16 Great Valentine's Day Restaurants For People Who Aren’t Really Into Valentine’s Day - New York - The Infatuation

"We see two reasons to spend Valentine’s Day at this classic diner on the Upper East Side. The first is to be cute and unpredictable, not unlike Meg Ryan in any movie Meg Ryan stars in. Another perfectly compelling reason? To protest the traditions of a holiday created to push candy and make single people feel like they have the sex appeal of a toaster oven (we’ve all been there). Either way, get the chocolate chip pancakes or a turkey club, and hang out in a booth until you’ve properly people-watched the room." - hannah albertine

Google
Hole in the wall, but food is delicious and served super fast. Excellent if you are in a rush. Delicious coffee. No tables - grab and go spot.

Paul Muller

Google
Best egg sandwich I’ve had in the city. Simple and delicious, the Kaiser roll was on point and the bacon crispy. Highly recommend and card is accepted

Joseph Ma

Google
fun secret: their tamales are great but you have to show up early before they run out :)

Jörg Köster

Google
It‘s just a little window in the wall with a telephone-cell-sized kitchen behind it, but you will hardly find a more authentic NY- breakfast to go. Grab a bagel with cream cheese and a cup of coffee , and you will be happy for 5$. For lunch you can have tasty looking sandwichs with bacon and cheese and much more. Staff is very friendly, 5 Stars for Mike‘s!

Google
You can't go wrong with their sausage & egg with cheese on a Kaiser roll. It's a budget-friendly, delicious option that's perfect for breakfast. The best part is they accept cards, making it even more convenient!

Google
Great people, fast service, great prices. Bring a few bucks with you if you’re planning on getting off the 6 train on 33rd and need a quick bite. (Lunch and breakfast only). Your order will come out in like two-three minutes. I like their sausage egg and cheese on a butter roll so much better than their bacon egg and cheese.

Madi

Google
Skip Dunkin, skip Pret, go here for a local and authentic NYC breakfast experience. So friendly and quick! Sausage, egg, cheese and coffee was only $7.50.

Auden Ehringer

Google
We love mikes! Adding photos of the pastrami and beef roles bc I don’t see those yet.

Yelp
Sooooo sooo good!! I go the tuna melt and it was 10/10!! I went during peak lunch and there was a line but they were super quick. I brought cash but they do take card!
google avatar

Stephen K.

Yelp
Hot and fresh bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser roll. Not much more to add. Just have to make sure you can eat somewhere else since it's only a counter where you can order and take to go. Coffee was tasty as well. Friendly and smiling associates working the counter. A good quick and cheap-ish bfast option in this area. Have not tried any of the other breakfast or burger options.
google avatar

Deborah P.

Yelp
Perfect brkfst egg sammie! Cooked right in front of me - the bacon was crispy and greaseless - zero gristle. The kaiser roll was fresh and crunchy. Just a hole in the wall, but satisfying.
google avatar

Anna P.

Yelp
Friendly staff and decent bfast for affordable price. Got two Eggs and cheese with little bit of ketchup on a roll
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Perfect hangover cure. Nice and cheap and simple. Just need to get a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll to solve your problems
google avatar

Yelp
A great spot to get a classic BEC & other breakfast staples on the go. Their coffee is great, could easily enjoy it black or light and sweet. This is my go-to when I'm in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Yelp
Mikes Value Breakfast! Looking for great coffee and an egger look no further than mikes! - Great Coffee - Great Cheap Tasty Egger
google avatar

Tara F.

Yelp
The best bacon egg and cheese in the city. I had never previously ordered them and with their crispy bacon now I can't stop! Also great to pop by for lunch as well tuna melt and fries were great!

Kat P.

