The 16 Best Restaurants In Newport, Rhode Island - Newport - The Infatuation

"Midtown Oyster Bar is a vast raw bar castle. There’s a ton of room for groups with a bunch of different spaces: the main downstairs dining room, the upstairs dining room, the upstairs bar resembling an Irish pub, and the upstairs outdoor terrace. We like it outside where towers of Rhode Island oysters, raw clams, and a couple of quahog stuffies hit just right on a nice day. It’s one of the best places for lunch in town, but it would totally work for a dinner where you get dressed up and eat oysters from five different Rhode Island port cities." - danielle rose, carlo mantuano

We came here based on a friend’s recommendation, and I’m so glad we did! Even though the restaurant was packed, we were seated within seconds of walking in (around 5 PM). The raw oysters and clams were fresh and delicious, but the lobster roll blew me away. It was warm, juicy, and loaded with a generous amount of lobster meat👌🏼 Will definitely come back for another roll. Highly recommend!

Google
Very nice, missing the live music though. We’ve gone a few times in recent years, and the food is always outstanding, as is the service. The dishes always look and taste sensational. Would recommend.

Google
Just superb oysters. Turns out the whole menu is pretty great but we went for oysters and they were the best. Descriptions were perfect. Even the size was correctly discussed and they were perfectly shucked. We sat at the bar and Valerie was perfection in a bartender. Great advice and fun to chat with. We returned the next night for more oysters. We will go any time we’re in Newport.

Google
The char grill octopus was so delicious!!! As well as everything else. The clams, oysters and beets salad. We loved it all

Google
Best octopus I ever had. French onion soup was excellent. All the food was great! Great service!

Google
First time around the area, and I saw this place on the drive-in. Quiet for a Monday night, service was amazing, and the food was great. Made a reservation to be safe, got seated right away, and offered water and menu. There are lots of options for alcohol over food. The food menu is the average size offering cousin and chickpeas salad. Had the grilled octopus and French onion soups, so good I wanted more. Grill salmon looked fresh. The wicked shirmp was amazing! I wish I had more shirmp or bread to eat it up. The only thing I might complain about is the noise above, but if i were here long, I'd come back again.

Google
10/10 experience. Get the dozen oysters. I ordered off the raw menu and appetizers a lot and I don’t regret it. The seafood is fresh and tasty. Sit at the patio if you can or any seat upstairs.

Google
Travellers, this is an outstanding seafood restaurant and raw bar right in downtown Newport. The atmosphere is lovely, exactly as you expect in a seafood restaurant. The raw oysters were delicious and fat. The linguini and clam sauce with pancetta is wonderful. The pasta is perfectly cooked and the clams were perfectly cooked too. This is a must if visiting Newport. Enjoy the fun of Thames street and have dinner in the midtown oyster bar. Check it out. We recommend.

Yelp
Halibut was light and delicious. Side Caesar salad was delightful Pumpkin spice espresso martini was ok, wouldn't get it again. Portsmouth Oysters were amazing

Yelp
Service was great, ambiance was fine. Appetizers of Clams and Beet Salad were excellent, and the side dishes were excellent.. However, booth of our main dishes were overcooked. My wife's Fluke was hard to cut!!! WAY overcooked. And my Scallops were rubbery. We mentioned that the fist was overcooked to the waitress, who went and "talked to the chef". She came back and said "it's just a firm fish". Any fish should be able to be cut easily with a fork, but my wife had to SAW through the fluke.

Yelp
We've been living here for three years, and we finally had the opportunity to visit Midtown Oyster Bar! We kicked off our meal with Oysters Rockefeller, which were so delicious that we ended up ordering a second round! I chose the lobster roll paired with a side salad instead of fries, and the house vinaigrette was fantastic! However, the lobster roll was disappointingly dry, lacking the butter that the menu promised--perhaps it was simply overlooked, or maybe it was due to my choice of salad? Once I added a side of hot butter to my lobster roll, it tasted much better! Our waitress was incredibly kind and did her best to manage her busy section. With the ambiance and charm of a traditional seafood restaurant, we had high expectations, and they certainly delivered! The decor reminded me of a ship and perfected with the dimmed lighting. We might come here again! We will definitely need to compare some of the other places though first before we return.

