Absolutely worth the wait! I originally wanted to stop by in the afternoon, but the line was out the door. I came back later and still waited about 20 minutes—but it was totally worth it. Inside, the atmosphere was joyful—kids and adults alike were all smiling with ice cream in hand. I got a cone with a scoop of Deer Traxx (vanilla ice cream with a fudge swirl and peanut butter cups), and it was hands down one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. Perfectly creamy and rich, not overly sweet, and the chocolate and fudge added depth and texture in every bite. The whole shop has a fun, lively vibe, and the view of the State Theatre marquee through the window just adds to the charm. I’m so glad I decided to stick it out and try it—it definitely lived up to the hype.

Google
Dude!! Lavender honey is life!! Happy lavender season!❤️❤️❤️line out the door… please keep the door closed to keep the AC in the building.. yes, line out the door!! 1 scoop waffle cone was very generous too❤️❤️❤️💪💪 and free sprinkles!?! U know i took some!😁

Google
No one has a more decadent soft serve like Michigan Creamery. Bummer they don’t have dip here. I’ve tried so many places, and the flavor is always lacking. Love that the cake cone is coated, fun surprise. The sizes vary. The junior was $4 and some change. And they kept the ice cream inside the cone not all over the place :)

Google
The workers are great, the ice cream is delicious, the prices are fair. My only concern is the lack of diversity on the mural. 🤷‍♀️

My husband’s all-time favorite ice cream shop (after Stucci’s)

Google
I simply love this place. Their ice cream is so great. So many different flavors are available. People who work there are so kind and friendly. The best part of this place is location. Practically right next to Michigan and State movie theater. After the movie, eat in some restaurants in that area but skip the dessert, for dessert come to Michigan Creamery.

Google
Really tasty ice cream but nothing too special!

Google
First time coming to this ice cream place and really enjoyed it! They make their own waffle cones. They have hard scoop ice cream, soft serve custard, a few hard scoop frozen yogurt flavors, and a few hard scoop vegan flavors. Got a custard twist in a waffle cone and it was very good. They had a variety of flavors and toppings. Small seating area inside.

Yelp
DoorDashed this last night, too. I had a hankering for something cold and sweet. I did not know what is in the Michigan Pothole, but Google mentioned it being a chocolate lover's dream, so I ordered it. It's black-tar fudge swirl with chunks of chocolate. It's really, really good! I plan to rate the DoorDash driver a 0 once I checkout and get to the airport. The DoorDash driver did not deliver this to my room (it's on the first floor near the lobby), instead it was delivered at the front lobby without any word to front desk. Horrible! But delicious ice cream! What a treat after a long week!

Yelp
Michigan Creamery is serving up homemade ice cream and located right across from U of M. You can see lots of local shops and stores- including some really cool antique shops You can choose from all different types of rotating flavors. Their lavender honey was so creamy with just the right touch of flavor to it. If you like citrusy flavors, the orange sorbet would be a great choice too! Unfortunately they didn't have the key lime flavor we were looking for but that just gives us another excuse to be back The workers were all very friendly and there was plenty of indoor seating. The walls had lots of scribbles and signatures, definitely giving that college town vibe. Would be a great place to hang out around campus!

Yelp
The ice cream is perfect! They have some unusual flavors. I get the honey lavender. The flavor, creaminess, chill... this is the best ice cream I've had. The staff is always helpful, friendly, and efficient. I enjoy my visit each and every time!

