How to Raise Money for a Restaurant Without a Network of Investors | Eater NY

"Pelka raised $1.5 million to open the luxe West Village Champagne bar the Riddler by assembling a large, diversified investor base (more than 30 backers), primarily women, and by asking anyone she thought might have $5,000 or more to consider investing. Her approach emphasizes meeting people socially to build rapport, following up with a detailed business plan, and having a full plan ready before soliciting capital." - Stefanie Tuder

Hi everyone, and thank you for reading my reviews! ✨ Yesterday, Thursday, September 25, 2025, we visited Mickey Finn’s Brewery. The atmosphere was super lively and fun — it happened to be karaoke night 🎤🍻. Lots of smiles, good music, and a friendly crowd. The beer was excellent with a wide variety of house brews. The food was tasty, the portions were generous, and the service was fast and friendly. 💡 Tips for visitors: 1. You can book a table online through the Google Maps link, but I highly recommend calling to confirm by phone, since the online system sometimes shows no availability. 2. Parking is easy — you can leave your car in the back lot or at the bank parking area just to the left. 3. Definitely try several beers by ordering a beer flight — it’s the best way to find your favorite flavor. 🍺 4. Before ordering food, check out the brewery’s Instagram or photos on Google Maps — the menu doesn’t always give you a clear idea of what the dishes look like. 📸 5. Don’t forget to bring your driver’s license or ID — the security guard at the entrance checks your age. 🪪 A great place to spend an evening with friends and recharge with positive vibes. We’ll definitely be back!

Totally forgot to take pics of our food. Amazing vibe love the atmosphere. Hubby loving the beer.. First time trying cheese curds yummy but salty after eating alot! Our waitress was super sweet and friendly. We are here on vacation and thinking we might be back before we leave.

Mickey Finn’s Brewery is absolutely outstanding! I ordered the fish and chips and was blown away — perfectly crispy, golden batter on the outside with tender, flaky fish on the inside. Easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere. To top it off, I tried their Pineapple Train beer, and it was amazing — refreshing, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or welcoming. From the food to the drinks to the service, everything about my experience was top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending Mickey Finn’s to friends and family!

I was excited to try some of Mickey Finn’s new menu items in my hometown local establishment! I had the honeydew deuce-since I’ve been watching Wimbledon every night and it did not disappoint! Very tasty! Also tried the smash burger and fries! Delicious smash burger sauce, excellent toasted bun makes this a must menu item!! Service was great and able to get a table quickly during lunchtime! Can’t wait to return to try the Oktoberfest specials!

Google
Love this restaurant. Staff is friendly and very attentive. Menu options are varied and can change with the season. Since it’s almost time for Oktoberfest, the beer and did menu offered related items. I ordered the Pretzel Logic Festbier, and we ordered the Hänchenschnitzel. Really very good! Enjoyed dining al fresco and had a really wonderful evening.

Google
It was fine. Even before the live music, very very loud. Pizza and fish and chips were good. Other dishes mid. My wife liked the beer she had, something with pineapple in the name. Service was solid.

I recently visited Mickey Finn's Brewery in Libertyville with some coworkers for lunch. The place is spacious and has a nice ambiance. Initially, the service was decent, but it deteriorated as our meal progressed. I ordered the tacos, and while they were okay, they didn't stand out. What really frustrated us was the slow drink refills and the 30-minute wait for our bill after finishing our meal. Additionally, they advertise a 3% discount for cash payments on their website, but we paid in cash and were still charged the extra 3%, which felt quite sneaky. Looking at other reviews, it seems experiences at Mickey Finn's can vary. Some patrons have praised their burgers and ambiance, noting good pricing and a lively atmosphere. Others have mentioned that the food is average pub fare, with excellent hamburgers and a great atmosphere. However, there are also reviews highlighting subpar food experiences, indicating some inconsistency in their offerings. Overall, while Mickey Finn's has potential, our experience was marred by service issues and unclear billing practices. It might be worth visiting for their beer selection and ambiance, but be cautious about potential service hiccups.