Yelp
We had a dinner reservation but decided to have dinner a little earlier. We were seating right away. The staff were really nice to us. The service was great. We ordered three dishes. The oyster Rockefeller was delicious. It was probably the best we've ever had! The clam linguine was also very good. There were plenty of clams with the pasta. The fish was also very good. We left full and very happy.

Yelp
Items ordered: Cod tacos, French fries, and a Diet Coke The Review: On the verge of passing out on an abnormally hot day, we were desperate for a quality refueling. I am so glad that we popped into Midtown Oyster Bar out of desperation. Not only did they have a ton of gluten-free options, their staff were so accommodating and kind with questions about the food (not related to dietary reasons). Though presentation was a bit lacking for the price, the food was SOLID. The cod is local and was perfectly spiced, well-accompanied by the slaw. The fries were definitely way too salty, but earn points (in my heart) because they were perfectly fried and crispy. All things considered, I would totally go back to Midtown!

Yelp
We made reservations as Newport is busy in the summer with tourism. We sat outside, which had a nice view. We ordered oysters, scallop crudo, and drinks. Oysters were great and they had a nice selection to choose from. My favorite was the scallop crudo. The scallops melted in my mouth. Service was great and timely even though it started getting busier. This location is not right by the harbor and street parking is difficult to find. We parked a couple blocks away, but the walk is a nice way to walk off the food.

Julianne H.

Yelp
Avoid this establishment! Unfriendly service, snooty and uncompromising management and overpriced. We were finishing a week long stay in Newport and had a bottle of wine to finish before our departure. So, like a lot of adults, we brought our bottle with us certainly expecting a corkage fee. We were not allowed to have our own wine at this so called restaurant.

Yelp
This was a super cute place to stop in for lunch. They were able to get our party of 11 sat immediately which was great. The service was quick and friendly. The food was decent. I had the Mahi-mahi sandwich. It was a little bland but overall a decent dish. I might just try something else next time!

Yelp
We had reservations tonight at another restaurant, but after visiting my friend Aurelia and her husband earlier in the day, we switched to Midtown Oyster Bar on their recommendation. Tim and I ordered cocktails, an old-fashioned for him and an extra dirty martini for me. Tim appreciated the large cube in his drink, and I loved the stemless martini glass. Both cocktails were on point. If you like bourbons, their bar has a very good selection. We started out sharing the smoked bluefish dip as an appetizer. I have no idea what bluefish is, but this dip was so good with that smoky flavor. The dip was served with basic saltine crackers. I ordered the baked cod with an herb crumb topping. It comes with truffle fries, but I opted for the roasted carrots instead. The cod was so moist, tender and flaky. It just fell apart. The roasted carrots were a great choice as they were charred yumminess. My husband had the grilled strip steak with potatoes and asparagus for his entrée. He asked for his steak to be cooked medium rare, but it was served more on the medium side and unfortunately also had some tough tendons in the steak making it chewy at times. Great flavor, though. Tim and I shared our entrées to get a little taste of what the other ordered. I think I definitely had the winner with the cod. I loved the atmosphere at this restaurant, plenty of seating both inside and out. Our server Marta was great at providing attentive service, too. If you're into oysters, this is the place. Their oyster selection and raw bar have many selections. I'm glad we made the switch to dine at Midtown Oyster last minute - even with the mishap on my husband's steak - we enjoyed it.

Yelp
Stopped by this place as it was recommended by several locals . It is supposed to be authentic and decently priced . We had the fish stew and the swordfish and the salmon as an appetizer as well as some oysters . It was all very delicious as well as the cocktails . The staff was very pleasant , it was a pretty good experience oysters are fresh !The place is big lot of seating it's a laid back atmosphere and they have a very cute rooftop which is where we sat . Great for people watching !I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area .

