TL;DR - The Fancy is an excellent breakfast sandwich; it is meaty, cheesy, and eggy. Onion adds some welcome freshness, but a little more is needed. Avocado is a nice touch, and I wish there were more.
I had written almost 200 words haranguing this place for their "fancy" not being fancy enough. I had even brought up a "date" and the Cheesecake Factory. However, after giving it another chance, I can say: "I get it now!" At least, I hope so.
I deleted all 192 words and am starting fresh.
It was all about expectations. I read "avocado and red onion," I expected a proper slather; for the avocado and onion to be as prominent as any other ingredient. Instead, I got a schmear and was a little salty about being shorted avocado. Then, having it the second time, I thought: "maybe that's the idea? It is supposed to be a schmear."
I absolutely want to give credit where credit is due. This sandwich was delectably cheesy, they did not skimp on the bacon, and with eggs being worth their weight in gold, I will not say 'no' to two eggs. Due to the cheesiness and meatiness, the sandwich was a bit heavy on salt, though this is understandable and forgivable.
Where I felt it fell a little short was the avocado and the onion. The ingredients, which I assume are supposed to make this thing "fancy." Despite its use as a schmear, I would have liked more avocado. Especially because it would take unto itself some of that extra salt. Furthermore, what I felt the sandwich lacked was more of a fresh element. The onions got it halfway there; all there needed to be was more of them.
Finally, I want to give them kudos for having hot sauce available. Now, unfortunately, to my taste buds, this one lacked heat. I wish there were an extra spicy option for daredevils like myself.
While this sandwich was unquestionably a step above Dunkin' or Starbucks, it was great as far as gourmet breakfast sandos go. Still, it did not blow me away sufficiently to earn the fifth star.
