Seattle Pop-up Chefs Try to Help Those in Need During Coronavirus Crisis | Eater Seattle

"As a pop-up operation focused on community-driven events, Midnight Mecca has been a longtime project of Chef Tarik Abdullah; he runs the pop-up and has made community-driven events a big part of his work for years, and he's now helping a Central District restaurant with its charitable effort." - Gabe Guarente

On June 14, 2025, I purchased two tickets for Midnight Market ATL, an outdoor vendor-merchant event in Atlanta. Within 20 minutes of arriving, it began to pour rain and lightning was detected within a 2-mile radius. The Atlanta Police Department shut the event down, explaining that each lightning strike required a 45-minute closure. What should have been a brief delay stretched into 3.5 hours. My significant other and I, left standing in the rain without shelter, were forced to leave due to childcare obligations. We never received the services we paid for. That same night, I immediately opened a dispute through Chime Financial, the bank I used for the purchase. My dispute has been mishandled from the start: The first dispute was denied without proper review. On my second attempt, a representative incorrectly stated that I never contacted the merchant. This is false. I called their number (disconnected) and sent multiple messages via Instagram (unread and unanswered). The merchant has been completely unresponsive and unreachable. Despite this, Chime has failed to advocate for me, ignored my evidence, and left me without a refund. It has now been over two months since the event, and I am still waiting for resolution. This has caused financial loss, wasted time, and stress. More importantly, it demonstrates a failure in both the merchant’s responsibility to deliver services or refund customers.

I had a great time at this event last weekend while visiting friends in Atlanta! The VIP experience was totally worth it, especially if you attended early (like me) and wanted to stay out of the sun (like me). It was great to have all of the amenities of the VIP tent: shade, comfy seating, a private bar & bathroom (no lines), 2 drink tickets included, and skipping the line for entry. The food was great, the DJs were a *vibe*, and the free roller skating was awesome. It was really cool to experience so many different small businesses in one place and have the opportunity to try their menus. A friend of mine realized that she lives right around the block from one of the vendors, Pho Cue (excellent brisket egg rolls btw) and now she has a new favorite restaurant in her neighborhood. I would advise going earlier rather than later so you can avoid lines for entry and food & dance the night away once it gets dark (and the lines get longer). Such a fun, unique experience. Thank you!

Pretty excited to attend but this event was poorly managed. I paid $30 for a ticket between 7-7:45. I arrived early and still couldn’t get inside the venue ON TIME per my ticket because of the extensive long line. The line was over two miles long and the wait exceeded 2 hours. No matter if you show up on time, you WILL NOT be able to get in during your schedule time because the line entrance was poorly managed. Buying a VIP ticket does not matter because you still have to wait and continue to wait. It got to the point I left and treated myself to dinner else where due to the line. If they do this again, one entrance way is not going to cut it. eTickets should expedite the process not delay it

I came last year and this year and it just keeps getting better! Outdoor skate rink was fire. The food stands were amazing and the music was a huge vibe! I’m already looking forward to next years event!!

$32 to stand in very long food lines, do not go here and expect to enjoy your night and be entertained because you won’t. We spend majority of our time in lines to get in and food lines. They only had one good food vendor which was Chicas Birria, if their were better options I wouldn’t know because the lines were tooooo long. The Drinks were so watered down it was a complete disgrace. Who ever the promoter for this event is needs to be kicked outta Atlanta gracefully 🤦🏽‍♂️ Oh and by the way y’all should be ashamed of yourselves for having that Baby Skate rink 🤣🤣

Fun, good food and drinks. It needed a few more vendors to have more options. We had some Mexican, Philippine-Hawaiian, Puerto Rican and some delicious matcha tea float. The portions were good and fair pricing. Great DJ!

Had a great time with friends! VIP access was worth it for the seating, shade, and designated bathroom and bar.

Currently at Midnight Market at Atlantic Station and I am enjoying my evening. Plenty of food vendors to choose from, good music and great vibes.
