"Chef Tim Liu threw his hat into the high-end (and high-stakes) sushi ring when he opened Mikado in Metrowest back in 2006, introducing not just quality cuts of fish from Tsukiji and Toyosu Fish Market but rare and lesser-found ingredients like sea pineapple, geoduck, Hanasaki crab, and striped beakfish. Liu’s loyal following spread to Maitland where he opened Boku, his slick little sushi joint at Maitland City Centre." - Faiyaz Kara

New to the area and have been to multiple sushi restaurants and have not found a place as good as Mikado. We were served quickly and accurately on a busy Saturday night with a party of 8. I will be back and strongly encourage anyone who reads this to try our favorite sushi place in Orlando.

Even though they get busy the service is amazing and the food is incredible! Every plate looks like literal art on a plate and it is made perfectly exactly how you ask. Love this place and we will definitely be back!

The food was very good and the service was friendly! I would like to give a 5 star (most of my reviews are), but I didn't feel like it was an excellent experience. Not a big deal, I ordered 3 rolls and the third came out after we had finished our meal. I don't complain, but an explanation or apology would have gone a long way. Its also a bit pricy, to be honest. Food wise - I enjoyed the Miso soup, the California roll was super good, and the tuna roll also was delicious. Nice atmosphere.

The environment is nice, but servers didn’t care about the bar, so we wait a long time. Talking about food, this was the one we liked least. They don’t have a lot of choices in rolls, three we ordered were just ok. Teriyaki chicken was very bland. They have a bar to seat, but do not have cocktails to order.

Jesus freakin Christ! This is one of the rare unexpected gems I found by surprise through Google. This place is awesome and the service, quality and price are great for what you get. The food is SO good! So much so that I almost didn’t want to write a review just to keep this place a secret. Just go! Highly recommend if you are an Orlando local or simply love sushi!

I like the restaurant decorations, service stuff are very nice, but I’m angry because feel chef not taking not serious on food, not professional! Can do better for first time customer, so hard trying to find Japanese restaurants who serve sea urchin

Was craving deep fried ice cream and after browsing, I found this place. Ended up getting some food along with the fried ice cream. Really enjoyed the food. Took it to go as I had ordered food for my boyfriend as well. Very clean and was getting busy while waiting for my food.

The sushi here is ALWAYS top notch! I’ve been coming here for almost 15 years and I’ve never been disappointed. A highly recommend this restaurant for sushi! -Danny Peña, Realtor

Yelp
Hidden gem alert! Mikado Sushi is now one of my go-to spots in Orlando. Tucked away discreetly, it might not catch your eye from the outside, but step inside and you'll find yourself in a modern yet cozy oasis. On a recent visit, every table was buzzing with patrons, and the to-go area was bustling with orders, creating a lively atmosphere. Our server was outstanding. He offered great recommendations and checked on us regularly, ensuring a positive dining experience without being intrusive. Now, let's talk about the food--wow! We kicked it off with the seaweed salad and the spicy krab meat salad. Then we had the Drama Queen and Out of Control rolls which were absolute winners --bursting with flavors and perfectly balanced proportions of filling to rice. Considering the quality and generous portions of the food, the prices were more than fair. This spot delivers on every front--from top-notch service to a vibrant atmosphere and outstanding sushi. I can't wait to be back and explore more of the menu.

Yelp
We visited Mikado on a Friday night. We had a reservation, so we were seated almost immediately. It's really dark in there, but the seats were fairly comfortable and it wasn't super loud. We started with an edamame, then I got a hand roll and a chirashi. The edamame weren't a super strong start for me. I felt that they didn't have much flavor beyond the spice. I would've loved something else in the flavor profile. The hand roll was a seasonal item and it was amazing. I honestly wish I would've had 3 of them. The chirashi was great, but it wasn't served as cold as I would've liked. It might be all in my head, but I prefer my chirashi very cold. The sake I got was also very good. The waitress was very attentive and very good at her job. I felt that she made great recommendations too. Would I go back to Mikado? Honestly I'm not sure. The food was great, and the service was awesome, but I think that there are a lot of really good sushi places down here, and mikado felt a little expensive for the food that we got.

