We had Mike & Jeff's BBQ cater the Greenville Chamber's annual Manufacturers Celebration. For more than a dozen years, our menu has always featured some sort of local BBQ. I wish I had known about Mike & Jeff's sooner! Food was superb and it was service with a smile, from initial order to day of set up. If you are coordinating a corporate event, give them a try!

Truly one of the last great old school bbq joints in the Greenville area. Not only plentiful portions but absolutely delicious food as well. It’s a hole in the wall kinda place and that just adds to how great this place is!

Mike and Jeff's is one of the last SC BBQ style restaurants in Greenville, and it's absolutely perfect. Growing up here, most BBQ places were basically smoke-filled shacks on the side of the road, and there was no better place to eat. Walking into Mike and Jeff's is like walking back into my childhood here in Greenville. Beyond the nostalgia, their food is excellent, all of their sauces are delicious (if you like truly spicy BBQ sauce, ask for their XXX Sauce, it's by request only, and it's spectacular), and their pulled pork and ribs are excellent (the ribs are country style ribs, not baby back), the sides are great, and their cheeseburgers are surprisingly good. Definitely a hidden gem in Greenville, and well worth the trip anytime.

Fantastic BBQ in Greenville from such an unassuming location. I would have never thought the food would have been as good as it was from a first impression of the location but I was blown away. The prices were reasonable and the food was really second to none if you’re a BBQ fan. The establishment was very clean, the staff was great, always there to refill and ask if they can get you anything. The only mild complaint is you should make sure you get there early for lunch or carry out, the dining area is quite small.

Got the large rib plate with Mac and cheese and onion rings added a side if sweet potato souffle, husband had Large pulled pork plate with banana pudding and Mac and cheese. The sauces were great but didn't need them for the pulled pork. Enjoyed the pulled pork 100% better than the ribs. All the sides we're so amazing. I wanted to try them all! Staff was so friendly and we will be back! Prices were exceptional as well compared to many other BBQ places! After 21 years if them being here, I can't believe we're just finding it, but, better late than never!

SOLID BBQ, BUT THE SAUCE IS BOSS I called in an order for Ribs and Pork and it was waiting on me when I got there. The smoke on the pork was really good. Permeated. However the texture was like its was a day old. The ribs are meaty and juicy but weren't the freshest either. The sauce tho, I love it. One of the best I've had and that took it to another level. I would love to try the plate again when I can get it hot off the smoker. The atmosphere is great. It's a no frills BBQ shack on a residential corner with an old school vibe. A hidden gem for sure. Keep it fresh Mike and Jeff. You know what you are doing!

My first time here and what a hidden gem of a restaurant! Delicious Southern BBQ with homemade sides, in an old but quaint building on the west side of Greenville. Fast and friendly service, and reasonable prices...but the food is the main attraction here. I tried the mac and cheese, baked beans, and potato salad...the latter being my favorite. Many more options and I'll be back soon to try a few more.

Great food & service. The pulled pork was perfect. Was there with local friends last month. They put their efforts into the food and do not seem to waste money on anything new regarding the place. Great value. Caveman size portions.

Are. You. Kidding. Me. Delicious. Last year, I unexpectedly discovered that South Carolina might have my favorite BBQ. On our way back from camping in North Carolina we had to make a stop to try a new to us bbq place in SC. So glad we picked this one. I would come back every single day if I could and my body would allow it. Since we were traveling, we shared a combo plate with the ribs, pulled chicken, and pulled pork along with more sides than necessary but that's how I live as well as really good sweet tea. Every single thing was good even the sides which can sometimes take a backseat at bbq places. We tried but couldn't finish it all without dying traveling back, we were able to take the remainder to go and packed it in the cooler and luckily it made it home to finish that night! Did I mention the sauces!! I was sad they didn't have any bottles available to purchase at the time because I'll be dreaming of that hot sauce. They set up the outdoor table for us since we had our dog and everyone was beyond friendly. HIGHLY recommend this place.

