I'm grateful for legal help they provided me in the past, but beyond that, recently they don't answer emails to legal questions, or give rude, abrupt responses to any further enquiries regarding continuing problems. There's really no explanation as to why they are behaving this way, and it feels very painful, especially after watching their videos about wanting to protect survivors. MCEDSV seem "afraid to make waves." In other words, there are people in the community who they deem to have social standing, and they wouldn't want to take any stance that might ruffle feathers in a legal capacity, despite what they may say or promote in their videos on their website.

MCEDSV is one of only two providers in St. Joseph County Michigan to help with domestic abuse related legal issues. I am referred to them over and over again. My recent emails with the legal service have all been met with a frosty and terse attitude, if they bother to respond at all. There is no explanation of why they are acting this way, and no referrals to any other agency. Like most providers who emphasize they are "trauma informed" I find they struggle to find a courteous way to communicate. I do find their hotline people very polite and helpful, there are just no resources for survivors, so they can't provide me with any help.
