Astral Tequila Cocktails in Sacramento | Eater

"This three-story bar, restaurant, and brewery is also a great venue for sports fans, thanks to the seven TV screens throughout the building. You’ll find a hearty menu of bar bites, including wings and jalapeño poppers, alongside more substantial fare like Niman Ranch burgers and an assortment of 12-inch pizzas. There’s also an extensive beer list, but if you aren’t in the mood for a brewski, try a refreshing margarita with Astral Blanco, hibiscus syrup, raspberries, and a squeeze of lime." - Bernadette Machard de Gramont

Good beer selection. Good service. Reasonable happy hour prices. I've had their food before, and it was good. Clean bathrooms. I'll keep attending events here.

Food was ok. Service was above average. Atmosphere is 2 because there was a potential predator outside that started following my husband and I when we left at 4:30 pm. We think person 1 came in to buy a shot n case the joint to tell person 2. Please be aware of your surroundings, trust your gut and don't overdo it.. Will not return.

I have two reviews here. This first paragraph was from three years ago when I gave this place five stars. Okay so let’s see here... Sick Rooftop? Check. Fires on rooftop? Check. City view? Check. On site brewery with fresh beer? Check. Top level burgers and fries? Check... I mean do I need to keep going? Or are you already putting these coordinates in your phone. This is my review from a few weeks ago : My buddy and I went in there for lunch expecting what I remembered over the years of coming here and got something completely different. I didn’t want a hamburger just a simple grilled cheese and tomato soup and my buddy got a turkey club and it took them almost an hour and a half to make our food despite us being one the only few people there. when I got my tomato soup, it was lukewarm and it also was basically ketchup with a bit of spice in it. I have a picture of ketchup and the soup side-by-side, and they literally tasted the same. Tomato soup is a fairly easy dish to make and I love a good tomato soup and this was ketchup.

Edit: I had to update my review because this last time I came in, the experience was completely different. When I came in, none of the bartenders smiled, greeted me, or acknowledged me, even though they saw me walk in and sit at the bar. They weren't busy, just chatting with one another. After several minutes of sitting there, a woman, Laura, finally approached me. She didn't give any food or drink recommendations, or offer a menu, so I had to ask. When I asked about the wifi, she gave me the wrong password the first time. Of course, I had to wait a couple of minutes to get her attention before asking again, and then she gave me the correct password. From the cocktail menu, I ordered the Lemon Drop, but it had salt on the rim (which ruined it for me). Every place I've ordered a Lemon Drop, they first ask if I want salt on the rim. I wanted to order food, but I was ignored and walked by several times. She had no problem giving other customers attention and chatting with them. Several minutes go by, and I finally get to order the BBQ Cheeseburger. I asked for no cheese and BBQ sauce, but when it arrived, Laura gave me BBQ sauce anyway. She didn't offer any condiments, so I had to wait a couple more minutes to get her attention just to ask for some ketchup and ranch. Once I finished my meal, I had to sit there for a whole 10 minutes before she noticed I was done. I was friendly the whole time, but I definitely lost my patience once I was done eating and waiting forever for the check. A lot of time wasted with poor service. The drink was good, minus the salt. The burger was decent. The fries, while good, didn't have seasoning on it like the last time I visited. The pricing was reasonable, though. --------------------------------------------- 1st review from 1+ year ago: 5 Stars Good food. Good beer. Fun and friendly workers. I really liked the place! *The picture with the burger and fries with ketchup, and the picture with the beer and water are from my first visit*

Google
Was unfortunate that the hours for the brewery were incorrect and it wasn't open when we showed up in the AM. The burger place was open so we went to the roof and enjoyed a couple of beers while we waited though. Great rooftop atmosphere. Downstairs was chilly but understandable since the brewery tanks are down there too. Probably feels really good on a hot day. The beers are tasty and easy to drink. We didn't eat but everything coming out of the restaurant looked phenomenal. Love the games in the brewery and the magnet wall. Private tables upstairs with family-style downstairs.

We stopped on on Saturday afternoon before the place got busy. Roof top was closed, but they let me up for pictures. Enjoyed a few beers and back to the car before the meter ran out. Overall good choice 👌

If you like FRESH brewed beer, this place is awesome. Their Tap Menu they have posted online does not match what's actually on tap. I love Vienna Lagers and saw that they had a Vienna Munchner (IPA) posted on their online tap list.... unfortunately it was not available. But don't worry, they had plenty of varieties to choose from! I had the "Strawberry Mango Stein Dry Fruited Blonde" and the "Set Phatos to Stun IPA"...loved them both! I think my bartender was excited about the beer as I was, which I enjoy. I travel a lot and sharing a beer with someone who is as excited to serve it as I am to drink it is always a joy.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday around 5:45pm. We had a group of seven. They kindly put us at a large table with bench seating. This is a local sports bar with a warehouse feel. There is a large rectangular bar and several tables. We opened a tab for our table and ordered several entrees: gastroburger (medium), bacon cheeseburger, Greek salad and the peach raspberry mile purple crown and an old fashion. The burgers were amazing!!! The Greek salad had a great lemon dressing : ) the drinks (mules, old fashioned, beer). Loved this place. Food is amazing and drinks were great as well. The only thing is that there is only street parking or a paid parking lot.