Just moved here from NYC 4 months ago. This was the place. A co worker has told me about this, any time I hear "old school or in a non slandering way hole in the wall place" I know it's quality. I hope you guys don't take offense!! This was the BEST BBQ I've had in a LONG TIME! I truly mean that, you can see the smokers from outside! Loved it! The lemonade must've been home made it was delicious! They gave us a pitcher! First order was, ribs/chicken/pulled pork. It was all worth every dime, even though I would've like the ribs to be crispier the flavor was delicious. Big portions also and NOT EXPENSIVE AT ALL!! Fries & onion rings included! Hush puppies! Little sweet corn bread balls! Amazing especially with the butter dip! Mac & cheese we do prefer more cheeses, but still can't complain. Came with carrots inside My lady had the pulled pork sandwich , which was great! The hot bbq sauce/ regular at the table was great ! The sauce was so sweet I bought 1 to go to support local and small mom & pop establishments. All this for $27 STEAL! I'll be there again! Thank you! I enjoy putting my hard earned $$s into this establishment

Drive a little too fast and you might accidentally pass by Mike & Jeff's but if you do, turn around quick! This is such a hole in the wall and delicious win for BBQ. The service is friendly and food comes out fast. They have a cozy room with six tables and the walls are decked out with old Coca Cola signs and tons of pig decor. The BBQ sauces are on point! They have a mustard based sauce that was my favorite. It was a creamy tangy mustard flavor. They also have a mild and hot red BBQ sauce that tasted like it was tomato based. We asked for their spiciest option...it's a blend of ghost pepper, Carolina reaper and another pepper that I'm not familiar with but sounded like it would be a doozy. I'm usually not one who can handle the heat, but I thoroughly enjoyed its kick! - Pulled pork plate: Delicious!! Probably half a pound of meat with two sides for less than $8. Worth it! - Ribs: Get this as a combo with the pulled pork and you'll have food for days. The meat falls off the bone and it was super tender and flavorful. - Baked beans: Tasty and has more of a tangy flavor than most baked beans I've had. - Hand cut fries: None of that floppy fries stuff here! These are real solid fries and definitely tasted like they were made right then. - Sweet potato soufflé: melts in your mouth and leaves that warm cinnamon flavor - Mac and cheese: I'm usually not one that will go for Mac and cheese. And this was probably my least favorite side.

Good bbq. Chopped.. defatted..abundance of food for a highly reasonable price. Owners are friendly and welcoming. No need to look elsewhere..you will not find better!

They catered our wedding reception, and everyone raved about how good the food was. Hands down the best BBQ we've ever had, and we highly recommend them. Thank you so much for the amazing food, friendly service, and being so easy to work with!!!

I don't want to tell you that Mike and Jeff's is great. I don't want you to know that the chicken is the sleeper on the menu (tender, moist, and so good). I don't want you to ruin this delightful dive. SO yeah, I'm a fan of this location. There is nothing Hipster about Mike and Jeff's - this place is a comfortable dive with quick service, affordable prices, and a rather Smokey bbq. I prefer the chicken at this location, and it brings me back time and time again. But. Don't go to Mike and Jeff's. That way there will be more for me.

Best BBQ in Greenville. It's my go to for catering/to go orders for big groups and tailgating. The people that work there are so genuine and kind. Portions are generous. Banana pudding can't be beat for dessert.

Great food, great staff, great price. It's a small hole in the wall place but those always seem to be the best, and this one is! If you're coming to Greenville, you gotta stop in for some food! The only drawbacks I can think of are the restaurant was a little warm from all the equipment, and the parking lot is not very big. Those are 2 very little things I can get over easily since the food was so great and the service was amazing.

You've heard of a hole in the wall? Mike and Jeff's meets that criteria. Not one fancy inch in the entire place, but the BBQ is OUTSTANDING. Enter by the cash register, pass a bar set up, and head to the main dining room with lovely wood benches, wood tables and wood paneled walls. But it's not grandiose, just rustic! It seats about 20. The aroma of hickory smoke permeates the entire place. The menu consists of pulled pork, chicken and more--sandwiches, plates with two sides, a bun, the usual BBQ stand selections. We both had a pulled pork plate, mine with onion rings and slaw, his with french fries and slaw. Delicious slaw, abundance of fries, and really crispy onion rings. The pork is lean and tender and there are 3 delicious sauces. The servings were so ample we brought home our lunch for the next day in the form of our leftovers!The 1/2 and 1/2 tea was fresh and refreshing. Our adorable waitress, Jessica, was SO accommodating and dedicated to serving us and making sure we were enjoying our meal that she was the frosting on the cake! We had arrived 30 minutes before closing but you'd have thought we were the first customers of the day. It was a pleasure to be treated so respectfully.