Yelp
We spent $950 Christmas Eve for mediocre food at best and terrible service. We had 5:30pm reservations for 12 people and on the phone they said they served until 8pm, after we were seated the waitress informed us the kitchen closes at 6pm so order quickly. It was all downhill from there. Food was mediocre at best, the tuna poke bowl had absolutely no flavor, chicken was dry, steak was flavorless, everything was rushed, no salt and pepper on the table, no ketchup or other sauces, no bread or crackers. The bar closed early and we didn't have time to order bottles of wine so we did save another few hundred dollars on drinks. The waitress was more busy doing side work than waiting on us (left her a $150 tip) Granted it was Christmas Eve and they all wanted to leave but tell us that before we made the reservation. Maybe a fluke, but Too many other great restaurants in Newport to try instead of risking it again here.

Yelp
Awesome food. Excellent service. The scenery is amazing. I love this restaurant, highly recommend it

Yelp
Stopped here for an appetizer and some drinks. Both bars were full but got a seat facing the bar. The drinks were done well. We for two oyster shooters which were reasonably priced and really great. We also got the octopus which was decent as well not my favorite though. The atmosphere is cool and interesting. The waitress was nice and friendly. If I lived her I would stop for a drink and some oysters!

Yelp
Midtown Oyster Bar was the first restaurant I visited without a wait on a weekend night during dinner time so I decided to try it (although I believe I went here years ago but too long ago to remember how it was). I'm not sure if it's a Newport thing but for some reason none of the restaurants I walked into were welcoming or friendly, and typically I give people a chance since the restaurant industry is tough. The hostess here was nice enough but to be quite honest our server was not very friendly. Not as bad as how I felt interacting with the hostesses the Red Parrot who were blatantly rude that it was shocking, but just not friendly and didn't seem to care that we were there. We got caesar salad to start which was a normal caesar salad, nothing crazy. We probably should have tried the oysters since it is an oyster bar and Rhode Island has great oysters but decided to try other things. We got the spicy seafood pasta and the scallops with risotto. The seafood pasta was okay, not very spicy and the sauce was okay. It came with shrimp, mussels and clams which was great and the pappardelle pasta seemed homemade but they didn't give enough actual pasta in my opinion. The risotto and scallops were cooked well but not enough flavor to me. I think this place is probably better off as a raw bar and maybe the fried seafood like calamari is better, but the actual entrees were not anything special. I will say the key lime pie for dessert was incredible and tied the whole meal together. Overall, I think if you're getting a few drinks and some oysters this place is solid (which is probably what it is supposed to be for), but the regular entrees were pretty mid and service was also mid tier considering how unfriendly it was. Not a terrible place but I probably would not come back unless it was only for oysters.

Yelp
The outside dining area was very nice and our waitress was kind and attentive. The wine was good and well priced. The smoked fish dip with naan was great but it was the only great thing about the dinner honestly. The lobster was cooked well however it said it was "butter poached" but, I did not taste a drop of butter. The roll was too thick and dry for the amount of lobster on the roll. The crab and shrimp duo was fine but, rather small and lacked seasoning. Wanted to love it here because of the atmosphere but it was just a miss for the price

Yelp
I stopped by midtown oyster bar on a Saturday for lunch. This was my first time eating oysters and our waitress was very helpful explaining the menu and provided recommendations! We ordered 6 different oysters and split a lobster roll. The oysters were fresh and the lobster roll was warm and buttery.

Yelp
Newport is Newport because of the experience at midtown Oyster Bar. Exceptional Service and the selection of shellfish is exceptional. "So Fresh" Can't wait to return!