Yelp
Ambiance 5/5- It's clean, expansive with plenty of dining options, from their basement to the rooftop. Perfect place for happy hour or hanging with family or friends. Food 4/5 -We had pizza, salad and buffalo wings. I was expecting standard tasting food but the taste exceeded my expectations. The pizza crust was light and fluffy like it was oven fire roasted. The buffalo wings were exceptionally crispy which is rare in most buffalo wings. Everything was good! Service 4/5- We sat at the bar and our bartender was warm and welcoming.

Yelp
The vibe was nice. I wanted to love this place but the girl behind the bar seemed overwhelmed, maybe she was training but we sat at the bar and she walked by us soooo many times with no acknowledgment. The Beer selection was pretty amazing and it was clean. The food options were subpar. Mozzarella sticks were warm but not melted. That was disappointing. And the Onion rings were all batter and over cooked. I really wanted fish tacos but Talapia yikes. Hard pass. I'd try this place again for the beer and vibe but I think I'd eat somewhere else.

Yelp
Stopped here before heading to the auditorium across the street. Decided to try this place because location location location lol. You walk up and order, they have a large beer menu as well as food options. I had the guacamole bacon burger and it was honestly cooked perfectly with a side salad instead of fries. Husband had the spicy chicken sandwich which is a thin cutlet that's breaded perfectly on a sourdough bread and fries. Daughter has the grilled cheese with tomato soup and she loves it! There was a bit of a wait for food so I'm happy we came early. But I don't think they were expecting it to be busy with kids on a Wednesday. So definitely would come back again.

Yelp
This is one of these businesses that is confusing as to what the name is. To make things simple and according to the Sacramento County food facility inspection website, it is called "Burgers and Brewhouse". The main dining area is called "Midtown Gastro Bar" while the rooftop area names it "Midtown Rooftop Bar". And even though they are still owned by the same people that own Burgers and Brew, this place is not on the Burgers and Brew website. Sometimes multiple restaurants under one owner can be quite a tricky process. However, this place is affiliated by their sister (and more popular) location at R and 14th St's as well as locations in West Sacramento, Davis, and Chico. Located directly on J St. (and in between 16th and 17th St's in the heart of Midtown Sacramento), Midtown Gastro Bar has been operating since 2018. Before, this place was where "Purgatory" once stood until the building was left empty for a few years. During my most recent experience, I ended up coming here during the afternoon of Sunday 5/21/2023 at around 3:30pm. As many other Yelp reviews have stated, the purpose of visiting a restaurant is to enjoy the beautiful outdoors; especially when Sacramento experiences beautiful weather in the spring and fall months. Which is why I find it quite disappointing that their rooftop bar is ONLY opened Friday & Saturday from 8pm-12am. However, this place does have a decent outdoor patio where you can enjoy a meal & drink as well as peoplewatching everyone going about their day. The inside though is quite impressive with a very spacious bar area, lots of tables for dining in (especially the cool winter night and hot summer days), and quite a bit of TV's that are viewable from every angle. Their menu is your standard pub-styled food that includes mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, wings, sandwiches, salads, and pizzas. Their burger selection is very minimal as they only have about 3 different burgers (as opposed to the 20+ burgers from their other locations). Since I wasn't craving anything too heavy, I ended up ordering their "12 Bone-in Buffalo Wings" for my +1 and I priced at a very reasonable $12. These wings are sautéed in red-hot buffalo sauce and I ended up going with both ranch and bleu cheese dressings. To drink, I went with an iced cold "Mojito" also priced low at just $7. During my visit, I ordered everything at the bar while the bartender handed me a number and I proceeded to sit outside. Service was timely and attentive as they only took about 10 minutes to bring my wings out. Overall, these wings hit the spot with a ton of chicken meat and the perfect amount of seasoning. All in all, "Midtown Gastro Bar" is a decent place for comfort food, a variety of drinks, and a good place to gather with friends. Many Yelp reviews have stated that the service, wait times, and food did not meet their expectations. I will say, at least from my experience that I had an enjoyable experience other than not being able to go to the rooftop bar. With that said and done, I am giving them an above average four star rating.

