Probably my favorite place in Portland :) Such a hidden gem, amazing pizza tucked away in the back of the store. This is what I’m talking about when it comes to a more Sicilian style crust: except the dough is one of the airiest, lightest, fluffiest—and the tomato flavor one of the freshest—I’ve had in the East Coast. Get the pepperoni. 5 stars. Also they have some pretty spectacular local made gelato in the frozen section. And some super awesome snacks & Italian pantry items, wine, ‘nduja…the list goes on.

Micucci is an authentic Italian grocery with a wide selection of wine, olive oil, and other Italian delicacies. They also happen to serve up some of the best Sicilian pizza by the slice I've ever experienced. The Sicilian pizza is incredibly fluffy with a light, airy dough. The sauce is delicious and sweet, plus it's applied at the perfect sauce-to-cheese ratio. The oregano and spices sprinkled on top of the perfectly melted cheese complete the perfect Sicilian package. One thing is clear to me: Micucci doesn't cut any corners with their delicious squares.

This grocery store specialize in Italian product. They also have fresh Italian pizza and also dessert. I am not a fan of their sfogliatella to be honest, it's my first sfogliatella ever so maybe that's why. I just don't think the light lemony ricotta filling goes well with the generous cinnamon powder on top. But next will try their canoli and I'll tell you how it goes.

My mom absolutely loves Micucci's pizza. I have been to Italy when I was in the Navy and saw the things they would put on their pizza. It is not at all like the things we put on pizza here in the States. Things like whole fried eggs, sunny side up, or alfalfa. My mom went on a group trip there, and someone in her group ordered a sausage pizza. What he got was a pizza with vienna sausage on it. Anyway, I finally asked my mom to get me one, and I was not disappointed. I am willing to say it is the best pizza I have ever had and the best around. The crust is soft and tasty. The bread and sauce I feel are authentic Italian. As for the cheese and pepperoni, I am not sure, but it tasted great. Micucci's pizza will not disappoint you. The slices are about the size of a 10" pizza, and the prices are $8 for cheese and $9 for pepperoni. It is worth the price to me and definitely will fill you up. Oh yeah, and any left overs is even better the next day, eaten hot or cold. I prefer cold.

So happy a piece of Portland's Italian neighborhood is still here! Great people, great product, great service! Gentrification be damned! Keep up the amazing reputation you have maintained for so many generations! The place to go for an authentic Italian market in Portland! Il meglio!

Google
Great variety of Italian delicacies. Good selection of hard to find Sicilian wines. The fresh breads, cut cheeses, and meats are all very good. They offer a terrific Sicilian pizza in the rear to either eat in or take away. Worth a visit when in Portland.

Google
I'm sitting here enjoying some great Cannoli Cookies I got at Miscucci's. What a store. I have never seen such a well stocked Italian grocery. I'm sure they have every product Cento makes and I have never seen large 5 pound bags of De Cecco pastas like they have here. The store is much bigger than it appears from the outside and it is very clean and well organized. The many employees are constantly working, restocking and taking care of the many customers. All in all, I just can't say enough about this great grocery.

An absolute staple to of the community. A fine selection of quality products with a knowledgable staff to help you find what you need and more. Nick in the deli has been especially helpful and has assisted with educating and expanding my understanding ingredients. The entire staff is always a joy to encounter, I feel very fortunate to be able to visit a most exquisite establishment daily.

Yelp
Add this spot to your "things to do in Portland". My wife and I went before a ferry ride to the islands to pick up a Sicilian Slab, some olives, and taralli. This place is legit! They even carry Kimbo coffee, my favorite (straight out of Napoli)! Our tour of the islands in Casco bay was made so wonderful thanks to the pizza and snacks! This was the best Sicilian style pizza I've had outside of Italy!

Yelp
Get the slab of pizza!! Walk to the very back corner and discover homemade pepperoni or cheese pizza SLABS. They start selling at 11 am until sold out. Secret local delight. It has an amazing cheese shop too!

Yelp
Just like everyone else. I'm just a sheep. Everything is good. This place is amazing. One of us. One of us. Very friendly peeps. Lots of products. Feel fancy. They have guanciale. Channel your inner Gennaro Contaldo. Do Mainers even know what giardiniera is? Someone needs to open up an Italian beef stand.

Yelp
Love them!!! I'm not sure where to begin?!! Their pizza is exquisite! So, too, is the grocery! Especially there sales and dealios on pasta, etc Always, always shop here for your truest Italian items!!