Yelp
We were visiting family and went to this restaurant for the first time. Clean and spacious. We ordered several rolls: Seaweed salad Mango tango Godzilla Thai Pham Crunchy roll Rainbow roll Hot mama Drama queen Fried ice cream Service was great! Our waitress was very friendly and informative. Very reasonably priced as well! Will definitely be back when in the area.

Deanna L.

Yelp
The food and service is really good. The restaurant is nice, good for dates or a fancier hangout spot. I tried the Golden California Roll and the Spicy Scallop Roll, I liked both equally and would get them again next time I come.

Neil V.

Yelp
Excellent food!! Our go to in Orlando for some sushi. They always have the freshest fish and ingredients! We almost always get their Chirashi and nigiri moriawase. Highly recommend!!

Valeska J.

Yelp
I love sushi so much that I been in a search for a good spot. I found it the sushi is exquisite and fresh and everything is well cooked and seasoned. The service was good. The ambiance was great it wasn't overcrowded and the lights are dim. I was looking at the chefs prepare the food and they are so efficient with the time and the way they prepare everything with this perfection. I would definitely be back again.

Tyler W.

Yelp
Will be back! As others have said this location is very authentic, like nothing I've had since being to Japan! Everything is prepared to perfection, the fish is mild, and the meat is so tender it melts in your mouth.

Megan J.

Yelp
This is my father and I's go-to spot for our monthly get-togethers! I've been here over 5 times now, and I truly love this place. It's such a hidden gem! The sushi is consistently fresh, flavorful, and filling! The menu offers an incredible variety as well! The service has always been top-notch, super friendly, and comfortable. The restaurant is always clean and has such a charming vibe. I also love sitting at the sushi bar and admiring the chefs hard at work!

Vivian N.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday evening at 7pm without reservations and waited about 15 minutes. Noise level during dinner time is very loud ... understandable from other customers & jamming music. Sashimi Deluxe is fresh. I would like to come back for lunch because I was told it's more quiet during lunch time. Overall 4 stars worthy.

Yelp
Mannnn. I'm practically cryinggg giving this review because this has been our GO TO spot for over half a decade. We ordered in for my wife's 37th birthday since visiting this spot with two babies (newborn and 7mo old) and a toddler can be tough since seating is limited and we require two strollers. $150 later we're sitting here debating if we will ever go back to mikado again. The food was terrible. Period. The tako was warm, and the conch was tough. The rolls were so disappointing- soggy, falling apart, and the cucumber actually tasted spoiled to the point where I couldn't eat it. The nigiri was not proportioned. The gyoza tasted of old oil and had no flavor. The eel sauce seemed overly corn starched - so clumpy and gooey that it wouldn't stick to the food items. The one star is awarded to the miso - which was solid Man. Such a freaking bummer. Such a waste.

Joonsung S.

Yelp
We went for Valentine's Day and the food was excellent! We got some sushi and some fried chicken katsu. The chicken katsu is 10/10: perfectly crispy with the right amount of flavor but not too salty or dry which a lot of places do The sushi is 9/10: the sushi was amazing but it came out a little late (it was Valentine's Day so I expected it and it looks like they were getting tons of take out orders) The food was great, I would for sure give it a shot

Andrea D.

Yelp
What a great hidden gem! Our friends took us here for lunch sushi and it did not disappoint. It doesn't look like a 5-start restaurant from the outside but when you enter it's like tasting fish from Japan. There are a lot of seating options for the small restaurant. A table of 12 was accommodated near the booths. Not sure if they take reservations. We went for an early lunch. The menu is via QR code. Some items have pictures and some you may need to read. But I guarantee everything is delicious. Their service was also great. We were greeted very kindly. Other waitresses that weren't tending our table helped with dishes, water, and check. It was a great lunch dinning experience. We started with the Salmon sampler which came with a spicy salmon roll, seared salmon, and salmon sushi. I thought it would be a lot of salmon but the quality of salmon was so fresh, so good - it was almost not enough. We also ordered the Sashimi Lunch special which came with tuna, salmon, octopus, hamachi, and a really yummy scallop (omg). The fish here is so fresh and of great quality. We went here an hour before we had to get ready for a wedding because we just did not want to miss it.