Yelp
This place is super neat! Inside is big and there's plenty seats and TVs, I think an amazing place to watch some sports! We're not locals but this is what we tried. Cheese curds: 6/10 Happy hour pizza toasty: 3/10 tastes like a store bought oven pizza. Chicago dog: 6/10 (tooo much mustard) Brussels: 4/10 They were no kind of crispy and they tasted like dates. On the upside: All the beer was delicious and the service was great. We would come again.

Yelp
Tried this lively spot and overall it was a mixed bag, but there's definitely potential. We ordered a 14" cheese pizza with mushrooms, artichokes, and spinach -- it was huge, thin crust, and baked perfectly. Really nice crisp without being too dry. Just wish there had been a bit more spinach. The Greek salad with grilled chicken was solid. Fresh ingredients, but they forgot to put the dressing on the side (even though we asked), so it came out a little overdressed. Not the end of the world, but a small miss. Originally ordered the ahi tuna poke bowl, but it came out smelling a bit off -- like something was spoiled (maybe the ginger?), so we sent it back. They handled it well and brought out a chopped salad instead. This time they did remember the dressing on the side, and it was actually great -- crispy bacon, good blue cheese, super fresh. Big recovery there. The 12hr short rib was okay. The meat itself was fine, but it came with a massive pile of mashed potatoes that were overly buttery and kind of oily. The sauce was too rich and didn't really balance the plate. Sweet potato fries (we got the half order) were a nice surprise -- hot, crispy, and lightly seasoned. I'd totally get those again. Service was friendly and they were trying hard, which we appreciated.

Yelp
apparently management at Mickey Finns doesn't look at yelp the restaurant is excellent however with the exception of the changing of the menu items that were taken away. We will going back when the fix their menu.

Yelp
Great place for kids. We loved the giant pretzel. Wonderful service and great vibe. We would love to return, kid-free to checkout live music.

Yelp
Came here for a team outing. Great cocktail menu and they all tasted great. The menu didn't have a lot of GF options listed so had to continue asking questions, but they can make a lot of items GF. The server was knowledgeable and was able to have the nachos, fries, and caprese sandwich all GF. The food was delicious!

Yelp
This place is amazing! The hospital is down the street and unfortunately I had to fly in from Dallas so Mickey Finn's has been my go to place to get away. The food is AMAZING the service is AMAZING it is cozy and comfortable sitting at the bar. I wish there was a Mickey Finn's in Dallas TX because it would be my place!! Thank you Mickey Finn's for making a hard difficult time for me and my family a little lighter!

Yelp
The place is cool and a very friendly staff but the food is awful don't waste your time . We got four different meals and everything was awful. Stick to the bar

Yelp
Loved the Southwestern salad with blackened chicken. Their fries (regular & sweet potato) are delicious. The Tito's Bloody Mary was great, and well-priced at $10. Service was friendly. Biggest negative is definitely the second floor bathroom! It's a ridiculous design to not provide facilities on the main floor.

Yelp
Mickey Finn's is a local favorite so we decided to grab dinner. It's located on Main Street in downtown Libertyville in a very cute area. I ordered the chopped salad with salmon and my friend ordered the tacos. The food was good and hit the spot for something casual. The service was friendly though a bit slow. I would come back again, though with so many options in the area it probably wouldn't be soon.

Yelp
Awful, terrible service and food. Went in for food and drinks. Took my drink when I was in the bathroom and my food came out, the bartender ignored me and said he thought I left although I put napkins on our drinks. Went before and food was terrible to subpar. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Good food at fair prices and a fun environment! Really enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. I came in for lunch but would love to come back on a weekend night. There was a stage set up for bands so I imagine the place is a lot of fun on weekends. Will def stop back in when I'm in the area

Yelp
This was one of the longest bars I've ever seen! When I'm going to grab a beer, I always prefer to grab a seat at the bar so I'm not taking up valuable table space - Mickey Finn's makes that super easy. The bar chairs are also actually comfortable, which you definitely don't find everywhere. They had a huge list of drinks, and a lot of really great beers. I tried the hefeweizen and it was probably one of the best hefeweizen's that I've had. Employees were super nice- even though the place was packed. I never felt like I went a long time with an empty beer glass. While we didn't order food, we (not weirdly) saw the people around us order food and it all looked tasty.