Yelp
I'd heard others rave about Micucci's pizza when I lived in Portland but crazily never made it until now. I grabbed a cheese slice on a rainy Saturday and wish I had grabbed 2 or 3. The pizza dough is so incredibly fluffy and I love the sauce that they use. The market itself is cute too and perfect for grabbing your grocery needs. Unfortunately it's not the season for Panettone but I'd be interested to see if they carry this around the holidays.

Yelp
This pizza is very good, its not for everyone, its big, bready, bold and delicious, naturally when a Pizza steps into its own realm, not everyone will love it, if you want thin and crispy and nothing else then you wont like it, but if you like pizza of all different styles then whats not to Love. It sells out quick At lunch, so that should be a testament to the love of this place. 5 out of 5 stars

Yelp
Wandered over while waiting on pir table at DuckFat. Fell upon the best Sicilian pizza for our evening cruise.

Yelp
Great little store with all you need to make an authentic Italian dinner. The hidden gem is that you can get a "slab" of delicious pizza in the back!

Yelp
The hype is real!! Today I happened to get to Micucci right around noon--and the line for the 12:15pm pizza drop was already forming. So I decided today was the day. While I waited I sampled some things from a new line of Sicilian products, Bona Furtuna (lovely biscotti, plus pasta, tapenades, sauce, and much more). Then the pizza came hot out of the oven, and I got my "slice" of pepperoni--mind you, a slice could easily feed 2 or 3! It's easy to see why this is such a favorite: tangy tomato sauce and cheese and pepperoni and a yummy, pillowy thick crust. (I'm normally a thin-crust pizza gal, but I'm happy to make an exception for this.) There's a reason people line up for this and why they sell out--so get there as soon as you can after 11am and get yours!

Yelp
Great Italian market. Made a special trip here while on vacation and it was worth it. Great wine selection and some really nice wines on sale. Bought a cannoli and some cheese. Haven't tried them yet but I'm sure they will be delicious. The owner was so kind to reimburse us for parking. We were told we had to pay and when he heard this he was so nice about the fact customers don't pay and cheerfully refunded us the $10!

Yelp
We LOVE visiting this unassuming market every time we are in Portland. We have been coming here for so many years with our family for their fantastic thick pizza hidden in the back. Head to the back of the market to find the boxes of freshly made pizza - grab-n-go. It is beyond fabulous down to the dough, homemade sauce, garlic, and crust. You will never be disappointed. It's a hidden gem we stumbled upon long ago and always stop in when in town. Enjoy.

Yelp
I love Micucci's for all things Italian and the fact that they have a parking lot. They do a great job of curating the best selection of pasta, wine, cheese and ingredients to make all things Italian at home. I typically purchase 10lb bags of 00 flour to make Neapolitan pizza dough to cook in the Ooni. Unfortunately they've been out of stock the last 3x I've stopped by. I end up purchasing 5 2.2lb bags for marginally more money. Don't forget your reusable bags, but if you buy more than expected, like I do, they will let you bring the basket out to your car to unload as long as you bring it back. That's good service! I have never purchased anything from the meat/cheese counter but I'd imagine I'd definitely blow the budget. There is always a lot of people waiting around the counter so I get intimidated and say "next time". Someday soon I will load up on high quality pizza toppings. I can't forget the amazing European holiday chocolates and other desserts they sell, that you can't find anywhere else. Much cheaper than flying across the pond to a European Christmas market and way better than ordering online. Needless to say, I will be back and you should go!

Yelp
if you'd love Italian food, and you love to cook, this is the place for you. They have every imaginable, Italian canned good that you could want, fresh cheeses that are out of this world, spices, and condiments and a very good Italian wine selection.

Yelp
Great variety of specialty foods and a friendly staff made this a fun shopping experience.

Yelp
Best kept secret in Portland. Micucci Grocery is an awesome little Italian grocery store with tons of specialty items and treats. This being said, take my word and head to the back counter alllll the way in the back of the shop for the best slab of pizza you'll ever have. Be warned - there's often a line around lunch time and you have to hit it just right, but if you're willing to wait you WILL be rewarded! The slabs are HUGE and are so incredibly cheesy. They're truly what dreams are made of. My husband and I were eating ours on a bench across the street and were stopped by many people begging to know where we got them from. Go be the envy of town - grab a slab, and flaunt it around Old Port. We can't wait to come back on our next trip to Portland!

Yelp
Amazing pizza, fresh desserts, local bread, imported cheeses, wine and more wine, huge canned San Marzano tomatoes. Great prices, too!

