Michy's Relaxed Dining

We dined at Michy's with friends this past weekend as Michy's was always our favorite. The food was excellent but the service wasn't good and I would not consider it "relaxed" dining anymore. Too many rules! No substitutions and you can't order your appetizers in advance- our server said the chef wants everything ordered at the same time. We just wanted to relax and have some drinks and nibbles before ordering and eating our mains. While we were eating our apps, the waitress came by and asked if we needed another round. My friends ordered drinks, but my wife and my drink were only half finished, so we didn't order. But the waitress NEVER came back until she asked about dessert. We saved $33 for the drinks, but we would have liked another one. They need to up their service to match their food. My wife had the scallops, which were delicious and cooked perfectly. I had the Halibut special, which was a large fish portion and also very delicious. The fish specials are the main reason I like Michy's- they are always top notch. The ceviche and bang bang shrimp apps were also great. They need to up their service to match their food and if they are truly relaxed dining, they should have fewer rules. Know before you go- they take reservations, which are highly recommended during the season. They have tons of free parking due to their strip mall location.

A second night in a row of phenomenal food and drinks at this quirky decorated restaurant in an odd shopping center in south Rehoboth. Great vibe of patrons (and convincing to move here!) while enjoying a fabulous, potent violet margarita first night and my new favorite French Poully Fuisse bottle of wine. Scallops and salad with fresh peaches first night, and tuna with red curry and cilantro day 2. Awesome food and dessert of coconut cake. Will be returning for my birthday in late September.

Best kept secret in Rehoboth. We had dinner to celebrate my birthday. The service food and atmosphere was fantastic. Can’t wait to visit again and try other things on the menu

My family and I recently enjoyed our annual end-of-summer dinner with my and it was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, the evening at Michy’s was a true delight. We began with a few cocktails, my mother especially enjoyed the El Dorado Old Fashioned and the Violet Margarita, both crafted beautifully. For starters, we shared the Firecracker Shrimp, Calamari, and Bok Choy, each dish offering fresh flavors and perfect execution. For our mains, we chose the Scottish Salmon, Braised Short Ribs, and the Filet Special, which my father thoroughly enjoyed. Every entrée was flavorful, well-portioned, and thoughtfully prepared. To end the meal, we indulged in the Key Lime Pie and Bread Pudding, both desserts were rich, balanced, and the perfect sweet finish. Our server, Mark, was outstanding, polite, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Michy’s consistently delivers on quality and atmosphere, and this visit was no exception. I look forward to returning again soon

Phenomenal place. Truly spectacular food and awesome service (thanks Jess!). Don't let the strip mall location fool you - it's really charming both inside and on the patio, which is dog friendly. Highly recommend the firecracker shrimp (generous portion) and filet of beef tenderloin special. Oh and the bread pudding - it's so perfectly fluffy! Great wine list too.

Michy's is one of our local favorites! Vivian, Michelle and staff are friendly and fun and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming too! The food and specials never disappoint and the cocktails are delish and a wonderful way to start the meal. Can't go wrong at Michy's and be sure to make a reservation!

What an experience. Superb food, wine and service. We were recommended to visit this restaurant on the basis that everything about the place was excellent! We decided to pay them a visit, thinking nothing could be as good as suggested. I can only say I was forced to eat my words, along with the amazing food. The owner and his excellent team, certainly know their craft. I have experienced fine dining across many continents, and this is certainly at the top of the table. My only disappointment, is that we were only visiting!!🤦🏻‍♂️

food was OK but expected better. biggest issue was learning at check out that several other customers bills had been mistakenly charged to my credit card. waiter gave me a copy of mistaken receipts and suggested I moniter my credit account. WHAT!!!!!! Fortunately, 24 hours later only one erroneous bill had been applied to our account. So far. Meanwhile, we weren't offered as much as a free cup of copy! Great experience? Hell no!!!!!