Yelp
Happened to go on a Friday during happy hour looking to get some good deals on their specials. Their menu was so enticing we opted for things off the discounted menu (although those options also looked good too). The cilantro chicken bowl was amazing , and I happened upon a great cider (the guest offering of key lime pie cider--yum). We also had the Hell on Wheels appetizer--unfortunately it seemed to be made with pickled jalapeños instead of fresh, but was still pretty good. We'll definitely try again--and maybe test some of the specials next time, since the service was almost always at the table when we needed something or were ready to order more.

Yelp
Went to their website to buy two $25 tickets to their "Oktoberfest". Clicked their site to buy tix. No help whatsoever. Called to bar. Was told to go to another site to buy tix. Hard to buy. Had to download this app and sign up. Finally got the tix but was charged $5 for processing. Got to MF at 5. Left at 6:30. No band playing. They advertised 5-10pm for music. NOT. Do yourself a favor and don't show up until 7:30.

Yelp
Located downtown Libertyville, so you got to look for street parking but there are some garages. Spacious space with an outdoor patio that is heated. The host and our server were accommodating with our large party. We were originally seated in the patio because there wasn't any large table inside. The did let us know, there was a reservation in a couple of hour that booked the whole patio but will get us a large table inside once something open up. I started with the Helles Belles which is a nice smooth lager. Easy to drink but mid way I switch to the Bloody Mary which also came with a small beer on the side. The bloody Mary was delicious and strong. The beer was a nice addition. We also ordered fries and wings which isn't pictured but pretty good but not amazing. The Finn Classic pizzas was very try good. Definitely recommend that pizza if you're at Mickey Finn.

Yelp
Certainly this is one of the main reasons for coming to Libertyville. It's known for having lots of beer, and the food is also okay. Mickey Finn's is one of the longest lasting of the craft breweries in the suburbs. For sure it has something to do with the great beers. The food can get pretty expensive, and it can be too crowded to have a good time in here though. Any review about it has to start by talking about the beers. It's been around for a long time now, so they've created many styles to choose from. There's the classic European ones, as well as the fruity and IPAs types of stuff. It's about $7 a pint. That's pretty typical for a craft brewery it seems. Flagship beer is the Libertyville Lager. It's a kellerbier, one of the more classic flavors they have on tap. Good one. This is biscuity, cracker malty, grassy, and spicy. As for the food, not bad either. The menu can be meaty, but there's choices for vegetarians. It's about $15 for a Beyond Burger. There's also pizzas. Great stuff as far as beers. It's closed Mondays. The food can be greasy but there's some healthier choices so get whatever.

Yelp
I am actually really happy that changes to the menu have happened recently because my first experience with the food was sub par. My first visit I ordered the fish fry, wings, and calamari. The wings were dry and over cooked, the fish over cooked and no flavor, the fries were room temp and not seasoned, and calamari was very rubbery. The atmosphere was lively and our server was great but I thought I would not come back for the food . My hubby loved the beer but also thought the food was meh. I have since been back because my hubby said he went back a couple of times and the food was really good. He loved the chili and Corned beef sandwich. I went back a couple times and tried the specials. If you are not trying the specials then you are missing out. I have had the rock shrimp, collard greens, shrimp & grits, lemon pancakes, Corned beef, and yes the fish fry again. I didn't even know they did brunch. I was blown away by the food . I am also happy to report that the fish and french fries were cooked right and seasoned. Maybe those who are not happy with the fish were used to a more bland flavor or are allergic to seasoning. The reason I did not give it 5 stars was each time I have gone back the service was just OK. I never get greeted when I walk in and have to pull the host/hostess attention from their phone. The servers often seem distracted, uninterested , and in a bad mood. Maybe when I become a regular they will be nicer but they often seem put out. The menu here is a mix of common bar food staples as well as some new upscale options. I am a fan now. Again ask about the specials. If you don't like something I recommend bringing it up to your server about your concerns. The true measure of a place is how they attempt to address customers concerns. I read some other reviews and it is interesting how regulars who claim to know the owner or have been a customer for so long did not first attempt to bring their concerns up to Mickey Finn's before writing a bad review...