Yelp
We finished the seoul and wanted something sweet so came here Ice cream: Creamy and flavor is quite on point. Not too sweet, subtle flavor, nothing over power. Scoop size pretty good My husband and I really like the texture of it. It's on a thicker side, not quickly melting, it's more tightly stick together?! But we really like it. We were more surprised that it tastes better than some other hyped stores around Ann Arbor. We got Lavender honey and sea salt turtle. I personally loved anything with Lavender and hates fake Lavender taste, but this tastes quite good! I highly recommend! So far my top fav with Lavender flavors are from salt and straw and a specific lavender farm in California. My husband likes sea salt turtle, he said it's not like other places where the saltines is emphasized, but it is subtle and balanced. Service: the worker was a bit tired but fulfilled all our requests of trying 6 different flavors The ambience is casual andike a mom and pop store vibe, nothing fancy or cool, just an ice cream shop shop style, nothing special. I would recommend this as a more quiet date stop if you just want to casually know someone and nothing serious. Extra: We didn't try, but they have a free sprinkle section! Feel free to try

Yelp
Super long line for some ice cream. There are a lot of unique flavors but it's comparable to a less creamy version of Kilwin's.
google avatar

Ivy C.

Yelp
Love the variety and uniqueness in flavors! The lavender honey was unexpectedly really good, very subtle lavender taste.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute, local ice cream shop. Friendly service and phenomenal ice cream. I had the lavender honey and lemon custard. 10/10 would get those flavors again.

Yelp
We were told this was the place to visit while in Ann Arbor. Small spot with limited seating but the ice cream did not disappoint. Plenty of flavors offered and if you cant make up your mind, they offer samples. We went in after dinner and there was a line to the door but it moved pretty fast. It was a hot and humid day, and we got lucky finding a small table to enjoy our ice cream and AC inside. Clientele seems to be mostly students but also saw several other people coming in and out.

Yelp
Despite me freezing my butt off, this was still the move. Bet it would be THE move in the summer but I'll have to go back and see.

Josh F.

Yelp
It was fine. They had some unique flavors but nothing remarkable. Michigan pothole was fantastic the rest were Ben and Jerry's quality. Not affiliated with U of M. Line was long and moved slow. Open till 11 though.

Yelp
Very busy on a Saturday night but the staff knows how to keep up. This shop has a bunch of flavors of ice cream and different options to customize your cone and bowl. My ice cream was rich in flavor. Would definitely recommend

Yelp
One of my favorite ice cream spots in town! I remember this place used to belong to Stucci's, another ice cream parlor frequented by students. This location is extremely accessible to folks who are regularly on campus as it's situated almost right next to the Diag. I love the diversity of flavors here. It was nostalgic and comforting to see old "kid" flavors like Superman and blue moon I enjoyed eating growing up. Service was great - I got to enjoy many flavors before making my final selection. I ended up getting a sprinkle cone with lavender honey ice cream to go on my last visit. Love this spot, will be back!

Yelp
This place is my go to ice cream shop when I visit Ann Arbor! Yesterday we were there during the Art Fair. The store was well staffed with attentive and extremely friendly workers. I got the Michigan pothole ice cream, which was phenomenal! You can't go wrong with stopping in at Michigan Creamery when you're in downtown Ann Arbor!

Yelp
Even an Arctic current barreling through Ann Arbor would never stop a true Michigander from having a scoop of good ice cream. Well, I'm not a true Michigander. I'm just a Michigander by marriage as Jamie W. is true blue, but I have my own dairy needs, too. Right on the edge of campus is this old-school ice cream parlor with handmade chocolates for sale as well as scoops of decadent creaminess. It's the type of place that serves frozen yogurt out of cardboard containers, not oozing out of a spigot at the discretion of my handle prowess. That's what Jamie and I went for, no sugar added be damned. The small cups were only $3.25 each. Jamie went for straight-ahead Chocolate (photo: http://bit.ly/2KNsVFB), while I chose the Blueberry Vanilla since swirls flatter me (photo: http://bit.ly/2QNJEMR). Satisfying indeed. Go Blue! FROYO - 4 stars...a richer froyo but who's complaining? AMBIANCE - 3 stars...old-timey but in a good way SERVICE - 2.5 stars...a bit harried for Wolverines TOTAL - 4 stars...Go Blue! Yelp
The icecream here is so good and the staff are sweet. Praline Pecan is creamy and delicious! So many caramel swirls and pecan pieces. Try the different flavors before choosing one because there are so many amazing choices!

