Microclimate is a must-go in Geneva! We were able to walk in 2 people with no reservations, and we sat at the bar. The atmosphere was hip and chill. They had a really cool selection of unique food and drinks - it was hard to choose! I got a glass of local Cab Sauv, and my partner and I split the Spalla, Zucchini Salad, and the Deep Fried Quail. The spalla was like a less fatty prosciutto - not quite as flavorful, but nice texture. The zucchini salad was a really fun blend of flavors - a nice crunchiness from the almonds, a zestyness from the gochujang romanesco sauce, and a savoriness from the Bulgarian feta. The decided favorite though was the deep fried quail, with its perfect outer crust and yummy sauce.

Google
Cool place, unique food. Server gave 95% of her attention to the other 2 parties at the bar- one was a winery owner from Ithaca, the other a sommelier from Ukraine! Don't get me wrong, we thought they were special, too! But when they started offering tastings, we were greatly interested, but sadly ignored. It put a damper on an otherwise fun time.

We had a fantastic meal at Microclimate! All of the ingredients were incredibly fresh and you could tell they were locally sourced. The tomatoes and burrata dish with Vietnamese chimiccuri dressing was so good we almost ordered it again.

Google
This place is by far my favorite place in Geneva for wine and food! Although you may only expect to get drinks, the food is absolutely amazing. All of the dishes had such unique flavors and careful attention to detail. We tried about half of the food menu - oysters, salad, ceviche, squash, and pork belly. You can tell that Anthony & Ellie truly want you to have a personalized experience. The atmosphere was laidback and homey and we met some of the regulars! Get to the Microclimate as soon as you can!

Loved this spot! Staff was amazing, and the food was on point, but the wine list is incredible! A curated list of absolute gems.

Mi husband and I were in NY for some reason one tasting near Seneca lake. We found this bar accidentally. They have a wonderful wine list, delicious food and wonderful ambiance! Don’t skip it if you’re in the area.

Google
Well-curated atmosphere, wine list & cuisine! Owners Ellie & Anthony are always a delight to be around. We look forward to returning to Microclimate time after time. We make sure to keep checking back often as their use of seasonal ingredients keeps the menu fresh! Come early, come late, come often!

Great wine and beer spot. We sat and talked with the bartender and patrons for numerous drinks. Very welcoming and a great place to kick off your downtown Geneva experience.

Yelp
My dude pals and I came here for our "Rosé All Day Bang-a-thon" which is an annual event where we polish off a magnum bottle of rosé once every hour from sunrise (6:00am) until sunset (8:00pm). Here are some pros and cons of this year's event: Pro: The owner was willing to modify the already robust wine list to provide us with the 14 varieties of rosé that the Rosé All Day Bang-a-thon requires. Con: The owner was not willing to accomodate our 6am start time. This is understandable, since I wouldn't want to modify my entire weekend schedule just so four bros can get ridiculously hammered either. She was, however, willing to open the bar two hours early for us. But this still meant we had to hold the opening rose petal ceremony at JMo's house instead of at the bar. Pro: The food menu was diverse and delicious. Since each of us were consuming approximately 35 standard glasses of wine during the course of the day, it was important that we had a nice variety of meals and snacks. Microclimate delivered perfectly. I especially enjoyed the clam sliders and the dodecagon toast. Pro: Friendly staff and patrons. Whether you're in a group, by yourself, or throwing up in the carpark, this is a great place to come and mingle and meet some new buddies. Con: Slogan recently missed a court date and thus has been trying to lay low lately. But, much to our ill luck, by late afternoon Microclimate was hopping! The place was so busy (and we were so loaded) that we didn't notice the district attorney sitting at a nearby table. As a result, Slogan got busted and brought to the county jail, and our remaining three drinkers had to finish the day without a key player. It would have been nice if the bar staff could identify any police officers, DAs, or judges that enter, and then maybe make some sort of secret signal to any outlaws at the bar so they have time to safely sneak out without getting arrested. Con: There are no couches, which means that if one of your friends passes out, you need to lay them down on the floor instead of on a sofa. Con: Historically, the Rosé All Day closing ceremonies wrap up with celebratory Schlitz cocktails, which everyone knows is the perfect way to acknowledge a job well done and are also a crucial Rosé All Day Bang-a-thon tradition. However, J-Mo forgot the cans of Schlitz at home and Ox left the whipped cream in the back of the truck on an 80 degree day. So we were plum out of the necessary ingredients! If I had one recommendation for the owner, it would be that they should keep whipped cream and cans of Schlitz beer behind the bar at all times, in case someone needs a celebratory Schlitz cocktail but forgot one/all of the ingredients. Overall, a five star experience, and we will likely hold next years Bang-a-thon here as well. Cheers to everyone who helped make the event happen!