Yelp
The menu changes are okay but I miss the prime rib. Food was good. Service was great. Still has the vibe that are jumping and great for a party crowd.

Yelp
How on EARTH is this place at 3.4 stars? Let me tell you, I REALLY LIKE Mickeys! 5 stars, I greatly enjoy it. We come here several times a year. What do I like... personally, I like their enormous pretzel (think: Bavarian), and I do their fish fry as my entrée. Or, oddly, their American-style pizzas are really pretty good! That's an odd spread, but it sort of makes sense for a Chicagoland bar. They do it all, very well. I will say - it's a bit loud. Think Sports Bar on the inside. If you're looking for intimate, this isn't it. But what intimate restaurant serves Fish and Chips, right? XD

Yelp
Mickey Finns has been a favorite restaurant of many in Libertyville. It's a very popular place that is casual and comfortable. The food is great!! I had a cheeseburger that was awesome. My daughter had Ahi Tuna and my son had the chicken nachos. My son loves the cheese curds, so we had that as an appetizer that was tasty. The waitstaff are friendly and upbeat. All around, this is a place to try. You won't be disappointed. They have a large variety of beer selections and in looking at the expansive bar, it looks like they have a touch of everything to quench your thirst.

Yelp
Great Service, But the Food Has Gone Downhill This used to be one of my favorite spots in town. The pizza was amazing--homemade crust with a perfect texture, flavorful sauce, and quality cheese that really made a difference. You could tell it was made with care. But ever since the new chef took over, the food just isn't the same. The pizza now uses store-bought crust that's dry and bland, the sauce tastes watered down and flavorless, and the cheese is nothing special. It honestly feels like something you'd throw together at home in a rush, not what you'd expect from a place that used to stand out. The fries, which used to be hot and crispy, are now soggy and under-seasoned. They feel like an afterthought. And what really confuses me--they got rid of their smoked wings. Those were incredible. Now they still have other wing options, but for some reason, the smoked wings are off the menu. They were one of the best things they had, and it's a shame to see them gone. On the bright side, the service is still top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and really makes you feel welcome. I give them a lot of credit for keeping the experience pleasant despite the drop in food quality. I really hope the kitchen gets back on track, because the place still has potential--but right now, it's just not what it used to be.

Yelp
Went to see a band and although we danced a ton, the set up is a little odd. Lots of fun but Libertyville is quite a hike.

Yelp
Mickey Finn's in Libertyville is my go-to spot! It's hands down one of the coolest bars in town. The live music adds such a fantastic vibe, especially on weekends. And let's talk about their beer selection - top-notch! I'm all about their seasonal brews, especially the Christmas ones. The tacos and cheese curds are a total game-changer. Seriously, the perfect bites to pair with your drinks. And can we talk about the friendly service? It's like hanging out with pals who just happen to serve amazing food and drinks. Oh, and did I mention it's family-friendly during the day? Yup, you heard it right. Mickey Finn's is the spot for both day and night vibes. if you're looking for a cool place to hang out and get a few good brews, live music, and superior bar bites, Mickey Finn's is where it's at! Cheers to good times!

Yelp
Came here for a lunch date with a couple girlfriends on a Sunday afternoon, we hadn't seen each other in a while and chose Mickey Finn's to eat and catch up. I noticed they were fairly busy, but they got us seated within 10 minutes with no reservation. This was during March Madness so the games were playing and I was nervous about the place being obnoxiously loud, but I was pleasantly surprised by the agreeable volume level. Our server was kind and attentive but not too pushy so when she noticed we weren't ready yet she really allowed us the space to take our time, which I appreciated. We ordered a brisket quesadilla to share and it was tasty, could've used more toppings as it was quite large. I ordered the pesto chicken wrap for my meal and it was great. I love that they have the option to order any of the sandwiches as wraps because I am a big wrap girlie! All-in-all loved the vibe and want to come back in the summer to enjoy the patio and beer (can't drink now because I'm preggo, so you're on my list Mickey!)