Yelp
This place is awesome! I walked in with my husband tonight to eat a good burger and a good burger is what I got! Not only was the food good but the bartender was great! His name was Marco! Another customer who was 86ed refused to leave and began yelling at him that she was going to get him fired. She was out of line and he handled it beautifully! I tried my best to stay out of it because you just never know these days. He walked away and let her fight with herself until she finally left. As a bartender myself I made sure to let him know that he handled it well and I definitely want management to know that he did well! He then went above and beyond to make the rest of our experience great! Thank you Marco!

Yelp
Service C+ Food B Ambiance B+ Place has so much potential. Staff is too busy on phone or socializing. Also since when do they ask for a credit card upfront when I am ordering food? I ordered water from the bar so I clearly wasn't drinking Some customers walked out of a mostly empty restaurant for lack of service I waited for 10 minutes for my burger in this same restaurant. Lots of TVs so good sports vibe. But I'd die of thirst if I did drink. Gasto burger was ok. Fries were but piping hot. Just service was not good. I'll visit their other locations

Yelp
I had such a fun, first-time visit at Midtown Gastro Bar. Met up with some friends for some drinks and small bites. They have a dog-friendly outdoor front patio (huge-plus) and they have an even bigger roof-top with comfy cabana-like couches plus a full bar upstairs. The DJ spinning on the Friday night I visited was great. He had the crowd dancing and having fun! The main floor is nice too. When you enter, you are greeted with high ceilings and a big open bar that's adjacent to the kitchen. They have multiple big screen TVs throughout the walls, which makes this spot great for watching sports especially for those Sunday Football games. I think I found my go to place for my Sunday Fundays!!! This place is very underrated and deserves more than its current 3 star rating. Come check out Midtown Gastro Bar, such a fun environment!

Yelp
The original place we intended to eat at was closed, so a quick Yelp search showed Midtown Gastro Pub was open and just around the corner. Since it was a Tuesday night, parking wasn't much of an issue but they do have a parking lot to the right of the building should there be no street parking. When we walked in, it was pretty empty. Literally only 5 people and that's including the bartender and cook! Again, kinda expected since it was late on a random Tuesday. We walked up to the bar and they had the menus on the counter so we grabbed some and seated ourselves. After a few minutes, the bartender came to our table with waters and took our order. I had the fish and chips, my husband had the tomato soup with grilled cheese and we also got their jalapeño poppers. Fish and chips were meh, just ok. You'd think they have a beer batter but it was more like bread crumbs. Fish is also tilapia, so a cheap fish at a fairly steep price. My husband did enjoy his tomato soup though. The jalapeño poppers were decent but I had asked for blue cheese instead of ranch and he still brought ranch. Our friend ordered a Strawberry vodka with soda water and he was given a vodka cranberry. Not even remotely close to what he ordered. Overall service was ok, he was the only one tending bar and working the tables. Inside is fairly large, there is a downstairs that was blocked off where all the brewery tanks and equipment are. The main level has a large open bar with seating all around and pub style tables along the walls. Upstairs is their rooftop bar, unfortunately it was closed off the night we came but may be worth another visit to check it out. Overall food ok, nothing exceptional. Menu is a little lacking as well. Between the messed up drink, no blue cheese and minimal follow up, service was just ok as well. Would we be back for late night eats, probably not but I'd come back to try out the rooftop area.

Yelp
First time here and all we had were chicken wings, which were actually good and one drink. The staff seemed nice and friendly, but the vibe for 1130p on a Saturday just seemed dead. They allowed a couple to make out.. tongue and all at the bar top. Just too much. We left and went somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
Disclaimer: bartenders and servers seem cool. This is obviously a business owner disregard to their business I ran into this spot by looking at a wall of food items that don't even exist. This chicken sando is garbage. Since I read the wall and ordered expecting the wall food. Bro I expected coleslaw, pickles, aoili.. but it was actually a LTO Buffalo chicken sandwich with sourdough... fix your wall dudes that's absolutely ridiculous. And the price is insane. Fries aren't even that good. I am just so disappointed man. Figure it out.

Yelp
Food was excellent!!! Service (Mark C) was a little rude and could benefit from some customer service training. The ladies working were on it! Very attentive!

Yelp
Service was great. Bartender allowed us to try our choice of beer prior to final order. We ordered two burgers I ordered The gastroburger- Delicious. And my friend the Spicy Guacamole Burger- Its a decent spice to enjoy your burger. Fast service too. 100% recommended. They also have a rooftop to chill every once in a while.

Yelp
We reserve this place for the kids, and the waitress was so rude because the kids were loud. She didn't talk to the parents she came straight with the kids and take the genga blocks away from their hands.

Yelp
Stopped in later in the afternoon after being downtown, watching the World Cup in the area earlier in the morning. We stopped in for a possible drink or two, and since it was my first time here I wasn't sure what they may have. After being greeted by the bartender she greeted us and gave us all, both the food and drink menus. I look over their drink menu but some really stood out to me, so I after how two different drinks were. To which the bartender poured me a sample of see to let me try. I wasn't a fan of either but settled on the only sour on the menu. Overall: Bartender was friendly and helpful. The sour I chose was ok.

