TLDR: skip this place, opt for another experience!
I came to Migrante for my birthday dinner with family, with high expectations after a wonderful meal at Pargot and the many glowing reviews. Unfortunately, no amount of semantics or generosity can convey my disappointment.
Service and management were notably lacking throughout the evening. Staff came by roughly every 30 minutes to refill drinks, leaving my party consistently parched as I actively scanned the room for assistance. Compounding this, the table next to us experienced an overbooking issue: their reserved table was given away after only about 10 minutes of tardiness, and they were subsequently squeezed side-by-side next to our table. No effort was made to amend or acknowledge the inconvenience caused to them or to us.
To make matters worse, part of the sink cabinet in the restroom fell onto my legs, likely leaving bruises. When I informed staff, the initial response was a casual “oh, oops,” followed later by a half-hearted “sorry,” with no real concern or follow-up.
We ordered nearly every recommended dish on the menu. The much-praised fish arrived partially uncooked through the center, while the pork chop was dry and devoid of depth, relying on an overly salty sauce to compensate. Overall, the sauces and flavors felt elementary and unrefined—disappointing for a restaurant at this price point and reputation.
Several members of my party also noted cleanliness issues: dishes arrived with residue, and the teapot had visible, unidentifiable grime buildup. When we shared our dissatisfaction with the chef, the response was unapologetic, with no attempt to acknowledge or remedy the experience.
Despite the issues, the bill was charged in full, and the birthday dessert we were told would be provided never arrived.
For a restaurant of this caliber—especially for visitors experiencing CDMX for the first time—I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. Unless you enjoy a lackluster, careless dining experience at a premium price, this is not the place.