I have to say been coming here for years...and it's consistent. Tonight's was my Birthday Dinner and it delivered. I had my Makers Mark Manhattan to start, olives and bread, Caesar salad, Tuna Poke....all delivered....Great wine with the Papillion, an Orin Swift selection. Entree, filet special with fingerlings and mushrooms, horse crusted salmon, chicken Milanese and seared scallops..All Delicious...Thank You Michy's and Mark our server...All Excellent...Dessert we chose a peach and blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream....we wanted 2 of them but we could online get one, sold out early...bummer....Great establishment and top notch.

Our table of 4 sat on the heated patio. Our server was fantastic and helpful with her knowledge of the menu. Don't be deceived by the outside appearance. Loved the scallops, short rib, tuna and pear salad. Great drinks and overall terrific spot.

Excellent meal here last night. We didn't have reservations, but were lucky enough to secure the very last unreserved table on the porch. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We both chose items from the regular menu... the short ribs, and the horseradish crusted salmon. Both were fantastic!!! Skip the downtown crowds and expensive parking and have a great meal here.

Service was helpful and professional. Food was special and superbly prepared. All in all, one of the best meals and experiences in Rehoboth. We will be regulars.

Logistics - Parking is ample, easy ingress /egress from the main drag The Food - I've been coming to DE for several years now and this is, hands down, the BEST food I've had. The short ribs dissolve under the fork's touch, the horseradish crusted salmon, fuggetaboutit. The Atmosphere - heavy on relaxing and the chill vibe. The Service - attentive and welcoming. The downside - their limited hours. Reservations are a must.

Wonderful, attentive service, well prepared, fresh food and a good wine list. The warm olives started off the evening. The fish special was generous and beautifully seasoned. We wrapped up with gelato and decaf. Definitely worth the price. The only short fall was the beer list. Nothing interesting, reminiscent of the eighties (think blue moon and Michelob).

At the edge of a strip mall on Route 1, you will find one of the top dining destinations in the Rehoboth area. Michy's sports an artsy funky vibe and is packed with locals enjoying a fun night out. I like to start with one of the fabulous craft cocktails and the flavorful dish of warm olives. The firecracker shrimp is also outstanding. I typically enjoy one of the seafood options, with my top go to choice award, the scallops. On a recent visit, the other half enjoyed the spectacular beef bolognese. Do call for reservations!

Service was great. Food was delish. The scallops were the best I've ever tasted!!! Party of 6 & all of us left very happy!

Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! I have been dozens of times so this review is very overdue. I live in Washington DC and Michy's is above and beyond my favorite restaurant, better than any restaurant in DC (and we have some excellent ones!). If you are looking for delicious, unpretentious food and drinks, look no further. My go-to entree is the Horseradish Crusted Salmon--I'm not even a big horseradish person but WOW it is amazing every time. My family loves entrees such as the short ribs, bolognese, and chicken milanese. Even the poke, which I don't usually eat unless I'm actually in Hawaii, is fantastic. "Simple" dishes like Caesar salad and beet salad are also DELICIOUS! I always take guests who are visiting from out of town and everyone is blown away by how amazing everything is. I am also very picky about cocktails and hate paying $15 for a cocktail that is meh--but that is never the case at Michy's! Their speciality cocktails are consistently amazing and whenever I have ordered other cocktails from the bar (gimlet, for example), they've been excellent. The ambiance is very nice and they did a great job updating the patio during Covid to allow for more seating/outdoor dining. It looks like some people have complained that they felt rushed here--in my experience I have never felt rushed. But if you are the type to really linger for hours at the table, book a later reservation so there is no one coming behind you (they seem to generally do an early seating and a later seating, like 5/5:30 and 7/7:30). I eat here every time I'm in a Rehoboth and whenever I try somewhere different, I always just wish I came to Michy's! Don't miss this place when you're in Rehoboth!

Great restaurant, wonderful people and great food. One of my favorites. Richard is an amazing chef wonderful flavors and everything is so fresh.