Yelp
From what I understand they were closed for a bit or seasonal? Check your socials or website for more info. We were in the area for FLX Cursion a few day wine symposium and tastings. So we walked down from where we were staying and to give you an idea it's on the same street w/ FLX Table, Viniculture, FLX Bird and more. It's on a one way street and when we went the street was blocked off. They were having a Wines of Germany Take Over it was part of FLX Cursion and the theme was Prince (yes the legend, artist and singer) they were playing his music and they had a bunch of German Sekt Sparkling we had the Rose it was perfect for the early summer evening weather. The rep who took care of us was hella knowledge and it's a cute spot inside too. It's all a back bar, light woods, tables the normal. I also believe they serve food. You either are able to order from a person or you go up to the bar and order. Trying to pay took a bit due to lots of people at the bar. The menu they have wine wise is extensive and impressive. If your in the area and the weather is nice you should check it out. There is a parking lot down the street and street parking.

Yelp
The food was so so good. Smaller but full flavored dishes. We legit didn't have anything negative to say about anything we ate. The nori bar mix was so so good even our kid devoured it. Loved the cold noodle salad dish it had lots of textures to it. The cucumbers were to die for and the sauce was drinkable we wanted more! It's a cool part of town and cute little quiet street with lots to do around it. Everyone needs to know the food the chef makes is not one to miss. Staff was friendly as well!

Yelp
This is one of our favorite places on Linden Street in historic Geneva. All that I can say is, " Microclimate is a vibe." The combination of eclectic spirits and unique bites make each visit distinctive. The proprietors Elle and Anthony are personable and knowledgeable about what they are bringing to the hospitality industry in this area. The space is intimate and inviting providing room for couples or groups alike. Their flair for bringing novel approaches to the business is just what makes their customers keep coming back.

Yelp
Completely and utterly overwhelmed by the flavor and creativity that inspires this chef to create such wonderful dishes. Honesty with my experience I would have thought I walked into a bar in LA. Nowhere in upstate New York will you indulge in dishes like this gentleman creates. I came into Microclimate for cocktails but I'm so glad I decided to stay for the food. The owners of this establishment made me feel more than welcome. The flavors of the food kept me eating more than I should. The vibes of this small bar make you want to keep coming back. I wish they were open Tuesday's and Wednesday's because this could be an everyday spot! Next time you're in Geneva New York this is a must!!!

Yelp
Really love this bar. The space has a lovely ambience both day and night. They have great drinks and the food is amazing. They've recently started doing brunch and it's just as great as their dinner options.

Yelp
Microclimate has the best of everything. It's a cute little space where you can sit, enjoy a conversation, and you'll never be disappointed. They have a small always changing menu. Their ceviche is absolutely the freshest and most delicious that I've ever had. If you do go and there is a pie on the menu, ALWAYS order it. I love the owners and it's become a staple on the weekends.
google avatar

Monica S.

Yelp
The place is charming and a great location but It's a wine bar and they have only 1 rosé and 4 reds and whites on the btg menu? No wine flights which is what I want out of wine bar. Sad they seem to have more spirits and beer then wines.
google avatar

Mustafa T.

