Itinerary for a great day in Singapore: Episode 03 - SilverKris

"This popular hole-in-the-wall bakery at Serene Centre is known for excellent sourdough and colourful breakfast plates served on a sunny outdoor patio. Highlights include fluffy scrambled eggs on sourdough toast, a signature ricotta tartine with house-made ricotta and roasted tomatoes, and a grilled cheese crafted from cheddar, mozzarella and brie served with sauerkraut and zesty tomato jam; guests can also add coffee and a cinnamon roll for a heartier meal." - Rachel Eva Lim

Rising above: 8 artisanal bakeries in Singapore to try - SilverKris

"This charming hole-in-the-wall bakery operates from a pocket-sized space and makes its own ricotta and spreads alongside fine sourdough loaves. Crowd favourites include the Nut Butter Toast — which features a rotating selection of nuts ground with sunflower oil — and a decadent Grilled Cheese sandwich layered with melted cheddar, mozzarella and brie de Meaux finished with tangy sauerkraut." - Joyce Chua and Sanjay Surana

Micro Bukit Timah just opened maybe 2 months ago and it has always been packed with people. The pastries are amazing. I think every piece i tried was really good. I especially liked the pumpkin pie which tasted like a cross over between chocolate and something else. I also loved the simplicity of the olive ciabatta. The coffee is what you'd expect from a good quality coffee house but still not at par with the specialty coffee shops. The service is not perfect. They failed to serve the 3 other pastries we ordered. The receipt was already buried down 3 other receipts and they did not even check. Aside from that, it's worth going to.

My wife took away for me today (19 NOVEMBER 2025) a Hazelnut Praline Rye Brownie from Micro Bakery atbSerene Centre. It was very very good. It came with lots of hazelnuts and the texture of the Brownie was most pleasing to me - soft and not chewy unlike the usual brownies, yet it has a nice firmness to it. The bakery at Serene Centre showcased a lot of breads and bakes - both savoury and sweet - and it has a pleasant dining area. Service here, according to my wife, was very good. UPDATE OF 20 NOVEMBER 2025 I tried today a slice of Lemon Chia Yogurt Cake and a slice of Banana Walnut Cake. The former was "light" and "zesty"; the latter was comfortingly familiar.

We had brunch at MICRO recently. The food was generally okay, but we did find the pricing a little higher than expected. We ordered two Big Breakfast sets and were surprised to see them priced at SGD 28 instead of the SGD 22 shown on Google Maps. It would be helpful if the information there could be updated for accuracy. We also had two drinks — the pink one (we unfortunately can’t remember the name) wasn’t to our taste, though the flat white was quite good. Service was average, and the seating felt quite tight; the tables are close together, so it got a bit uncomfortable when people walked past. Overall, it wasn’t the most relaxing brunch experience for us, so we might not return, but we hope they can improve in some of these areas.

I bought a sourdough loaf from here this morning to take home. I cut it open to find that the inside of the loaf was gummy and sticking to our bread knife when we cut through it. I returned to the bakery with said bread to show them and they looked at it and said it's meant to be moist inside. I said what about raw dough? And they held firm stating it's meant to be this way. I'm not a baker so I didn't press further but when I googled if it's meant to be moist inside it said moist but not gummy and this definitely was gummy. I won't be back if this is how their sourdough is. Edit because the bakery replied to this review: It was already cooled down when we sliced it - it wasn't straight out of the oven and steaming. I won't be returning to roll the dice again to cut open a sourdough.

I LOVE their tomato toast but it’s so expensive.. Sandwich was good too. Drinks were decent but nothing special. Had their baked previously and they were good too

After their new place opened at Serene Centre, the ambience has greatly improved. Their bread have been excellent all the time. Cakes are good, too!

Our go-to spot for breakfast since 2021! We’ve been huge supporters of Micro Bakery at Serene Centre, and it’s truly one of those places that consistently delivers. The food is always top-notch, made with quality ingredients and lots of care. One of our absolute favorites is their Mushroom Pâté—it’s rich, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with their freshly baked sourdough. Beyond the food, we’ve always loved the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor seating area has a charming, relaxed vibe that makes it such a lovely place to start the day—whether it’s for a quiet solo breakfast or a catch-up with friends. We’ll definitely miss those al fresco mornings. It’s rare to find a place that feels so consistent and heartfelt over the years, and Micro Bakery has been just that for us. We’re grateful for all the delicious memories and will surely continue to support them.

The grilled cheese is yummy and goes really well with the tomato gravy on the side--a pity the latter was quite a small portion. The ricotta fruit toast is also quite nice. It has a main bakery within Serene Centre and also a few other shop lots within the building. The main dishes are strangely not allowed in the main bakery
