Probably the best smash burger in Oregon! Perfectly greasy, amazing lacy edges cooked to perfection - if you're after a proper smash, this is absolutely the place to go. Staff is always friendly, prices are great, as a burger lover I can't recommend this place enough.

Had fries so salty it gave me a pounding headache the rest of the night, definitely brought the MID to Midcity. Also the guy cooking looked like he had scabies, and was upset when I told him the fries were inedible. Definitely NOT bringing my gut here again, not a good place if you want a full belly… Only good thing I can say is that the guy at the register gave me new fries that ended up still being mediocre and wet. GOODTHING there’s a burgerville right next door in case you were as unimpressed as I was.

I actually love this place so much. They have the best smash burgers 🍔 I've ever tried, Their sauce is SO delicious as well. I stop in every time I am in the Portland metro area. I wish they'd open one up at the Oregon coast. Above 5 stars !🌟

Absolutely horrible experience from beginning to end. I had been looking forward to trying this place for quite a while. What a letdown! I paid $13 for a burger that was cooked badly and thrown together even worse, plus fries that were mostly mushy and pale. I love smash burgers, I love fries, especially crinkly ones like they had, and I can be pretty understanding that not all food is going to come out stellar every time, but this was just bad. It wasn’t even piled well and I had to essentially remake it myself. A bunch of the burger was hanging off one side leaving the other side with nothing but bun and lettuce. The bun was cold and smashed and felt slightly stale, like when you leave it out uncovered for too long and it has that gross outer hardness. The cheese, the small amount there was, only covered one side of the burger. And the bacon was possibly the saddest part of the whole mess. First, I didn’t realize it was possible to cut bacon this thin, I have pieces of paper thicker than this bacon. It was also 80% fat. Putting this razor thin piece of undercooked fat on my burger and calling it bacon is just insulting. To top it off the guy working was terrible. He took his time wandering over to take my order then seemed to get pissy when I only tipped $1. I might have tipped more if I hadn’t been left standing for so long or if he was in any way friendly, but food quality shouldn’t be based on that anyway (one reason I hate tipping ahead of receiving the actual service and food). There weren’t other customers there, he wasn’t working on cooking another order, he just took his sweet time. When my order was ready (which was after a couple who ordered behind me) he kinda shoved it out the window toward me and mumbled “ready”. I spent many years in service industry and will overtip easily, but I’ll also call out horrible service when it happens. And this was horrible service. So I’m sad to say the smash burger I’d looked forward to trying for so long was not just a letdown, it was downright bad. In sooo many ways. Did I mention my fries had a big hole in the bag? So the few that weren’t mushy fell out as soon as I took them out. Guess it’s just another food cart living off undeserved hype.

This place totally lived up to expectations. Fried were ok but smash burgers were amazing! They have outdoor seating with heaters. You can sit inside the beer place too but minors can't.

Mid City Smash Burger always hits the spot. The food is phenomenal, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the vibes are always great. The specials are always legit too. Don’t pass up the nuggs, trust me. Superb experience every time!

I ate there yesterday with my wife, and it was a PERFECT date night! The man who took our orders, I believe his name was Ian, was super accommodating and let me know about the menu and what he could do for my celiacs disordered wife. It was insanely busy, yet he took the time to explain it to me whilst taking my order and delivering the burger super fast. The burger was also delicious! Will definitely be coming again! Smashy 4 life!

I went because I read that this place won top 10 burgers in the US. I admit I was skeptical, especially when I saw the tiny building. But I was wrong, so very wrong. This is one of the best burgers I've had in my life. I can't even explain WHY it's so good: is it the lace thin crispy burger patties? The flavorful bacon? The well balanced sauce? Or is it just that every element is the best and comes together to make something close to perfect. Even the $4 crinkle fries were surprisingly top-notch in spite of its simplicity. This is now my new favorite burger place. I only wish that it was closer to where I live so I could go more often. I also love the little lollipops he gives out 😁

Hands down BEST smash burger in Portland, I mean the Best, truly. The burgers are delicious, they have vegan options. The crinkle fries are so good and offer more surface area for dipping in their delicious sauces. The Service the great and friendly. If there is a wait, know that it is worth it.