James A.

Yelp
Great environment and excellent food. Lots of quality beers on tap and the atmosphere just had a warm, welcoming vibe to it.

Gary H.

Yelp
Went in for some food before a show last night. Worst service I've ever received. We were complete ignored, ordered drinks before ordering food and they dropped the receipt for our order first, wanting us to pay ahead, when asked why they said it's because of people running out. Funny, they didn't do it to the other table. Profiled much? Food was crap, barely melted grilled cheese and mozzarella sticks. Don't care about that. The lack of service while the waitress just stared at her phone and the man sat around hoping we would finish and leave was the bigger issue. This place is hot garbage. And I never expect much, just the basics, and I got zero from this place . They acted like we are a bother by just being there. Like they had someplace they'd rather be. And I still tipped about 25 percent

Yelp
I had suggested me and my gfs meet here Saturday night because it was a new spot. I arrived first and got an aperol spritz which was alright. When my friends came we all ordered food and apps. My friend who ordered the apps ordered her food right after. We got the loaded fries and mozzarella sticks. The loaded fries were alright, I've for sure had better. The mozzarella sticks were good. When our food came out they had forgotten my friends food. She then had to re order it. They claimed they were training someone and, "must not have heard." Her impossible burger came out finally. We finished eating and wanted to go upstairs to check out the rooftop bar. We were told we couldn't bring our drinks from downstairs upstairs. Which makes 0 sense since it's the same exact bar. After downing our drinks we went upstairs. Honest review, downstairs is trash. I would never recommend this place to anyone! They tried to charge my friend for her impossible burger that they forgot. When I spoke up the waiter said he didn't care if we paid. I said good, because we weren't planning on it. The food was not good. I got a spicy chicken sandwich that tasted like shit. Upstairs was cute. Taylor the bartender was really nice, the ambiance is good. However, such awful service downstairs I don't think we would ever return. I don't see this place lasting long.

Yelp
It's there all right, a brick building downtown with drinks inside it. Staff appeared to be working.

Yelp
The service at the bar was great. I was given a lot of great suggestions. I went with the burger and garlic fries. They were delicious!! I even tried a delicious pineapple cedar. It's quiet in the after but a great scene.

Yelp
Good food and nice ambience. This place is right next to my house so I'm really sorry to say that I will never be coming back here. I don't understand why the servers and bartenders would be so rude to my family and I. It was a Saturday afternoon, they were not terribly busy. They took other peoples orders before us even though we got there first. My three year old spilled water all over the table I notified the server and they never cleaned it up so we ate at a wet table the whole time. I asked if they had toothpicks she responded yes but intentionally never brought one out to me. The two bartenders and the one server were all very rude and snide. Whoever owns this place should be embarrassed..

Zoe Z.

Yelp
Drinks great, nice ambiance, and had a wonderful bartender! Very knowledgeable about the drink menu and sociable

AndReina V.

Yelp
High turnover rate never the same managers or bartenders. Owners talk about employees behind their backs to other employees and people quit after one day because of poor leadership and ownership. Employees don't get any sort of meal discounts and if a patron leaves without paying then the bartender must cover the tab otherwise the owner takes it from their paychecks. Rooftop bar doesn't have proper permit to operate but they operate it anyway. Not sure how they are still open. As you can see a majority of the reviews are terrible, it's no wonder why. If things were consistent and employees were treated with respect this establishment could be a wonderful place. Whatever you do don't try getting a job here unless you're an illegal immigrant- you will regret it

Lisa H.

Yelp
Horiffic service and attitude from the bartender and server both. They had no non alcohol beverages except "coke products" who doesn't have ice tea?,we ordered a grilled cheese and non alcohol beer .seconds later she gives us the check and wants us to pay immediately before we even get our food.they said it was because they thought we were going to leave without paying..super insulting!! I was a waitress and bartender for most of my life and this is some you NEVER do to a customer .unless you want them to leave .the food came ...white wonder bread with barely melted cheese..worst crap ever!! We were meeting a friend and wanted to order another non alcohol drink and some cheese sticks the server said "sure" and then sat down to look at her phone...finally the bartender took our order ..those were not melted either...the cook I guess was in hurry to get us out too? I also noticed that no other table or the couple next to us had been asked to pay before getting any of thier food ..so we were profiled as dine and dashers!! It was super insulting the waitstaff and bartender gave off really bad,un welcoming vibes.. the food and service was crap and I will never go here again..worst place I have been in a long time.if these people working there hate it so much and are so miserable and treat customers like this ..they should get other jobs.we left a 20% tip..so this wasn't a bad excuse to not tip..but it definitely was not deserved.!!! Unbelievable!!!