Yelp
I've gone several time now since Top Of the Park JUST to get the Banana Pudding ice cream in a cone - absolutely one of my favorite ice creams ever and highly recommend it. The location is extremely cute with the mural but even better are the employees which were welcoming, friendly and helpful in offering tasters and suggestions. Thank you so much!!'

Yelp
I had high expectations for Michigan Creamery after seeing raving reviews and yes, the ice cream was very good. I got the strawberry cheesecake flavor and it was rich and very yummy, but the service was just not up-to-par with previous reviews I read. Two young women stood around chatting instead of helping customers, two of which made up a very cute older couple who seemed to be back in Ann Arbor for the big Michigan-Wisconsin football game. They were on their phones and had a few "oh, I should ask this customer if they want something" epiphanies and then they went back to socializing. Portion-wise, I got the junior size and it was very large! Good bang for your buck there. Also, on a side note, the bathroom is in the back and was not very clean.

Yelp
Formerly Stucci's, Michigan Creamery is a great treat if you're downtown in Ann Arbor. Not sure why the name changed but the ice cream is still just as tasty and reliable as Stucci's was for all those years. They're open later (to 11) on weekends, which makes it a great post dinner/before a late movie dessert, which is exactly what my husband and I did last weekend. Came in around 9pm after a meal down the street and we each got a small bite of something sweet before hitting a flick at the State theatre. It was perfect! Hand dipped ice cream is the standard here but they do have soft serve if you would prefer. I was into the idea of soft serve so I ordered the peanut butter cup sundae in a mini size. It's vanilla soft serve topped with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, and a Reese's peanut butter cup. When she handed me my sundae I was kind of disappointed because the mini was WAY more mini that I had anticipated, but the fudge and peanut butter were so rich that it was actually the perfect amount. If you want a larger serving though, go for the large. My husband, also feeling a peanut butter and chocolate combo, got a small scoop of the sundae basically in hand dipped form. He was also really into it. It was fairly crowded for a Saturday night but the employees were with it and kept the line moving quickly. Turn over is pretty fast here so we had no trouble finding a seat, although it was standing room only when we left.

Yelp
This place was formerly Stucchi's which I guess was a bit of an "institution" here in Ann Arbor. The creamery is nice, though! They have delicious ice cream, are open later than Stucchi's was, and it's a nice stop after going to the newly re-opened State Theater! You can try as many flavors as you want and the space inside is quite big as well. I'm sure they compete with Ben & Jerry's, but the whole "shop local" agenda is strong in Ann Arbor!

Yelp
This past summer was the summer of ice cream. We went up north and had it every single day. No exaggeration. Then when we got back to the A2 area, we needed a place for our fix. Enter Michigan Creamery. The service was lovely, the ice cream delicious, price as expected. The location is a little bit of a struggle for parking... other than that, this is going to be a place we hit when when we are in the area. Since I live in Ypsi, Go Ice Cream! is my main place... but they have limited hours, so thank goodness for MC.

Yelp
Perfect for the classic scoop. Great selection of flavors. Large serving sizes and low prices! Can't go wrong with an american classic

Yelp
This place is amazing! They are very accommodating. Toppings in separate containers. Patient with young children etc

Yelp
Got the blueberry vanilla frozen yogurt. I do not usually enjoy fruity flavors for frozen yogurt or ice cream, however, I decided to try the local favorite. Let me say, it did not disappoint. The blueberry swirls tasted like homemade jam. My partner got the Michigan pothole, and he finished the whole thing in less than 5 minutes! The workers were very quick and kind. The only critique is that the menu was a bit confusing, as there were ice cream flavors on the frozen yogurt menu.
google avatar

Kyle V.

Yelp
Quick stop in to get my niece a scoop of ice cream and it did the trick! The staff was very friendly and let us try anything we wanted but we were also the only ones in there on a rainy day. She picked Superman and wanted a cone, which they have many options of. They also gave us a cup because they knew things get messy.

Megan P.