Yelp
In town for work and couldn't help but try to get some good seafood while I'm here. This place is recommended to me by a couple of people and was very close to my hotel. Given I was eating alone, I decided to do a walk-in and was fortunate to be able to be seated right when I got there. To start I got four of the island Cove oysters, which were the only ones that were local. For my entrée, I decided to get the halibut which came with fingerling potatoes and beans. I also got a glass of the house Sauvignon Blanc. The server greeted me within minutes of sitting down and was quick to get my drink started. Once I placed my order, the oysters came out shortly after. I thought they were absolutely delicious. Very fresh and had a nice meaty texture to them. I felt like the halibut dish was OK. The person who brought the food out at first seem confused and actually took it to two other places first. It was also missing the sauce so they had to take it back to the kitchen and add it. I actually wouldn't have known the difference if she didn't say it had no sauce. The fish was a bit overdone which dried it out. Though the sides it came with were perfectly cooked and delicious. Maybe the pressure was high given it was my first meal in Newport, and the bar was high for seafood. If I was to come back, I probably would just get a dozen or two of the oysters and enjoy a nice beverage with it.

Yelp
Excellent lunch with friendly service on a busy holiday weekend Sunday. Pretty crowded but we were able to snag 2 seats at the bar where the entire regular menu and raw bar menu are available. Bartender who acted as our server was friendly and attentive. He's a graduate student a the local university and is a pleasure to talk with. Lobster bisque and cod cheek wrap were both really good. Carrot cake dessert ( tasted more like a spice cake) was really good. Did not try any cocktails or beer. Prices were not unreasonable given location and meal quality. Definitely enjoyed the experience and would recommend this restaurant.

Evan B.

Yelp
Good service. The martini was good. The chopped Caesar salad, and the tuna tartar tacos are okay. However, the $38 entree special - seafood paella, which the server highly recommended to me - was not good at all. A key characteristic of paella is rice cooked al dente, golden brown and crispy at the bottom. However, there was very little rice in the dish, and the rice was soggy, and the whole dish was way too soupy. I was very disappointed in the entree. I would go back for their drinks but not for food.

Yelp
While in Newport, stopped into Midtown for lunch. Cool homey vibe as you walk in with a variety of seating options in dining area and bar. Hostess and waitstaff were all friendly and provided prompt service! We opted for a lighter fare getting a few appetizers, some drinks, and soup. The oysters and my Cosmo were my favorite! I really enjoyed those. Cosmo was perfectly balanced and strong. The oysters Rockefeller were fresh and flavorful too! The tuna tacos were just okay, some avocado would have helped. Soup was good but not a ton of lobster in it. It had nice flavor though. We did not try any bigger meals or dessert. Definitely would come back for more oysters when in the area!

Cathy W.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the atmosphere is very cozy. We loved that they had warm lobster rolls with butter instead of lobster salad.
google avatar

Nian Z.

Yelp
Unfortunately, mostly mediocre food. Especially the appetizers. Calamari was mostly fine, just the sauce was so overpowering. Mussels were tiny, the broth was pure alcohol taste so it felt like we were drinking this whole meal, plus the fries were soaked into the soup and we were all like whatttt. Aren't the fries normally on the side? I don't want soggy wine fries :o For entrees, the fish tacos were good but only two tacos! That's just a really sad lunch...Fish and chips platter also came with two pieces of fish but they were much larger in comparison. It was juicy but not tasty, overall. We opted to swap out regular fries for truffle fries for +$3 but don't make that mistake because those were definitely NOT truffle fries. I was looking forward to the lobster roll but the lobster was so mushy and just didn't taste good :/

Yelp
This place is a gem. Two bars. A raw bar. Fantastic service. The Wicked Shrimp is an 11 out of 10. The broth the shrimp are poached in is out of this world. Come here for a traditional entree or a tapas style meal.
google avatar

Renee S.

Yelp
Busy place, I would recommend making a reservation. We enjoyed our dinner on the 2nd floor. The giant flags hanging over head, was a nice touch. And candles glowing on each table. The bar on the ground floor had an older crowd & the bar upstairs seemed to be filled with a younger crowd. Service was great! Would highly recommended.
google avatar

Rad S.

Yelp
Still absolutely terrible staff is beyond rude and the food is awful. Just walking in you can smell the rotting fish.
google avatar

Monique W.

