Method Review - Hell's Kitchen - New York - The Infatuation

"Method is a dark Japanese restaurant on 9th Avenue that projects seasonally-appropriate Youtube videos (snowboarding in the winter, etc) onto the wall and has its own sake bar attached next door. And when you put it all together, the combination of Youtube compilations, big sake list, and date-night atmosphere actually works. Especially for situations where you don’t want to decide if you’re just getting drinks and snacks or a full-on dinner until about 20 minutes into the evening. They have Japanese-inspired small plates for sharing, a full sake bar and drink list, and some bigger things like tempura, duck, venison steak, and a daily sashimi special for $50. They also have a solid lunch special, if you work in the area." - Hannah Albertine

Google
The last business at one end of a large shopping center sadly making it somewhat invisible. Trying it out on the recommendation of some friends, it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! Clean and tidy interior with a separate bar and dining area with very comfortable seating. The staff and clients all made the visit seem relaxed and enjoyable. The food is best described by the other 5 star reviews. It is that good!

Google
Decided for Mothers Day, I wanted sushi. My daughter had a nice lunch. Really enjoyed the cute, clean and inviting atmosphere. Food was very delicious. We started with the lettuce wraps. Ordered 3 sushi rolls and the highlight was the Mermaid roll! Perfect combination. Our server was very pleasant and attentive as well. Highly recommend this place. Prices also very reasonable in my opinion.

Google
We sat today with the waitress Ivy & the food/service was excellent! I’m always looking for a good sushi spot & this one does definitely did not disappoint. The Lobster Caviar is a MUST TRY. We’ll definitely be back!!

Google
This was my first time here and the experience and food were great. I love the food absolutely amazing. Everything was hot and fresh and tasty. Our server ivy was super warming as well and super super nice. I came here because I saw how great the reviews and I guess it’s a great choice. 100% recommend it and the ramens and skewers are so tastyyyyy. Love itttttt

Google
Came for appetizers and drinks and it did not disappoint. We got the meat buns and the bird’s nest. Both had so much flavor and were delicious! We especially liked the birds nest, so many flavors and unlike anything we have had elsewhere! Our server Ivy was fantastic and answered all of our questions. She gave us recommendations that were awesome! We ended up ordering some sushi after and it was so good! All the rolls we got were delicious and had so much flavor. Our favorite was the Dream come true roll. Definitely a wonderful experience and we can’t wait to come back!

Google
Mihana is great! The wings are so crispy and everything was fantastic. Ivy was a great waitress and very attentive! The vibe is great too. We will be coming back often to try more of what they have to offer!

Google
The food was average, but nothing negative either. However, they have a lot of employees and lack of service. It’s annoying when you have three employees at the bar hanging out and three by the front desk. It took 20 minutes to take my order, and I had to call them for basic things like water. It would be nice if they checked on the tables often. The employees seem friendly when approached but for a place that wasn’t so busy service and with many employees service was lacking .

Google
Simply put, this place is in my top 5 restaurants. I’ve been coming here quite some time, since they first opened under a different name, and have loved them 100% since the first time. Delicious food, casual atmosphere with nice mood lighting, a gorgeous blend of modern and traditional Japanese decor. The drinks are spectacular too! As a local I am actually begging you to please come try this place!!

Yelp
Wonderful service! Didn't hurt that our waitress carded us. Good ego boost, haha! But seriously, she was nice without being over the top, efficient and the food came out rather quickly at lunch time. From the outside you wouldn't know how wonderfully decorated it is inside. Great vibes! The lunch specials were really affordable and came with a lot of food! Everything was very tasty! I enjoyed the steak teriyaki and all the sides that came with it were good. I love the variety they gave...soup, salad, shumai, gyoza, spring roll, entree and appetizer. The ribs for the appetizer were very tasty-fall off the bone! The drinks were also creative and very tasty! I shall be back!

Yelp
Stopped by to try some hot Ramen on a cold day and was very pleased. The place is very clean and very quaint, we were taken care of immediately upon entering. The steamed mini bun appetizer with Pork Belly and Mayonnaise might be one of the best morsels of food I've had recently. I wish there was more than 2 per order but I'd gladly order more next time. The sushi was very fresh and I love the fact that they put minimal rice around each roll. It allowed the other ingredients to stand out. The Ramen was delicious, it was hot and comforting with an abundance of noodles. I chose the short rib and loved how it was savory with a hint of sweetness. I do wish they gave more protein as three small slices left me wanting more.