Yelp
I've walked by mikes so many times and it's been on my mind to try it. I got the best bacon egg & cheese (bacon/egg were cooked perfectly and the bagel was so fresh). The man at the register was so pleasant and efficient. Will definitely be back :)

Yelp
Recently went to a meeting in 32nd at and found this deli. Not a fancy one , but saw so many people buying stuff from here . Treid this and it was good .. I should say, the service here is prettyyyy quick .. there are 3-4 guys at the back making orders and it was really fast . Had coffee, hash browns and egg with bagel .. . Everything was good. Coffee could have been better ... overall loved this place :) priced right too. Not expensive as others fancy delis... :)
google avatar

Yelp
A gem of a spot... We stayed at a hotel across the street and stopped for breakfast every day. Two made to order breakfast sandwiches and a coffee for nine dollars - in NYC - I must be dreaming!! It seem to be a very popular spot but Service was quick. Also very very friendly Cash only
google avatar

Felipe M.

Yelp
Amazing food & super fast service . Staff was so friendly & had a huge smile . The trip here made our morning get a bacon egg and cheese for breakfast
google avatar

Vivek D.

Yelp
I don't really have much else to say, except this is the spot to get your egg and cheese in the morning. I've religiously stuck to food trucks in the past, but this place is now cheaper than the nearby food trucks ($3.50 for two eggs and cheese compared to $4). You also get a legit two eggs and you feel fulfilled. I should probably take some photos, but I simply finish too fast to even think about doing so. This is my Monday morning routine and I'd highly recommend to others in the area.
google avatar

Amie X.

Yelp
Great place if you're looking for something yummy and fast. Got a bacon egg cheese and it was out within a minute. For only $5, it's definitely worth it if you're nearby and hungry.
google avatar

Dana C.

Yelp
Great tamales, bagels wraps and more. Service was great and so were the prices. We saw Mr. Big walk by while in line!
google avatar

Kylie B.

Yelp
Awesome hole in the wall spot. Breakfast and lunch items at a reasonable price. Fast service - waited maybe 2 minutes for my sandwich to be ready. Accepts contactless pay which is great!

Hugo B.

Yelp
I love Mike's! Quick friendly service and the food is great. Prices are very reasonable. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Samson V.

Yelp
Always see a line here so obviously had to give it a try (mostly cause coworker wanted a sandwich here lol) There were a lot of ppl waiting but the line moved very quickly. I was basic and ordered a ham and cheese sandwich which is gigantic lol. Hope to try their other items in the future.
google avatar

Leo L.

Yelp
I only ordered egg on a roll and got overcharged. Either they didn't update the price on their menu or ..., but I'm not a tourist (once again, even tourists shouldn't be treated this way if the menu is correct).

Yelp
Doors away from my Doctor's office and I'm starving. I come upon Mike's Coffee and Deli and the aroma was delightful. Fresh bacon frying on the grill, the coffee brewing, I had to eat. Bacon, egg, cheese on a Kaiser, large coffee. 5 bucks and delicious, the way street sandwiches used to be back in the day. I found a short wall on Park Avenue, sat down, and dined Al Fresco like Max Bialystock in The Producers (the original thank you). Old school and outstanding. They have the New York variety of sandwiches and such and it all looked great. I can't wait for my next Doctors appointment.

Yelp
Fast, clean, and friendly service. Since I've discovered it, I've been there everyday.
google avatar

Yelp
its not hole in the wall place , mikes coffee and deli is more like hole in a nook but thats ok cause the breakfast is very good and not pricey .egg sandwiches , pancakes , bagels with cream cheese , full breakfast platters, coffee, tea , etc, a good hearty platter of eggs , sausage, home fries with toast for under 10 bucks is well worth it.cant comment on the lunch grub but i did see a menu of a variety of sandwiches , fries , salad platters , etc, so i guess a visit during the afternoon for lunch seems possible as i have not had a tuna melt in a while but i could get a burger also. got my egg white wrap for me and 4 eggs and sausage sandwiches for my slacker staff and its time to get to work. overall 4.5 stars on my yelp meter for mikes coffee and deli.

Carrie S.

Yelp
Yelp is reporting that they're closed but it was only temporary as they were renovating. As of last week they are back in business. So happy as I love their BEC and chicken salad sandwiches.
google avatar

Glenn C.

