The 16 Best Restaurants In Paddington

"The tahini-heavy fattoush salad at this Middle Eastern spot on Praed Street tastes too good to actually be healthy. But we’re not going to ask any questions, because that’s not the only dish at Mihbaj that tastes even better than it sounds. The maqluba—a traditional Levantine dish of layered aubergines, tomato, tender lamb, nuts, and rice—is an excellent, wholesome plate of food too. There's a warm, independent coffee shop atmosphere, with the menu—and wait times—of a full-blown restaurant. But rest assured, the food is just as good out of a takeaway box as it is in their tiny cafe. " - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

Mihbaj Review - Paddington - London - The Infatuation

"The tahini-heavy fattoush salad at this Middle Eastern spot in Paddington tastes too good to actually be healthy. But we’re not going to ask any questions, because that’s not the only dish at Mihbaj that tastes even better than it sounds. The maqluba—a traditional Levantine dish of layered aubergines, tomato, tender lamb, nuts, and rice—is an excellent, wholesome, huge plate of food that you’ll almost definitely end up taking home in a takeaway box. It’s a small space with limited seating and a back garden with a single table for when the weather’s cooperating. There's a warm, independent coffee shop atmosphere, with the menu—and wait times—of a full-blown restaurant. But even though you could end up having to get your food to go, rest assured, it’s just as good out of a box as it is in their dining room. " - Rianne Shlebak

Best restaurant food in a while!! Chicken fell off the bone and the sumac was fruity and sweet. The lamb dumplings were soft and the yoghurt sauce was tangy and garlicky. The olive oil quality was amazing and the flat bread was buttery. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Such a cute space as well and lovely Middle Eastern music plays while you eat.

A very lovely Palestinian restaurant in Paddington. We had a very warm welcome by one of the staff. We were seated immediately and menu given. The atmosphere in the restaurant or some may see this as a cafe is very lovely. It was nice and clean. The service was top notch. They are 100% halal. They have a big table for family gatherings and also they have an outside space where you can dine in too. Upon ordering the food, it took around 25mins to come to the table. The was OK. It was bit overcooked as the chicken were a bit dry. It was salty which actually made me thirsty. Overall a lovely restaurant. Next time I'll try the hot drinks and fresh bakeries.

Nice little cafe. Has a toilet inside & the service was quick. Had an English breakfast, shakshuka & karak chai. Was slightly higher priced but it was London so expected. When you go to pay the card machine asks if you want to leave a tip.

Food was delicious and located conveniently nearby the Paddington station. I ordered the Wafalafel that I had never seen before! It had a nice bite on the outside but still soft and moist on the inside. Also came with a delicious salad tossed with balsamic vinegar. Definitely need to dip it in the sauce for more flavor. My friend also enjoyed her tomato sauce braised okra that came with salad and a big plate of rice. The place opens early so it is great for grabbing something before a train ride. There’s also pastries for take away. It is a bit narrow and quite bustling so the service is not as attentive.

Had breakfast of the Açai bowl a couple of times. It was beautifully presented and tasted very good. My mocha was also well made and much needed start to the day.

A quaint little cafe located just across Paddington station. Enjoy Palestine food and hospitality.

Google
Excellent cafe with restaurant quality food with a middle eastern twist. We are boaters and move around all over the country and this is one place we return to again and again. We’ve been for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have recommended it to friends, family and strangers! At last visit we enjoyed their Shawarma Cauliflower with Tahini dressing and Okra and Tomato stew. Both were absolutely delicious. They have several vegan options - another reason we return. We will be back.

Food was delicious Staff very friendly Cosy airy and nice environment All Halal options Only thing didnt like the “karak chai”. Sachet tea ready mix. Dont go for this. Try some thing freshly made, do ask them. Lentil soap was so filling refreshing

Yelp
Yum!! I was planning on lentil soup and baba, but switched to the cauliflower dish. Blew my mind with presentation and flavors. Took photos and sent to foodie friends. Quiet relaxed atmosphere. Not self conscious dining solo.

Yelp
A fabulous restaurant that had very flavorful dishes. We tried the fried okra, a thinner okra than the US, which was split in half, then fried. The spicy red sauce was delicious and almost came with every dish. The sweet potato fries were actually the best in recent memory as they were warm and soft but fully cooked. The Safron rice was good too. My ground lamb skewers were delicious and it came with a healthy side salad of mixed Greens. Charlie the active had the lamb dumplings cooked in yogurt with pine nuts. Also delicious. You can't go wrong with stopping in and trying something new.

Yelp
Wow. A fantastic little hideaway. Get the maqluba. The best eggplant I've ever had with crispy skin. It's like Peking duck of eggplants.

Yelp
Was In London for two nights during the Euro 2024 football championship, so I watched a game at a nearby pub and on my way back to hotel saw this place, the name is what got me to try it out. I tried the halloumi & the chicken shish sandwich. Food was good and service was as good. I would try their main courses if I visit London again.