This restaurant came so highly recommended, hence, my decision to take my family there for a special occasion, albeit with great disappointment. First, this place is not cheap. Bring plenty of cash. That being said, I can not express my disappointment in the staff. Especially the manager who decided it was ok to approach one my guest when she didn't like my comments regarding being overcharged for a drink that was undrinkable. Had I heard the comment, I would have made a scene. Lucky for them. The worst of which was when prior to being seated, I personally informed the waitress that we were celebrating two birthdays. The waitress did nothing to acknowledge this celebration. Not a candle, a happy birthday wish. Nothing!! After receiving a $402 bill, I thought to myself how sad, that we had to end the evening without the recognition of the two birthdays. I can not tell you how upset this made me. So, these people get two black eyes. One for not caring, the other for approaching my guest with their off color comments. To end this, I will never patronize this place ever again. Excellent service once past the person that tried to greet us. Great selection, drinks were great appetizers and entrees were delicious and our waitress was excellent. A fun place to have great drinks and some creative delicious meals. The service was professional and excellent.

Food is really good... However, the place is very small and it gets extremely crowded so I wouldn't exactly say it's relaxed... It seems to me they should take reservations only

We tried Michy's tonight for the first time and it was not good. Was it just a bad night? We have heard such great things. We live locally and have somehow just not gone here. The shrimp appetizer was soaked in mayonnaise. My halibut special was almost inedible - so much salt and pepper that I could barely choke it down. I didn't send it back only because I had flown in today and was STARVING. My husband had the chicken Milanese and it was very dry and tasteless. But the worst of it was we had a 7:30 reservation and they told us to come early because they thought they could get us in at 6:30. We waited until 7:50 for our table. When we asked why they told us to come early they seemed surprised and asked who said that because our reservation was for 7:45. It wasn't. I don't think we will ever come back. Is it always this weird or was it just an off night?

Always get your reservation in order if you are interested in eating at Michy's. The food is always fresh and tasty. The staff is professional. The ambiance is relaxing. Highly recommend!

We had a very friendly woman wait on us. It was a surprise how welcoming she was after the asshole who answered the door wanted to give us the worst table in the entry, even though we had a reservation. The woman intervened and it was all uphill from that moment. Food was very good, atmosphere was interesting, if they had a better welcoming person I would have given 5 stars. Don't let the first moment in your restaurant be so unpleasant

Excellent dinner at Michys. Wedge salad was amazing. Dayboat scallops were cooked perfectly, but the accompanying mushroom pea risotto, while cooked perfectly, was a shade on the salty side. Also, the inside tables were pretty close together -- I could hear the conversations at adjoining tables perfectly throughout my meal. Next time (and there will be a next time), I'd choose patio seating.

I can't believe I didn't post a review. It's been a few months, but Michy's is by far the best dining experience my wife and I have had in the Lewes, Rehoboth area. I liked the laid back, funky vibe. I don't remember what I ordered, but do remember that it was delicious. Haha

My husband and I went recently for my birthday. We had a lovely evening. Loved the decor. The service was very attentive but not intrusive. We had a pleasant waitress. The food was absolutely delicious. The appetizers were excellent. The entrees were inventive and yummy. We'll be back soon. Can't wait. Lorraine M. Millsboro, DE

Excellent dinner, both the scallops and halibut were fantastic . Warm, friendly ambiance.

Very disappointing... I've been to Michelin star restaurants that offer more. Paying for water and no bread; odd. Ordered the short ribs which was a portion of.beef which was tender but flavor.level of Sunday pot roast at a diner. Vegetables were raw; could not peirce with a fork. Rigatoni bolanaise was missing tomatoes in the sauce and very salty. Yuck. Thought to try to violet margarita...had zero taste, definitely not violet and then the rim was old bay. Completely ruined it; violet and old.bay, what were they thinking. Tables had vases with plastic flowers from the dollar store as well as.the planters on the new patio. Will not.go back.

First time here but it won't be the last . Small restaurant ( make sure you make a reservation) located at the end of a strip malll so there is plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For appetizers we had the flash fried calamari and the firecracker shrimp. Both were lightly fried and had a nice spicy sauce with it. For dinner-- sea scallops, sea bass,, salmon and the braised short ribs. Meals came out quickly and hot. All 4 of us were very happy with the dinners. The restaurant does have covered outside seating if the weather is good.