Yelp
The first thing that hits you is the glorious aroma of aging Italian coldcuts, and it's something you'll look forward to almost as much as the Sicilian slabs of pizza that make anybody else's not even worth trying. Similar dough feel to focaccia, and much more flexible. Slightly pungent and very slightly sweet sauce, and lots of melty cheese, but never forget that the dough/crust is the star. And don't let the thickness fool you; it's as light as a cloud. The pepperoni itself is thin and at first assessment nothing special, but that's part of the master plan: it's there to add a bit of flavor, making the pizza better (and it does), without trying to hog the spotlight. You already forgot? Never forget that the dough/crust is the star of what is a most impressive ensemble. The pizza here is one of the few legends that not only lives up to the hype but also exceeds my already-high expectations on each visit.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Best Italian Grocery Store in Maine. Cheese and cold cuts to order. If you're lucky to score the small round flat breads, you'll never taste anything like them.
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
I came here for the Sicilian pizza. The pizzas are towards to back and up the stairs around the corner. There were only cheese left. (Looks like pepperoni is also available). Others were grabbing 2 to 3 slices each and I knew I had to act fast. They were sold out by the time I left with my one slice. They do have nice selection of cheeses, meats and wine in addition to various grocery items. They have nice looking treats from NY. We were just passing through Portland and therefore we did not get anything else. Now onto the pizza! The pizza is better than imagined. The crust is light and fluffy and I love the hint of sea salt. The sauce is slightly sweet from the tomato and the melty cheese spilling over the edge. Each bite is better than the next. And it is a huge slice to share. I understand why others were buying them in bulk! I would come back just for another slice!
google avatar

Yelp
What an absolute treat! Being from Washington state, we have nothing that's truly authentic Italian. Grabbed a piece of the wedge pizza, to die for....And Italian candies and spices for gifts. I could have roamed much longer but had pizza to eat!!
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
An absolute must for slab pizza at lunch time. While both are amazing I think micucci slab pizza slightly beats out "Slab" Portland.
google avatar

S. L.

Yelp
Best pizza anywhere. I dream about it. Generally my wife and I avoid gluten, but I toss that out the window anytime I'm near Micucci's. Have been eating their pizza for years and will continue to do so as long as they are open. Prefer over Slab. Great prices on wines, olives, balsamic vinegars and spices etc.

Katrina M.

Yelp
This market has all your Italian fixes. There is a lot to choose from when needing to make a classic dinner or just to have something in your pantry for later. We frequent here often and also have picked up some tiramisu. It was amazing! Chef's kiss. Please go to this market and check it out.

Yelp
We had some toile to visit downtown Portland then wanted a quick lunch before going on a tour with NCL Cruise. Other restaurants had a wait for lunch. I found this on Yelp and it was PERFECT! Pizzas already made to grab and go. Pizza for 2 under $9 and two drinks, two chips for later...$15.10! Best yet the pizza was tasty from an Italian food store. Great choice with picnic benches across the street.

Yelp
First, I apologize for not having photos. I did not intend on reviewing this business. My wife and I were in Portland for a "tourist day" ... we had already had breakfast and we're making a quick stop for some Ines Rosales cookies. This is the ONLY place within 200 miles where you can get the cinnamon flavor which is amazing with coffee. But I digress. We grabbed some phenomenal pasta and heading towards the door when I decided to grab a pepperoni "slab". I just wanted to say I had tried it since I normally do not like the thicker Sicilian type pie. We sat on a bench across the street and I had just a couple bites .... BLOWN AWAY! I still do not know why, but I loved this pizza. To make a long story short, we took about 3/4 of the slab home and warmed it in our pizza oven. It was even better slightly crispy. The sauce is bold and bright. The cheese is top quality. The star ... as with almost all great pizza, was the crust. Be open and try new things ... even when you are hesitant. There is a good reason so many people love this place. I will add pics on my next trip if I can muster up some will power.

Yelp
If it's Italian, it's right here!! Fresh sliced cold cuts, pasta dishes to take home or stop in for a slice of Sicilian Pizza. All of it taste fresh and there is a small spot to eat your slice if you like. When I am in the area, I have to stop in. There is a huge wine selection along with everything Italian, stop in you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Nice to have them here Great opportunity to hard to get items