Well, they did it again!! They did not disappoint!! If I had known Mike & Jeff deliver through Bite Squad now, I would have NEVER tried the other barbecue place, who shall remain nameless (I did a review on them though...lol). When my husband and I were just visitors in Greenville, M&J was one of the first places we tried, and we fell in love with the food and the staff. Then when we moved to Greenville, we tried them again. Not only did one of the staff remember me, I believe her name is Amy or Annie, but the food was still delicious. We ordered platters today and all I could do was smack my lips, lick my fingers and do the happy dance. They just do it the way I like it. Here's the breakdown... The Ribs : Just the right amount of smoke flavor, tender and seasoned just right. Finger lickin' good... The Pulled Pork : Juicy, moist and with the bun and barbecue sauce to boot, just delicious... The Chicken : Perfection! Next... The Hush Puppies : Addictive! Seriously, I had to make myself stop eating them so I could save some for later. So good... The Macaroni & Cheese : Very good and cheesy and seasoned well. I make some of the best Southern Baked Macaroni & Cheese out there, so trust me on this... The Sweet Potato Casserole : Sweet, good and satisfying with a delicious pecan streusel.... The Green Beans : My husband said they were very good, and he is a picky eater, so there you go... The Quantity : The portions are a nice amount. I had half for lunch and the rest for dinner and I was full... Suggestions : TRY MIKE & JEFF'S

I rate this as five stars because this is the best BBQ in Greenville, SC. These guys know how to handle a pig. The Chopped Pork, the Ribs and the Chicken are some of the best around. Now, eating at the restaurant isn't for the faint of heart. First, they have a window air-conditioning unit that tends to blow the smell of smoke back into the restaurant so you will leave smelling like a smoked ham. This isn't really a complaint, just an observation. If I want this for the family, I order it to go, I do occasionally take clients here as the dive aspect tends to appeal to those who are only used to our fancier downtown restaurants. The workers are always super-friendly and attentive to your needs when eating. This Wednesday I had a meal catered for a group downtown and event went perfectly, everyone loved the food. It looked so good, I went by Mike & Jeff's on my way home to get my own order of food. Unlike a lot of our other upstate BBQ places, these guys also have great BBQ sauce. If you go, please order the Hush Puppies as they are fantastic, I also recommend the Cole Slaw and Potato Salad. While the restaurant is covered in Coca-Cola memorabilia they serve Pepsi products.

Best tasting barbecue in upstate South Carolina. We've tried many and keep going back to Mike and Jeff's. Went today for a late lunch. Had the pulled pork plate with fried okra, hush puppies, and coleslaw. My wife had the same but with onion rings instead of hush puppies. Yum. So good! The pulled pork is smoky excellent. I tried the hot bbq sauce, but my favorite is the mustard-based. Place is small and classic old school (some might say funky, but it is what it is.) Service is excellent, and we had plenty left over to take home. If you're looking for good bbq, this is the place.

Finally tried Mike & Jeff's after months of hearing how great it is.. So glad I did. Definitely a hole in the wall, but the food is outstanding. They have a small seating area or can fix a to-go order in less than 10 minutes.. We opted for to-go. We had two pulled pork plates, one with baked beans and hush puppies and one with onion rings and coleslaw. The plates were piled full and each came with a bun and two sauces.. All for under $18! The pork and the baked beans both had an amazing smokey flavor.. The hush puppies were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The coleslaw complimented everything well, and I ended up throwing a little bit on my sandwich. They offered mild, hot, or mustard based sauce. I tried the mild and mustard based and enjoyed them both. I mixed them together and was in love. I really wanted to try the mac and cheese but they were out for the evening... Which gives me another great reason to come back! Parking is sparse but there is a large lot right next door. Definitely stop in and give it a try!

We stopped here on a road trip on our way through town. Kenny walked us through the menu and how to order. The food was delicious- especially the corn bread! Do NOT leave without trying some!

We eat here at least once every time we visit G'burg. My son says the bbq sandwich is the best he has ever had and I am addicted to the Sloppy Jethro. The sides are good too. Your drinks come in a huge glass and the staff keep them filled. Its just a great place to eat and in a quiet section of town on rover road. The mixed drinks are amazing BTW.

