One of the best chicken over rice options I've tried. While Adel's Famous Halal Food pops up as the most popular spot on Google, I don't think it's worth the hype or waiting in long lines for 50 minutes to 2 hours for a plate. In contrast, Mido's portion sizes are great, and the food tastes amazing. There's a lot of flavor in the sauces, and the fries have a nice crunch. Plus, the server is friendly and always smiling. I'd definitely recommend Mido's over any of the highly reviewed spots on Google

I think I just discovered the best halal truck ever. Generous portions, in an aluminum container to hold the weight, and they even have their own cute logo plastic bags, AND give sturdy thick plastic forks vs most other places. But wait there's more, they even threw it little "surprises" into my chicken over rice, like French fries and a falafel. The salad portion was great too. Super fresh and tasty. The price is unbeatable too, $10 for a huge meal that could probably feed 3 people. The two men working seemed so kind and warmly smiling the whole time. Anytime i'm craving halal in NYC, I'm going straight here!

Decided to try Mido’s Halal food truck after seeing positive reviews on social media, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the chicken and lamb rice combo, and everything was cooked to perfection. The meat was juicy, the rice had a great texture, and a fresh salad was included. I opted to have the garlic sauce provided on the side in containers rather than having it slathered all over. The sauce was good, but nothing to write home about. Overall, the service was excellent—the cooks were friendly, and the prices were great given the generous portion sizes. I’d highly recommend this food truck over other popular spots like The Halal Guys so you don’t have to queue an insane amount of time! ⭐️

Right next to my hotel and I couldn’t stop eating the combination platter it was really delicious I always get it with the 3 sauces (green, red, & white) prices are great and portions are amazing!! This is hands down the best halal cart I had.

Food and service have gone downhill. Unfortunately if you’re not of middle eastern descent your service is a bit rude and brusque. I get the language barrier but a smile is easy to reciprocate. Last time I came the container was half full (compared to how they normally do it). This time I asked for extra napkins and the guy made an audible sound of annoyance. Sorry, did I bother you? Don’t worry, that was the last time. I’ll go to Bashir Halal in Queens (my #1 overall) next time.

I recently tried this fantastic Halal food cart in the city! I ordered both the Chicken over Rice and Lamb over Rice platters, which were priced at $9 each. While the flavors were amazing, I felt the portion of meat could have been more generous. They included fries with the meal, but if not eaten immediately, they tend to get soggy. The convenience of accepting credit cards is a plus. The service was quick, and the staff were friendly. I particularly enjoyed their hot sauce, which had a satisfying level of heat. Overall, I recommend this Halal cart for its tasty options and efficient service.

As a tourist visiting NYC for the first time, I really wanted to try chicken on rice with white sauce from a street vendor. After doing some research, Mido's came up in multiple searches - and it lived up to its reputation. I absolutely loved the food and found the portion size to be very generous. The attached pictures show the dish after I traveled for over an hour with it to get home, so they don't accurately reflect how the dish is presented to you on the street. The chili sauce I got on top was delicious and definitely packed some heat. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting New York City.

Our now de facto halal spot. Meat is inconsistently charred/uncharred but what is consistent is the generous portions with the meat AND white sauce. I have a reputation of downing meat (that's right, gentlemen and dangly ladies) and I can split the meal into two portions. Quite easily one of my go-tos when trying to get that protein intake. And the kicker is, they're on doordash! Yes, you can stay warm in the mall and have your halal. The rice has a light herbally taste to it and the meat has been uncharred more than they've been charred. I liked the blackened bits but my fiance likes uncharred, so whomever it pleases.

Possibly the best Cart in NY! Fresh, and delicious is the name of the game here. Top notch,QUALITY food. With the amount of Halal carts from which I have consumed food, I can comfortably say that I'm an expert in this category. From the hype days of 53rd and sixth, to Sammy's, and now Adel's. BUT in my humble opinion, Mido's tops them all. The food is QUALITY! Deliciously spiced chicken and Gyro. Done to perfection. The veggies, fresh and crisp, and the rice! Wow! The most delicious yellow rice I've ever had. EVER! The spicy rice isn't spicy per say, but more of a "spiced" rice. It has just a hint of sweetness to it as well. Cinnamon maybe? It's DELICIOUS! The lamb is softer than the big chewy pieces from the other carts. It melts in your mouth, and the chucken is perftly juicy and delicious. The white sauce is awesome, and the hot sauce, HOT! The fries are the battered kind, perfectly crisp. This cart is So slept on. When I went, there was no line. I ordered and waited about 10 minutes for them to make the food. Loved knowing it was put on the grill fresh. The guys working were so nice, and kind! The service for me, goes a long way. Especially since we drive over an hour from Flushing. Passing many other places just for Mido's food. It's SO worth it in my opinion. The combo over rice is $9, and the pita sandwich is $8. The sandwich was fighting for its life to close lol. We ate the sandwich before we had a chance to take a pic lol. This is the place that deserves the hype of the other carts. Will I be sad waiting in line? Sure. But with what this cart has, I will be back and wait. SO worth the drive for this gem! Keep up the good work guys. PS. PLEASE open up a cart in Queens. Sunnyside, Woodside, Flushing

Residential halal cart on 6th between 18th & 19th. Good prices and carefully made food that is better than mid despite the name. I had the lamb & chicken combo platter ($9) which was piled with 2 entire meals worth of food. It had spicy rice that wasn't very spicy, lettuce, tomato, onion, lamb, chicken, fries, and white sauce. The fries were the star because they were shockingly crisp, coated, and fresh like old prestige diner fries. The meat was tender and fresh too. I wouldn't seek it out, but it's a high value play if I'm in the area. I liked everything I had.