Yelp
WOW! What a great experience at this restaurant. This was my first time visiting Mihana, my friend and I sat at the bar. The service was excellent, the bartender was effortlessly friendly and attentive. The drinks were great, I reccomend trying some of the Japanese whiskey! We both ordered ramen, would definitely recommend. I look forward to coming back! Thank you to the staff at Mihana for a great night of food and fun!

Yelp
First thing first I love this place From the food to the scenery and the bartender amazing and my bill never past 100 lmfao

Yelp
Came here with a small group for dinner mid week. It wasn't busy at all, but it was difficult to flag down a server when we needed something. The cocktails were exquisite, I recommend the elderflower gin one! The sushi was fresh and the selection was great. The presentation added to the experience!

Yelp
Love this place! I've went two times and was very satisfied with everything. The staff are so friendly and caring. Food is amazing too, with fair prices. Beautiful interior as well! Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
This is a great spot for a nice dinner night out. Nothing too crazy, not too fancy, but very welcoming and friendly staff, mixed with upscale cuisine and relaxing vibe, make this a go-to sushi/ramen spot in the neighborhood. We ordered a bunch of things, but have RAVES about the Popcorn Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, the Out of Control Roll. The Sake was hot and fresh, the price point is decent, we really enjoyed our dinner. We will be sure to be back! Also PS the place may be having a name change, the name on the menu was different, so it was confusing, but the food is worth it.

Yelp
Was here on a quiet Saturday afternoon as one of a handful of patrons. Very friendly service and nice ambience. A lot of thought went into the design and layout. Was excited to try their ramen, which was served cleverly like a bento. However the noodles were over cooked. Like walk away from the boiler and take a nap before pulling the noodles out the water consistency. Sadly a noodle that is blasted into mush should not be served. A lot of things going for the place but the soggy ramen is unforgivable. The sushi was average. The tempura chicken was sweet and sour, which is not a flavor I associate with authentic Japanese cuisine. I would consider going back but would never order the ramen.

Yelp
Service: Slow but so nice. The service was a bit slow for a quiet night. maybe they were doing a bit more logistics for the location or maybe they were busy with everything at the bar. They were so nice to give suggestions and tell me about the popular items on the menu! Food: Meet Bao Buns - Must have! I get this every time i am here. The tenderness of the pork goes so well with the tenderness of the bun! Ramen - Tonkatsu Miso Base & Charshu - Filling! It was a wonderful broth with a great mouthfeel. The additions come on the side but it is slightly cold. I like my ramen to burn my mouth with the first bite but adding the sides really cooled it down. On to my next adventure...

Yelp
I have no idea how this place has such good reviews. It's really cute inside and i was so happy to try this new spot in my area. A flop. The crispy rice had this disgusting sweet sauce all over it. Why would you do that? Put it on the side, for me that was really like a "let's try to be different move" and it just was not good. The basil steak was just ok, quality of meat actually tasted cheap which is insane to me. The rice tasted old. Bartender/ server at the bar talked and joked around too much. Like we were chill for a second but can you stop talking, I'm with my friend and we wanna catch up. I don't want u included in our convo. Walked out of there and was like not coming back here ever, which sucks bc the bar is really cute and cozy but the food and experience were not worth it to me.

Yelp
Couldn't wait to Try this new Izikaya Bar in Commack. I was looking forward to sitting at the bar with the food being cooked over coals on sticks like I have seem in soa m y photos of other venues... the restaurant looks nice from the outside and when we entered I asked where the Izikaya Bar was..alas, there is none! In dismay, I asked why not. Mgr advised Suffolk code would not permit it You have to go to NYC to get the real deal. We decided to give it a go and stayed. Glad we did! We had a wonderful server and ordered cocktails.. I got Soju and Bon got a coconut Martini..both very good. Now in the swing we got appys: We split a delish Chashu Ramen and then ordered 2 Yakatori sticks of lamb and pork belly..Pork belly awesome with Lamb a bit chewy but good taste. Next Kaaraga chicken..delish fried dark meat with dipping sauce..perfect! No fire but delish food...def worth a visit.