Pulled pork Awesome smoky flavor and very moist I usually hate ketchup based sauce but their mild sauce wasnt overly sweet and had a full bodied flavor. A+++ on pulled pork Macaroni - awful, dont bother with it. Just mushy and gross Hush puppies were fantastic Sweet potatoes crunch was super yummy Very sugary so definitely a desert not a side But so yummy

For lunch, ordered to-go...family owned and operated hole in the wall about 2 miles northwest of downtown in the Sans Souci area. The BBQ is authentic, slow cooked, wood-fire style. We tried a sampler of pulled pork, chicken and ribs. The pulled pork and chicken were excellent...tender, smoky and delicious. The mac & cheese, hushpuppies and homeade banana pudding were also great. The ribs were just OK. Very friendly and prompt staff, generous portions, kid friendly, great value...Not much seating inside or parking outside. Will definitely return.

Catering review: I was attending an industry even where lunch was provided. Mike and Jeffs was the food of choice for the day and it was delicious. The selection was rather limited: bbq, chicken, baked beans, mac and cheese, and sweet potato pie. I can honestly say everything was delicious Even the hot sauce that I added to the bbq. The meat itself was so tender and juicy without being greasy. Not sure how they did it but they did. All of the sides were great with the mac and cheese being one of the best. The sweet potato pie was a very nice dessert to finish off the meal. I had two full plates and wanted to take more home. I will have to check out the physical restaurant. Awesome food!!!

I may work in the white collar world but I'm a blue collar guy at heart. I love diners, hole in the walls, gritty parts of the city, so when I find a joint in the less desirable part of town with good reviews I'm down. Stopped in on a Sat afternoon around 1, smoke rolling outside, place is a dive, 4-5 tables along with a few barstools. Waitress was a sweetheart, tattooed up, punctuated replies with "sugar, dear, sweetie" on top of her game she covered the whole area w/o missing a beat. Perusing the menu I get the ribs, pulled pork, hush puppies and coleslaw and wife and I split the fried bologna sandwich. Sandwich comes out quick, white bread, mustard only of course. Childhood memories come flooding back. Food came out ribs were ok, pulled pork was tasteless, smokey flavor almost non existent, coleslaw pretty good, hush puppies golden brown and crunchy. Sandwich was great, along with hush puppies, pork however just wasn't good. Maybe this was just a one off but this was my second BBQ stop in as many days. I really wanted to like this place because it's right up my alley however 3 stars imo is right. If I lived in the area I would hit this up again before making a final judgement.

I recently ordered to-go from Mike & Jeff's due to the pandemic. All of the food options made it really hard for me to decide so I picked a ton. I got the rib and pulled pork combo. My sides were greenbeans and fried okra. I also got an additional side of macaroni and cheese and sweet potato soufflé and a large sweet tea. The restaurant is definitely text book definition of hole in a wall but had decent parking for maybe 6-7 cars. This place is easy to miss so slow down when approaching. The staff member there was extremely friendly. My order was ready in minutes as I only live about 5 minutes away and left immediately after I ordered. The pulled pork was very juicy and the ribs had a great flavor. Not overcooked or overly smokey like some places. The sauce they gave me was delicious(unsure which it was and was not overly sweet or tangy)I really enjoyed the sides. The mac and cheese is great for those who like their mac on the softer side. Fried okra is the BOMB and a generous amount was given! Crispy and not overcooked! Oh and let me not forget the best sweet potato souffle Ive had in a long time! Cant wait to order again!! Great experience!

I think this is the best bbq place in greenville hands down. Their pulled pork is awesome, their sauces are incredible. definitely worth it!

I had Mike and Jeff's cater for my large (100+) event at a venue. They were extremely courteous and hospitable throughout the entire process. I was able to edit my order even after I received the original invoice. Ashley gladly made the changes for me and sent out a new invoice promptly. We had chicken, pulled pork, green beans, sweet potato soufflé, and Mac n cheese. All of the food was delicious. Their catering orders also come with 3 types of sauce, sweet tea, lemonade, plastic forks, styrofoam sectioned dinner plates, styrofoam cups, and napkins. The tea and lemonade are not the best quality, but their main focus is the food, which is amazing. Jeff himself came to set up my catering prior to the event. He came early and took care of everything for me. All I did as set up two tables with table clothes. He told me where he put everything and made sure I was okay with the set-up. One of our personal drink dispensers began to leak after filling it with tea and he even stayed and helped us fix it.

Without a doubt, the best best pulled pork in Greenville, SC. Great smoked flavor, great sauces, (even though you don't need them) and great sides. If I don't have time to smoke my own, these guys are the only place in town I go for great smoked BBQ.

You can not better BBQ than Mike&Jeffs. Shout out to Tennille who knows this menu backwards and forwards. The Large Pulled Pork sandwich is big enough to share between two. The Coldslaw and the Baked Beans are two perfect side dishes. Good price at under $10. My husband and I have tried a lot of BBQs Around Greenville--but this one will bring you back to the Old South. Bravo!!!