Yelp
They put an overwhelming amount of jalapeño on the burger it's soggy and heart burn spicy even if you take off the ridiculous amount of jalapeños there is alot of seeds left stuck in the cheese. I took a few bites and could not eat it. The waitress asked if I wanted a jalapeño burger w no jalapeños in in a funny tone... I was confused at the fact that they didn't understand that this amount of jalapeño is over the top. She said she could replace it then a dude came out and said no they wouldn't remake it. They already took the burger away so I had to ask for them to take it off the check. Then the man replied to my request like--sure I'll do you that favor. Be careful w the jalapeños here maybe ask for it on the side bc if you don't like it your SOL.

Yelp
This was originally Burgers & Brew which closed last year so you should ignore all reviews older than 6-months. It's the same building but completely new ownership, staff, menu, and beer. The place looks really cool inside, but none of the brewing equipment is in use so all beers are commercial or from other breweries. The open/closed hours are inconsistent and do not always follow their advertised times. 1-month ago I visited, they were short staffed (3 peeps behind the bar, 2-3 in kitchen), it took 10 min to get water and a drink order-in, the bar was below 20% capacity) Now on a Friday at 7:30PM, restaurant was below 20% cap with 4-5 people behind the bar, owner in the house and 3-4 in the kitchen area. No one said hello, offered water, or took a drink order from me for more 15-20 min. I just sat there and waited. Busy-is-busy, but this was just bad. I hope this place gets it together soon, this is too cool of a space to ignore local or traveling customers.

Yelp
Pretty excited to walk past this location while on lunch break. I usually visit the R street location but seating is limited there. There are ample seatings here. The restaurant has 3 levels... downstairs is the brew house and they offer patio seating upstairs. Very cute!! Service was good. We were greeted immediately upon arrival as it wasn't packed on a Friday afternoon. I ordered my typical - pastrami burger and fries. Yum-o!!!

Yelp
Skylar and Mario were great !!! Skylar kept us there all night with her music selection (: Great customer service

Yelp
I'll be honest, I come for the burgers. Their burgers here are some of my favorite in sac. I do live right around the corner, so this place is my go-to! If you like beer, get excited. They have so much to choose from its crazy. The staff are always quick and helpful. Even when packed busy, they will still be friendly. Cooks, I don't know what you're doing back there, but keep it up! Anytime a friend visits and says burger sounds good, I take them here and have never been disappointed. It's always been clean every time I've visited. Great place to watch a game and eat good food.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come check out the newly renovated building and also the rooftop patio at Burgers & Brewhouse. My friend had suggested that we should go for Sunday Brunch, so we did! A plus is that they were serving Bottomless Mimosas from 9am-1pm, which paired perfectly with the cold weather, Brunch and all the Sunday football games. Since there weren't that many customers at the time we arrived, our server was very accommodating at letting us choose where to sit at. We were so indecisive because we had six people, wanted to get a great view of the tv on the patio (which was only in the bar area), but finally he suggested to put us along the wall, which is the absolute perfect spot. Our server was absolutely awesome at keeping the bottomless mimosas coming! We arrived around 12:00pm and the restaurant started getting busier around 2:00pm. So he got really busy around that time and came back a little slower than we first arrived, but we didn't mind because it was the time we were leaving anyway. On the rooftop patio, they have outdoor heaters above for those who get cold or need a little bit of warming up. Since it was a beautiful sunny Sunday morning, we really didn't need them on, even though it was chilly outside, because the sunshine warmed us up really quick on the rooftop! I had ordered the Fried Eggs sandwich with a side of Mixed Salad. My Grilled Cheese and Egg sandwich was served on a delicious extra toasted Brioche Bun with sautéed spinach, avocado, tomato, and bacon. I'm not a huge meat eater in the mornings, so the slices of bacon were absolutely perfect and not overwhelming! It totally hit the spot and I think next time, I'll try it with some soup to top off more flavor! Just a Tip: A couple of friends went to the Burgers & Brew location on R Street. I guess it could be a little confusing when you're from out of town. So when preplanning your meet-up or event, specify that this location is on "J" Street and not "R".

Yelp
This place was great really. The service was good, the food quality was high, food came out quick, the beer selection is vast, and the food tasted good. The Irish fries have a lot of jalapenos and mainly just taste like cheese and bacon. They are tasty, but not my favorite. The sweet potato fries are lovely, especially with ranch. The only thing I would change is the amount of bathrooms for the size of the place (I only saw 2). They are also co-ed, therefore the toilet seats might not be as clean. But in the bathrooms they have the game broadcasting the audio. It can help you stay on top of what's going on. The T.V.'s are all around, and pretty big. The establishment itself is very nice and has a good feel. It's great for "burgers" and "brew."