Yelp
My fav sushi spot in Orlando! It only took one trip but it did the job. When I lived in Orlando I always had the hardest time finding a good sushi spot to live up to the standards I had coming from South FL but I have to say, Mikado is a gem! Came here for a lil celebratory dinner and it did not disappoint. My friends are regulars here and they recommended the Toro Uni handroll above all else. Although pricey, this handroll is sooooo worth it. We also ended up getting a few other things to share- Tnt Lover Roll & the Trio Nigiri. It was the right amount for the three of us and we enjoyed every last bite of it all. The service was speedy and friendly and the interior was intimate and clean.

Brenda T.

Yelp
I think this sushi spot made it to my top 5 in Orlando! Quality sushi for decent prices. I came on a Tuesday night and a reservation wasn't really necessary but the kind host made one anyway since there were 7 of us. Simple decor, clean. There is a sushi counter with seating and you can see the chefs at work. Everything we ordered was top notch. I really enjoyed the Hokkaido scallop nigiri, as well as the out of control roll and the foxy lady roll. The most memorable was the scallop & uni toast! I would definitely come back here.

Yelp
My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience here for our anniversary. We ordered the sushi & sashimi boat, miso soup, and an appetizer of karage (japanese fried chicken). The karage was not very crispy and too salty for my liking. However, I enjoyed the miso soup. It had a good amount of diced tofu and seaweed, and it had subtle sweetness that paired well with umami. The sushi and sashimi boat was the star of the show. The sashimi was cut well and tasted fresh. I also like how well the sushi rice was packed under the slices of fish. The rice didn't fall apart when picked up or dipped in soy sauce. The presentation was beautiful. My husband and I ate our fill and had some leftovers at the end. Service was good. I appreciated how our waitress offered to move us to a bigger table after they saw that our sushi boat would not fit comfortably at our original table. That provided a lot more comfort and space to us. Tip: Check in your party ahead of time before you get to the restaurant to avoid a longer wait!

Lindsay S.

Yelp
I think I've found a new sushi spot and it's close to the house, so that's a plus!! It's in a strip mall and super unassuming, but wow!! The service, the food was all exceptional!! We got gyoza and California rolls for the kids, and some specialty rolls for the hubby. I ordered the chirashi and the presentation was beautiful and for the amount of fish you get (including Uni) the price was great! They also have a lot of different Japanese beers that we haven't seen before. My husband really liked the ipa he ordered!

Alisha M.

Yelp
So far our favorite sushi date spot in Orlando. The rolls here are so fresh and flavorful! My husband and I order at least 5 or 6 rolls every-time we come here and it's always so delicious and consistent! The TNT lover and Drama Queen are some of my top favorites! Definitely give this place a try if you're craving good sushi!

Susanna G.

Yelp
Food good I guess. No menu. Either scan a QR code or use one small shitty tablet. Give me an actual menu please or I will not be coming back. Not worth the aggravation.

Kachun L.

Yelp
Checked out this place today because of the amazing pictures on this yelp. First of all, I gotta say that the food is surely decent! Recommend this place, however the soft shell crab was so so and A5 was okay... but terrible but not as good as we expected. Service was good.Even it was the 2nd day for her, she had good smile and kind services. Place is clean, and they gave us 10% off because of the A5 was not good. I would really recommend this place if you want legit Japanese sushi

Tim J.

Yelp
While visiting Orlando, we decided to check this place out. As many have already suggested, I also do recommend making a reservation as this place can get pretty busy. We made reservation, but still waited for about 15 minutes before we were seated. Now, let's get to the point- their sushi was one of the freshest and tastiest sushis I have had in Florida and Hokkaido Uni was from heaven- It is pricey, but I recommend getting a piece or two at least. The Monaka was also savory and had no fishy smell. Overall, loved the food and will definitely come back

Yelp
Mikado Sushi is a hidden gem in Orlando, Florida. The fish is always fresh and beautifully presented, and the flavors are simply outstanding. The meal was a true culinary experience that could rival the most delicious sushi I have ever enjoyed. The bluefin tuna was melt-in-your-mouth and the other ingredients added to the overall flavor profile of each piece. The chefs seem to take great care in the presentation of each dish, making them as visually appealing as they were delicious. They were soo good that I ended up ordering myself a few extra o-toro pieces as nigiri. Overall, Mikado Sushi is a must-try for any sushi lover. The food is top-notch and the presentation is unique. I highly recommend the bluefin tuna. It can be expensive, but in my opinion it is well worth it.