Yelp
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh boy. I know I start many of my reviews with how places smell, and that's probably bizarre, but what can I say, I'm a b**** for sniffs. Micucci's smells like absolute HEAVEN. Sauces, spices, bakery, fresh sandwiches - it is an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT. Whenever I come in here, it's like I'm not in Portland anymore, I'm in an abyss called Micucci's that is unmatched. - They have a small private lot, and there is street parking available. Nice! - Their Sicilian slabs are obviously the star of the show. Gooey, warm, cheesy, gigantic - you cannot go wrong. Reasonably priced - get one to go, or get one to sit down in the little spot by the bakery where there's a small area to relax. - Grocery options are vast! Every Italian spice you could imagine, they have. Wines, beans, you name it. - Sandwich bar! Fresh sandwiches, large menu, quick service. - Bakery. The shining star for me. I ordered a dozen cannolis for a birthday recently (ahead of time - helps), and they were so beautifully packaged I didn't want to eat them. They were delicious and an absolute hit. - Service is fabulous. This is genuine, Maine service that is happy to help you. I can't say enough good things. This is an absolute gem of the East End and of all of Portland. Grab nine hundred slabs and one thousand cannolis and hibernate with them as you dream of this place.

Yelp
Awesome store with lots of specialty items. Friendly and knowledgeable and the pizza is great

Yelp
Our family has been trying to visit all of the hidden gems of the city and let me tell you, this is one! A wonderful hidden treasure full of deliciousness! We all enjoyed Sicilian slab pizza slices at a great prices $5.99 per slice and the slices were huge. The dough was remarkable, fluffy and flavorful! We also indulged in the selection of fresh baked deserts. Cannolis all around!! The staff was also extremely helpful and kind! The self serve pizza was a bit confusing at first but we figured it out. You go in pick your food and pay at the front counter. We are first because we were unsure and then paid after, I think we were probably supposed to do it the other way around, but they didn't seem to mind when we showed up to pay for our already consumed snacks! UPDATE: They are open and the pizza is still delicious!

Dale P.

Yelp
Best place for fresh Italian food and cold cut. Cheeses, wine and imported goods and don't forget the Pizza. I could go on and on
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely little Italian market and deli. I love these stores! We were staying in the area so we bought some Italian crackers, bruschetta, chocolate and such for the house. Lovely all of it!
google avatar

Lawrence N.

Yelp
This is not a pizza place but come in and grab a slab, I mean slice. It is definitely not thin crust, the tomato pie is big and if you love tomatoes the best thing you'll eat in Portland. You can sit outside, weather permitting and enjoy your pizza on the outside counter.
google avatar

Musky O.

Yelp
Love this place. The staff will make you feel like your part of the family, even if you are a tourist lol. Thx y'all
google avatar

Yelp
You gotta get over here and try a Sicilian Slab. I have 150 pizza reviews on the Barstool app. I got reviews from Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and now Maine, and this right here....this is something different, and special.

Yelp
Disappointed today that most of the prepared hot sandwiches were almost gone. Two left so we scooped them up we also bought a loaf of sliced Tuscan bread. Great breads, great everything. The best Muffaletta subs are here at Micucci's from Mon- Fri The best Sausage sub my friend ever had. Next week I'm back to try a sausage & meatball sub. Love Love Love Micucci's, a great Italian market. If you've never been get there fast & experience the best Well I'm back- I had the meatball sub today. Well actually I split it with my wife. Have to admit it was awesome. I brought it home added pecorino Romano & chili flakes & in the toaster oven for 12 minutes @ 300* F Next visit Sausage sub. By the way I bought Greek olive oil, not cheap but some of the best I've ever had. ( white bottle) worth every penny. I might as well continue their tall aged balsamic is syrup & exceptional $40.00 give or take. Thanks Micucci's- everything is eccezionale.

Yelp
You just can't get any better than this spot. They know you on your second visit until forever. ;) I don't have enough words to tell you how nice it is to be able to go right in, get what you want and leave with a smile, every single time.

Lisa E.

Yelp
I could not love this place more. Authentic Italian market. I love eavesdropping on the ladies who work there. They're funny & sweet. Store is a gem full of Italian treats whether beautiful wines or stuffed cherry peppers or pretty little candies, there is something for everyone. Has a cozy family vibe like walking into a different era.
google avatar

Sandra B.

Yelp
I love this place: best cold cuts, always sliced perfectly thin, great pizza always ready at 11am for take out, pastries from the NE of Boston are always a good selection, italian pasta selections huge as is the jar pasta/pizza sauces. I make my own sauce but when I'm in portland I always grab a couple jars of Micucci Classic Marinara sauce, it is the closest to my sauce and the only one that has 4-5 ingredients only and includes sugar ( I like my sauce a little sweet). Wine selection is very good. Frozen ravioli's are large and really good with that jar of sauce! Staff is always very friendly.