Yelp
This place is pretty good both times that I've been here. -Nice rooftop area, basement has game area. The rooftop doesn't have much of a view. -I haven't tried the burgers; friends told me they were "okay". I had a tofu salad which I liked. -Service has been prompt and attentive. -Large selection of brews if you're into beer. -They have a nice brunch selection and it's not busy on Sundays. Bottomless mimosas available. I enjoyed their French toast. -If you get fries DEFINITELY get the jalapeno mayo to dip it in. Simple but delicious. -The place overall is fun, lots of tvs for sports, great for large groups, does get a bit noisy.

Yelp
Solid Performance For My Dairy-Challenged Cousin (AND Delicious Food As Well) SITREP After the recent Midtown Second Saturday festivities wound down by 10:30pm, my cousin Dale F. and myself were looking for a late night "hangout" where we could grab a drink and get a late dinner (since we didn't have time before all the *oonze oonze*'ing started up in Midtown). As we wandering down I Street, I realized we were coming up on Burgers & Brewhouse ("Brewhouse") and opted to steer us here (and away from Streets of London, at least on this occasion) since neither of us had hit this spot yet. THE SETUP When we arrived, we got a bit of a run-around with the downstairs staff (mid-level) and the upstairs staff - their communication didn't seem to be in sync, and there always seems to be the "plausible deniability"-factor in which level-staff actually heard a request or statement, it being very easy to deny responsibility by saying, "It was probably the other station that was supposed to be seating you." But after about 7-8 minutes, we were a "go" for a table on the upstairs patio, and it being a nice, cool night out at this point (closing in on 11pm), it was a welcome alternative than being inside. ESTABLISHMENT METRICS * Absolutely gorgeous furnishings * Full, long bars * Multiple taps * Beautiful picture windows looking over the brew tanks It makes wandering around the Brewhouse a sightseeing-spectacle! DIETARY RESTRICTIONS Once seated, we perused the menu, and this is where it becomes a struggle for my cousin Dale since he is lactose-intolerant (ie. allergic to all dairy products). [It's his reality - he didn't ask to have dairy-allergies, but he DOES, so we have to find the best ways to deal with it. To be blunt about the issue, this not only means avoiding obvious dairy food items such as cheese, milk, creamy sauces, etc., but it ALSO means doing your best to avoid more INSIDIOUS items: 1. making sure that food items are not cooked in butter; 2. getting assurances that other products do not contain dairy inside them or prepared with dairy, such as: bread, onion rings, breaded mushrooms and green beans, etc. etc. And everything I just mentioned now in the last sentence at most places DOES have dairy in it whether you knew it or not. NEW PLACE, NEWISH STAFF VS. SEASONED MANAGER As expected at a newer spot, you are going to have newer - and sometimes VERY young - staff who may not have a sufficient knowledge base on how to address these issues because they may never have heard of it before, and a server may honestly not know what the food preparations are for their restaurant. Where I have to give the Brewhouse the most props is in the floor manager wandering around the patio-rooftop where we were seated, coming up to tables, and asking patrons how things were going. Dale had just shared his usual litany of lactose-concerns with the server, who dutifully went off to the kitchen to ask the questions of the cooks. However, the manager wandered our way and she was a very knowledgeable and delightfully proactive resource for Dale to understand his options. Just in their short discussion, the manager instructed Dale to avoid all of the fried foods, and they would make their traditional hamburger in a lettuce wrap for him! *BINGO* That worked well for him (and an hour or two later he was still feeling very good, so we knew at that point that the menu options he selected were on the up-and-up). [You'll notice he still risked the french fries because usually the footprint of dairy if in fries is very minimal.] https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burgers-and-brewhouse-sacramento-2?select=2n2epOqI9U8lmeJCNvbTMw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w [Of course, as if to rub it in, since I don't have a dairy-challenged, I enjoyed my Aged-Cheddar Cheeseburger and greasy-buttery breaded Onion Rings with great delight!] https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burgers-and-brewhouse-sacramento-2?select=5wok_lvbWK4JgkXK_O7yRA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE BEER! There's NO DAIRY in our Stout Beer and so that was something we could both enjoy together! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/burgers-and-brewhouse-sacramento-2?select=yqa2YCdkejV8_M_qm3sZqQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE LOWDOWN A very pleasant burger stop at the Brewhouse!

Yelp
Decided to give this location a shot this past Sunday. The place was empty but we decided we wanted to hit that rooftop! Let's get to it . I ordered a grapefruit drink (2.9%) super light it was delicious and I also wanted to hit something basic because how can that go wrong. Cheese burger it was. I also ordered some curly garlic fries and they were the best at the table for sure. The perfect amount of garlic. My burger was ... basic for $11 I don't think I'll be be doing that again. The ambiance was cool the place was clean and service was acceptable. Parking is free Sunday *tip* find a spot and jump bike it .