Great food - no wait. Found this cart from TheHalalGuysGuy on Instagram, and we had this ranked as his top halal cart in the city. Even higher than Adel's! I've really only had halal food from Adel's that's been memorable (not from NYC so not many chances to eat this) I pulled up and there had to have been maybe one person in front of me. Maybe a 10 minute wait since they whipped up a batch of lamb on the grill. However, food was amazing. They have a really nice salad with pickles, jalapeño, and raw onions that I personally think went well with the food. It also comes with a few fries which I thought was a plus don't recall Adel's doing that. The portion was great for $9. The rice was NOT AS SALTY as Adel's which was my biggest complaint. Had flavor for sure with the spices and sauce on it. The lamb though man. Star of the show - so tender and seasoned. Every bite juicy and tasty and those juices would mix with the rice and the sauce sheesh. The red sauce is pretty spicy I don't think it's as spicy as Adel's but it's got a lot of kick still. Love this cart and got 2 plates again to take home on the flight back! No need to wait and this is fresh. The greens are FRESH all green no white lettuce in there or limp lettuce. The meat tender flavorful. This is my cart of choice

Solid halal cart! I came on a Wednesday evening after work, and the service was pretty quick - maybe an 8 minute wait to get my food (fast especially when compared to the very famous Adel's). I got the lamb and chicken rice combo for $9, and enjoyed the french fries that were included. I enjoyed the meat and thought everything was very flavorful. Their red sauce is magnitudes LESS spicy than Adel's. I got a normal amount and definitely wish I asked for extra. Given the reduced wait time (especially compared to Adel's) I'd definitely come back again!

Went to this halal cart because of u/thehalalguysguy and his new website www.overrice.nyc which gives halal carts around the city a score out of 10. Mido's was highly rated. It was solid with basically no wait. I really enjoyed the chicken here because it wasn't minced up and had a good texture. The mixed plate came with salad and some fries. It was loaded with white sauce. For $9, this is a filling and tasty meal. This is worth to try this if you're in the area. Theres nowhere to sit, so people are eating their food standing or leaning against the building.

I heard good things about this halal cart so I decided to try it out. They are friendly and really pack in the food. I got two meals from my chicken over rice. There are two types of rice to choose from, yellow and spicy (it's not hot spicy though). A platter also includes a few fries thrown on top, which I enjoyed. The food is pretty good, better than the average cart, but not my favorite. The chicken pieces are a bit dry to me. A platter when I went was $9.

Two years ago I made a Yelp review for this Halal truck. Two years later I wanted to come back and express my disappointment that Yelp still does not allow me to give more than 5 stars, because Mido's deserves it. In the last 2 years I would estimate I have had over 100 orders of chicken of rice from this truck and I am confident they are the best in the COUNTRY. Do you want to know why I feel this way? Because of the following Better quality meat than anyone else Bigger portions than anyone else Better seasoning than anyone else Better pricing than anyone else ($9 chicken over rice, $1 soda) Are you still reading? Better salad than anyone else Better service than anyone else Piping hot food every single time The list goes on Midos has one problem. One problem that was changed my life for the worse. I no longer enjoy Halal food that isn't made by them. Nothing comes close. Nothing compares. Don't over think it, Midos is more than a food truck. Earth is 4.5 billion years old, humans have been around 300,000 years, and you're telling me I just so happen to be lucky enough to be alive at the same time Midos has their food truck parked outside? This isn't luck, this isn't a coincidence, this is bigger than that.

Followed the recommendation of halalguysguy and ate here ("here" in this case, is the Mido's cart at 58th and 9th near Columbus Circle). Ordered the chicken over rice for my husband and falafel over rice for me, but was told "no falafel today." Slightly disappointed, and made that two chickens over rice. Slightly disappointed, that is, until I got these home -- absolutely fabulous, and certainly one of the best halal cart meals I've ever had. Really enjoyed the combo of salad, pickled, jalapeños. Chicken was delicious. There wasn't a long wait -- a few folks ahead of me, but the food came out fast. Friendly service. Will return for lamb and/or falafel, for sure.

An excellent meat over rice halal platter. The sauce is basically mayo. Which is kind of nasty but also kind of awesome. The meat is tender and powerfully seasoned. The rice is toothy and aromatic. The dudes are fast and friendly. It's an halal cart. Pretty similar to others. I like that they throw some fries in there to mix it up.

