Pop-Up Fisherman’s Tavern McGuirk’s Folly to Open in Cambridge March 2022 | Eater Boston

"An adaptable Central Square room owned by Dennis Lopes and Chris Young that the owners always envisioned using as an incubator early in the evening while the space waited for its usual 10 p.m. dance party, Middlesex Lounge is presented as the ideal spot for McGuirk’s Folly’s experiment — offering a daytime/evening flexibility that has already hosted other small businesses and allowed the room to be used more continuously." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Cute Pop-up Tea Shop Expands to Harvard Square for the Summer | Eater Boston

"I mention that Middlesex Lounge in Central Square has been hosting the Abide tea-shop pop-up indefinitely, making it a recurring weekend spot to catch Abide’s drinks." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Great place to go dancing on a Saturday night! It starts early and gets packed early so keep that in mind. The crowd is great & the bartenders are quick, cool and very easy on the eyes 😉. Drinks are a bit pricey though. Will definitely be back there on a Saturday night.

The settings are very nice bartenders are excellent don't have to repeat your orders

Bartender refused service if we didn’t double tip?? Worst bar ever don’t waste your $50 for cover and 2 drinks Edit: I contacted the bar and they wouldn’t even respond on instagram after they asked what happened and I told them. Guess this is normal for them 🤷🏻‍♀️ I gave them two weeks

Decently large space that can be reserved before the prime time. Drinks are average and typical Cambridge prices. There is often a cover here. The bathrooms don’t close and lock well.

Another awesome night! Bartenders & staff were fantastic as usual! I don't know how the staff can stay so calm & collected with all the grumpy people from like 3 days ago (Saturday). I heard Harvard lost against Yale so that could explain why students were so grumpy and complaining. DJ had a killer set!

Hi Chris, just wanted to say thank you again so much for hosting us on Saturday. Your venue is such a beautiful little spot. The club was lovely and clean and all set up when we got there. The staff were awesome, Korey (manager) and Natasha (bartender) are stars. And the DJs were fantastic. My phone is lighting up with everyone telling me that they had such a good time (we had about 50 to 60 people all told). So you get all the thanks for planning that with us and hosting us! It was a great multi-birthdays party. My daughter (college junior) texted me the highest praise, she said "immaculate vibes fr" 😊✨🪩✨💗✨🙏

I love the fish & chips! I will be back. Update: They stopped serving meals before the dancing starts. I'll miss it.

Yelp
I need to ask... what happened to this place? We used to go here pre-covid as our goto dance floor to bump and grind. It was perfect... dark, sexy, anonymous... During those days, the DJs always seemed in tune with the room. You could find dance battles in the middle of the floor, break dancers off in the front corner... just good vibes from everyone there... Went last Saturday and it was truly awful. I hated it compared to what it once was. Who ruined it? AMBIENCE Middlesex used to be dark and sexy. The renovations added accent lighting that bring a bit too much visibility to the dance floor. THE MUSIC/DJ I asked the door people what they were spinning before going in and he said house/afrobeat/hiphop... alright cool. Sounds great... that was not what we got! The DJ should go pick up a Vivance prescription ASAP (and maybe learn how to read a room too). He was switching up the genres/tracks like every 45 seconds and blending backbeats that had no business being used as transitions. Almost felt like he was mixing two diff tempos at certain points... and not in a good way. Multiple times I looked around and the dance floor was just standing there bc everyone was confused... Is it so hard to ask for a solid 10-20 minute set of one genre so we can get in a groove? Why do I have to go from dancing to afrobeat, to JayZ/Kanye, to Whitney Houston... back to house music... to Ginuwine... it was awful. It was like his set was both lacking any sense of cohesiveness plus stuck in the early-2010's. He even decided to interrupt the dance floor to sing happy birthday to someone of import... which I was happy to do bc apparently that person was repsonsible for the Msex, but couldnt even tell who that was... it was just kinda awkward... THE BAR Bar was fine. Wish they still had the water station. But then again, with a DJ that keeps the dance floor from ever poppin off, you dont need to worry about your patrons needing to be too hydrated... OVERALL This place is a shadow of what it used to be. Didnt see the people cutting loose like they used to. Maybe some of that is just people these days... but the DJ wasnt helping... and the changes to the ambience, while they look kinda nice with the red border lights, make things a bit too light in the room for my taste. Its no wonder the dance floor never filled up like I remember it doing on Friday/Saturday nights of the past. You used to be able to disappear into the night at Middlesex. Now it just feels like you are exposed as a sucker for even being there...

Yelp
Not too sure what to make of this place. Came with coworkers after work and it was dead for a long time. Didn't seems to pickup until 10pm. It was early and we were the only people there for a long time and the DJ still had a no requests policy even though it was only us. The charges on my CC didn't make much sense either as i had multiple charges. Order Manhattans and this is more of a 2 ingredient bar cocktail place.

Yelp
My friends and I came to celebrate a birthday. We were met with some friendly bouncers that were able to get us in pretty quickly. There was no cover fee which is always appreciated. The drinks for pretty standard and the music had a decent variety. I liked that it was very open and easy to dance around. There are also a few seats available around the perimeter of the room which helps when you're wearing heels. We ended up having a good time, better than what I wasn't anticipating. Would like to come again.

Yelp
A very interesting place. I had walked by this place on a Friday and it was popping around 9:30pm. I thought it looked fun and my friends and I went the next day around 10pm. We were the only ones there. It was a $10 cover and we were told that it was the "early bird cover special" and that it is normally $25 - I would not recommend playing that much for this place. The dj was playing songs I had never heard of and was also not taking request, again there was about 10 people in this place. The drinks were relatively priced, although my friend had gotten a Long Island and it was $17. As the night went on it did get more crowded and the dj played better music. It is fun with a big group of people. I must say the bouncers were some of the nicest people. The were super friendly and chatty while we were waiting for it to become more lit.

Yelp
I hosted a private event at Middlesex a few weekends back. We booked the place for two hours 8-10pm. Experience and service was top notch. Michael and team were extremely professional. Food, dancing, and DJ were fantastic. Owners were present and very welcoming. I can't recommend this location enough. We will most definitely be returning for future corporate events. Thanks for everything guys! Logan