Yelp
Do you know how some places try too hard and try to appear authentic when they're really not? Well that's not Micucci's Grocery Store. Nope. This place is 100% legit. It's got the history. It's got the family (Micucci family). And it has the goods. Italian goods, that is. This little Italian import store could easily have been lifted from the streets of New Haven (where I live) or the streets of New York City (where I used to live). It is the real deal. They have a deli section, shelf's of Italian goodies, and a pizza/bakery section in the rear of the building. Now I had heard good things about their "slab" pizza but this pizza snob from New Haven walked inside being very skeptical. But after one bite I immediately became a believer. It really really is good. I don't usually like square Sicilian type pizza (some NY'ers refer to it as grandma's pizza) because lots of places get it so wrong. But fortunately Micucci's gets it sooo right! While the square slice is huge it's not heavy at all. It's crust is actually light and buttery. Yes buttery. And the sauce and cheese gets a big thumbs up too! It's been a couple months since my visit, and I can't get the sight and taste of that one "slab" out of my mind. I need another one. Stat. High carb count and useless calories be damned. I wonder if they deliver to Connecticut. By the way, their downtown location was very convenient to this out-of-state tourist. They're located at the edge of the Old Port section and within a stone's throw of two popular restaurants; Eventide and Duckfat. Plus, Two Fat Cats bakery is two doors away as well. Come to think of it, this little section of Portland might be a foodie's paradise.

Yelp
Excellent and unique pizza by the slab. Not to be missed. Crust is so unique and light and airy and the sauce and cheese are top top top notch. Find this at the counter way in the back. Be warned the lines are long at peak lunch hour.
google avatar

Alison M.

Yelp
Great place to find all of your ingredients for Italian cooking. Front area has pastas, sauces, condiments and deli counter for the variety of meats and cheeses. Back section has premise salads and frozen items as well as a counter for sub sandwiches and their "slab" pizza. This is NOT to be confused with Sicilian pizza and is WAY too expensive for the item. $7.50 for one piece and best description is bread with some sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. Will be back for all things Italian!
google avatar

Efraim S.

Yelp
Beware the pizza slices are huge. Im talking diner drive in tv show insanely large huge. Easily can split one for lunch with a friend. But who eats pizza to be healthy. Enjoy your own terrific slice and take some time perusing the impressively large selection of Italian wine and other imported goods.
google avatar

Claudia D.

Yelp
Reminds me of the good old days when I lived in Boston and shopped in the North End for Italian groceries. Micuccis has a ton of great selections packed into a relatively small store. They have parking. And they have a great wine buyer who regularly brings in very nice wine at very reasonable prices.
google avatar

Erica J.

Yelp
Before moving to the Carolinas from the Northeast (CT), I never knew of bad pizza, but trust me, it exists. Slightly confusing when you go in but follow the smell, literally. The pizza here is AMAZING, its fluffy, the flavor is amazing, the right amount of sauce to cheese ratio. I wanted to cry it was so darn good!!! The store itself has great quality deli items, fresh breads, and frozen premade items for a great meal at home. Not to mention a great wine selection. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I even called to thank them after because I was that impressed by my overall experience. Micucci's, please open a shop in Charlotte, NC - you will not regret it! Cheers~

Yelp
Since I've now been coming to Micucci's for so many years, and my love for them has evolved from the pizza to so much more, I thought it was time for an update! Micucci's is a family-owned store offering imported Italian foods. Whether you're looking for authentic panettone during the holidays (or any variety of pasta, sauce, or olive oil you could dream of), an impressive wine selection (the folks here introduced me to and turned me on to Valpolicella - thanks for that!), great deli items (on the silver rack to the left of the deli section is some cheese ends and small cheese nubs on sale for cheap, so definitely check that out), or dangerously delicious desserts (like the monterosa [mascarpone and ricotta cheese, sponge cake, strawberries] or the triple chocolate cake pops - I don't know that they make them here, but they're still the best cake pops I've had anywhere!) you won't go wrong coming here. And let's not forget the 'za. I still think they have some of the best pizza in the world. Their Sicilian slice is mouth-watering (it also tastes delicious piping hot, room temperature, or cold - sure the textures and flavors change a bit, but it just holds up regardless). Think college textbook sized squares of fluffy dough smeared with a spiced tomato sauce, topped with gooey, tangy cheese and dusted with herbs. And at $5 a square, the price can't be beat. Wanna know a secret? Monday's are usually BOGO with their slices, too. Where else can you get a gut-busting dinner for $10 in Portland? Happy sigh.

Ron Y.

Yelp
Great pasta, sauces and slab pie! It gets crowded at lunch time so be aware. We always visit when in town. Love Micucci's!