Yelp
Excellent!!!! It's no longer just a ramen bar. It's now a Japanese Bistro & Bar. Happy Hour is great Rong is a great Bar Tender who is a Master of the Craft. I ordered a craft cocktail off menu and it was on point and delicious. Sushi is great Details & Consistency are there as well My Son had the Ramen and it was beyond any expectations I could have had. Highly recommend. And... I think I should mention 1. I hold the fastest Saki Bomb record.... 2. The cocktail I had was a Negroni.

Yelp
I am so excited for there to be an Izakaya in Commack. Meet Izakaya did not disappoint. The staff was so friendly. The menu has an amazing selection of tapas to choose from. I wanted to have everything. The staff was very sensitive to my food allergies and went through the menu with me. I went with the gyoza, wings, street corn and the crispy rice tuna. Had to get the yakitori skewers. My favorite was the pork belly. Had the short ribs as the entree, nice flavor and the sauce they served with it added so much flavor. Dessert was so goood! The drinks suggestion were delish. I know I'll be back to MEET soon. Wish them much success!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything is cooked just right. Whether it's tasty wings in soy garlic sauce to salmon entree with truffle lime sauce. My favorites included the yellow tail Kama, kakuni buns, and Yakitori skewer combo. Service is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I only wish that the staff ask if one is finished before taking the plates away. My mom only ate the skin and her plate was taken before she touched the meat on the wings :). Overall, the staff greeted us warmly without reservations and was attentive for refills and any requests. Parking is ample in the strip mall's lot. I'd come back for more when their menu expands after the soft opening. The owner has a chain of different types of restaurants, ranging from hotpot to barbecue. Our family enjoyed them all, so looking forward to more!

Yelp
Yum yummy!! Fresh fish. Lunch special is amazing you get to try everything with it and I totally recommend it. Staff is nice and really sweet. I recommend it for a date night too. Also, they have ramen- my next try!!!

Yelp
This has become our go to place! First off I LOVE the decor . Very nicely done. The food is well priced. We've have a lot off the menu and it has always been to a high quality. The staff are now recognizing us as we are in at least once a week! We went here for Valentine's Day too!! ;) A little gem in the Mayfair shopping center!

Yelp
Great food and service! Food is tasty and comes out very quickly. The waiters and waitresses are very kind and they often the same ones each time we go! The food is great and always consistent. Prices are moderate and reasonable. The restaurant is cozy and decorated very diligently.

Yelp
The food was great. Ambiance was great as well. Service was excellent. I'd like to try more things on the menu however. They def have the Japanese vibes down pat and it made me miss the 2 years I spent living there. They have a few Japanese beers but I was longing for an Asahi. Def check out the cocktails though. They were great.

Yelp
Finding an izakaya in Long Island is like finding a needle in a haystack. Meet was one of those restaurants that are in a family of restaurants: Cajun Claws, JBBQ and Shabu Shabu and Kashi. I've tried most of the restaurants which are mediocre at best. However, Meet was a cut above the rest and their food and drinks show for it. The portions were generous and delicious and their cocktails were on point. The interior was inviting and cozy, I particularly liked the lanterns and decorative shelf. I plan on dining again soon!

Yelp
We are so happy to visit this place so close to home. Decor and environment with great for my family with two smaller kids. Appetizers were the highlight of our dinner. The braised ribs and some of the yakitori meats were on the drier side (beef & pork belly) except for the lamb, I think we had half lean and half fatty lamb pieces. Ramen was a hit with my kids, the adults liked it too. Ice creams were basic, I didn't like the mango crepes but the kids did. I wish there were more dessert options, tea offerings in place of ice water, and more "fattier" protein so it will be less dry-tasting, my heart health will suffer but my tummy will be grateful. Definitely coming back with or without the kids, just sticking to appetizers, yakitori, and ramen!

Yelp
Ok I said the chef is a genius and he continues to outdo himself. We have been here several times for omakase and he continues to change it up and never presents the same dish which is incredible. He is humble and creative and simply outstanding. This is the most incredible true NYC only real omakase experience on Long Island we have found. I don't know how but every time we come he continues to outdo himself which is pretty impossible. See the pictures for details and then please go and experience it for yourself or just enjoy his anything but regular menu.