Never open on Scholls ferry. Someday maybe they will actually start acting like a business. Closed due to heat? Come on that's horse crap!

It's nice that this location is 5 mins from our new house. We got the Jr. Smashy, Smashy, & reg fries with a side of cheese sauce. The fries and cheese sauce were great! I'm glad I gave this location a try because I tried the other location and it wasn't my fave. But the fries today, from this location were so yummy and the cheese sauce made me very happy. :) Next time I think I'll try the Deluxe Boi. It's nice that this location is next to a Bar. Parking is a bit scarce but that's no fault of MCSB. Great idea to be next to a bar because that's a lot of visibility!

Food cart situated away from busy roads and next to uptown brewery in scholls. You will get tasty smash burgers freshly made (try double patty) and cheese fries here. Taphouse nearby doesn't have food. So this is a good option if you want to try something there.

The food is always so delicious, the pricing is amazing and the service is next level. I love that this place is so close to my house because it's one of my favorite spots. 10/10 would recommend!

Anytime we are in the area we make it a point to stop here! The burgers, chicken sandwiches and the fries are delicious! The team is friendly and helpful! They are in the parking lot of Uptown Beer and give you a beeper so you can enjoy a beer while your food is prepped! A match made in heaven.

UPDATED REVIEW! We went back to Mid City Smash Burger and it's been excellent. Ian is an awesome chef and our family loved the burgers. I don't always like the overcooked smashed burger style if they are too well done. But Ian has been great at cooking em so they are still flavorful and juicy. Def check out Mid City Smash Burger!

I went on a weekday lunch time and ordered the deluxe burger with fries and beer. They give you a beeper, so you are free to go inside while waiting for the burger. The beer token was for Binary Brewing beer only, but because there wasn't a lot of choice, he let me pick any draft beer (thanks Uptown!). The burger was just OK, nothing exceptional. If I'm hanging out at the Uptown Beer and wanted something to eat, I would not hesitate in ordering here. It's located right at their parking lot, so super convenient. But I definitely don't think it's the best burger in Portland nor would I go out of the way for it. The only thing that irks me is that the *lowest* tip option is 20% (the other is 25 & 30) for essentially self-serve food cart.

I got the deluxie boi and the burger patty itself had a great texture and taste. Fantastic crisp edges and bold flavor. It was complemented well by the condiments and extras- I especially liked how much crunch the pickle slices had. I'll definitely be back but hopefully next time there's parking. The lot it resides in is very small and is shared with Uptown Beer and I had to park at the business park across the street around late afternoon happy hour time.

Love the seasoned patties and Mr. James fries. Ordered the Smashy Boi and and the Deluxe Boi.

Long wait, burger tasted whack. Super thin patties, disgusting sauce. Wish we had gone to Burgerville but like to support small businesses. Lets just say, I miss Rough Draft, previous spot at this location. Will not be back .

I would give a 4.5 for the burgers, but the chicken burger was amazing!! Excellent crunch, juicy chicken, and the sauce went perfectly on it. The burgers were very good, with crispy edges. I would definitely go again.

I actually feel sorry for the other burger spots, because this IS THE BEST BURGER IN PORTLAND. I said what I said. I dream about this burger- I might be going through burger withdrawls as I type this. For six buckeroonies (ok but leave a tip, duh) you too can can enjoy a smashy boi- a crispy crunchy sandwich of perfection. But bring that extra allowance, because this bad boi is best accompanied with crinkle cut fries and smash sauce. I personally choose to wash it down with a brewski from uptown, but you do you boo. Service- amazing, friendly, they know what a goldmine they have. I heart you midcity.

Solid food cart attached to Uptown Beer co. Mainly smash burgers, good quality and strong flavor. The buns are cold and while I am not sure what to expect I felt like they should be a little toaster or something. Overall friendly, good service, solid burger and great fries. Give it a shot!!