Yelp
I found this place close to my hotel. I wanted to try it, the menu looked good. I had the English breakfast and I enjoyed it. It was a cute little place, seating inside and out. I liked they had spots for solo diners. The food was good plus I had an Americano. Think I'll visit tomorrow and try the Levantine breakfast or just a coffee. Service was great and liked how close it was to my hotel. Enjoyed it on my stop in London.

Yelp
Great food... Cozy place. The lamb dumplings were amazing. I also recommend their hummus plate.

Yelp
Love the people and the atmosphere. The coffee was great and food delicious. Would recommend this place.

Yelp
Cool little cafe immediately across the street fro Paddington. Very clean and a couple of garden tables - which is a nice touch. I had an almond croissant and a berry smoothie. They were both fresh and delicious. Far better than you will get in the station. And the coffee was good too - and the service was prompt and friendly.

Yelp
So good! I literally had the best porridge of my life here! I got the date and banana porridge. It was warm and creamy with honey. The dates were such a good addition; I need to do this when I get home! Really cute little cafe next to Paddington station.

Natania A.

Yelp
Service was amazing and we loved our breakfast shakshouka. Beautiful Palestinian owned spot!
google avatar

Ronny T.

Yelp
We had a full sit down breakfast here on our first morning in London. I had the full English breakfast of course and others had the French toast and shaksuka. A bit on the more pricey side compared to other places, but everything was good and made to order. Service was friendly and efficient.

Liz P.

Yelp
Sitting on a padded bench in the cozy garden sipping great tea- leave paddington station and come here to eat! You won't regret it.

Yelp
Food is ok. This place is close to Paddington station. I wanna grab a quick bite before heading to the airport. I paid for a coffee and a pre-made sandwich (which only requires warming up), but it took them 30 mins to hand me the order. In the meantime, they were taking and giving other people's orders (who came after me). They only started making my order after I asked them to, and no apologies about "forgetting" my order. Either they don't know the concept of first-in-first-out, or they are low-key racist.

Latte Queen W.

Yelp
Adorable cafe with delicious aromatic coffees! Great service as well. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Fantastic little cafe near Paddington Station. Just far enough away that the crowds seems to dissipate a bit. I had a haloumi sandwich with a oolong tea on ice. My friend and I stopped here before she headed back to Canada, and we were happy to find a place to sit, relax and cool off for a bit. The week were where in London was boiling! The upstairs is quite busy and cramped, but there is additional seating downstairs, so if you're looking to escape for a place to study or just chill, head down to the basement. Tell the cashier if you're going to sit down there because they will bring you your order. The tables down there were all really cool wood, and it was just a chill place for us to hang out and talk before parting ways. I would definitely recommend this location as the atmosphere, and the flavors of the food were top notch!

Elysa S.

Yelp
Lovely spot - had a Palestinian omelet which was surprising and delicious. Can't wait to go again.
google avatar

Hannah W.

Yelp
After reading Yelp reviews I chose to have breakfast at this little cafe. The Arabic breakfast tea contains all of my favorite herbs: rosemary, thyme, mint and basil - yummy! I ordered Fluffy Ijjeh, a Palestinian omelette and it was heavenly! If you come out of Paddington Station onto Praed Street, turn left to get to this cafe.

Penelope M.

Yelp
Waiting for my Sister to arrive I remembered last time I was in London near Paddington a cool coffee shop so thought - let's see if it's still their ! Voila - it is Super nice friendly guys make the most delish latte - and I am a coffee geek ! Nice atmosphere and music - open to the street but no street noise - just pleasant music . Their pastries look super yummy - I had one last time but just the coffee itself is worth the very short 2 min walk from the station !

Yelp
Great little place. Got nice folks and good food... I'd love to come back to try more of the menu, we just got in from the States on a red-eye and needed breakfast!
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a cappuccino. Girl at the counter was civil but served us with indifference. May be just the weather since it's always raining. No inclination to try their food at a later date.

Sally F.

Yelp
Friendly and efficient team behind the counter. Coffee and muffin to go were delicious! Highly recommend

Peter S.

Yelp
The food was excellent as was the ambiance and music. However, when I just ordered water, they appear (and I say appear, because I can't know for sure) to have sorta punished me for a non-profit-maximizing transaction. Despite not really being busy at all, it took well over 30 minutes to bring out an item, while they occasionally sat at the tables and checked their phones. That or maybe it was my queerness, or perhaps it was nothing at all and I am being too sensitive.

B W.

Yelp
I went there a few nights ago and the guy behind the counter said that they are closed? Then why is your door wide open? Avoid this place.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
This is now called Mihbaj! Terrific vegetarian and vegan options with delightful Mediterranean overtones. I'll post the menu as a photo. Plus, lovely people. Good espresso, too! Less than a block from Paddington Station.

Catherine F.

