Midwinter

"Sounding like something from Game of Thrones, Midwinter is a mock European castle with white bricks, set among 32 acres of rolling fields with views of Khaoyai mountains. The dining room mixes alpine and vintage designs under high ceilings. The international and Thai dishes boast farm-to-table and homegrown organic ingredients, like asparagus, greens, fruits and herbs. They produce their own dry-aged beef, smoked ham, pork leg, sausages and fresh pastries." - Michelin Inspector

3 Best Day Trips From Bangkok

"Imagine stumbling upon a Swiss Alps village at the edge of a tropical monsoon forest. Random, right? Welcome to Midwinter Green, a popular destination en route to or from Khao Yai National Park. More than a restaurant—there are also manicured gardens, a shop selling baked goods and local groceries, a large live music stage, and winding pebbled paths—the property, with its European architecture and wooden, chalet-like buildings, feels slightly out of place in Thailand. It’s a bizarre aesthetic in such a hot climate, but a charming one nonetheless. There’s a heavy focus on meat—smoked pork chops, German pork knuckle, Australian Wagyu ribeye—but you’ll also find comfort-food classics like pizza, pasta, salads, and burgers. Portions are generous, always a plus for a hungry crowd coming post-hike." - Marianna Cerini

A must visit when in Khao Yai. The restaurant is massive, with well executed dining concepts. Try to get an outdoor terrace table, that gave a good view of the premise and stage. And the night weather was so cooling and enjoyable. The food here is generally better than other restaurants we tried in Khao Yai. Staff were friendly, though service can be slow simply because of the long walking distances across the venue. The light projection show started at 7:10pm when we visited, instead of 7:40pm that we read from many reviewers. Clearer communication on show timings would be helpful, as the kids love it and we almost missed it. There was also a huge playground behind the bar, which is great for families. Though, we had hoped that the live band can be better. Outside the main restaurant are a cool cafe and a cosy ice cream shop, likely under the same ownership. Cycling options are available for young kids. We visited during the Christmas period and the festive deco and market were very well executed, giving the whole place a huge Christmas mood. We just loved the vibe of the entire mid winter area.

It’s a huge place with plenty to explore. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and there’s a live band in the evening which adds to the atmosphere. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, though the prices are on the expensive side. I really appreciate that they also have vegetarian options available. Outside the restaurant, you’ll find a charming area filled with Christmas trees, a pond with swans, a night market, cafés, and even activities like archery. It was already quite crowded on a weekday, so I can only imagine how busy it gets on weekends. The security staff were very friendly and accommodating, always greeting with a smile. The best time to visit is late afternoon so you can enjoy the sunset and stay through the evening when the lights and ambiance are at their best. They also have a lots of events coming for the Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentines.

Midwinter Khaoyai Date of visit: 2025 Dec 16. Time of visit: 7:10 pm to 7:25 pm. Overall: 8.125/10. Sight Seeing / Activity: 7. Indoor and Outdoor Ventilation: 8. Ambience: 10. Location: 7.5. Expected activity 0.5 hours. Price Entry: Free. Sight Seeing: I did not dine at Midwinter Khaoyai, and only stopped by briefly to get a feel for the atmosphere and ambience. The outdoor setting was welcoming and impressive, with a live stage, music and songs. The lighting highlighted the building's architecture and the overall setting nicely. For those who want to enjoy the pleasant evening ambience, consider to getting some drinks, dessert and / or finger food while soaking in the lovely atmosphere. Indoor and Outdoor Ventilation: Much of the space is open to sky, providing good natural ventilation. Location: It is about 30 mins ride from hotels in Khao Yai. Khao Yai is about 2.5 hours ride from Bangkok.

This venue is crazy large, they have a large indoor area and an even larger outdoor sitting area for their dining. They even have multiple separate outdoor sections for cafes and such… and they have seasonal market on one of their hills… yes, hills - in their backyard… Food wise, I suppose it’s ok. Nothing really outstanding, just tasty enough to warrant the premium you do pay for. If weather permits, choose outdoor for a nicer ambience.

Environment and spaces: A large space that get restaurant, desert shops, bar, market, exhibituon hall, farm and food stores. We went there during Christmas. There is a small Christmas market and the grassland is nicely decorated with big and small Christmas tree. Great Atmosphere. Food and beverages : Didn't really visit the main restaurants. Visit the market food stores and afteryou only. Taste is so so. All the stores in the area didn't accept cash. Only accept scan pay and credit card which is not very convenient.

Everything was fine until their food arrived… The food quality is unacceptable for a recommended restaurant in the Michelin guide. First of all, we ordered a wagyu steak which worth more than 2000 baht was served coldly, as well as the fries, not only cold but dry inside. The pan seared sea bass was acceptable but nothing special at all. Their mushroom soup was okay too but the baguettes they served with the soup is like something u can get at 7eleven… Overall service was good and the atmosphere was pretty chill, but would I recommend to anyone? Definitely a no, and I would never come back again because I don’t think the food is worth the price.

Thank you for the New Year's Eve meal. Thank you to all the staff and chefs who worked hard today.👨‍🍳👩‍🍳 👍🏻🙏 delicious food, great atmosphere, and live music. I recommend booking in advance on the festival day. You can book through various channels: line, facebook, or call.

There are three main areas: 1. Restaurant 2. Cafe 3. Market (pop ups) Restaurants and Cafe have exactly the same prices for food, so stick to the restaurant if you want a better dining experience. Head down to the Cafes for a more chill dining experience with a view. The usual overpriced matchas are available at the Cafes as well. Somehow the Cafes are all self service, with beepers and you have clear your own food after eating. For the price we paid, we expected a better service. If you want affordable dining options, head straight to the market areas where there are a lot of clean street food options!