Yelp
We went in August for the first time. The food was delicious and we had amazing service. They were very attentive and their birthday surprise was charming and fun. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I have been here twice now and I'm obsessed with this place. This restaurant makes me want to travel to Japan. The food, drinks, and service is pure perfection. The pork buns are my absolute favorite. The Yakitori skewers are also something to brag about. The peach ice cream dessert was unique, and I grew to like it.The ramen soup was not the best I ever had, but it was good.

Yelp
SO GOOD! Just found this place idk how i missed it, but they recently opened up last September and the atmosphere, staff, and food are amazing. Very chill vibes, great music, wonderful service, and now the food... We ordered the asian street corn which was delicious and roasted perfectly and then we got spicy miso broth with chicken and regular miso with chicken. both amazing! I ordered spicy powder for my spicy miso because i enjoy extra spicy and it was perfect. The egg was AMAZING. Some places hardboil it too much or too little but it was just right and reminded me how they make it in Japan. Definitely check this place out for yourself. Shout out to Henni our server :)
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
They sat us right away and the service was great. Nice selection of drinks and a variety of veggie appetizers. We enjoyed the Brussel sprouts and shishitos without the fish flakes. We thought it was all fresh and edamame was a hit. One particular thing that was good was how the flushers were not automatic in the bathroom. It was chic and nice. We all enjoyed our ramens and had a good time.
google avatar

Julia J G.

Yelp
The food was good. The bar area is spacious. The wine pour is ONLY 6oz , thumbs down! Wine pour should be a min of 8 oz.
google avatar

Ivonne G.

Yelp
Excellent services and food Amazed by the variety of liquor and cocktails TOP OF THE WORLD! I am dying with my spicy miso ramen! For the records, the green tea cream broker is the most delicious, creamy, Cloudy, exceptional desert You can't be asked for anything else!!! Defenelly you need this place in your life!!!! 1 of a 10 ----- 1000000000!!!!

Yelp
An Izakaya that rivals the ones in Japan, American style w signature drinks like the Matcha and Ginger beer Meet Izakaya style. The tuna on crispy rice cracker was delish. I liked the pork buns and shisiso peppers. Definitely worth a another try

Yelp
Really great place in a strange spot, the Mayfair shopping center. Excellent food. Ramen delicious. Appetizers very unique and also delicious. Alcohol choices great, especially the Japanese Whiskey flight. Do it!!!! Our waiter, David, was super cool and knowledgeable. Great service. Definitely coming back many times.

Yelp
I live nearby and came here last night for a drink and appetizer! The Juicy Colada was soooo delish and I legit felt like I was on a tropical island! I've been here before and got the fried calamari, asian street corn and ramen! Come here if you want cozy vibes and good food.

Yelp
First time coming here I thought it was a great experience. Food was amazing. Service was really good. Ambience was on point definitely for the aesthetics. I would recommend loved my Ramen and hot sake and buns.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and even better service. This recently opened restaurant is part of a larger parent group that has several other brands including Kashi. So it comes from a good heritage so to speak. Meet is a bit of an American take on a Japanese "Meet" and hangout with friends while you eat and drink concept. The staff treats you like family so it really was easy to take them up on hanging out for a while. Had a great time at the bar while snacking on several of their bites and of course testing a few different drinks made by friendly bartenders like Guershon (Gee). The Meet Buns were my favorite but even the Shiitake Mushroom skewers were good and I am not a fan of mushrooms. Drinks were well done with a bit of a Japanese flare. I will definitely come and "Meet" with friends here more often.

Yelp
Went to meet a friend for Japanese Ramen lunch in Commack and decided to try this new restaurant. It is in a corner of a shopping center. The atmosphere was very nice. It wasn't very busy and they accommodated us by lower the music so we can enjoy conversation. We each ordered ramen bowls and they were we both loved the fact that the add-ons were on the side. It worked out great for us to share. Service was friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable and the portions were a good size. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Jenna Z.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here once a week for a few months. It's our absolute favorite restaurant. I highly recommend the ramen! Service is great, they're super attentive, and the mood/ambiance is great as well.

Yelp
What a amazing and beautiful restaurant. I love to support our local restaurants. This restaurant is also great for a nice romantic date or a group gathering for work. Authentic scenery. Skewers fish, chicken, veggies are amazing. Ramen noodles are fantastic just pick your broth flavor.