Yelp
It says wine bar but they actually have great spirits, excellent food, and a good selection of beers. You can build your own cocktail which was kind of cool. Owners and staff are nice people.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Easy to miss but don't. Exceptional food. Thoughtful approach to drinks. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Love this place! Participated in a private event wine tasting last weekend (group of 12 people) and was very impressed with the entire operation. Loved the wine flights and found the woman managing the place (Stephanie) to be very knowledgeable and fun. The interior is nicely appointed with weathered wood details, exposed brick, wood flooring, a cool curved bar, and a nice little 'lounge' backroom. There are several options for tasting flights, and you can also buy individual glasses or bottles. Our group was divided in what we wanted to taste, so about half of our group opted for the white wine flight which compared a local finger lakes Riesling with Rieslings from around the world (Germany, France, etc). The others of us either tried Italian reds compared to finger lakes reds of the same grape varietal, or all finger lakes reds. I had the Italian red flight and was very excited to try new wines I had never tasted before, and to be able to see how our local wines (the finger lakes red in my flight was from Red Tail winery) stack up against internationals. Each pour/tasting was 1 ounce, so in total we had 5 ounces, or just about the equivalent of a full glass of wine. I especially appreciated the 'wine notes' that Stephanie provided as we tasted each wine in order, and the wine placemats where you could set your wines, make notes and keep track in case you wanted to order more of any one wine. Couple of notes - hours here are limited, so check the website. On Sunday they do a brunch, which I am definitely going to check out in the future. Parking may be tricky - there is street parking on the little side street, but it seemed full when we were there, even though a lot of the businesses on the street were closed. Linden street is also very cute with lots of other great places to check out, plus lights strung across the entire street - I have the feeling that this is a very festive street once the weather is a bit warmer. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Small, chic and incredibly charming little gem hidden on a side street. Great selection of wines (and some import/microbew beers, too). The staff are fantastic and very knowledgeable. Don't stare at the menu if you're confused, ask and they'll help you find a wine you'll enjoy. The only downside to this great service is if the place is a little full, it can take a little while to place your order.
google avatar

Anita D.

Yelp
We went to the finger lakes for the first time and came to Microclimate. We were helped by Danny, who absolutely rocked. He gave us special tastings since it was my birthday and made several wonderful recommendations for places for us to try in the area. The wine was great and we loved the ambience. We will definitely come back on our next trip!

Yelp
Great wines, knowledgeable staff (JP was awesome), cool vibe. A must if you're visiting Geneva!

Yelp
I have many fond memories of Microclimate from when I was a student, and it's still a top quality bar with great drinks and amazing staff who are willing to go above and beyond! Highly highly highly recommend!

Yelp
We happened upon this wine bar while killing time before our dinner reservation. The woman who served us (I believe she was one of the owners) was incredibly nice and helpful. We had great conversation with her and she helped us pick out wines that we would like. She clearly works very hard to thoughtfully curate her wine list. We all enjoyed our selections and were glad to have spent some time there. Not to mention, they close down the street to cars at 5:00 PM on weekends so that its a pedestrian area only, which seems to be very popular. And their is plenty of public parking in lots just down the street.

Yelp
Meh. Went in during Geneva Night Out. Didn't have the beer I ordered from the menu so the French lady suggested something else....after about 15 minutes of fussing in the basement and arguing with someone in the back she brought me an aluminum can...with a plastic cup. Partner ordered a FLX wine...didn't have it. Had a glass of other wine...in a plastic cup. Better selection, glassware and service at my house. Guess I will stay in and avoid the loud, hipster atmosphere of Linden Street carnival.
google avatar

Sarah E.

Yelp
What a cool place - what a great vibe! We had an excellent night out here, and will be back!
google avatar

Kenneth F.

Yelp
Excellent wine choices. She knew so much information about each wine. We had a white and red sampler. Went around the world twice. We then had a Moscato from France. Clairette de die, Rhone valley France. A clean smell of rose petals, just enough sweetness and then a smooth finish. Love this place.
google avatar

Chantal C.