Yelp
Good little egg sandwich in the morning from here. Quintessential NYC breakfast. They added a good amount of hot sauce/ketchup as well. Nice people, the donald trump fund on the side is quite funny as well.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Best Bacon Egg and Cheese. Period. The roll is fresh, the egg is not over cooked, the cheese is not overly aggressive and the bacon is slightly crisp enough to compliment. Perfect balance. Enough said. The Mexican omelet is good too. Same deal. No over cooked eggs and the cheese is right. This place is run like clockwork. Fast service, great food, mom and pop type place with more than fair pricing. It screams NY. And I love watching the customers, obviously working type people, salt of the earth. Really the antithesis of places like Europa Cafe and Pax. Where you get shitty overpriced plastic food from an underpaid asshole that acts like they own the place. That's for the tourists.
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
Cheap, no thrills, exactly what a NYC sandwich counter should be. Where in Midtown can you still get a baconeggandcheese for $3.50?!?! No where. Really delicious as well. Fast service, go early enough theres no line, and they'll salt pepper and ketchup that for you no problem! Cash only, but conveniently near a chase. Also happy to bop over here for an NYC staple food.
google avatar

Kristie T.

Yelp
This is the literal definition of a hole in the wall. We got two bacon and egg and cheeses on hard rolls. The quality of the food completely exceeds expectations. Delicious! Give this place a chance! Will be back when in this area.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
A literal hole in the wall. Nondescript despite the awning that covers a big chunk of the sidewalk in front of it. This place exudes a mid-'90s-great-restaurant-known-only-to-the-locals energy that makes me think that I don't need Yelp. I usually come here for breakfast and it's usually cream cheese on a bagel or a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. The lunch sandwiches are also good. If you've ever been to San Francisco, this isn't the Sentinel. This place will, however, get you out for a third of the money in a sixth of the time with 90% of the satisfaction--120%, even, if you're just looking for a deal.

Yelp
The best omelet in New York City is not at some fancy hotel or restaurant but at Mike's deli on east 32nd street. Probably the smallest restaurant in all of New York City it's take-out only and the best ham and cheese omelet with a side of sausage buttered toast and pure Colombian Coffee will set you back 7 one dollar bills. "Tax included". There are no tables. The entire place is maybe 11 feet by 10 feet and three guys are in their prepping, cooking and serving a local crowd of office workers, construction workers, and women who have money yet wear torn and ripped jeans. One day I realized I had a steak that was going to go bad soon. I brought it to work and on the way I stopped at Mike's and asked if they would cook this for me for lunch a few hours later. I told them I'd give them $5. They said sure..come back at 1PM and we will have it cooked for you. I came back..tried to give them $5 and they would not accept it! What great guys there!
google avatar

Jenny Y.

Yelp
Ordered the Mexican Omelet breakfast burrito for $5. I wasn't too hungry, to begin with, but just past by their small stand/store and there were four people waiting for their sandwiches/coffee. I thought this must be a great place. It was. The service and food are cheap which are, of course, big PLUSes! I have a bit of a food coma afterward which is not good for work. But all over I like how it is a local stand and are very efficient with getting the orders out. :D Will order their bacon egg and cheese next time!
google avatar

Jeremy W.

Yelp
This place get's it done for breakfast. $3 gets you an egg and cheese sandwich and a coffee. If that's not the right way to start a work day in this area, you probably didnt drink enough last night. Seriously, I'd look into that.
google avatar

Karla A.

Yelp
Tiny little hole in the wall mecca for inexpensive quick breakfast/lunch. When I have a hankering to devour a bacon egg and cheese I stop by this joint which is perfectly located right by the subway station. There is always a crowd in the morning but don't be put off by the crowd. They have mastered the art of cooking up everyone's order quickly and accurately. There are people that go to Mike's everyday and then there's people like me that will stop by when I am want to indulge! You won't pay more than $5 for a breakfast and coffee which is a steal in expensive Manhattan.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Rude staff and horrible customer service! Overpriced mediocre food 2 thumbs down for me I don't see the hype maybe people enjoy crap for breakfast.
google avatar

Gabrielle T.