Nabeel N.

Yelp
Great find in the middle of Orlando. Recommend making reservations or have a seat at the sushi bar. Great service, good sake and the most awesome selection of sushi. We did the Mariowase, and a few rolls (Ceviche and Dragon Fly) along with the tuna appetizer. Simply amazing food.

David P.

Yelp
Nestled in Metrowest, this sushi restaurant is a piscatorial paradise offering a diverse array of impeccably fresh fish options. From buttery sashimi to meticulously crafted rolls, each bite is a testament to the quality of their seafood. The menu boasts a spectrum of flavors, catering to both traditionalists and those seeking inventive combinations. The ambiance complements the culinary experience, striking a balance between modern aesthetics and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or a newcomer to the delicacy, this restaurant in Metrowest is a standout destination for a memorable and delectable seafood feast.

Torrie W.

Yelp
Nice casual place. Sushi menu is huge. My favorite is the Mexican Roll because it's not raw. I love the option of not having raw food. The chicken teriyaki is so tender! Awesome flavor. The setting ambiance and food is a great combination. Nice date night or family get together.

MiZzRed89 ..

Yelp
Tried this place recently and was pleasantly surprised...most of the time it's more miss than hit but the food was spot on. Staff was super nice and attentive, plus the decor was nice and CLEAN... especially the bathroom. Will be here more often

Danielle Y.

Yelp
Great sushi spot in the neighborhood with fresh sushi! My favorite is the dragon roll because I love eel. The service was fast. The place wasn't busy on a weekday so that was nice. Place is cozy and ambiance is nice! Been here a few times already.

Suzanne C.

Yelp
Bring back the paper menus and the specials board! I love this place. Best fresh sushi in all of Orlando. It's been 3 yrs since I've been here (moved away) This was my lunch spot once a week for years. The chef is like a former Nobu chef. The presentation is exquisite, if you are a purist this is your sushi spot. A must, sit at sushi bar.

David J.

Yelp
Rating : 6.8/10 While the price point was fairly reasonable, I was disappointed by the size of the rolls (see picture; the ratio of rice to fish left a bit to be desired) and the fish was not as fresh as I would have hoped. Overall, a good neighborhood sushi spot, but not top tier. Pros: the combo was nicely displayed, price point was reasonable Cons: small rolls for $8 (mostly rice), fish was not super fresh, overall restaurant atmosphere felt a bit chaotic

Sean C.

Yelp
Don't let the hard-to-find parking scare you off. There is a reason this lot is so full - it's because Mikado is that good! The restaurant is quite small, so I would advise going in an off-hour or be prepared to wait for a bit while they work through their list. However, that wait is worth it. I must start my meal with gyoza and this was no exception. The gyoza was fried perfectly with a great dipping sauce on the side. These made the wait for the table worth it. Next, we got tons of different types of sushi to try. After looking at other tables, I found more that I need to try, but I was too stuffed on this trip to get any more. The Drama Queen roll was marked as a favorite, but I wasn't as impressed as others' seemed to have been. It was good, but I'm not going back to get that. However, I will be going back for a Volcano & Dragonfly roll as those looked incredible.

Kate E.

Yelp
super tasty and delicious bites! loved everything we ordered! we ordered the seared tuna truffle which was delicious as well as the tuna lover set! staff was friendly and knowledgeable. restaurant is on the smaller side, but is a cozy.

Victoria H.

Yelp
The best sushi I have tried in the city. Every time we come in town I make a point to come here and eat. The spicy edamame is soooo good. Also sushi is very fresh and flavorful. I wish I could come here more often. I'm forever fan.

Mariana B.

Yelp
The environment is nice, but servers didn't care about the bar, so we wait a long time. Talking about food, this was the one we liked least. They don't have a lot of choices in rolls, three we ordered were just ok. Teriyaki chicken was very bland. They have a bar to seat, but do not have cocktails to order.

Alexander R.