Tiny spot that's easy to miss, classic look and feel for southern BBQ comfort food. Super friendly staff in an absolutely no frills dining area. Come in, seat yourself, order at the table. The usual suspects and I tried three different lunch choices. We had the large Pulled Pork Plate ($9.95 w/ 2 sides), the small Pulled Chicken Sandwich ($8.95), and a combo of Pulled Pork and Ribs. Both the chicken and pork were ample helpings with good flavor, but a bit dry. That could have been due to our 1pm arrival, as most of the lunch crowd had come and gone. The ribs were cooked to a good temperature and were a good flavor. Both the sides of onion rings and baked beans were just OK, but clearly not house-made. I should mention that as a matter of personal taste, the BBQ was very smoky, a taste akin to liquid smoke. Clearly that taste is popular, based on other reviews, it's just not a personal favorite of mine. If you are a fan of brisket (which when I say BBQ, that's what I mean), it's not on the menu.

This diner is small and totally casual and unpretentious. There is a small counter with four stools and only five tables inside, with several more outside. The latest they're open is 7pm Tuesday through Friday, and only until 4pm on Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday), so get here early! Pulled pork BBQ is one of my favorite things to eat every time my wife and I visit South Carolina, and Mike & Jeff's know how to do it right! Easily the best BBQ I've found in the Greenville area!

I can't imagine better bbq. The pork is so tender and smoky that no sauce is needed but they do have some options on the tables. At first glance, the restaurant doesn't look like much and parking is kind of limited but you will be hard-pressed to find tastier bbq. I ordered the small pork plate which was massive and two delicious sides of homemade Mac n cheese and homemade potato salad which was top notch. The sweet tea is on point too. And very friendly customer service too! Can't wait to venture back again!

Hi! I had my first mike & jeffs bbq experience this past weekend. My boyfriend ordered us two Bbq rib & bbq chicken plates with potatoe salad and baked beans and if i have to say my favorite part was those baked beans & I'm picky about baked beans but those babies were good complimented by the creamy potato salad! Now onto the ribs they were meaty and when u want ribs thats how i like em! Im from NC so the sauces are alot different than SC as Im new to Greenville. Im more used to a vinegar based bbq sauce and here it is more of a tang sauce mustard base in SC but no biggie. I liked the ribs texture. Onto my bbq chicken it was rather well a bit on the dry side and a little chewy to chew but i still ate some of it. Ill try other menu items as well next time but overall it was good just make sure your chicken is fall of the bone tender! Just an honest review and to make a NC bbq ketchup based sauce! Anyways for a first time it was good and its local to my residence which is good!

Stopped for dinner on way to Atlanta. Took a bit to find however once we did it was incredible. Little place tucked away. Service top notch, affordable, and the pulled pork platters were loaded up with a ton of perfectly prepared pork, 2 generous sides (I had the Cole slaw which was perfect and fries). Others at our table had ribs, chicken and sides including Mac & cheese, onion rings and beans. All were delicious. Although this was more than filling, save to for the banana pudding. Everything is homemade and it tastes in every bite. Will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone in the area.

Place is a dive. Doesn't mean it's a bad thing but it's not going to impress anyone from the outside. The good. The potions are great. The smoke is real. The bad. The ribs are country or family cut. Which means they have like 30% bullshit mix of small bones and cartilage on the end of them. The pork was decent and moist. The sides were ok. Buddy of mine loves this place for me It's a skip

We were a little skeptical when we pulled up to the little hole in the wall that is Mike & Jeff's, but the reviews were solid and we hoped it would turn out to be a diamond in the rough type place. OMG we were not disappointed. The place is super clean and the seating, while limited, is very comfortable. The service was fantastic and the prices very reasonable. The food is delicious!!! Be prepared to take a sizeable amount home because the portions are generous. If we didn't have a flight to catch I think we'd have stayed well beyond the meal just to sit and take in the amazing smokey bbq smell permeating the dining area. By far one of the best bbq places we've been to. Your only real challenge will be narrowing down what you can eat in one sitting.