Yelp
Fast, cheap, and pretty tasty! Not your traditional deli with chips/sodas/etc... just a walk-up window to order at.
google avatar

Kellie O.

Yelp
Honestly incredible, I don't know how there are only 13 reviews, best bacon egg and cheese in town and it's fast and cheap. Try this hole in the wall.
google avatar

Richard T.

Yelp
This is a funny little place that has very good coffee. If you blinked while walking by, you might have missed it while looking for the #6 Downtown Subway entrance. Friendly guys working there with a simple Breakfast-Lunch menu exhibited in this to-go only closet of a space.
google avatar

Alice C.

Yelp
This is the type of place that I would usually walk past, but I happened to be in the area and needed a quick bite before heading back to work, so I decided to try the BLT sandwich. The Deli is a literal hole-in-the-wall located by an entrance of the downtown 6 train. They sell a variety of sandwiches, burgers, heros, etc. For $3, my BLT was a good deal. It's pretty small (think of a regular slice of Wonder Bread), but a perfect size for a small meal. I waited only a few minutes before I received my sandwich, and they didn't skimp on the bacon-y goodness. It's unfortunate I'm not in this area more often, otherwise I would probably grab lunch here weekly.
google avatar

jeaNNie n.

Yelp
The best sausage egg and cheese on a roll I. The city. Crave this place for breakfast. It's out of the way for me but I'd take the trip back just to get good eats for cheap.

Amanda L.

Yelp
Love this place! Pleasant staff, fast, consistently good food. The most affordable deal, just remember to bring cash!!
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
I love this place - cheap, fast, good. Breakfast sandwiches mostly but don't dismiss what they offer for lunch. Everything is under $5...good for my wallet and my general sanity!!

Jon G.

Yelp
Mike's Deli serves, hands down, the best bacon-egg-and cheese in Manhattan. I've tried this NYC classic in many restaurants and at food carts. None of them come close to Mike's. I haven't tried any of their other items (except for the sausage-egg-and cheese, which was also great) but it doesn't matter. Again, BEST BACON-EGG-AND CHEESE in Manhattan! That's all you need to know besides the fact that it costs $4. Yep, that's right.
google avatar

J R.

Yelp
I arrived at Mike's Deli @ 8:45am and there was a long line but it moved very quickly. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll with a large coffee for $5. The sandwich was decent and very filling. It's a great place to stop by for a quick breakfast.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Could not believe my luck!! Amazing food and very affordable. A definite place to stop and grab something to eat. Plan to stop by real soon.

Charlotte F.

Yelp
Mikes is a popular spot in the morning. It really is a hole in the wall but the service is great and the employees are very kind. They can accommodate anything you need. Love them!!
google avatar

Gwen B.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place with a lot of options and frills, this is not that place. But if you're looking for a place where they know your order when you walk up to the window or where you can get a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee for $3, this is definitely that place. I'm here every morning on my way to work, and it's 100% because they're fast, friendly and cheap.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
I guess everyone is liking this place cause there fast I didn't like it I was rushed by the asshole behind me then the guys rushed me to order causing me to get on line again to order the muffin which was raisin not choclate the bagels wasn't toasted I tues u have to say all this while ur ordering. I'll have to try it again with something simple but most likely not.
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Try the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. It's a staple in NYC, but Mike's is quintessentially New York.

Aaron M.

Yelp
If you're broke and work in Murray Hill, do yourself a favor in the morning and grab a bacon egg and cheese here for about $3. Its 20x better than Dunkin Donuts or subway and its a lot cheaper too. These guys are awesome and after a couple times they'll remember your order. Breakfast sandwiches can be super dicey at little bodegas and food carts, plus theyre always $5 somehow. Hope these guys stay open forever
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
Quickest grill in midtown. Great breakfast sandwich and a large coffee for $4.25, and they won't leave you standing there for more than 3 minutes.