Yelp
Amazingly delicious, unpretentious restaurant. Everything is perfect. We had both breakfast and then lunch because the flavours, presentation, quality and variety is excellent. Highly, highly recommend!
google avatar

Matthew W.

Yelp
Excellent latte and mocha just across the street from London Paddington Station! Glad I found this spot and will definitely come back again.
google avatar

Nica D.

Yelp
I'm really dissapointed I can't see the menu for this place for my brief stay so I have no idea if it's really vegan friendly as it came up in the yelp search results but I can't see any mention in the reviews or menu. Clicking on their website link through yelp shows they've stolen the content from someone and it's been removed. Super concerning. Yelp
I'm going to give this coffee a bit of credit, particularly since it is one of the trendier coffee shops along Praed Street (not that there are all that many because it seems to be competing with everything else). Anyway, I had walked past here a few times and decided that it might be an idea to check it out one morning, which is what I did. There was a nice courtyard out the back, and the staff were pretty cool, as was the coffee. Okay, while it wasn't one of the best drops of coffee that I have had, it was still pretty nice, and certainly worth the effort visiting here.

Yelp
An absolute gem! Who knew that on such a busy road, in the chaos of Paddington, near McDonalds, there could be such an oasis of delicious, healthy, beautiful food and kindly service? This is a perfect place -- the coffee, the food, the service, the ambiance. If you're arriving in Paddington and need to be well-fed or have good coffee, this place is it! SUCH clean, delicious food! And the Polish guy behind the counter is a sweetie. Highly recommend, and will always return! Let's keep this lovely place open forever. Support small, local business!
google avatar

Kassandra L.

Yelp
Welcoming restaurant, staff are lovely. You have to order and pay at the counter and then they will bring your meal to you. Got the spinach Benedict and it had what tasted like a honey mustard vinaigrette decorated around the plate - delicious! Cheapest breakfast I've had in London!
google avatar

Jacqueline W.

Yelp
Food was overpriced, tasteless, and took 35 minutes to receive. As an apology for taking so long, I received a hard coconut macaroon. Also, rap music was blaring for majority of time which is a bit much for a cafe. Very disappointed that I decided to come here. Good coffee though. And plenty of areas to sit with WiFi.
google avatar

Brett H.

Yelp
Great service, awesome quaint environment, friendly staff, clean bathrooms, and really good food.

Deborah H.

Yelp
Dropped in to this lovely cafe for breakfast as I arrived early at Paddington for my train. And I must say it was absolutely the right choice. Lovely and super attentive staff who were on hand recommending something a nice breakfast and a very relaxed atmosphere. Soft music in the background ensures that there is some privacy in the small coffee shop. Definitely my new favourite coffee place in the area

C W.

Yelp
Located right near Paddington station, I was a little worried it was for tourists and it may be BUT . . . the coffee is fantastic . . . the almond croissant makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Quick, warm, friendly :) A great way to start the morning.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
I want more porridge great fast friendly service. Thank you for a good start to the day Java u.

Richard T.

Yelp
This is a great little coffee shop right outside of busy Paddington. If you are looking for a spot right off the Heathrow express, go here. They had a fantastic veggie breakfast with poached eggs, which was a great start to a trip to London. They should toast the bread for avocado toast!!! The downstairs area is nice to sit and have your coffee and breakfast.

Robyn P.

Yelp
My husband and I arrived early into Heathrow - took the Express to Paddington and it was only 6am and really wanted that first coffee after 24 hours in a plane! Java U fitted the bill - opened at 6:30am, good coffee and some sweet things to eat. Great ambience and helpful staff as well as good wifi. Will return.

Meike B.

Yelp
Four stars mainly for making this dreadful stretch of Paddington a bit more attractive. So much so that the queues are quite impressive, but we were lucky to find a little table in an alcove downstairs. I only had a coffee on this occasion but sure to return to sample one of their delicious looking pastries.
google avatar

Meli C.

Yelp
Finding a good bfast is hard in a city foreign to you, but when you find an exceptional bfast place you have to let everyone know! This coffee house is around the corner from Paddington station and many hotels/B&Bs. We've tried their poached eggs, croissants, tea, cappuccinos, and other variety of foods. Absolutely the best! Reasonable prices and the staff is super friendly and hospitable. Five stars!!
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Very good coffee in a nice and relax ambient. Service is good and friendly and prices are OK. Great coffee shop.

Yelp
Great organic cafe with a cosy atmosphere great for a quick bite to eat. Tried the smoothies and the vegan chocolate cake they were delicious and tasted fresh.. I would definitely recommend this place if you are passing by especially now that it's winter for a great cup of coffee and some pastries.......thumps up

Eric G.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! Finally found some great coffee after days of searching. They get fresh bread delivered every morning. Near London Paddington hotel and across the street from Mercure hotel. A must go if in the area. Will definitely be back!

Mustafa F.

Yelp
I went there on several occasions lovely place to visit in Praed Street also the coffee and fresh salad and sandwiches are really tasty.