Yelp
This is an amazing place...great wine selection. Stephanie makes fantastic recommendations. James is the greatest...always makes us a cheese plate whenever we stop by even if it is not fully stocked.
google avatar

Yelp
I LOVE Microclimate so much. It reminds me of the big city, it's like a secret hideaway tucked into Linden St alley. We snagged 4 spots for their Beaujolais Nouveau event last night and went with our friends. It was well attended, the wines were delicious and they use real stemware. The wines were served at the perfect temperature and the variety was interesting. This spot is becoming the best kept secret in Geneva. This is THE spot to have wine before or after dinner at The Red Dove Tavern around the block. I highly recommend Microclimate.

Yelp
We were in Geneva for a wedding and stumbled upon this place by accident. The day of the wedding we decided to walk around the town. We came up on the old Farmers and Merchants bank building on Linden Street and could not help but notice how amazing the space looked. There are large open windows in the front so you can easily look in, and that is just what we did. I can only image what the owner saw (four faces plastered up against the window soaking up the beautiful scene), but she was so nice. She waved us to come inside and we talked to her for at least a half hour, allowing us to look around. The owner is an artist and she did an amazing job fixing this building up, next time you're on Linden St. check it out. Turns out that the owner's son, is one of the owners of Microclimate and she took us over to the place to check it out before they had opened. Again, what an amazing space. The decor is a lot of recycled materials everywhere you look you are in awe of what an incredible job they did with the place. Since we had the wedding that evening, we didn't actually make it back to the bar until very close to closing time, so we were not able to participate in the "wine tastings" they have about 4 or 5 different wine groupings with about 4 or 5 different wines picked out by one of the owners (who is the wine expert). But we did have time for a glass of wine and were able to talk to the owner. She was so nice and as busy as she was and trying to close the bar, she still found the time to talk to us about the different wines and the bar. Next time I am in Geneva, I will definitely go back to Microclimate. Very impressed and a positive addition to Geneva, actually this place would be a positive addition to any city!
google avatar

Nevin P.

Yelp
This place is really cool, ambiance is great and the selection is pretty good. They have a room in the back that could house a fair number of people, but the atmosphere is quiet so it's not exactly the place for a bachelor party. The prices aren't bad for wine, but keep in mind that you're buying wine so overall you could spend a fair bit of money. All and all this place is really cool and if you like nice sit down bars where you can hear yourself think, then this place is a must try.
google avatar

Joseph Q.

Yelp
This place has some potential, although I hope it remains a hidden gem! Microlcimate has a very different atmosphere from other establishments in the area. It seems like it would be more at home in New York City than in Geneva, New York. The first time I came here I was with a large group at night, and although a few of the patrons seemed a little unnerved by our presence, the wait staff was extremely friendly to us. I will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Gloria J.

Yelp
Excellent!!! Place to go for a night out. The atmosphere is incredible and safe. The people are very pleasant. They have almost any type of quality wine your palate may desire. The owners are EXTREMELY nice. I would recommend Microclimate to EVERYONE!
google avatar

Vani K.

Yelp
Great experience and the woman who works there is so so friendly and welcoming. She taught us how to taste and its got such beautiful photos inside for sale! Definitely a great place to stop by for a nice classy night or afternoon.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
I think this place is the coolest! The interior is stunning, I couldn't stop walking around taking pictures of the decor and architectural pieces, so rustic and cozy. Their back room has a lovely seating area, it's the perfect place to come with friends to drink and relax. Their bar is fairly small but again, cozy and their wine list is wildly extensive. I had some of the best wine I've ever had in my life here thanks to the recommendations given to us by the owner, who is such a doll and makes the place worth coming to, in my opinion. She was so friendly, welcoming and offered suggestions for where we should go throughout our stay on Seneca Lake. I had the most unbelievable Malbec from Canada, I forget where exactly, but I never would have ordered a Malbec from Canada if the owner hadn't suggested it. I appreciate trying new things and this is sure the place to do it. If I lived in the area, I would be here weekly no doubt. Come winter, snow falling, sitting in the window at this place with a glass of red and people watching? The best!
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
It's a great addition to Geneva. The star loss really reflects the lack of NY wines...I get this is trying to be above the fray, but considering geography and the burgeoning industry here, it may be a good idea to highlight at least 10 of the better regional ones (I get that a lot of them are like cough syrup or crank case oil..but there are quite a few worthy of this place). I like the subtle location...you really have to keep your eyes open to find it.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I had been meaning to visit for quite a while when we made reservations at FLX Table and decided to come here afterwards. The ambiance is cool & comfortable. The owner was nice & friendly. We sat at the bar and she was fun to speak with. We started with a glass of sparkling and then tried a couple rosés. The flights seemed super well designed and delicious. She also toasted our FLX Table marshmallows absolutely perfectly. We will definitely visit again.
google avatar