Some things to consider about this place is that its next to a bar, so this is basically a burger and beer thing. I think this a good place to base the standard of smash burgers on. Its not amazing, its not bad. If a burger is worst than this, its bad. If its better, its good ? does that makes sense ? Its perfectly vanilla. I dont think its possible to be disappointed and there is true value to that in consistency.

While I can absolutely appreciate the food cart experience as much as any Portlander can, I find myself easily subtracting one star because the service was ehhh okay. I really hate to say that bc I'm sure the cook was trying his best! But I definitely did expect a "hello, how are you?" when I walked up the window... the two burgers and fries took 30 minutes (understandable), and the open seating was outside, covered. You also have the option to go inside and sit in the beer hall. I expected more.

I was very sad to see sure shot burgers food truck leave this area. It was replaced by a chicken wing truck that didn't do anything for me. Got very excited to hear another smash burger place was coming in (can't figure out their name, signs say midcity smashedburger, website just says SmashBurger) anyways, burger was great! Fries were great. Perfect meal with a beer. I'm surprised how little amount of people were there at Noon, Friday. Hidden gem.

Staff was rude. Burger was decent. The guy working there failed to mention it would to 40 minutes to get a burger and fries. If you go don't tip until you've gotten your food if you come here

Delicious and pretty cheap. I recommend both the Clucky Boi and the Smashy Boi. Fries are tasty and they have loots of ketchup packets available. I will be returning here.

I thought about getting the fish but my daughter "It's a BURGER place!" - talked me into trying the burger, and I'm glad I did. This is a food truck, so how much ambiance can be had with a food truck? I can say that it was clean and looked nice, for a food truck. I got the regular smash burger with bacon and it was pretty terrific. This, coming from someone who isn't a big burger fan. The server/cook was nice and helpful. I also got the smashy fries with nacho cheese and smash sauce on it-yummy! I think I do want to try the fish one next time, though. I love a good fish sandwich.

Was SO excited to try this place. Went on New Year's Day with just 3 people in line in front of us and waited 40 MINUTES (luckily with a good cider from inside...but STILL too long) only to get two NOT HOT (how???) burgers. Friendly staff but wow guys, you've gotta figure out how to speed things up. I can't imagine trying this place when crowded. It was good, but fresh, hot and gooey would have made it truly great. Will try some more smashed burger places and see if we can do better.

At the Uptown Beer, so yummy! Deluxe Boi Burger is perfect size not too big or too small. Mr James style fries Happy to have this in the SW hood!

Decent cheeseburger and slightly above average. They should not have overhyped it. That's unfortunate. It was a little over $30 for two cheeseburgers, fries and Pepsi's. It was a little pricey.

The burger was great! The fries were meh. Very friendly staff and pretty quick service.

What you would expect from a smash burger joint. Great tasting burgers cooked to order and good fries. My wife and son tried the Clucky Boi chicken sandwich and were happy with it. It's a small trailer next to a pub, not a sit-in restaurant. They give you a pager so you can sit in the pub or your car instead of standing in the weather while you wait for your food.

6pm on a Saturday, with an open sign on, and it was closed. Somebody was in the truck but was not taking orders. Not coming back here again.

Great Burger, quick and friendly service. If you are looking for a good old fashion Smashburger this is your place. Give this place a shot you will not be disappointed.

Really enjoyed the burger. Cooked wonderfully, nice crusty char on it. Buns were good. Will definitely visit again. I have my list of favorites, always trying to find a good old-school burger. Midcity just made my top 5 favorites.

Amazing burger!! The guy at the front was so nice and they have a cute bottle shop to chill in and play games!

This has become my go-to for smash burgers! We are hooked now and probably come here at least 1-2 times per week. When the previous burger cart left, I found my self driving to MCB on the east side... Needless to say, I was super stoked when they opened up just down from my house. Uptown beer is also an awesome spot, great to grab a beer while waiting for my Smashy Boi's! Bonus points for offering the "bag o burgers" special!!

Cheap and delicious! The shakes are amazing and the staff was super friendly also. Definitely will be coming back.