Yelp
Eh. The service was fine, drinks as expected. The view is what draws folks in. As a 7 week post gluten intolerance person, I would advise high levels of caution. We ordered the steak, after careful consideration of the menu. The description of the dish did not mention gravy... however, an hour later I cannot assuredly state that they do in fact add gravy to this dish. We ate outside in the wonderfully moody rooftop, dimly lit environment, and high meant I did. Not notice until 3-4 bites in that there was a gravy. It would have been wonderful to have had this listed in the description so that I could have alerted the server to my allergies. So here I sit, 35 minutes past leaving my partner, writing this review while they try to sort this out. I know that food allergies/ sensitivities are annoying. I do. Trust me. But, try living with this. It's literally the worst. The next three days are going to be awful, due to a simple oversight in descriptions.

Yelp
This is why I'm jealous of New England. They have places like Midtown Oyster bar from Rhode Island to Maine. A beautiful place where you can get fresh regional seafood, pull a chair up to the clam bar, easy peasy. I'm with a buddy of mine, we're at a conference all week in Newport. I told him, we have to get lobster while we're here. Lets take a walk down the hill and grab some grub. We headed straight to Midtown Oyster Bar. Walking in, it's a big restaurant. I'm not looking for a table. Gimme a chair where the action is at the raw bar. When I'm given an Oyster menu, I never know what to pick from their choices. If you know the difference between a Maine Oyster from a Long Island Oyster then you get a gold star. I told the waitress one of each please! Just spot on freshness, the bounty of the local waters. I ordered my Lobster Roll the same way as a kid, warm and buttery. No Mayo or fillers, gimme the crustacean on a toasted roll! Warm, buttered lobster on freshly baked bread. Mmmmmmm... So good! High thumbs up for Midtown Oyster Bar. Enjoy!
google avatar

Gill S.

Yelp
The oysters and the bluefish dip are the only thing worth coming here for, in their quality and selection. The smoked bluefish dip was smoky, fishy, and had crispy fresh vegetables to go with it. Their strawberry and spinach salad was pathetic. I've had better salads at fast food restaurants than what they served here. It felt like they took it straight from the food truck, then dumped it straight into my bowl. No love. No craft.

Yelp
Recently visited for dinner on a Saturday evening with a group of 6. We made a reservation ahead of time and the table when ready when we arrived. The food and drinks were delightful. Our service was fast. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!

Yelp
Holy cow this place blew our minds. We are seafood lovers and all of our dishes are delicious. Get the oysters for sure! Everything tastes fresh

Yelp
MOB is my favorite place to eat! I've been coming to the Midtown oyster bar for years. Last night, we ate there as a family with two little kids, the environment, the food, and our waitress, Shea, were amazing and we are already looking forward to returning. Thank you!
google avatar

Christine J.

Yelp
Service at this restaurant was very poor. Granted totally understand being busy.. but we waited 25 minutes for someone to take a drink order. Then an additional 20 minutes for our food order. 45 minutes without anything in short. Once food came we weren't checked in on for a long time. My friend wanted more oysters and we had long finished our food waiting an additional 15 minutes for anyone to notice. I quickly asked for the checks when she reordered more food considering we didn't know when we would see anyone again. Oysters were not well cleaned lots of shell in each bite. Kept having to spit it out. Sadly just didn't like the experience overall. Lobster roll was good not life changing. Oysters would've been better if more cleaned. If it's a shortage problem of waiters or waitresses then the owners need to step up and have more people waiting the floor.

Yelp
Solid spot in a great location. We arrived early for a reservation and were pleased to have been seated outside on the upper level despite the restaurant appearing very busy. We loved our cocktails, appetizers, and dessert. Service was very friendly and prompt. The only thing that fell kind our short were our entrees. They were not served hot and the skin on my gosh special could have been crispier. Overall, though, I would most definitely go back. The Saquish oysters were the best I've ever had, and the smoked fish dip with crudite was delicious as well. The homemade bread pudding with ginger ice cream was exceptional!
google avatar

Mitch S.