Yelp
The original Burgers & Brew has remained a solid establishment over the years, and because they've now widely expanded within the Sacramento area, we had high expectations for their new addition, Burgers & Brewhouse...but unfortunately left extremely disappointed after our visit here. Burgers & Brewhouse boasts the same burger and food menu as the original, but differs in that it showcases their own beer created on-site as Sacrament Brewing. The location is novel to Sacramento in that it is three stories, with a rooftop bar to boot! Being just opened, we did not expect all the kinks to be smoothed out yet. However, our patience was stretched thin when there were so many issues that may have been prevented with better management and training. The main objective of our initial visit was to check out the rooftop bar. The top floor doesn't officially open until 6:30pm, so we had to wait...and were still waiting by the hostess area without any updates after 6:30pm...and then 6:45pm...of note, it was very, very hot and uncomfortable despite sitting inside; not sure if the AC was off or broken. Another group was allowed upstairs first, but we were ignored despite sitting alongside them and being next on the waiting list. Eventually, an employee mentioned we could walk up next, but a pair of girls who were not on the list but who approached and told the staff they wanted to go to the roof top were led upstairs BEFORE us! By the time we reached the top, the employee who seated them (who was supposed to seat us first) was gone and we were left wondering if we needed to seat ourselves or wait to be seated...as again, no one acknowledged our presence. Finally, we caught someone's attention and were seated. Our waiter brought three waters to our table, despite there being four people, and we had to request one more when one was not readily provided. One of the few saving graces was that the food actually came out fairly quickly, surprising given the poor service and high level of disorganization. The boyfriend did note that his burger was a bit undercooked despite requesting it to be medium, and we had to redirect a few servers who were about to give our burgers to a different table. Two of the Sacrament Brewing beers that our group ordered were completely out, and yet our bill wasn't adjusted for the alternatives that we chose (certain beers cost slightly more than others). Overall, our experience left much to be desired! While I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt for being so new, there was a stark contrast in service compared to another recently opened business in town, and Burgers & Brew is not new to the restaurant game. The food was as expected, and could be obtained on R Street - the pull here is for the trendy and modern three-story building and beer brewed on-site. I would consider stopping by again to just grab a drink and enjoy the different floors, especially the roof, but I hope their AC is at least working next time!

Yelp
I was wondering why the newest B&B location had such a low rating considering it seems to be a Sacramento staple.... but I think I agree with it, after our first visit. We arrived on a Saturday at lunch time and the place was pretty empty. We sat inside because it was already pretty warm out, so we will have to check out the rooftop seating another time. There were way more workers than there were guests, but at least we were taken care of right away and food came out quickly. The menu is the same as the other locations, so don't let the name change fool you. I was never a huge fan of the burgers like others are, but I was craving a burger and we were nearby so I thought we would come for lunch. I ordered the bacon fusion burger, how could you go wrong with a beef patty infused with bacon?! It was a pretty sight when it came out, with those garlic curly fries, but the taste was so underwhelming. My patty was more like medium well to well done, pair that with a dry hard bun, and you get a really dry burger. At least those curly fries were super yummy but it just wasn't a plate worth $13. I'd only come back if I was in the mood to check out the rooftop patio, but you won't see me coming here the next time I'm craving a burger.

Yelp
The rooftop bar was pretty nice but you can't eat up there nor bring drinks down to the restaurant. The server was nice but forgot to place our order for the mozzarella sticks and our food got here before our appetizer did. The food was average. The mozzarella sticks were good though.

Yelp
I came here with a large group of 11 and it wasn't busy at all when we came in. We sat inside on the main floor because it was a bit cold to sit on out on the rooftop but I will definitely have to come back and check it out!! There's plenty of seating of course! There are larger tables downstairs in the basement area. Our server was very kind and accommodating. A few of my friends sampled a couple of the beers... the danky doodle and the rapture I believe? They ended up ordering those too. My boyfriend and I shared the smoked aged cheddar burger and upgraded our fries to the New England fries. The fries are bomb!!! Definitely upgrade your fries with your burger because it's cheaper than just ordering a specialty fries. The portions are very big and filling!

Yelp
Midtown Gastrobar is a nice takeover from Burgers & Brews if you're a Sacramentan like me so you don't miss the brewery experience it's just a bit more heightened! Rachael hit the nose on the head with the amazing Pineapple Passion Fruit Cider made by Passport Cider! Perfectly sweet and unforgettable! Peach Berry Cider is more tart but smells sweet like it could be a sister of a cranberry! Raspberry Lambic was luscious and lovely as well!