Yelp
Charming and full of wonderful wines and beers. A friendly staff that is awesome at making suggestions. Carries a nice selection of local wines.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
I found this place on Yelp after searching for somewhere that served wine that was open later. Stephanie is very friendly and knowledgeable of all of the wines in her establishment and everything was delicious. I ordered the riesling flight and my boyfriend ordered the red wine flight, which we both enjoyed. It is a tad pricey but the wines are well worth it and very delicious. Great atmosphere as well!
google avatar

Martin B.

Yelp
Microclimate offers a first class wine experience. Steph, one of the owners, is extremely talented with her wine knowledge, she can suggest the perfect wine for your liking. Definitely a spot to check out if you're a wine fanatic driving thru Geneva. Also, try their Sunday brunch with Cebo
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
Awesome little place! The owner, Steph, is great to talk to and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Every time we're in Geneva we make it a point to stop in at Microclimate. The bar itself is warm and cozy and Stephanie is a wonderful hostess always ready with a variety of suggestions and options. I've never had a wine I didn't love. I can't wait to return.

Nina D.

Yelp
Even better than the very impressive wine list was everything else about this place - the friendly bartender - super lovely to chat w/ - who gave recs on the region and personalized wine recommendations; the board games in the back room; the cozy lighting, Shakey Graves inspired playlist, and friendly ambiance. We were so happy we stopped into this gem on the street!!!! Made our Friday night.

Yelp
This was a great, unexpected find after dinner. Stephanie is passionate about her business and the revitalization of downtown Geneva.

Yelp
Microclimate [a wine bar] is one of the top five wine bars I've ever visited. Partners Stephanie Mira de Orduna and James-Emery Elkin have created a truly incomparable experience where Finger Lakes and international wines and foods come together in harmony. The bar offers wine flights, wines by the glass or bottle, craft beers, fruit lambics, hard cider, and local and international appetizers. My friend and I arrived just as the bar opened. We opted to try a flight of five sparkling rosés, including a couple from the Finger Lakes, Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars and Hands and Heart (both made from Pinot Noir), combined with a Rosato from Spain, an Argentinian rosé made from Malbec, and a Gesellman Blaufränkisch Rosé Brut from Austria. We didn't take notes, but simply enjoyed each other's company while tasting this fascinating Finger Lakes-international lineup of rosés. My friend and I decided to pair the flight with an antipasto platter, again a blend of local and international bread, cheeses, charcuterie, Marcona almonds, and olives. We couldn't have asked for a better accompaniment. In fact, my friend stopped nibbling and I felt a tad guilty when she told me to finish up the remainder, as it was so scrumptious. Even after a long day of wine tasting in the Finger Lakes, please don't return to your hotel just yet. Continue to Geneva, New York to this delicious, intriguing, and unique establishment. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Love this place, just wish it was closer to Rochester. It's really the perfect little wine bar planted quaintly on a side street in Geneva. Picturesque, private, trendy and fun. In fact, Geneva is just a lovely town to visit in general, wine tour notwithstanding. Outstanding wine selections and staff are more than willing to help you find something you'll enjoy. And although there is definitely a good selection of finger lakes wines, there are so many international ones too. Microclimate feels like a global breath of fresh air and seems far more forward-thinking than many wine bars in larger cities: they have an interesting concept of pairing a finger lakes wine with one from somewhere else in the world and allowing you to compare and contrast. Creative, open-minded and fun. A beautiful place to which I wish I lived closer...