Yelp
The reason this is a 3 star review is my complaints about the $34 lobster roll entree. Skimpy portion of lobster on a roll that wasn't toasted or steamed or even heated. The combination of these 2 issues caused the sandwich to be dry with not enough lobster to bread ratio. There were only 2 decent bites here. I needed to call this out because I would expect more from Panera in a lobster roll honestly. Beyond this the experience was good. I ordered the Burgee Lemonade which was good. I ordered some assorted cold bar clams which were fresh and served with a tasty mignonette which I found somewhat unique from other restaurants which I enjoyed. Server was very professional. Fish dishes I tasted from my party were tasty.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Food isn't bad, but nothing to go to town about. The service was quick and attentive. The food was overpriced and lacked interesting flavors. The lobster and corn soup was very tasty, although did not have lobster pieces in it. The salmon tartare special was delicious but small. The oyster rockefeller was fresh but very rich. Tasted like a spinach artichoke dip. The seafood pasta was tasty but the portion was SMALL. There were around 4 mussels, 4 shrimps and 4 clams. The pasta seemed like fresh pasta. However, for $34, a larger serving is expected. Good location, Great service, mediocre food, small portions for the price. I wouldn't return.

Yelp
I made a reservation for 7 on a Sunday evening. The place was pretty empty when we got there despite there being very little reservation time slots left on open table. It's a very spacious restaurant with multiple floors. We sat on the first floor in a booth seat. The hostess brought us over to our table but it was still dirty from the party before and she proceeded to put the menus down. She did have a busser come clean the table after I pointed it out and then we got plates and cups but no silverware. We asked for silverware after all the apps showed up. Food was fine, most dishes were kind of bland except for the steamed little neck clams and the fried oysters. Calamari was average. I ordered the lobster roll which was fine, nothing to write home about. Drinks were okay, I did like that they weren't overly sweet. The biggest annoyance was constantly having to swat away the fruit flies during dinner.. Overall not great service, average food, and high prices. Would likely skip this restaurant as there are a variety of other options in Newport.

Yelp
Truly amazing! My family and I travelled to Newport for a 2 day holiday trip and we ended up going to Midtown for two different meals. The oyster menu was very fun and easy to understand, it was a great first experience eating a raw oyster. We had meals ranging from salads to steaks to scallops and there were no flaws to be found. The cocktails were all delicious and I highly recommend any of the martinis. A great choice for those traveling to the area!

Yelp
While Midtown Oyster Bar has great oysters, its other menu items left me disappointed. I tried about three different types of oysters here and enjoyed each one. However the burger, salmon poke and fries felt extremely lackluster. The burger especially felt very mediocre. It did not have enough seasoning on the patty and the bun was too overwhelming in the burger. The fries that came with it tasted unsalted, and oddly very similar to ones I've had in my middle school cafeteria in my memories. While understandable that this is a seafood restaurant, the other dishes on the menu were below standard. The service was OK and the atmosphere was pretty nice. Overall, I'd recommend this restaurant if you like oysters and drinking.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice greet g vm from hostesses. Seated us on high tables. Bria, our server, recommended a few dishes. Ordered the Lobster Roll, Char-Grilled Octopus. She also recommended Malpeque (Canadian) oysters and Fox Island oysters (Newport R.I. - smaller ones). Loved, loved, loved it all!
google avatar

Anna F.

Yelp
This place is great! The food is fresh and delicious. It's also very big so it's not impossible to get a table. I appreciated that they had a Connecticut style lobster roll because I personally prefer them, the lobster roll was full of lobster and perfectly buttered! I couldn't leave New England without having a lobster roll and this place offered them warmed :) the calamari was my favorite here, full of seasoning and done the proper Rhode Island way. I also enjoyed the Crudo, the fish was very fresh. I wish this place was just closer to the downtown area and closer to the water. It's not far and an easy walk but I wished I had the waterfront view, so if you're in the Newport area and looking for a casual bite with really fresh and good food, Midtown Oyster Bar is your place.