Yelp
Great beer nugget calzones. It's a unique garlic crust I'll be ordering again. We also tried the cubano sandwich, also very flavorful.

Yelp
We really enjoy this place - we have had very nice, friendly service both times we have been here thus far and absolutely LOVE their Hefeweizen beer (my husband is not a beer drinker but will drink this beer). Lots of space; we sat at the bar and never felt cramped, etc. We have enjoyed delicious salads and sweet potato fries and enjoy what is shown on their bar TVs (nice variety of sports, etc) - parking is almost impossible in this area, so there is a *free*! garage literally right behind this restaurant and it's a short walk over. Now that my husband is working in the area, we will most definitely be back more often!
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
Returned for lunch over St Patrick's Day weekend and the corned beef, stew and shepherds pie were all delicious! Service was a little slow & our waters were never refilled but it was crowded. Only food con was the cheeseburger lacked cheese. Music was still very loud though especially for the middle of the day on a Sunday.
google avatar

T P.

Yelp
My family had a lovely dinner at Mickey Finn's ( we literally walked across the street after leaving Pizzeria Devilles and having such a horrible experience we left before water was served). The Pretzel App and the Tex Mex Egg Rolls were delicious. We also shared a large cheese pizza which was a crowd pleaser. The music and atmosphere were fun and casual and exactly what my family was looking for. If you are in the area looking for fun, casual, and delicious, this is the right place.

Ryan M.

Yelp
Used to Be Amazing, But It's Just Not the Same My family has been coming to this restaurant for years, and it used to be one of our absolute favorites. The flavors...comfortable and familiar, the portions generous, and the menu had this perfect balance of bar fare and comfort food. Sadly, since the new chef took over, it feels like a completely different place. Many of the old menu items are gone or have been "reimagined." Some of the new dishes sound good on paper, but they just don't deliver. Despite the suggestion the kitchen is using more fresh ingredients, the flavors feel muted. The PIZZA-which used to be our absolute go-to-is now a shadow of its former self: dry, store bought crust, flavorless sauce, boring cheese...simply lacking that balance it once had. The service is still great, and the staff is as friendly as ever, but even they seem aware that something has shifted. I overheard another table talking about how disappointed they were as well. We really want to root for this place because it holds so many good memories for our family, but it's hard to justify coming back when the food no longer matches the price-or the hype it used to have. Here's hoping they can find their footing again.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
Got to check out after work during happy hour Mickey Finn's Brewery. I have to say that I was disappointed. We got the fish and chips all you can eat. Sadly on the menu it doesn't say that the chips you have to pay for after the first set comes out. The food quality was pretty good. The season was okay as well which I liked. The atmosphere was nice I like how sports pub it was like and that they had a stage for singer or bands to perform on. I just was disappointed that the fish and chips were not as it was indicated on the menu. Overall, it would say five MFB a try if you want a different experience.
google avatar

Alec L.

Yelp
Good selection of drinks and beer, nice appetizers, pizza, burgers, wings are great. Live bands on Saturdays. Service is great. Plenty of tvs to watch sports.

Yelp
I feel like I was here once a long time ago. But yesterday serves as my basis for this review. Mickey's is a lively place. It's enormous on the inside, even if you don't notice. We sat in the front with the dine-in crowd. The place was pretty jammed up but somehow we got a table right away. Our hostess was running a marathon trying to wait all of her tables and was very communicative with us. Knowing that time was of the essence, we put our drink and food order in upfront. Mickey's has a great assortment of their own crafts. Seeing this is the season, I couldn't deny myself of an Oktoberfest, which I really enjoyed. (still not sure why I didn't get a second!). For dinner I had the chicken teriyaki bowl which was downright delicious. Now I know why I didn't have a second beer, the teriyaki bowl was enormous and filled me up good and proper. I could easily come here ten times and not have the same food or drink, and probably have the same great experience. Kudo's to a fast moving team here who waits tables, they made the experience even better. Loved the atmosphere, will easily come back several more times. Cheers!