Yelp
Variety of flavors and decent ice cream but there are better options. Sundaes are worth trying though
google avatar

Yelp
I got an ice cream cake for my sister for her birthday and it was fantastic. We both thought the cake was great, and the price for such a nice cake was reasonable! I got the chocolate chip cookie dough flavor cake, and I recommend it!

Yelp
Top notch ice cream Second to none Right near main campus of university of Michigan Had Mackinac island peanut butter fudge, amazing. Reasonably priced too, two small cones $9. Nice

Yelp
One of my favorite ice cream shops around! Their ice creams are actually creamy. They melt fast so you know it's not stuffed with preservatives. Just good 'Ol dairy. They have a wide assortment of flavors to choose from. Immediately when you walk into the shop, the fresh waffle smell of their cones takes your nostrils on a forbidden journey. I came with a friend and we ordered their toasted coconut almond ice cream, mocha espresso ice cream, strawberry and pistachio on waffle cones. It was a bit expensive but their portions are generous. It was also very packed but they usually don't take too too long on the orders. I will be back soon!
google avatar

Yelp
We happened to walk past this place on a whim, and are glad that we stopped by. The staff were informative of the flavors, and let us sample them, and the little signs and seating area were a nice touch. A great Michigan company, with many flavors that truly reflected the state. I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
Happy to support this local small business - especially since it's an ice cream shop!! The name says it all: it IS SWEET CREAMY GOODNESS. A delicious dinner at nearby Sava's, just a block up/North on State, deserved a sweet treat cap-off at Michigan Creamery. All we wanted was a little taste treat of sumpin' sumpin'. We both ordered a JUNIOR-SIZED CUP of their ice cream deliciousness which was the PEEFECT SIZE for us. Good value for the money. This place is across the street from the Michigan Theatre on State, you can't miss it - it's literally next door to.....Ben and Jerry's...wt?!!! Ice Cream Wars anyone? There just HAS to be a good story behind that one. Michigan Creamery, as a local business with exceptional product, is my choice hands-down - a DAIRY DREAM with ice cream worth screaming for (get it? ...see what I did there?) :)
google avatar

Annabelle T.

Yelp
We spontaneously decided to come here after dinner! I definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a sweet dessert! We ordered one scoop of the Mint Chip and Cookies and Cream! YUM! (Also, super weird side note but I'm lactose intolerant and I was super ready for pain at night, but it never came) The server was super nice! Even though it is one scoop, they fill up the cup all the way up! Will definitely go again :)
google avatar

Yelp
The best lavender honey ice cream I've ever had. If you're in the area it's definitely worth a stop.
google avatar

Yelp
Stucchi's is an Ann Arbor establishment. Known as the number one ice cream shop on campus, Stucchi's has about 20 flavors to choose from with a lot of creative ideas. One of the coolest things is that you get free sprinkles if it's snowing out. Definitely a common occurrence when we're talking about Michigan! I went with the small ice cream in a waffle cone which comes with your choice of two scoops. Went with the banana pudding and the vanilla chocolate chip. Out of the two, the banana pudding was my favorite. If you've ever been to a BBQ joint in the south, you know banana pudding is the go-to dessert. Translates well in ice cream form too! A great spot to stop by after dinner for dessert, support local business!
google avatar

Shunta J.

Yelp
The best ice cream (and chocolates) in Ann Arbor!! Located next to a Ben & Jerry's and is definitely the better of the two. Make sure you stop in when you're in Ann Arbor!
google avatar

Naomi L.

Yelp
I've been to many ice cream places in Ann Arbor and this one is the clear winner in my book. There are interesting flavors and good service. My favorite part that keeps me coming back for more is actually the texture of the ice cream. Too often, I've had icy, diluted, flat textured ice cream. Not here. I've only had there scooped ice cream, not shakes or sundaes, but their ice cream has the most divine texture: creamy, decadent, rich. The ice cream is not overly cold/hard; it's got the loveliest amount of give. I always get the junior scoop--I find it's more than enough. Sometimes, they even have free sprinkles! When I crave ice cream, I crave Michigan Creamery.
google avatar

Nina E.