Lyndsey G.

Yelp
Moved to Geneva about a year ago. My fiancé was working out of town, so I had some time to look for interesting places near our apartment. This place popped up. The next time he was home I told him we should try it, as we both love wine. The first time there we met James and were there most of the night. We had a lot of fun that night. Later we came back and Steph was working. Both have given us great experiences and enjoy the company. We have become frequents, and enjoy the company of many who wonder in. Prices are not bad, can spend a great deal quickly if your not paying attention though. Steph is always good for a recommendation.

Yelp
Awesome spot. Great beer and wine selection. Atmosphere is very romantic. Owners are awesome. And will do anything to make your visit awesome. A great bar in the heart of wine country.

Yelp
Microclimate [a wine bar] was one of the major highlights of Charley and I's trip to Geneva, NY. James-Emery Elkin and Stephanie Mira de Orduna were nothing less than the perfect owners for this new business. The space is very intimate and easy to move around. Unlike many places where you have to trip over every table and chair in the room just to move around, they did a nice job using the space they have to work with on 38 Linden. My girlfriend and I are by no means expert wine drinkers but we do like to use some discrimination concerning wine. It was very obvious from the start that Stephanie is very well versed in wine and has a solid background in the industry. What's best though is that she is able to take that knowledge and share it in a very nice and friendly way. Her business partner James was incredibly welcoming as well and made the entire time there fun and relaxed. These two really have the dynamic to take this place and build a great wine bar destination in Geneva. If ever I am in Geneva again I will make sure to carve out some time to stop in and see these two while enjoying the product and experience they bring to the table. What was great as well was that when asked where else in town my date and I could stop for food or drinks, Stephanie was quick to give recommendations and show her support of other small businesses in town. All her picks turned out wonderful! (Dallywaters, Leaf Kitchen, and Red Dove Tavern.)

Yelp
Everything to review about Microclimate is awesome - truly the best. Amazing selection of wines, that always include recommendations about the Finger Lakes Region's best wines. And go a few times, ask nicely and you just might get t try the latest special treasure they procured and have in small batches. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and huge boosters of the region - the wine, cultural activities, food, etc. And the atmosphere is cool, with the chance to meet and talk to interesting people. Don't walk, run to this special gem in Geneva that is working to redefine the city's culture - all while serving great drinks and wine knowledge in an accessible way!

Hannah G.

Yelp
The owner always stocks and recommends the most outstanding wines. Great atmosphere also!
google avatar

Luke B.

Yelp
Great wine selection. Great atmosphere. James and Stephanie are the consummate hosts. They hosted my wedding party and folks walked away wanting more. If you're in the area stop by and give it a try.

Mike S.

Yelp
Stopped in two nights while on Vacation this Memorial Day Weekend. Very cool feel and a good selection of local and global wines. Relaxed in the lounge area and talked with the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Back again tonight and great wine and service as usual
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
A great place to spend an evening! The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and James and Stephanie have a wealth of knowledge on both international and local wines. James is also very involved in the community and can easily point you towards events or locations that will tickle your fancy, that or a little Geneva history lesson. Microclimate is definitely at the front edge of a downtown-Geneva evolution. Don't miss it!

Yelp
If you are looking for a trendy spot that has great service, an amazing ambiance and outstanding wine selection then look no further. One might think that to find a place like this it would have to be in a large city, that is not the case, the small town of Geneva is the home of the chic wine bar. What makes this place even better is the owner James. He is so knowledgeable and spent time going over each of wines in the flights we ordered. I have never met an owner of an establishment that was as passionate about what they were doing as James. He is inspiring and I highly recommend a visit here when you are in Geneva, you will not be disappointed.