Yelp
I've been to downtown Libertyville an infinite number of times but haven't tried this place until recently. I know it's a popular hangout spot, and I get why. It's a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. I can imagine people love coming here no matter the day of the week, and they always have a deal or special going on! Somehow, it's equally appropriate for bar hopping and a family dinner. The server was friendly but definitely in a rush--got the job done. There is a good amount of menu options, but I came on Sunday so pizza was half off. I went with a small veggie pizza for myself. The pizza was hot and fresh but a little soggy. It definitely tasted better crisped up in the air fryer the next day. But hey, at least I got 2 meals out of it, and my bill was a mere $11.20 including the tip--can't complain!

Yelp
Food was ok, could have been better, the atmosphere was great though had a live band and everything. There was a parking garage behind Mickey's so that was nice!

Yelp
Sad day! Mickey Finn's has changed. And not for the better. We are regulars at Finn's and have dined there almost every Friday night for over 20 years. We've had countless family celebrations there, and recently I even had my retirement party at Finn's. This review is not meant to complain, but merely to inform Brian of our impressions of the recent changes to the menu, in hopes that it is helpful. As usual, we came in on Friday night and even brought some friends with us. Firstly, the service we received was great as usual. And luckily there have been no changes to the beer selections. But unfortunately the menu and the food have been drastically changed for the worst in my opinion. Here is a short list some menu items dropped: * Menu has been cut in half! Only six appetizers now. No fried pickles. No basket of onion rings. No Irish egg rolls. No sliders. * No chicken sandwich on the menu (what?). No more chicken wraps. * No more BBQ chicken pizza. I asked our server about missing items and was told I actually could still order the bbq chicken pizza, it's just not printed on the menu. In fact, I was told there are other items that could be ordered that are off-menu. I asked the server exactly how will customers know and I got a shoulder shrug. Am I now required to read the chef's mind? Is ink really that expensive? This is so confusing to patrons. Probably the worst thing they have done was to change their signature Fish and Chips. It used to be made with their own 847 Wheat Ale and was absolutely WONDERFUL. Not sure if it still is made with the wheat ale or not as there is no mention of the wheat ale beer batter on the menu any longer. While the cod fish itself is still good, the batter is completely different and is more "bready" and "fluffy". It honestly reminds me of Arthur Teacher's or Long John Silver's. It is so sad but they seem to have tried to fix something that was not broken (by the way, the fried pickles and onion rings also use to be made with the same batter). And the tartar sauce now tastes like straight mayonnaise. NO flavor. According to the website, they have hired a new chef. I understand new chefs often feel a need to "make their mark" but changing the signature beer batter was too far. Hopefully they will not let the new chef get anywhere near the beer production. Lastly, they now pass on the credit card merchant fee to their customers and charge 3% if you use a credit card. It is called a "merchant fee" for a reason. I am so sad to say that for us, this may be the end of an era.

Yelp
So good!! Have been coming here for years and they are still serving up great beer brewed in house and great food! Thank you for having plant based options!

Frank R.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to Mickey Finn's restaurant for over 15 years. We always said the fish fry was the best anywhere. That has changed, since getting a new cook they have completely changed the fish they serve. We tried it twice and will not be going for fish there again.. I also ordered a Caesar salad which was very blah, nothing except pale lettuce with a few sprinkles of parmesan cheese on it. There were two pieces of some sort of bread that was so hard I couldn't even bite into it. I hope the rest of the menu is better!
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
The service is ok. The food is so below average. Save your money There are so many better places around Libertyville and Vernon Hills. Won't go back

Susan G.

Yelp
Went to Finn's last night to give it another try. Servers are trying hard to push the weekly specials. Had the patty melt, asked for medium well . It was undercooked and completely flavorless and no grilled onions. Even their pizza has changed and not for the better. I am just disappointed in the overall choices on their menu.

