Nestled beneath the streets of Downtown LA, Mignon delights with intimate vibes, curated European wines, and rustic French bites that are perfect for sipping and sharing.
"When all you want to do is grab your date by the shoulders and scream “I’M TRYING TO IMPRESS YOU” (Note: Please do not do this), take them to Mignon. This low-lit, almost-subterranean spot in DTLA is cozy and plenty romantic, and does the impossible - marries excellent French food at affordable prices. The menu is tight and compact (which means you’ll have more time to focus on making the recommended amount of eye contact), and includes a list of mostly natural European wines, and foods like buttery escargots à la Bourguignonne, a killer $24 steak, and a speck-and-butter sandwich so good, we’d consider ditching our date for it." - jess basser sanders, brant cox, kat hong, brett keating
"Mignon, a little French wine bar right in the middle of Downtown, is the ideal place for a date with someone you really want to impress. It’s low-lit, everything is made of mahogany, and there’s a lot of wine being poured. But on top of an impressive list of mostly natural European wines, they’ve got a killer daily Happy Hour from 6-8pm with $8 glasses of wine and $2 oysters, and giant charcuterie platters for only $25. If the date thing isn't part of the equation, come alone, read a book, and eat a ham and brie sandwich." - brant cox, sylvio martins, arden shore
"The entirety of Mignon consists of 16 seats around a square bar. Inside that bar is a single chef, who does everything from assembling cheese boards to pan frying your fantastic steak, and a bartender, who will be able to tell you what obscure Austrian pet-nat pairs best with the escargots. This underground spot in DTLA is the kind of best-kept-secret place we only share with people we really, really like, because after one visit, it’s going to become a part of their restaurant rotation, too - and we don’t like to share." - brett keating
"Wine bar/excellent French food spot Mignon is back open in Downtown LA, with limited bar seating. Masks required (and they’ll provide one if you forget yours). Tuesday-Thursday 6-10pm (11pm Friday-Sunday). More info on their Instagram." - brett keating
"Mignon is a wine bar operated by Santos Uy, located in Downtown’s Historic Core. It is known for being the initial pop-up location for Cento Pasta Bar before it became its own restaurant in West Adams." - Farley Elliott