Yelp
As a fan of the Burgers and Brew location in Davis, it was only natural I try their location off J street in Sacramento's Midtown district. Out of all the Burgers and Brews, I like this one the most because it is the largest. There's the basement, ground floor and rooftop. You can even check out all the brewing magic going on in the basement so that itself is worth the visit! I ordered the spicy guacamole burger and curly fries and my friend got a sandwich and a salad. My burger was cooked exactly how I wanted it which is great because a lot of places tend to overcook medium rare orders. I really appreciate how they offer a variety of sides from beer battered onion rings to garlic fries, but I always go with their classic curly fries and they never disappoint. My friend and I split a pitcher of the Frisky Blonde and it was very crisp and clean with slight grainy flavors so I would recommend that for a pitcher because it was very easy and smooth to drink. The waiters weren't overbearing but were there when we needed them. I would come back to this location because I really industrial interior showcasing the brewing equipment and has spacious the place is with three floors. Burgers and Brewhouse is definitely a fun place to have burgers and brew with friends!

Yelp
Okay, I have always liked burgers and brew. I started out in Davis and that's when my love of higher end burgers began. Yum When I moved to Sacramento I was really sad that the R street one was the only one that was here. Then they opened to one at the Firehouse and now this one! This revived my excitement for Burgers and Brew in Sacramento. It has my favorite* a roof top sitdown for the evenings. Opens at 6pm. They offer the crunchy and delicious burgers of burgers and brew. I have not tried the beers here yet. The ambiance is great, it has great decor for our times and would be a great lunch or dinner place for a date or family hangout night. Good location, good set-up, and so far great food! I was happy. My photo is spicy guac burger with curly fries!

Yelp
Walked in very hungry and pretty thirsty as we had a busy day at a youth track meet- not busy at all- yay!! Two bartenders working. One guy was chatting with some guests while my boyfriend sat at the bar and I went to the bathroom. I used the bathroom and freshened up. When I walked back out to my boyfriend he said, "not a single person has walked over here yet". I sat down and smiled at the female bartender who continued to walk around the bar checking in other guests. She walked past us twice. The other male bartender was still chatting with the same guest he was chatting with when we first walked in. We sat for a few minutes and decided to check out a different brewery/sports bar. There are far too many options in this town to settle for a place that doesn't seem to want your business. Perhaps they could tell we were out of towners. From one industry professional to another, I won't be back.

Yelp
Got to this place and we went to the bar to order food and drinks, we were standing there for I kid you not 30min during those 30min we asked a worker who was picking up dishes if we were supposed to order there at the bar because literally no one asked to take our order, he said yeah give us a min... more times passed a blonde girl then looked at us and said she'd be with us in a min she was taking sooooooo long to do everything by that time it was 30min that we had been waiting and STILL no one took our order. And NO it was not busy one bit. We left. Don't waste your time at the place it's the worst service I have ever witnessed. Absolutely terrible, the people working here have no type of customer service or work ethic.

Yelp
**Owner tried to take my already touched food to another guest!** I haven't written a review in a long time, but my terrible experience here the other night compels me to do so. My friends had all received their food and I was still waiting for mine, so I asked the owner who was delivering to another table next to me. He assured me that he would go check on it and didn't return for over five minutes, so I inquired with another server passing by. He promptly brought a burger to me. As I was pressing the burger together with my hands to take my first bite, the owner returned. Before a word was out of his mouth, his hand was on my plate pulling it away from me and told me that "it was someone else's burger, not mine". My friends and I all quickly stated that I had already eaten fries and touched the burger. With his hand still on the plate pulling away, he repeated, "Don't worry I will put new fries on for the guest but this is not yours". I kept repeating that I had TOUCHED the burger and he did not hesitate while repeating "It's okay. This is not yours. I will put new fries and it's okay for them". Obviously, I refused to let him take the plate because I did not want him to serve another guest an already touched burger. He openly rolled his eyes and then turned to leave. This is actually extremely disturbing as a guest because who else has he done this to before this incident? He obviously has NO awareness of food safety and completely brushed it off as if it were nothing. I will NEVER return to this location.

Yelp
This is still owned by the same people of Burgers and Brew. They just renamed it and changed the menu just enough to make it a rebrand. Owners are still rude and service is appalling but that's probably because the owners take tips from the tip pool and regular harass their own staff while they get stupid drunk. It's kinda wild that they haven't gotten in trouble for it, yet.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick bite and a beer. I expected more variety since its a Brewhouse, maybe there was more on the other floors? Idk. We ordered a burger and we asked for medium cook and it was a little on the medium well side. The fries were great and the beer complemented the meal perfectly! This is a great place for casual dining. It is HUGE, three floors. They even have games. Just heads up the big jenga tumbles down and slams onto the ground LOUDLY. I'd like to check it out for happy hour sometime.
