I really wanted to like Mighty Fine, especially with how close it is to downtown Tampa, but my experience was disappointing from start to finish.
First, the sesame seeds. The buns are absolutely covered in them—so many that it completely overpowers the flavor of the entire sandwich. By the time I got through a few bites, all I could taste was sesame, and it genuinely made me feel sick.
Then there’s the chicken sandwich, which in my opinion is a disgrace to chicken sandwiches everywhere. The breading is extremely thick yet somehow still soggy inside, so it tastes underdone even though it looks overworked on the outside. They make it sound like it comes with barbecue sauce, but it’s actually miso barbecue sauce, and I couldn’t taste any of it because the sesame and bad breading drown everything out.
When I asked for the barbecue sauce, the employee I spoke to was rude and acted like I was dumb for even asking. That alone was unprofessional, but it got worse — I later saw a worker who appeared to be drinking a beer and vaping while working. That instantly made me even more uncomfortable about the food I had just eaten. (I even took a picture because I honestly couldn’t believe it.)
For the quality, the prices are also way too high. A double burger is around $12.50, the chicken sandwich is $13, and fries are another $5. For that kind of money, you could go to Chick-fil-A, Culver’s, Shake Shack, or Dave’s Hot Chicken and get something leagues better.
To top it off, you’re expected to seat yourself, grab your own menu, get your own water, throw away your own food, and then they still prompt you for a tip.
Overall, I left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and honestly grossed out. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone based on my experience.
