service was amazing. We sat outside in the courtyard. It was intimate with our table off to the side. The right amount of fans kept us cool and there were no bugs. The water fountain and light added the right ambiance. Michael's is a hidden gem off St George street. From the appetizers to dessert, the food was delicious. The port chops are great if you are looking to have something other than steak. It had a smoky flavor that we cannot stop talking about. Great place for a date night. We will be back again!

Yelp
Had an amazing time as first time here. Had the Picaña and paired it with Tempranillo. We also tried the salmon and it was fantastic. The ambiance is perfect for st. Augustine and the service is good. Glad we were able to give feedback to the manager, it was a good dinner overall.