Another wonderful night at Michy's. We didn't have reservations but went in a whim and we're able to snag bar seats, score ! The service with our 2 bartenders was amazing- typical at this creative local spot. We started with an appetizer of firecracker shrimp, always delicious, then moved into a few specials for dinner. My date had the pan roasted beef tenderloin with fingerling potatoes, sun dried tomatoes, fresh basil, local asparagus and blue cheese butter. It was amazing- he almost licked the plate. I had the swordfish special, with fresh corn, smoked bacon, red pepper, potato hash, basil and lime. Every time I try a new seafood dish at Michy's it is the best thing I've ever eaten. Beyond amazing. We had a few cocktails to go with our dinner and enjoyed great conversation with our bar mates. We ended our evening with a homemade ice cream sandwich- dark chocolate chip mint. Another hit. We don't go to Michy's frequently- but it is one of the absolutely best restaurants in Sussex County Delaware. The creative menu and absolutely fresh local ingredients combined with personable and professional service never disappoints. You really must have reservations if you want to be sure you can get in- you will be very happy you went.

Finally made it in for dinner after wanting to for so long. Everything was wonderful and delicious as you might already know based on the 4 plus star rating! In short, give it a try you won't be disappointed!

Apparently this is a popular restaurant. Not at all customer friendly. Open 5-9. We arrived at 4:45 with reservations. The front door was open but we were told we need to wait til our 5pm reservation. It was 90° outside but we were not welcome to sit in the air conditioned porch area for 15 minutes. If we didn't have a prepaid dinner we would now be reviewing another restaurant. High marks for the server and the meal. I for one am not impressed by the snooty attitude of the establishment. We're not talking about a water front restaurant. This place is in the Food Lion shopping center off the Coastal Highway with waterfront prices This is a one and done for us.

Always excellent food and service. It's in a shopping center, so there is always parking even in the height of summer. Ambiance is great--don't be fooled by shopping center location. Highly recommend. Have taken many guests here and have never been disappointed. They also take reservations.

As always, the food is terrific. We always get a few appetizers and share them. The service is always top-notch. Vivienne is the best!

We had an amazing dinner last night at Michy's! We sat at the bar & loved the bartender, Talouse. She made beautiful violet margaritas! I had the tenderloin, which was fantastic & my friend had the scallops. They were served with risotto- divine! Will be back!

Took us 2 years to get to this place - because who chooses the spot in a strip mall on the highway with all the other spots in this beach town? Big mistake! The service was great and the bartenders are awesome. The food is delicious and it's super cute inside. We also happened to get lucky the night we went the first time to get back there again because they are always booked up!! Plan ahead for this one but it's worth it.

Charming, comfortable, delicious!!! My favorite restaurant in the RB area!!! The entrees are brilliant. Loved the scallops, risotto, fish, French baguette!!! And amazing cocktails!!! As a full-time resident, I will bring all my guests to Michy's. My Aussie and British friends will love it!!! It's a treasure

Every part of the night was terrific. Seating was perfectly done in the time of "COVID". Cocktails and food were amazing. The service was attentive and personal without being intrusive. A hidden gem.

Located in a shopping center, this small restaurant is a culinary gem! Our group's main courses ranged from short ribs to diver scallops to pepper encrusted tuna. Every dish was amazing! By the way, did I mention their drinks? My wife is in love with the dirty cherry cosmo. And our desserts were sublime. I highly recommend this hidden gem in Rehoboth Beach!

Michy's is one of our favorite restaurants in Rehoboth. However, our last dinning experience was disappointing with an inexperienced waitress and an unappealing meal. Hopefully an isolated occurrence.

Just had one of the best meals I've had in awhile! My husband and I have been talking about coming to this place forever and the only con is that we didn't come sooner! I got the violet margarita and he had the perfect Manhattan. Both were delicious. For meals we both ordered off of the specials menu. I had the tenderloin and he had the swordfish. Both were excellent and we cleared our plates! In addition to delicious food the atmosphere is really cute. We will definitely be back, and soon!