Yelp
Great restaurant and brewery with exceptional beers. I ordered a flight and got Sesh, Moon Rocks, the Hefeweizen, and Patio Vibes. All were locally made and tasted great. The food and service were superb as well. We went on a Thursday evening. The place was busy, but we did not have to wait to be seated at around 6pm. Got the beef sandwich - the bread was delicious as well as the dipping sauce. Nice atmosphere - very spacious and had lots of big screen tvs playing sports. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Yummy cheese curds, wings were dry. Pizza was pretty good especially 50 percent off on sundays. They had a 20 percent check in for lunch. Emma was our server. Great service very accommodating.

Yelp
Good food and nice environment! We stopped here for a spur-of-the-moment late lunch/early dinner on a weekend afternoon, and had no trouble getting a table. Our server, Doug, was excellent -- very attentive and friendly throughout our meal. As a bonus, there was also live music while we were there. I've been to Mickey Finn's before, but not for a few years. It was nice to be back and to have such a nice experience. I'll be back again!

Yelp
I'm just updating my review to tell Jacqueline M that us locals all miss the food, and the old beer batter for the fish is so so so much better than what they have now. I'd like to think I have a pretty good palate and can tell when something tastes bland....

Yelp
Went to Mickey's tonight. Have gone many times over the years. Last visit serving portions were on the small side. Tonight , we were seated and sat for at least 10 minutes with no one acknowledging us. Not even, I'll be with you in a minute. Asked one server dressed in a sweat pants outfit. She stated she would get our waiter. Needless to say, no one came, so we left. Not sure we will be back. Not the Mickey Finns I remember.

Yelp
Use to be soooo much better. Service still good, but in my opinion their food has gone downhill. I keep going back hoping for the good old days, but after this last visit,I am afraid I won't. Menu has shrunk considerably (use to be a front and back - now only a front). Gone are some of my favorites- grilled tuna sandwich and stir fry. Perhaps they weren't the biggest sellers. Too bad because they were very good. Don't bother ordering the once outstanding Micky burger. Pretty tasteless. Prices have also skyrocketed and they now charge a service fee for using a credit card. Maybe they should think of other ways (like getting rid of the American Airlines dinners points) to save money instead of sticking it to dinners. Beer as always great, but that too has gone up in price. I realize that costs have gone up, but I am getting the feeling many places (not just Micky's) are taking advantage. Oh, very loud just in case that matters to you.

Yelp
This has always been the go to place for townies. The beer some is good and some is not so good. Can't have everything. Food is good bar food very consistent. I'm a regular and I hate to say it but the waitstaff is not as good as it used to be. I think they could use a tune up. Bartenders are always friendly and the busboys are hard workers nothing to complain about there.

Yelp
I am so sad that Mickey Finn's changed their menu and so drastically! I was obsessed with the buffalo chicken wrap, my husband liked the Libby cheesesteak sandwich. When i saw the menu changed I called and was told I could still order the buffalo chicken wrap but had to do it as a sandwich and request a wrap instead of a bun. Okay so that's what I did and it was a to go order. Used to be 14 dollars, now $24! 10 dollars more and barely any chicken, didn't have bleu cheese wayyyy down hill for a significant price increase. So sad to say but I will not be returning. I'm not sure why they had to change such a good thing. Every person I ever went there with loved the fact that the menu was so extensive. Food always tasted great and matched my expectations for the price point. Good luck Mickey Finn's!! I'll be trying Timothy O'tooles next.

Yelp
Cool Irish/sports bar in the heart of Libertyville. We were here on a weeknight and it was empty for the most part but I could see this being a nice little hangout. It's definitely set up well for crowds during St. Patrick's day with an ample dining room and spacious bar area. Wide selection of beers and cocktails made for a pleasant visit along with the person behind the bar. She was personable but not too aloof. We basically needed a place to chill after dinner and we needed a change from the hotel lobby/bar.