Yelp
It's not good ice cream. Didn't think was possible, but here I am now. After reading some other reviews, it seems I visited Michigan Creamery after they changed ownership from a former beloved company. Bad move it looks like. I love ice cream. Almost any kind of ice cream will satisfy my palette, and I say almost because this was a game changer. This ice cream was incredibly icy (versus creamy) and fairly tasteless. They didn't add enough flavoring or sugar, which resulted in frozen milk. Blech. Plus, the workers seemed to be irritated when we asked for samples. That takes all the fun out of ice cream stores! Just hit the ole B&Js next door. This place isn't worth it.
google avatar

Danica S.

Yelp
Lots of options including local favorites! I'm not sure what's more shocking: how they manage to stay in business during Michigan winters or that they're open pretty late for an ice cream shop!
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
My first impression before even entering Michigan Creamy wasn't the best. The location is NEXT to Ben and Jerry's. Everyone's always at Ben and Jerry's so I thought Michigan Creamery wasn't good. It was 9:35PM and my friends and I were craving ice cream. We wanted to go to Blank Slate cause everyone raves about it. But it closed at 9. We checked Ben and Jerry's and they were also closed. We check one other location and of course, it closed at 9. We finally saw Michigan Creamery was opened until 10PM and it had 10% off your entire bill. SO WHY NOT?! Upon arrival, I was disappointed cause it was the ice cream shop next to Ben and Jerry's - "the not so delicious ice cream shop". The moment we went in, it was empty but the workers greeted us. I looked at their options and saw that they only had 1 option that was an option for lactose and tolerant people. Slightly disappointed. I then decided to try some flavors and it was honestly delicious. I was mad at myself for being so biased without even trying this place. Michigan Creamery is a cute ice cream shop and I can honestly say I'll be back! :)

Yelp
Stucci's was awesome in my Ann Arbor days many years ago and it is awesome now. Please, for the love of all things LOCAL, get your ice cream fix here, rather than the National-can-buy-your-ice-cream-in-the-grocery-store joint next door. My son promised to treat me to some froyo or ice cream on this campus visit to U of M, so naturally I chose to come here! Being sans car, we'd walked all over Ann Arbor this day (roughly 8-9 miles) and so by the time I walked into Stucchi's, I was prepared to indulge! :-D Choices! So many hard choices! I tried several flavors, which really didn't narrow it down for me, since they were all good. I settled on a monster-sized chocolate-dipped waffle cone stuffed full of creamy goodness in the form of blueberry cheesecake ice cream, banana pudding ice cream and peanut butter chocolate froyo. Mmmm... Thankfully, this indulgence was HUGE so I was able to savor it for a while. My son munched his was through a more reasonable raspberry chip frozen yogurt in a cup. Who would've thought mom would out-eat her 17 year-old growing boy! ;-) The service was helpful and friendly. I still love this place after all these years. :)

Yelp
My complaint with ice cream is that it's always too sweet. Thus, my choice of ice cream - PB&Mac (vanilla ice cream with Reeses and peanut butter) and Banana&Chocolate wasn't the best choice. The chocolate dipped cone didn't help either. However, it wasn't bad, it's just that it was too sweet. Plenty of my friends who were there loved it. The ice cream is creamy and dense. The peanut butter taste and banana taste were very apparent. However, I wish the banana ice cream had more actual bananas in it. Personally, I love the sorbet-like qualities of frozen fruit. The waffle cones, besides being pretty, had no special qualities to them. Again, they were extremely sweet. The staff was very nice though! They let me taste at least three or four different flavors. They also give very generous portions.

Scott S.

Yelp
A really nice and convenient ice cream shop, Michigan Creamery is a delicious spot perfect for a cold treat on a Summer day. B
google avatar

Jazzi K.

