I have never written a Yelp review before, but feel compelled to warn people about my horrific experience. My mother's Primary care physician quit her private practice and joined this one. For some reason, none of my mom's medical history followed. My mother is 86, disabled and was just released from the hospital from having the flu. The discharge orders prescribed an inhaler and nebulizer to assist her breathing, but unfortunately, did not provide the actual prescription. The assisted living facility where she resides attempted without success to obtain these from the pharmacy, and was unable unless a prescription was obtained from her primary care physician.
I called Midtown Medical to explain the situation, and to request a prescription be sent to the pharmacy right away. I was told that my mother would need to be seen, and they offered an appointment. I asked why this was necessary because my mother is weak with the flu, unable to get in and out of the car, and would need transportation to the appointment. They said they did not have her current medication list and she would need to be seen. I reluctantly agreed.
We arrived at 10:10 for a 10:45 appointment. Unfortunately, the transport service did not notice that my mother did not bring her wallet with her picture id and insurance information, so I made arrangements to have the assisted living facility fax it over, while we completed the paperwork. Around 10:30, we were told that we would need to reschedule because we were told to arrive early to complete the paperwork and we weren't ready, even though our appointment was fifteen minutes away. They did, interestingly offer to write the prescription without being seen. This angered me because that is not what I was told when I first called. I told them that it is a lot of trouble to get my mom there and that we expected to be seen.
They declined, which upset me greatly, causing me to raise my voice, and made it impossible to contain my outrage. This offended THEM, so I said, fine just provide the prescription. To which they said no, we don't care for the way our staff has been treated by you, so find another provider. They fired us!
I took a seat in the lobby and made arrangements for my mother to be picked up, and a few minutes later, Juan, their security guard asked if there was a problem, I said, yes my mom needs to be seen, are you going to help us. He said no, he wanted to know why we were still there. I explained we were waiting for my mom's transportation, and asked Juan, what if my mom starts gasping for air and passes out in the Lobby, would she be seen, and he said no, that's what the hospital next door is for!
Needless to say I would not go there ever again, even if I were dying, because they would make the last moments of my life even more miserable! I am seriously considering pursuing legal action. Any attorneys out there?