Yelp
Firstly, the service deserves 6 starts instead of 5. Spectacular. If every establishment had service like this, the world would be a better place. Never got the name of the waitress, but the tall young lady was incredibly polite, helpful and attentive. Never bothered me in the middle of a course either. 10/10. If you come here, I suggest you go straight for the chef's samplers. Those items are the best experience you'll have here. As far as the food itself - delicious, high quality, worth the time, worth the money. Take your time with each course. Really taste and breathe the flavors. Also 10/10. I live in Miami, but I will return whenever I come to Orlando.

Sook K.

Yelp
My favorite sushi place. Since pandemic price went up by 25-30%. But still for the price and quality of food, this is my go to sushi place. Pictures are from lunch. Chirashi was good but not for $45. I could not really taste black truffles. My husband said he could taste it but to me it was just whatever. Not sure if I wanted to pay extra for a slices of truffle mushroom. But only complaint I had this time was wait. We had to wait longer than 30 minutes during lunch time. We got there around 12:30 and food came out after 1pm. It was a long wait for lunch time.

Luciana B.

Yelp
Really good food and amazing staff that is always nice and friendly. One of those places that you always keep in mind

Jennifer S.

Yelp
The food is great but the service is horrible, me and my boyfriend look young so I think the servers believe they won't get tipped good but we are both servers and we always tip over 20% especially at mikado since the food is great, it took 20 minutes for the server to greet us even when we had a reservation. We have been here multiple times and all those times the service is horrible. Hire better people that don't judge how there tip is before they get it. And don't get me started on the hosts they are the nastiest attitude and are super judgmental whenever I come in here I don't feel welcome at all, we got sat right in front of the host stand so they just stood there for 20 mins looking at us while they knew no one has greeted us.

Melissa L.

Yelp
Definitely come here for the uni. It was fresh, creamy and melted in your mouth. The Tuna Tasting was so worthwhile each dish was perfectly prepared and compliments one another with different flavors in each piece. Sashimi is fresh and service was alright, could have been faster since we were the only ones inside. 4/5 stars due to mediocre service and the price point. Would come again for only certain dishes.

Eric M.

Yelp
A fame well earned A very popular sushi spot in Orlando and its fame is well earned. There's a wide range of sushi rolls and other Japanese dishe. The staff is attentive and professional and, most importantly, sushi is great and the price is reasonable.

Ren H.

Yelp
Ok, where do I even start? I love sushi and this place takes it to the next level. The food is incredibly fresh and the flavours of their rolls are out of this world. They definitely have specials and I always recommend trying them because you'll never know. That's what happened to us. There was a new roll with shaved truffle carpaccio and it was probably one of the best rolls I've ever had. Service is always friendly and helpful. This place is truly a hidden gem.

Bryane M.

Yelp
Best sushi in town I always recommend this place they have the best spicy salmon roll and everything is so fresh

Tim M.

Yelp
Where to start...where to start? I'll start with grilled octopus. Not something you see in a sushi restaurant so had to try. Money! The group of seven shared several rolls, each unique. Each special in their own right. If you haven't been there, make it a point. Sushi done well!!

Alina C.

Yelp
I can't help but keep returning to Mikado for delicious sushi and desserts. It's family friendly and their menu is a treasure of flavors, with the sushi being standout choices for me, especially the Volcano roll. Not only is the food a delight, but the warm and attentive service makes every visit a relaxing experience.

Diana N.

Yelp
Mikado is definitely a hidden gem here in Orlando and it's a staple in my restaurant rotation. The quality here is unmatched, the ingredients are so fresh and no matter what dish you order, you'll notice that. My favorite roll is the toro maki, but I regularly try new ones. I also really love the Philadelphia roll. Although this roll is simple and available at most sushi places, the one at mikado is unmatched because they use fresh salmon instead of smoked salmon which I prefer. I ordered take out this time around but I the restaurant itself is very cute. The service in person can be a little slow, I've even seen my food just sitting at the sushi bar for 5+ minutes before it's brought to us but the location gets pretty busy.

Melissa L.

Yelp
Excellent service and food! You can tell ingredients are fresh! We sat at the bar and ordered tuna tataki (amazing), Spicy crab meat salad (oh my!). Our rolls... Spicy tuna Mikado Drama Queen Out of Control Hot Mama Volcano Lion King This is our FAVORITE sushi restaurant in Orlando!