Yelp
We stopped in on a whim one night after dinner. I had heard that Michigan Creamery was the best ice cream in Ann Arbor, so I had high expectations. I got a scoop of raspberry frozen yogurt and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The vanilla ice cream as delicious--thick, creamy, and so rich it was almost chewy. Two scoops would be too much for me. Unfortunately, the frozen yogurt didn't work as well for me. It had lots of hard little crystals in it, which (I think? I'm an ice cream newb.) is probably due to the lower fat content, but still made it less pleasant to eat. I liked the chalkboards on the wall. Visitors are able to draw on them while they eat. Lots of families had written their names, and it gave the whole shop the kind of cheerful vibe you want with your ice cream.

Yelp
I spent an entire July venerating this place nightly on a trip back to MI. Exceptional experience except for that one fella at the register who I had to remind 3 or 4 times to quit showing up to work with his Sparty hat on. You know the kid. Please show this young man what is appropriate and inappropriate attire to come to work on State St. cause that isn't it. Aside from that all good.

Yelp
I am a fan, and definitely intend to come here frequently over the summer! Although I'm still Washentaw Dairy's #1 fan, this is a great alternative if you're near the area. They have so many interesting flavors, and I love that they let you sample as many as you want. I couldn't decide! The reason this place gets the coveted fifth star though, is for its service. I had such great service here: the staff is incredibly friendly, and will go out of their way to make you happy. For example, the woman who helped me was willing to TRIPLE split for my ice cream, and only charged me the kid's price (I only wanted a single scoop). She saw how torn I was between three flavors, and was more than happy to do that. Even if it was just a small gesture for her, it meant a lot to me, especially since I chose to go get ice cream that day after having a very stressful day. I ended up getting the White Russian, blueberry pie, and black cherry (of course, my favorite flavor). All were so delicious--the White Russian wasn't too overly creamy, and there was a nice little aftertaste of alcohol. ;) The blueberry pie was BURSTING with flavor. The black cherry was good, but a little artificial--Washentaw Dairy's is much better. Also, I love that it's locally owned--I'm all about supporting the local businesses. Overall--10/10 and will definitely come back again!

Yelp
Updated: I returned on 5/26/19 and it was much improved. They had 4-5 frozen yogurt flavors instead of 1-2, and the ones we ordered were good. We didn't try the ice cream but we definitely would come back if they continue to have frozen yogurt varieties that are tasty. Old review: Yuck- what happened to Stucci's? The ice cream has no flavor now that it has new ownership.
google avatar

Yelp
This was probably some of the best ice cream I've had. Creamy and full of flavor. I got the Michigan pot hole which sounds unappealing but is amazing. There were chunks of chocolate in there that got me wanting more! The ice cream was so good in fact, that I had a nice walk in below freezing temperatures, enjoying this treat. I'd love to come again!

Yelp
Unique and awesome! 2 perfect words to describe this establishment. I have been a fan ever since the first time I visit here. This is a 100% ice cream lover must-visit the location, They have almost everything you can ever dream about. This place is pretty much packed from the moment it opens all the way until the moment it closes. If there's anything I don't mind waiting for, it's the line at Michigan Creamery for ice cream.

Jillian S.

Yelp
Ice cream selection and flavors are fantastic! They have the basics and fun, seasonal offerings for your sweet cravings. My fave is in a house made waffle cone...soooo yum!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
The shakes here are really bad. They should warn customers about the consistency of their shakes. I feel like most customers expect a shake to be thick and creamy but here it was watered down and thinner than even a chocolate milk consistency! We regretted opting for the shake instead of regular ice cream. The ice cream flavors are decently good though. But even the ice cream is pretty thin in consistency. So while the flavors are fine, the thin ice cream and shakes make this place a no go. Maybe I'm used to being spoiled by amazing Ohio ice cream (Graeters, Jenis) but this did not cut it! Would go to Ben and Jerry's right next door next time for sure. There are a few chocolate selections here and soft serve which I did not try. Perhaps those are what are keeping customers around. Pass on the ice cream and shakes though!!
