"Many restaurants in Vietnam focus on a concise menu starring one key ingredient. In this 40-plus-year-old shop, the menu revolves around eel as in eel noodles, eel congee and eel soup. For the noodles, they use rice vermicelli which is made into noodle soup, or tossed with deep-fried shredded eel, herbs, toasted peanuts and shallots. Shredded pork sausage and shiitake mushrooms are added to the soup and congee to further boost the umami." - Michelin Inspector

Michelin star street food, and the food really shines here. Fried or cooked eel with mushroom soup, sounds odd but tastes amazing. Try the jasmine tea is delicious and refreshing. Don't let the lack of foreigners put you off, really. Immerse yourself in Vietnamese culture and try these delicacies. The menu is simple and easy to order.

If you come here, make sure to order the dry eel vermicelli. It’s served with a small bowl of soup on the side. The dish is a unique combination of various toppings, including cucumber, peanuts, fried tofu skin, and crispy dried eel that gives a satisfying crunch. The accompanying soup has a light, clear flavor, and it pairs really well with the dry noodles. However, the service was poor—staff showed attitude and spoke quite loudly to customers. Great food, but the service definitely isn’t.

A Michelin guide street food recommendation that specialises in Eel dishes only. This is something we didn't know before we got there but decided to give it a try anyway. This was my first time trying eel and we got the eel cake. It tasted pretty average; nothing stood out in terms of flavour or texture of the dish. The pricing was street pricing and the place seemed popular with the locals as a quick meal stop.

Not bad the food. Eel fish very deep fried have to dip in the hot soup provided so that u able to bite.otherwise too hard might damage your teeth . Eel vermicelli cost 70000

We’ve been in Hanoi for a minute now and this was our first food miss. I’m sorry, but it was disappointing top to bottom. Maybe everyone was having a bad day. I love porridge and eel and neither were good. The porridge was a great consistency but lacked flavor, the eel was a lot of skin and bones. My partner had the glass noodles with eel, the eel was extremely over fried , like they were carbon crisps. The employees looked and acted like they were distraught and wanted to be anywhere else but there. Please lmk where else to try cháo in Hanoi.

I went for the fried eel cakes and they were easily the best I’ve had. The balance between the eel and the base was perfect. I’ll definitely be back to try some of their other dishes!

I dont really like the taste of the soup. Its just bland and flavorless We ate upstair, at first when the order had not been served yet, the staff cleaned all chopstick and spoon on table like they are gonna close soon. After that when we were at the middle of meal, the staff turned off all fans and air condition even there were 3 table eating??? I hope they can improve their service to be better

We didn’t try something like this before and surprisingly it was really tasty. The clear vermicelli soup has generous fried eel which tastes like fried chicken skin. Crunchy and no funky smell. Try it! Really different from all the pho in Vietnam. Will definitely be back again when in Hanoi!