Destiny V.

Yelp
The food here was SO good. I brought my friend here to take her sashimi and nigiri virginity, also eel. Let me tell you it was so good, so fresh and yummy! I would definitely say the quality is definitely on the higher end of the scale which I always appreciate. The cooks were super quick and still managed to be yummy. The only downside was the service, I wasn't able to get more water after my first cup because they never came back, ran out napkins & waiting 15 minutes for soy sauce. They never asked us how it was going and we had to flag them down to order more food after our appetizer they just kept walking by us and were acting as if I was annoying them when I was ordering food. Besides that, the food is delicious.

Coty S.

Yelp
This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Orlando. The #1 dish to order is the Nigiri Moriawase. It is a little pricey, but totally worth it for a mini-omakase experience that won't break the bank. Typically, an omakase meal is $150 minimum at most restaurants. Here, two can dine deliciously for that amount. All of their chef recommended rolls are great here, if you don't like raw fish. A amazing find in a tiny strip mall on the outskirts of Orlando. I like to stop here for a quick dinner before driving home back to Tampa.

Klea J.

Yelp
A must dine in, a must try. If you're adventurous and looking for raw sushi tastings, I would recommend trying a dish from their seasonal menu. The quality and the creativity behind these dishes are unique and so delicately flavored! They are on the pricier side, but definitely an experience worth trying. I especially enjoyed their hand rolls (Uni fan here). As far as their Makimono or rolls, there is a good selection to choose from. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the sandwich style. Located in a small plaza, the atmosphere is intimate and inviting inside. Great for a date night :) Just make sure you reserve in advance by calling

Orita I.

Yelp
We came to visit my brother who lives close by and had a desire to eat sushi! Neither one of us are familiar with the area so after searching yelp and looking at different options and their reviews we decided to give Mikado a try. I do not regret!!!! Loved the interior decor and ambiance! They played modern top music which I do not dislike! The staff was warm and inviting from the entrance and we had a very nice, friendly server. I wish I remember her name! We tried the seafood soup for 2 which was not bad but not my favorite because I don't like the type of thick consistency it had. Taste wise it was good. But what followed was, I could almost say, epic! We both ordered a conch salad which was exquisite followed by a salmon tiradito to write home about! The presentation was beautiful on all the plates. We will definitely come back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something more than ordinary!

A. C.

Yelp
(4/19/2023) we've gotten carry out at work a few times from Mikado. It's a nice little place at a strip mall at Raleigh and Hiawassee. Parking lot is tight and the line for takeout often long. Service at the hostess stand, which triples as the phone order taker and takeout station means it might take a long, long time to get acknowledged when you walk in. The food is very good, and packaged well, and a good value for high quality. Just be prepared to wait a while.

Olivia B.

Yelp
This is top 5 for sushi spots in Orlando! Occasions: Date night (Casual/Dressy Casual), friend date or get together, quick bite, takeout. I am impressed from the interior (I didn't get pictures), to the food, the cleanliness, and the genuine hospitality of the workers. I was looking for a good sushi spot this past Monday as my regular spot is closed. When I stumbled upon Mikado, I figured I would give it a try after reading the wonderful reviews. My family (4) arrived and was immediately seated around 7:30 pm. Our server was very sweet and quick to arrive to our table for drink orders. While we waited for our drinks I took a trip to the bathroom and was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the restroom. It seemed that they paid close attention to it. When I returned and we decided on our orders she took them and we waited in anticipation looking around at everyone's appealing dishes. Our rolls and sides arrived in about 10-15 minutes and we were ready to dig in. We ordered: Magic Roll, Alaskan Roll, Mexican Roll. My mouth is watering as I think about these rolls. My favorite would probably be the Mexican roll if I had to choose! Each roll was FRESH, flavorful, and full. I was very impressed with the size of the rolls as well. You could tell they were not skimping out on the fish itself or the extra stuff inside. Sides: Both the fried rice (no veggie) and noodles were INCREDIBLE. It's often that these are quickly whipped up and it's obvious in the taste, but these side dishes seemed fresh and full of flavor. I will definitely be ordering takeout from them! I will 100% be back to Mikado Sushi and I look forward to ordering takeout in the future to compare the experience!