I love the Lamb & Chicken combo with red rice , white sauce & hot sauce. It also had some salad in it as well. I saw some people said there were French fries in theirs so I'll have to ask for some next time. Many of the Halah trucks had the yellow rice but this location also has the red rice. Plan on going back soon while in NYC.

Always see people ordering at this halal cart and finally stopped by today! They were super fast and friendly! I ordered lamb over rice with extra white sauce and a little bit of hot sauce. I love that there's fries & pickles inside the platter. It was very delish! My new go-to halal cart for sure!

I visited this halal spot after it was reviewed by a reviewer that specifically does reviews on many halal carts around the city. What I like about this place is you can tell they care about quality. The lamb and chicken combo was very flavorful which was all under a nice bed of rice, they actually give you a fresh fresh salad not just plain old iceberg lettuce. They threw in a few jalapeños and fries for free with each order. I was lucky to go during night with a friend and was able to eat this in a car, I wish it was in a better location for outdoor eating. Next time I go maybe ill take my halal to a nearby park or fast food joint lol. I want to revisit and next time get the hot sauce on the side so I can really taste the full platter. I would call this place the quality halal spot My take is 4.5/5 stars gave it 5 stars for the freshness of the food

Literally crying. I wanted wing stop so bad lol but it was a mile away and I didn't have time. OH EM GE they dont beat wing stop for the wings but they have their own unique extra crispy and extra delicious wings you would not want to miss out on! 9 bucks for ten robust wings and fries. I love this place. The lamb over rice also looked really good

Woowww, I happened to walk by this Halal cart, and it was one of the best Halal food I ever had!!!!! I got the Combo Plate with chicken and Lamb for only $6 (A steal compared to Halal Guys and Adel's. This place is so much cheaper). The portions were big, good enough to serve 2 meals. The meats (chicken & lamb) were fresh. The salad had Olives in it, which was delicious! There were also fries in my platter. White sauce and Red Sauce were on point. Another plus is that this cart was open for business while others weren't or had restricted hours.I got here at 12PM, while another cart was still not open. This was definitely a BIG discovery for me. Don't go to Halal Guys. You can read my negative reviews on that cart. Go to Mido's Halal Food instead!

Finally, a great halal cart without a 2 hour line. Very flavorful rice, chicken and lamb. This is the best one I've found in Manhattan. There's also another location on 58th and 9th.

Dill, olives, pickled peppers, fries - the little things can add so much when it comes to halal carts. Quality chicken. $8, which is about what you'd expect now for the good stuff. Top-notch all around... and they take cards. If it's not outrageously out of your way, go here for your next halal fix.

One of the best Halal carts!!! Food is soooo good and flavorful! Chicken is tender and seasoned perfectly, rice is fluffy, salad is delicious. Then they add French fries on top of the platters!!! Add white sauce & BBQ sauce yummm

I eat here occasionally. I always get the same thing, chicken and lamb over rice. I usually get it with hot sauce. It's spicy, though! This last time that I ordered from there I got it with white sauce. It was better.

Mido's is the spot! The team that works here is always efficient so even if there's a long line, you don't have to wait forever. The food is delicious each and every time I go. I've had this place in the afternoon and midnight - great quality!

I'm going to be very honest here, First does this trick Smells delicious when u pass by ? Yess! 2nd unfortunately, That's not the case when u actually trying it... There's way too much greens that you barely get chicken. I also Did NOT LIKE HOW AND WHERE THEY STORE THE RAW CHICKEN. THEY KEEP IY IN THIER YELLOW BAG JUST THROWN IN THERE AND WHEN THEY READY TO COOK THEY THROW IN FROM THAT SAME BAG TO COOK... This Halal truck is NOT Sanitary and needs to be looked in too! I was also over charge. I Will NOT be Ordering from them Ever Again... Find a Better cleaner halal truck then these guys... Very disappointed how they store their Chicken

There is no shortage of Halal food, let alone food trucks in this city but I really feel for them during this period as they need the foot-traffic to survive and not all of them are online and take cash. I miss my bi-monthly (twice a month) order of the combo platter (chicken and lamb) when I worked uptown. I used to never tip the food trucks but now I do. Eventually, I ventured out of my home once a week to drop off composting and often passed this Mido's Halal truck. It's been awhile since I had it and I really missed it all year. They have a great hot sauce that is REALLY hot (I once had them add too much and had to eat in 5-min segments to allow my mouth to cool off!) and they even include a few French Fries with the order - what a plus! for my hips. Unfortunately, I've been making this a weekly order rather than bi-weekly, LOL! This order is very flavorful (although it's salty but they all are) and they know what they are doing. Friendly guys. All I've ever gotten is the combo platter and the fries, it's my favorite so I will have to venture and try the other menu options soon. I'm writing this review to simply say, if you like this food and you're in the neighborhood, give this food cart a go. At $6 + tip, you can't go wrong. Oddly, there's another Mido's catty-corner from this one; I assume they are the same group but this one gets more foot-traffic. I used to consistently go to Rafiqi's but this is my new go-to since it's in my 'hood.

Some of the best Halal food I've had in the city. Big plate and the chicken melts in your mouth. Rice was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the jalapeños and green olives on the side.