The smell was apparent even before I came into the place. Everyone was super friendly and the service was super prompt. I would say this is some of the best pulled pork I've ever had. I also had the ribs--which could've been a bit more tender--but it's definitely full of delicious, porky flavor. The best part, though, were the sauces. The ghost pepper sauce was my absolute favorite and I liked it so much I had to buy it on my way out for my partner. The sweet tea was just sweet enough and the sides were solid, classic sides (I had cole slaw and mac and cheese). One plate is definitely plenty of food and the prices were awesome. I would definitely recommend stopping here for some good food.

This is hand's down the most ridiculously delicious BBQ in the upstate. Every single time I eat here, it leaves me aching for another round. I usually get the Rib & (pulled) chicken combo. (It comes with 2 sides.) The chicken is tender and moist from the first bite to the last. And the ribs... Oh the ribs! You can taste the time & care that went into every single one. The meat is so tender & falls off the bone. It's not overly sauced or seasoned which makes it perfect for those who are possibly keto eaters. Ihave also had their pulled pork, which never disappoints. I am under Dr's orders to limit my pork intake so that's why I have to at least balance things out with the pulled chicken, or else I would go all in! The only thing I wish they had was beef brisket because I believe they would knock it out of the park! The mac and cheese is straight out of Grandma's kitchen & the sweet potato souffle is super southern. The staff is so nice & I love all the pig statues that greet you when you walk in. What a hidden gem! Don't sleep on this place. Please, please, never ever close!

Great little off the beaten path BBQ joint. Service was so friendly and made us feel like regulars the first time here. Pulled pork and sauces were delicious. Try the backed beans, a tasty little treat. This place is exactly what you want a BBQ place to be.

It's funny how with any other style of cuisine, you'd see a rundown little shack practically falling apart and think, "Better go somewhere else," but with barbecue you think, "Oh good, this'll be quality." Really, if you're looking for some genuine smoked pulled pork, look no further. This is the good stuff.

I travel to South Carolina twice a year. There are two bbq joints I eat at and this is one of them. The ribs, chicken and pork are spot on. You can't go wrong with any of the sauces but I love the mustard sauce. If you have not been here before what are you waiting for?!

Some of the best BBQ I've ever had, definitely the best in the area. It's in an industrial, run down section of town, don't expect atmosphere, the place is a dive, however that's where the best BBQ comes from.

Mike & Jeff's was awesome! Sadly I didn't take any pics because I was too busy chowing down. But it's definitely a hole in the wall, back home country feel. Our waitress was an older lady with curly gray hair and a big smile. She reminded me of my grandmother which was heartwarming. We had the pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad and hush puppies and everything was really tasty and flavorful. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

For openers, if you believe as does the Brown Shoe Gourmet that the best barbecue is usually in the worst part of town in a joint with bars on the window and just enough grease on the table to be able to write your initials, then this place falls short on two of three counts.... but it's still one of the best in the area. It's a family operation in a not so great part of town with too few tables and not enough parking that serves up world class pork, some very good ribs and excellent pulled chicken - along with some far better than most sides. Too good to be true? There must be something where they fall short; yes, they don't offer Brunswick Stew, they provide buns rather than thin sliced white bread, the meat on the ribs falls off the bone, not because they pare boil them (a felony crime in some states), but rather because between the smoking and grilling (a 12 hour process) they steam them. Wish they didn't, but they do. And they were out of T shirts. They advertise as a Barbecue Diner, but the closest they come to being a diner is offering barbecue (how do they do that?) hot dogs, hamburgers and fried bologna. Why? One of the quirks of the place is that they offer what are termed French fries and home fries. The French fries are of the frozen variety; the home fries are hand cut, freshly deep fried. One is crispy but bland, the other full flavor Idaho potatoes at their best. Easy decision. Three sauces: standard thick red, good but not really distinctive,; a hot sauce (the original with additives) and a too mustardy option. Metro Greenville has more than its fair share of barbecue - Mike and Jeff's is one of the best if not The. The other sides we tried were all far above average. The sweet potato soufflé was excellent, the baked beans had a good 'cue flavor, and the slaw was finely minced, sweet full flavor, one of the best we've enjoyed of late. The hush puppies, we're told, are also very good. They list (frozen) onion rings, but I'm not sure why. It's a family run operation meaning the service is good and they really do want to make sure you enjoy your meal. Their combo dinners worked best for us and were more than one person should be required to eat. For all of $9.95 the Brown Shoe Gourmet had the rib and pork combo. Three ribs and a generous shot of pork plus the two sides, home fries and slaw. One of the best bargains we've come across. Afterwards, the waitress (not sure whether she's with Jeff or Mike) confided the combo was more than enough for two - and she was right.
