I came here during the "Football Food Crawl" event the week of the Superbowl where a few local restaurants offered free samples. I wish I would have gotten a picture of their brisket (the sample), or cheese fries loaded with brisket that I had. The food was great. I would definitely come back here, despite the surly bartenders. The brisket alone would have received 5 stars.

The food is outstanding. I had pulled pork and brisket with greens and mushrooms as sides. The plate came with a slaw interpretation not to miss and homemade cucumber pickles. As comfort food, I could plow this stuff down until they had to roll me out of there, but it was a delicacy. The two meats were each distinctly developed flavors and the sides as worthy. This is the work of no rookie. I love BBQ and I love inspired cooking. I look forward to seeing how they do when Midtown realizes what's cooking there. No surprise, the staff was kind and attentive. The food was quick. They have ample parking. I hope they stay for a long time.

As a fairly recent transplant to Houston (5 years), I've generally be underwhelmed by "Texas BBQ." A recent trip to Salt Lick BBQ in Round Rock changed that, and I have an insatiable appetite for *good* Texas BBQ--and I'm glad Houston has something that meets me right where I need it now. Midtown BBQ is delicious. The spare ribs, loaded fries, and mixed greens all graced my plate and each delivered. The ribs were huge, tender, and meaty. The strawberry dessert and the Shipley's donut bread pudding--which I stole bites of from my fellow diners--demand a new level of dessert worship from this lowly human being. The woman at the table across from us had the beef rib and said it was absolutely delicious. [Unfortunately, the day we visited they were out of sausage, baked potatoes, and turkey. Apparently a large party devoured them all during lunch.] There's a full bar and a decent beer menu. Parking seems sufficient for now--but I can't imagine it will be enough when this place really picks up steam. The outdoor seating is delightful--although I could do without the possibility of cigarette smoking while I try to enjoy my dinner.

My husband and I decided to give Midtown BBQ another try after an extremely bad experience with poor service and rude staff. This time, the service was excellent, and the food was OK. The only problem was with what they call barbecue sauce. It is more of an Italian marinara sauce that just doesn't go with smoked meats. Without having tasted it first, my husband spooned it on his sandwich and completely ruined it. Apparently, the owners are from a region outside of Texas--perhaps East Coast or New England--where such flavor is acceptable with barbecue. Everything else is fine. Just AVOID the using the sauce without having sampled it first.

It has free parking! And a wide assortment of beers on tap plus BBQ! The BBQ is not a similar experience to Rudy's or Killen's where you order meat, sides and get a ton of bread and condiments to your hearts desire. But the beef brisket is super juicy (or fat), ribs are fall off the bone and seasoned well. You will want much more of their BBQ sauce as they give you a tiny cup worth and it's a unique tomato-y sauce. If you like ketchup, you'll enjoy this sauce. Missing the last star because as I'm typing this review, I'm not craving anything I had or coming up with an excuse to bring my coworkers here so I can have more meat. All in all, decent BBQ that is plenty enough to satisfy anyone's craving for meat, but come back every day and die of high cholesterol but happy? Not quite. :)

Staff was very inviting, several people stopped by to make sure we were ok. The reason we were there though was for BBQ-I have to say as someone who was born and raised in Texas their BBQ is the real deal!! Moist brisket, beef ribs and spare ribs is what I had and I will be back for more soon.

Best BBQ in Midtown Houston, friendly attentive waiting staff. Brisket was EXCELLENT! Full service bar with patio dining if desired and lots of screens to catch the game on. Great place to have your party in midtown. FULL SERVICE BAR OPEN TIL 2 am on weekends.