Yelp
What a treat this was! Met some locals who said this place was official. That it was. Headed over for lunch with friends on the Wednesday before thanksgiving around 2pm. They have a variety of seating throughout the restaurant. We were able to get a seat at the large middle table. Seems like it may fill up pretty quickly. Our server was great. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu options. We grabbed a few different items... -Wicked Shrimp: comes with 6 medium sized shrimp. These were really good. Comes with bread for dipping. Have a slight kick to them. -Steamed littlenecks- The broth was amazing. Clams nice and fresh. Also comes with bread for dipping. -Atlantic Cod Chowder- thicker type chowder with a spin on clam, with the cod. -Fish and Chips- not my favorite. Batter on the fish on my opinion lacked a bit of flavor. Needed to salt. -Lobster roll- also felt this lacked a bit of flavor. However nice amount of lobster in a soft buttery bun They have great drinks!! Bartender def knew how to make a nice strong cocktail. Espresso martini is a must try.

Yelp
We sat in the bar area. We were visiting from NC, our server was wondering and answered all of our questions. The oysters were amazing, the tuna tacos and scallops were perfect!

Yelp
I'm a bit of a restaurant snob --regarding quality especially-- & was pleasantly surprised! Often a popular place with tourists at the height of vacation season is not the best, but everything we had at Midtown was good or better. Our server was sweet and patient with our big table of 60-something friends. We shared apps and found both the trout dip and grilled octopus really good. I had a nice cup of chowder and drinks were prepared well. A bunch of us had lobster rolls, which were certainly generous, as they should be for the price, but the roll was dry--no big deal. The others who ordered halibut and steak were pleased with their dinners, and these are NYC women who eat out well and often. With a cocktail each and a couple of shared bottles of wine (no dessert), bill was less than $125 pp. We didn't feel rushed even on a busy Friday night. I'll be back when in Newport!

Yelp
Great experience here! Came on a Friday night with my girlfriend during our first time in Newport. Service was great, food was delicious and I loved the ambiance and vibe. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Once I saw they had oyster shooters here, I knew I wanted to stop by to try them! We came on a Sunday night and it was pretty busy inside, but we were still able to order the shots before the kitchen closed. There were a couple different shots to choose from, but we got the pickleback ones. It came with an oyster on top and was delicious. We got drinks after and went upstairs to the roof. We had a lot of fun, but next time I would love to come here to try the food! The oysters tasted very fresh, so I assume everything else would be good too.

Yelp
The three stars are for the attentiveness and accommodating staff and the drinks. We had wonderful staff members who were flexible for our party with children. The food was not worth the price tag; It was bland and unseasoned. We had the clams 6 out of 10; Calamari 3 out of 10. Who puts onions/ shallots in Calamari???; A very dry burger, startled chicken which was ok, and pasta with tomato paste, just awful. The Drinks were amazing & they were not selfish with the alcohol . The location is great and right in the center of town. They had a very lively band and the decor was very Cape Cod-ish/ nautical with a second level that had a roof top with the view of the pier .

Yelp
Bartender (girl who looked in her 20s) was the rudest person that we've ever encountered. My husband said to me "of all the places we've ever eaten (hundreds), I think that bartender had the worst attitude" We came here around 2pm on a Tuesday and there were only 2-3 other tables in the dining area, the bar was empty. My husband, daughter and I enter the front door and the hostess was away from the stand at the time. The bartender saw us there and didn't even acknowledge us. She waited several minutes then walked over with the worst, nastiest look on her face. huffed and puffed. rolled her eyes. her body language was horrific. She said, in a very rude tone "2 and a high chair?" no hello, etc. She then sat us right next to one of the only other tables there, where we were almost touching them. She threw menus on the table and walked away. She didn't even bring the high chair. Such a miserable person. We had such a bad impression from her that we almost left.