Yelp
Wow Izakaya commack yummy and delicious! It's located in Mayfair commack shopping center place was nicely decorated. Came today for lunch, had the seafood ramen noodles delicious freshly pulled ramen noodles, and the yakitori skewer combo with rib eye, fish, chicken and veggies. Presentation to keep it warm in a nice little metal box so cool. And lastly the basil shrimp fried rice. Delicious! Did not disappoint and def recommend this place. Will be back for dinner....

Yelp
Great ramen. The foie gras eel thing was delicious. Some of the rolls were good and the skewer thing is a good idea. The sashimi/sushi pieces were not good at all. Also their salmon is freakishly orange.

Yelp
Our first time here What a great addition to COMMACK! Great cozy ambiance, service and food excellent Didn't get cocktails tonight but really nice craft cocktail menu as well Will definitely add this to our repertoire

Yelp
We had a very weird encounter at this restaurant. The food was okay, but the experience towards the end especially payment part was awkward. We arrived shortly after its scheduled 2pm opening time, and was the first guests in house. Two other family joined shortly after. The waiter came asking if we wanted water: "Sparking or Still" we picked still and assuming it's going to be in a closed water bottle and to be opened in front of us by the table. Which is typically what many restaurant practices with paid water service. However, the waiter brought over an already opened Panna bottle. Which I kinda assumed it was free given that also a lot other restaurants in the City practices, they put tapped water in clear glass bottles and oftentimes it's just one of these branded bottle. When we got the bill, it's was $8 on the bill. For a Bottle of Already OPENNED Panna water. It got ENVEN WORSE, when we used credit card for payment, the waiter had the payment machine hanging around his neck, so we had to reach over to operate the touch screen ON HIS BODY! This is so weird, and their pre-set tip price INCLUDED Tax, the default TIPS choice was also over 18%. We paid, got out, And WILL NEVER COMEBACK. So, pay close attention to your bill when served.

Susan R.

Yelp
Delicious! The staff is lovely. the ambiance is very inviting. I would recommend this venue to everyone I know!

Pattie Q.

Yelp
Went to Mihana last night service was great. Food was good. Since they were bought out, it seems that the menu was very limited. If you like to get a sashimi dinner they only offer one option and it's $65. Otherwise you have to order everything à la cart. Ambience of the restaurant is still nice and relaxing they should expand their menu a bit.
google avatar

Bianca W.

Yelp
I've been waiting for this restaurants are open and I finally realize that it has and so I had to try. As a ramen connoisseur, I can say that the ramen is pretty good and it was to go and we all know to go orders can taste significantly different than when eaten at the restaurant. However, the star of the show for me were the pork buns. They were really hot, juicy and flavorful. When picking up my order, I checked out the atmosphere and it's giving! I look forward to going back and trying more dishes while eating in the restaurant so that I can have the full experience.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Simply outstanding. What makes this place unique aside from delicious entries is "presentation."The oyster appetizer is the best. The entrees are so damn good. Our wait staff includes David who is as likable as the crispy rice tuna. I leave here with a smile because we finally found a restaurant that cares about its clientele. 5 stars, no doubt. P S. The cocktails are creative and delicious.
google avatar

Parker M.

Yelp
Great food, great servers, great vibes. Spicy miso ramen was delicious! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
I've only heard rave reviews about Izakaya so naturally I had to check it out. We started off with the crispy rice tuna appetizer, I've seen recipes for this particular dish online and have always wanted to try it but never got around to making it myself. It was very good, the rice was crisp but notably not greasy, and the spicy tuna on top was nice and fresh. For mains we went with their ramen, there are quite a few different styles and additions you can choose from but we chose to keep it classic and have their tonkotsu ramen. The NOODLES were nice and firm how I like it, the chashu was tender and fatty, the rest of the veg was tasty and the egg was great! I liked the little bit of sweetness it had. For dessert we partook in something called "momo musu" which is a scoop of peach ice cream in a white chocolate shell, dusted with "pink sand". The presentation was nice since it looked like an actual peach! Along with it came two french macarons, one peppermint and one almond as well as some fresh blueberries and strawberries. This was a light dessert but the flavors are sublime. Everything worked in this dessert. I hope to be back soon.
